I love a good, local spot with daily features. Buddy's Place checked all of the boxes. My friends and I arrived around 10:45. They stop serving breakfast at 11:00. I am more of a lunch person, but my two friends were able to order breakfast before the cut off at 11:00. Their daily breakfast special for $7.99 is a great deal. Our waitress, Amber, was so friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. Since it was my first visit, I followed her suggestions and chose the chicken tenders with okra and mac and cheese. Having the bread option of hush puppies was a nice surprise. I would return to Buddy's just to have the hush puppies again. Their homemade ranch was delicious with the lightly breaded chicken tenders and the okra was so good. Okra is not something I order often, but I really enjoyed it. The decor is very interesting. I can appreciate all of the old time touches and the variety of taxidermy animals. I am sure my 7 year old would be fascinated. Overall, a fantastic first experience. Our first time here. Parking is an issue for sure. Food wise, mine was great. But the onion rings had zero flavor and didn't taste fully cooked. My wife had chicken and dumplins and it wasn't good at all. Her mashed potatoes weren't good either. They tasted like they were made days ago and just warmed back up. Our waitress was really good, super friendly and helpful. I'd go back for the same meal but that's it. They have way too much on their menu. Interesting decor. Seat yourself. Service was a little slow at first and they would probably benefit from a hostess to help with that. But once we were recognized as sitting and waiting, the service was great. The food was plentiful and very tasty. Some of the best calabash shrimp at a non-seafood restaurant I have had. Located on the corner of a busy intersection, I stopped for a late lunch at this place while passing through. A small town with good country cookin was what I was looking for. They were not real busy when I was there, but there were many tables of various sizes. The place is huge inside. I loved the decor....really nice country vibe with a few "antiques" around. A waitress came and we talked briefly and she answered my questions and was helpful. The menu is huge...some of everything, including seafood, which surprised me. I ordered the chuckwagon dinner with brown gravy expecting a country fried steak with gravy. I also got fried squash and collards. The meat was a frozen breaded patty with canned gravy. There were two pieces, but I didnt eat it all. Just not what I expected at all. The squash was not cooked long enough. The breading was soft and squishy and just not cooked, so I fished the squash out and at that part and left the breading. It was from a frozen bag too. Ah, but the collards were good and cooked well and the tea was good. No one came back to check on me or I would have sent the squash back to be cooked. I had to ask for a tea to go at the counter where you go to pay the bill. A neat place....maybe I just ordered the wrong things, but dont think I will stop again. read more

Hole in the wall diner with an eclectic menu of mainly fried food and a few Greek items. I think the gyro meat is pre made bought from the store and the fries are crinkle frozen fries. I got the gyro plate during the lunch hour as I was told that was what the family that owns the place specializes in. It DID NOT DISAPPOINT! It was delicious cooked with the right amount of char on the gyros and the fries were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The waitress was very attentive and always refilled my water and the rest of the table's. Apparently they're known for their fried pickles and fried vegetables in general and many others approve of it! We travel through Mount Pleasant quiet often to see our grandchildren.And our son and his wife to.We've been in 73 & Main.We've been in What-a-Burger.Like them all.This past Sunday we hit Buddy's Place.We got there after one so the Sunday lunch crowd was winding down.Once in the door it was seat yourself.My wife looked a the special's on the board just as you came in trying to get an idea of some food.Our waitress was quick on the spot with our drink order.The menus were on the table.Buddy's offers anything from seafood to burgers and subs,salads.A kids menu to.Being Sunday It was fried chicken for me and my wife.You could get a quarter or half of bird.Sometime you go out on a limb thinking I eat half BBQ chicken so I opted for the half with two sides,Which was green beans and collards with corn bread.My wife chose 1/4 white meat and mashed potatoes with gravy and Lima beans.Our wait was a little slow.We asked before placing our order would the chicken have to be cooked and our waitress assured us all was ready.while waiting we both started looking at what other guest where eating.We saw baked spaghetti with salad.Some good looking flounder came to the table across from us.My next trip will be seafood,It looked good.When our food arrived I saw this look on my wife's face.Those Chicken breast with wing on where some kinda Big.And I had two of them.She was like me thinking it would be breast wing thigh leg.Nope. Buddy's has went down hill greatly in customer service. The food is still good but expect to wait a long time for it and your order to be wrong. I use to eat there at least once a week and had a bad experience there yesterday waiting for someone to come to our table for dinner service. I finally went up and told a lady (Michelle) and she had someone come to me. I visited this morning for breakfast and had the same problem, as I was waiting two more couples came in after me and was served first. The waiter finally came over and took our order. I ordered 2 specials for me and my two kids. The food finally came out and I was surprised to see one of the orders was left off. They brought out the other order and new ticket fast. They still left off one of the kids drink but I didn't say anything till I went to pay for my food. I would have said something before but the waiter never came back. I told Michelle about the experience I had that morning and the evening before. She got offended and accused me of calling the health department on her and putting her business down on Facebook. I replied back that that was false and I only promoted her business in a good way in the past on Yelp until now. She then took off one of the kids drinks off the final bill. Everyone has a bad day but you'd think after a loyal customer comes in as often as I did you'd handle things a little better. A local eatery with an eclectic menu, encompassing all American favorites and Greek specialties. Prices are very low, food good, representing one of the best value propositions in Cabarrus Country. My favorite is the fish and chips. Crunchy light batter and lots of fish. My wife always needs a doggy bag. Knocked it down to 4 stars simply because this 'diner' establishment has jaded seating and tables. Needs a bit of a face lift.
