NEVER AGAIN. I waited for more than an hour at the Albany Airport Budget counter to pick up a car I had reserved and paid for in advance. The next day, I discovered that one of the tires was underinflated and had a slow leak - so Budget had basically sent me out in an unsafe vehicle. After AAA came and put the spare tire on, I drove back to Albany for a replacement vehicle. Rather than an apology, the Budget reps in the garage offered only a sarcastic laugh when I said I would be asking Budget to waive fuel charges, due to the danger and inconvenience Budget had caused me. Although I returned the replacement car with a full tank, Budget charged me an additional $138 anyway. Apparently, Budget employees don't check the fuel gauge on returned cars, and I didn't have the "time-stamped documentation" their online Customer Service demanded as proof. When I asked them how much my tolling charges were, they said there was nothing in the rental agreement about my enrolling in the toll program, though I had confirmed my enrollment with two on-site Budget employees. (Note: An additional $28.16 charge from Budget later appeared on my credit card, with no explanation or documentation. I assume this was the tolling charge.) The only good thing I can say is that the Budget reps at the counter in the Albany airport were working hard, and patiently, in a very inefficient system. I thank them for their courtesy and good humor, and offer my sympathy for having to work for such a broken company. I will never rent from Budget again. read more

This location ran out of vehicles to fill the reservation. They then let everyone stand in line without letting us know what was happening. The two women at the front desk were giggling and using their phones without a care in the world. It took just under an hour to get to get a vehicle when we had just one person in front of us in line. They were offering electric cars without any knowledge if we'd be able to charge them or utility vans. What an absolute joke. read more

Worst place to rent a car from. Beware hidden fees, I've never seen such an upcharge in my life. They charge over $90 just to park the car and its not optional. Oh and I had to drive past the parking spot so it's not a convenience fee.. also don't return late, they don't care even it's a minute past the return time you'll see not one, not two, but three forms of late fees. Mine were 37.50 for being late past the hour, 100 for being late past the day, and another 60 Their troubles. Yes so $200 late fee hidden in your receipt amongst different names. Save yourself the headache and use anyone else, I've had good experiences with enterprise, but honestly save yourself the headache and go to anyone else. read more

I was given a electric car not by my request it was the most terrifying experience ever been driving 50 years without a accident I was never given any instructions because would declined immediately it was snowy and ice conditions and I was visiting in a rural area I ran out of electric while driving on Xmas had to disrupt my whole family to find a station I only drive the car probably 30 miles after picking up the car not explaining to people the deference between electric and gas car could of had deadly consequences I'm so mad that my life was put in harms way I was told I got the mangers special so simply said ok I had never rented a car and told them that boy did they jump on that I guess my main reason for commenting is to prevent a serious accident happening to a unsuspecting driver of these cars there is a huge different especially in winter conditions it handles 100 percent different also I was given absolutely no warning I hope my post changes budgets handling of giving these cars to people who didn't request them and especially not given any direction during my stay I had to have my daughter pick me up cause I was petrified to drive it I'm a seasoned excellent driver and spent most of my life driving upstate never had any issues driving any car suv or truck read more

Budget took advantage of me because I had to book a car rental at the last minute due to my father passing away. I paid over $1,100 for 4 days for the worst rental car I've ever driven. The gas tank was at 3/4 of a tank, tire pressure light was on, it was filthy and didn't have Apple CarPlay or navigation. I made 2 attempts to call customer service twice but ended up on hold for for over an hour and I finally had to hang up. I emailed them when I returned and all I got back from them was that they appreciate my input. I'll never rent from Avis/budget ever again. read more

Do not rent from Budget Albany , NY unless you have back up plans if you have an emergency. Our rental car broke down and the Good Samaritan's that stopped and pushed it out of intersection could not get it running at 10:00 am. We called the 800 number on the Budget brochure, we told them we were there for a wedding that afternoon and asked for a time estimate. They said they could not give us one. We asked if we could have family members pick us up and go to wedding. They said we would be liable for anything that may happen to the car if we left. We then waited outside the car for 3 1/2 hours. Finally a tow truck picked us up and drove us the hour and a half back to the airport, where we had to pick up another car and drive an hour and a half back to our location. Budget at the airport took no responsibility, did not apologize, and acted upset that they had been waiting for us all morning. They blamed it all on the 800 number people and that we would have to take it up with them. In the meantime we missed the reason we were even in New York, my nieces wedding. I have attempted to notify Budget twice with no response. I will never be running from budget or Avis again. You've been warned. read more

I came to New York due to a sick family member. Rented a Ford Explorer from budget at Albany Airport. Now the roads are icy and it's been raining and snowing, and I really didn't think I would have to check the safety of the vehicle that I rented. The rear tires are completely bald, and the windshield wipers don't work.. they turn on, but no fluid comes out of them. So I went to the store and bought a bottle of windshield washer fluid thinking that it was just empty, but no it was full it just doesn't squirt onto the windshield. Very disappointed, and feeling unsafe. I don't even think the tires will pass inspection. read more

Apparently reserving a specific type of vehicle (12 passenger van), holding it with a credit card, and having a confirmation number means nothing to Budget Car Rental. Their response after driving all the way there was "Oh, I guess it wasn't returned". REALLY?? They couldn't give us a phone call or anything? They "nicely" offered 2 7-passenger vans instead. If I had wanted 7 passenger vans, I would have reserved those originally! I will never use them again. They were rude, unhelpful, and more expensive than other companies. I only went with them originally because they had a 12 passenger . . . and that obviously didn't work out well! read more

Stay away from this budget location. My husband rented a car using a company discount and returned the car early two days before Christmas. He was charged an additional $100 dollars when we returned the car (the car was only $100 to begin with). Like any sane person he went to ask the manager what the additional charge was for. Rudest "customer service" experience I'd ever had in my 30 years of the life. The manager, Kyle Ronda, was a condescending jerk. Told my husband it was his fault that he hadn't read the terms and agreements and that this happens all the time. Says its their policy to charge people an extra 100 bucks for returning the car early but he'd waive it as a one time favor. I'm ticked at my husband, telling him this is why we should stick with the company we usually use, then Kyle butts in and says "You can have this conversation in private but if you continue to talk about this I'm not going to waive the fee for your." Wow. Just like threatened to not waive the fee unless we allowed him to censor our conversation - between the two of us - in a public place. This guy shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the public. I told him to shove and he then flounces off in a huff "fine I'm not waiving it" as though he's God. I mean what a prick. I wasn't even talking to him! We called the corporate office where they promptly refunded the fee and told us that it was actually a mistaken charge. Needless to say will never be renting from them again. Budget lost our business for life. Also did a little googling on this manager and some interesting stuff popped up - Budget should watch their cash registers around Kyle. read more

If I was able to give negative stars I would. I rented a budget car through Costco about 6 months ago for a great rate. The week before my flight to Albany New York I was trying to get a hold of the front desk to add to my current reservation. I was unable to get a hold of anybody and kept getting reverted to budgets central call station. Central was not able to help me besides give me false information. My flight was delayed in Lax and my car pick up was around the time budget was closing. Which on the Cisco travel website they said that you were able to pick up your car at anytime you want. Another false statement. So I try call budget from desk in Albany while I'm delayed in LAX earlier that day. I was unable to get through and once agin talking to someone at the central call station. I told them my situation and letting them them know we are delayed. Which they already should know because they have my flight information. I was told they put a message on my account and as long as I'm on my same flight number that the front desk in Albany New York will stay open for us. Another false statement. So we fly into Albany New York late like I explained and low and behold the front desk was closed. Me and three other family's standing there with our kids and no rental car service. The only place open was hertz and they did an excellent job helping us. I call budget the next day to talk to someone and the best part happens. They never even had a mini van that I rented 6 months ago and could not accommodate a larger vehicle for all my kids and luggage. They wanted me to keep calling back everyday and see if They had a mini van or larger So I extended my business with hertz and they honored my price that I had with budget plus about 150 bucks. I would highly recommend you not booking with budget. I am currently trying to get a hold of a manager of some sort but keep getting placed on hold for hours. read more

I will never be using Budget Car Rental again after this experience. The Budget employees behind the counter claimed that they did not have the "class" of car I reserved and that I would have to pay DOUBLE my current rate in upgrade fees to get a car. I argued with them for a long period of time, but they refused to remove the upgrade fees. I had to leave the airport to not miss the wedding I was attending and ended up paying $10 extra per day. After the experience, I called Budget's customer service, and they claimed that the employees in Albany violated their own policies but refused to refund the upgrade fees. The customer service from Budget makes me want to never deal with them again. read more
