The car was far from clean. Inventory in it included: a bag of goldfish crackers, a purple pen, and 4 crayons. The back windshield was super dirty, the front window caked with seasonal dead bugs. I had to get out some windex to clean it up. If this sort of thing doesn't bother you, then its fine I guess. There's not a lot of inventory, maybe a dozen cars so I suppose you better reserve early. read more

Long story short, I reserved a car, the guy claims he tried to call me and then said I needed to drive to Brighton, Michigan to pick up the car which is about 35 minute drive away from my house. He was even nice enough to offer me to drive a shuttle.....LOL!!!! Maybe I'm asking too much but he could have taken the same shuttle he offered me and picked up the car I rented. Ended up having to find an alternative and was late to my meeting in Chicago. Never again! LA read more

Rented a Budget ford Transit 12 passenger from this location. If a zero star was possible I would have given them zero stars. I specifically asked if this was a 4 wheel drive and was told it was (I google checked and indeed this van has a 4 wheel configuration). This truck was not 1 4 wheel drive which made my trip to UP very difficult once I needed the 4 wheel drive encountering very slippery conditions. In addition, the gas tank was less than 3/4 full and they know very well that you can not fill it exactly to just under 3/4 full -so either was they gain cash and it's slowly adds up with renters just letting it go. This is called theft. Lastly, on my first refuel stop to the Michigan UP (at Gaylord) I found out that the fuel line connected to the gas tank was leaking and I had to patch it so I can refuel this van. Wasted an hour doing so and about $50.00 in special line tape with no recognition from the rude owner. Just avoid this place at all cost. Badly operated and they do not care. read more

Came here for one reason--both our cars were dead, and this location (inside the lobby of a Holiday Inn) was within walking distance. Not a bad option to have nearby though. Service was friendly and efficient, and we were on our way quickly. The car itself--a Toyota Corolla--did leave a little to be desired. The "Maintenance Needed" light was on when we picked it up. And while we didn't experience any mechanical problems, it still was a little unsettling to see that. A strong, funky smell, as if the previous renter had routinely driven the car immediately after intense workouts, sans shower, also made the driving experience unpleasant. But, this is a small outlet, and car selection is limited. Since my choice was either this Corolla or two days of bumming rides from friends, I could put up with a bit of odor and that disconcerting warning light. read more

DO NOT EVER RENT FROM THIS AVIS/BUDGET LOCATION!! This should actually be zero stars. I've rented a car here twice. The first time was because I didn't know any better. The second was out of complete necessity because we needed a 1 way rental and they had an option. First time: my family reserved a minivan for a vacation to Hilton Head. When we showed up, they didn't have one and said that they weren't going to. Instead, they gave me an Armada SUV. It wasn't ideal, but we made it work. I thought that the tires were overly worn but the guy assured me they were fine. At 10 pm in the mountains, the tire split and we had to wait 2 hrs for a tow truck. After getting the spare on and getting to HH (after a night in hotel), I took it to a repair shop. They said that they could. It fix the tire and that the other rear tire was unsafe for travel. I have to buy $600 of tires out of pocket and then almost get legal involved to be reimbursed. Second time: called in the morning to be sure that they would have a car for our 1 way rental of 3 hours. They said yes. When we got there, they did not have one and my wife was stuck there for an hour. We went back up the next morning and got there at 9:05 am for our rental. They open at 9. Door was locked and completely dark. They finally walked in (in sweatpants and slippers) at 9:10 am. Car was not ready and covered in snow. And they were incredibly rude. I have probably written less than 5 reviews in my lifetime. But I thought I owed it to society to warn people about the worst retail experiences I have ever had. read more

Can't give it a zero but I would. Got there and was about 8th in line. There were only 3 open stations and each transaction in front of me took 10-15 minutes. As I got closer there were about 40 people behind me. The 3 sales agents couldn't even bother to look up and see what a backup they created. One of them actually took a break right when it was my turn. I've never seen any service business run so poorly. I wouldn't recommend this Budget location to anyone at all. Not one sorry for the wait etc. it was astonishing. read more

hmmm...where to start...I think the Ford Transit we reserved several months in advance might actually not exist. As long as you don't mind not getting the vehicle you were promised and the smell of urine and booger streaked windows don't bother you you'll be happy with their service. In their defense they did try to rid the vehicle of the odor when we complained. It did delay our trip by 30 mins though. And they did at least attempt to give us the discount that was promised to us...it was a kind gesture but alas they just couldn't figure out how to apply it. Oh well...I leave the judgement to you. Highly recommend renting from Ibrahim here at the Budget-Avis rental car desk. He's always taken great care of me whenever I've needed rental cars and I can't thank him enough for all the special care and attention he's provided, as I've gone through various rental car issues. The car selection on this lot is admittedly slim, compared to a large airport location, but they've still got a decent selection, especially for an in-town rental shop. Note that the rental car desk is *inside* the hotel. read more

We reserved the vehicle for 7am in the morning, we arrived at 7am and no one had opened the office yet. Two employees finally showed up at 7:20 with no apology at all. After checking in we waited in the lobby until the keys were given to us at 7:45. When we got in the vehicle it was filthy as far as rental standards go. The fuel tank was not full, it was about 3 gallons shy of full I figured after I filled it up. The tires were very worn and at least one of them was out of balance making an irritating noise the whole trip. I have rented one other time from this facility about a year ago where the car was not very clean and again the fuel tank was not full when I got it. I have had great experiences with other Budget rental locations but I will never rent from this location again. Also, when I returned the vehicle at 4pm on Monday the office door was locked and no one was there so I left the keys in the drop box. read more

I reserved a vehicle for two weeks while mine was in the shop. When I arrived for the pickup, the location was closed an hour early with no notification on the website or on location about closing early. After calling customer service, all alternate locations were sold out and I was told there was nothing they could do and it was my fault, that I should have been there "earlier." Now I have no car on the day before Christmas and I can't spend time with my family for the holiday because I can't get there. I will never rent from budget/avis after this. read more

Horrible experience! The agent at the counter looked unkept and dirty, almost as if he were homeless. The agent used profanity directed towards me as well. This company assures renting with a debit card would not be a problem, yet upon arriving in Michigan, they would not rent me the car. The policy is completely misleading. This company left me stranded in a state I'm not from nor am I fibulae with. The service and entire experience was unacceptable. I highly recommend using a different rental company, and definitely do NOT use this location. read more

Contrary to the few reviews here, I had a very good experience at Budget's Ann Arbor location with my car drop off. The lady at the desk was incredibly nice and helpful (even at 7:00AM right after doors opened!) and helped direct me to the appropriate Budge Customer Service line to resolve an issue that was created by a separate Budget branch. Had I reserved my car here, I doubt I would have had any issues in the first place! read more

I rent cars quite often, but mostly with Enterprise. Call me spoiled, but I have come to expect that when I call, people don't yell at me. I expect that there is a drop-off box for after-hours returns. I expect that when a location states it has pick-up service, it actually exists (including a drop-off after a rental). I expect a location to be marked with a sign so you can find it from the road. None of these expectations are met by this location. Only in Ann Arbor can abysmal service like this survive. If you want this to continue, be my guest and patronize this location. read more
