I have used Budget Appliance for 20 years whenever there is a problem with an appliance. Karl is excellent, he is completely honest. Years ago, I had a small coffee business and the refrigerator went on the blink. I called one fellow who said I needed all kinds of pricey repairs. Then I called Karl at Budget Appliance and he gave it a freon boost very inexpensively and that solved it! I was impressed by his honesty! This is an update to my 5 star review from a few years ago. Unfortunately, yet again had a fridge problem, which I inherited when bought my condo three years ago. Called Budget, since I still had their contact saved on my phone. I was pleasantly surprised when the same person, the business owner, Karl came out to help. Arrived on time, fixed the fridge, left without a trace of him being present in my condo. Very professional and clean work! The price is like elsewhere if not below, in other words, reasonable. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I had this man out twice to fix my refrigerator and he offered to replace a part on my convection oven that cost me $550.00 on May 27th, 2020, my oven stopped working again a week ago. I called THE ONLY TECHNICIAN, Karl, who answers all 4 numbers with different area codes and he told me he would come out to look at it for 65.00?? I spoke with another appliance company and they said the part should be warranted for up to a year and no fee should be charged unless its a separate problem. I called Karl back to give him the opportunity to make it right and he kept talking over me, saying "you can't talk to me like that?" I told him my next step was to call Consumer Affairs and he said he did not care. So as of today there is an open case against him and his company. Very Satisfied. Called at 4:57 PM on a Tuesday and requested service for a Whirlpool Dryer. They scheduled me for the next day within the window of time I had available. The person who answered was quite professional in relaying the costs involved: 1) service call charge; 2) how it would be waived in the event an actual repair was needed; 3) Further, she was quite clear that if a special order part was needed, there would be no additional service charge for the follow up visit to install. The website was well designed which I appreciated and I found several helpful coupons to print. The repairman was actually early and waited graciously for my arrival. He was professional and pleasant, wearing the company uniform. He quickly dismantled and reviewed my appliance. He found the problem, discussed it with me and corrected it. In the conversation, I told him of another concern I had with the dryer unit and he pleasantly investigated further both the unit and my venting system to the outside. We discussed what I suspected might soon be another potential problem with the unit so we reviewed the function involved (I am pretty versed in appliances so it was VERY nice to be treated as if I were knowledgeable). He shared that it could be updated/repaired at a VERY reasonable cost (I buy my parts wholesale so I pretty much knew the costs involved). He offered to repair it right away as he had the parts .... to which I happily agreed. Before closing up the unit, he thoroughly cleaned and vacuumed the internal parts as well as underneath the unit. My final cost was reasonable and he ensured that I had access to a coupon. Easy to pay as he accepted credit cards, etc. Overall, the service call was fast, professional, and I will be using this company's service for my appliance needs going forward. My 10 year old clothes dryer would not start, yet the light was on. I called on a Saturday and was able to set up an appointment for early Monday morning. Karl arrived promptly around 8 a.m. and had the dryer apart in just a few minutes. Once he figured out the problem, he left to go to another job and then pick up the part that he found locally. He came back a couple hours later and replaced the part. Dryer works fine now. read more

When I called on the to let them know I wanted to cancel, no apology no attempt to save the deal or relationship the guy on the phone just hung up. Rude - don't waste your time. If I could give less than one star I would! We have used them before and the younger guy who came out fixed the fridge problem and was very explanatory! The older man who said owns the company came out and asked me for my blow dryer!!!! He said the fridge problem was because "I" left the freezer door open and wanted to charge $160.00 to defrost (Probably with my blow-dryer.) We ended up paying the service charge fee and got a second opinion from APEX. Apex was amazing and it was the starter. I would never recommend Budget again. read more

Had a problem with my AC unit at my house. When I called them they answer the phone right away and showed up for their appointment on time. The guy that was super friendly and found the problem on my unit instantly. Other places quoted me twice as much as they did it for and my A/C has been blowing cold air ever since. The day after we moved in the Microwave/Range hood over the stove popped and sparked. The result was that the unit no longer heated but everything else worked. Being loath to replace the unit, I called BAS and Karl was able to come out the very next afternoon. He quickly diagnosed the problem as a blown diode. He replaced it and the unit heated food again. Called and left a message which was answered within 1/2 hour and an appointment made this day. Karl called early and asked if we could move up the appointment. We did and he arrived within 20 minutes. I was very impressed with his work ethic and his tenaciousness in diagnosing the problem. Early on he said that it could be a drum support kit on the dryer and gave me a quote that let me decide whether or not to continue. I told him to proceed and it worked out that the problem was with a bearing and the repair cost much less. Integrity, good work ethic and understanding of his craft. He was asked to assess an issue with a freezer, but not make any repairs without my consent. He "repaired" the unit without my consent, charged my tenant for the repair, and then yelled at me when I let him know I was upset. His proposed solution was to remove the repaired ice maker, and then charge me for the removal. He also charged more than double for the part needed, and his labor cost was excessive. Unprofessional, rude, and disrespectful. I will NEVER use this service again. Very disappointed and I would not recommend using him. read more

After taking it apart, he discovered what was wrong and asked if he could come back with the needed part later that day or the next day. Quick and painless repair experience. My air conditioner stopped working and they fixed it the same day. Price was very fair.

Very unethical company. Repair man named Karl came to repair our fridge that wasn't cooling. He said it was low on freon and was going to add more to fill it up. He quoted a price of $400. Just for freon gas. He said he couldn't troubleshoot the reason for the low freon until I agreed for him to fill it up first. He was very evasive when I asked him questions. I just didn't trust him and asked him to leave. Suddenly the price of the freon dropped to $250. I ended up calling the fridge manufacturer (GE) and the GE repairman said the problem was a leak in the cooling loop under the fridge. He checked and said the part was still under warranty. So he replaced it and filled the freon, all for a $100 service call. Fridge works fine now. I told him about the repair guy from Budget Appliance Service. He said he had heard lots of complaints about them before, apparently overcharging customers and recommending replacing parts that didn't need replacing. So luck I didn't listen to Karl!! read more

I can not say enough good things about this company. We have had them come out 3 times... for 3 different appliances. While we ended up replacing our stove, they saved us bundles by a $39.95 diagnosis in 10 minutes of the other two appliances (our dryer and dishwasher). This family owned business has mostly "mom" answering calls and scheduling service calls; while "son" and "dad" are technicians in the field. They have always been prompt, honest and very direct about the problem. They have never misdiagnosed, or suggested a repair that shouldn't be done. I will always call them first! read more

PLEASE READ -- THIS COMPANY IS UNETHICAL I found this company on the internet. When I called to schedule an appointment I told the gentleman I had three appliances I wanted looked at. He gave me a price for a service call of $80.00. When the technician arrived, he looked at the frig, gave me a price of $109.95 to adjust the door. I agreed. He also "looked" at the other two appliances (stove and dishwasher). He did absolutely NO WORK on either one. The technician notified me he would be charging me a "diagnostic charge" of $80.00 for each. I told him how absurd this was. He called the office and the office told him to charge me $59.95. After much discussion, I ended up paying $169.90 for the technician to adjust a refrigerator door and get him out of my house! OUTRAGEOUS!!!!!!! I will never use this company again and I will tell everyone I know about my experience in hopes of keeping other people from making the same mistake. read more

I called several companies and this was the only one that charged a service fee of $49.95 and applied that cost to the repairs. This company ripped me off! They came and replaced parts on my Sub Zero and charged me almost $500.00 for repair that should have been covered by warranty. The day after my repair I still had an issue, called them and was told they would have to contact Sub Zero to resolve. Older man gave me an estimate that was higher than Sears. This is not "budget" repair.

I called Budget Appliance Service last June for a built-in microwave that wasn't heating. The guy came out (very rude) and replaced a part that cost $199. He charged me $190 in labor so with tax, parts and labor, it cost $407 to repair. Here it is, 7 months later and the microwave is not working again. I called Budget, told them my issue and that I was charged over $400 to have it fixed and its not working again. His response was "we have a 90 day warranty on parts and it doesn't matter if it was $200 or $400, it's my problem!" He wanted to charge me $50 to go back out and look at it. I told him forget it! Absolutely the worst repairman. He took nearly an hour to remove the front panel on a Bosch dishwasher because he didn't have the correct tools. Once he took it off he looked inside momentarily, said that it was the pump without checking anything, then gave a $300 plus estimate. We paid him $50 to get rid of him and called another repairman who suggested that we get a new dishwasher and not waste money fixing this one. It was nice to find someone honest. Called Karl when our 9 yr old washer went out. The multiple error codes were a bit tricky but he diagnosed a bad mother board, and sure enough that fixed it. Very polite and prompt service .It was obvious he really was interested in getting the problem fixed. read more

My refrigerator was not keeping cold, so I called an appliance place online, which turned out to be a third party. The guy who showed up worked for Budget Applicance Service. He took 5 seconds to find that my starter relay needed to be replaced. He said he had a replacement part in his truck which cost $159.00. During the time it took him to get the part, I found similar replacement parts for half the price online. When asked why his part was so expensive, he said it was an OEM. I then told him that I found an OEM part as well, still at about half the price, with no reasonable response. He also charged me $120.00 for labor. I laughed and reiterated that "I" pulled the refrigerator out, and all he did was pull the part and replace it, no tools needed. He then stated that there is a base fee for the job, which I understand, but $120 for 2 min of work was outrageous. He was rude and condescending during some of our conversation. read more
