We rented mid size SUV near the end of February 26 for ten days. Pickup was quick and easy, conveniently in airport. Drop off was easy too with a key drop box. Our only complaint was we thought the car could have been cleaner but no big deal overall a good experience! read more

Visited this location today and saw Larry to add a driver on my rental car. When I approached the counter I stated that I needed to add a driver and he shook his head at me and said, "I'm trying to clean cars and I've been doing this stuff all day..." That wasn't really polite or professional in my opinion and this will be my last visit to this location. When I obtained my vehicle, I got it from the location in Chandler and the guy there was nice and efficient so I'll likely stick to that location. I don't know why employees of places think attitude and lack of professionalism is ok. It's not. Now I know why this location has a 1.5 star rating on Yelp. On May 11th, 2023 I reserved a moving truck for Saturday May 20th, 2023. I received confirmation paperwork, and a letter regarding the insurance coverage I purchase. I was all set and ready to pick up the truck Saturday to move. Well I just received a message from location (on May 15th) , stating they will not have a truck for me, they are overbooked and I can call back if I want to. When I call back, I get "we don't have trucks, we are short in the valley and you are out". I called customer service to be treated with even less concern and told a manager will call me back in 2 days!!!!! I have no truck to move this weekend, and this company could care less. I reserved this truck through Groupon and would bet that is why I was kick. They needed the truck for someone who did not receive a small discount (coating their pockets more). I wouldn't recommend to get a rental car at this location because I was told that I would only be charged $273.00 dollars and to find out I was overcharged $500 in my account for two free days and I was supposed to be charged for two days only and it didn't go as told. The staff person here was unaccommodating and a bit rude. We arrived to drop off the car around 3:30 (closes at 4 PM on Sat). Upon inspecting the car, he stated the tank was not full; however, we filled our car up approx 10 minutes before we arrived. My friends went to fill up the tank with under a dollars worth of gas...while I stayed at the rental office. The staff person stated to me that my friends had to be back by 4 PM or else we'd have to return it the next day. This was all for just a few cents of gas.... I'll probably exclusively rent from Enterprise now. I've never had this sort of issue there. Plus, Avis does not provide complimentary rides, even short distances away, when dropping off the car. I didn't think the Denver airport location could ever look good....then I picked up from here. I was scolded and told to have a seat. I was about 30 minutes early to pick up my rental. Umm what. I sat quietly. I saw 2 customers come through that time. Neither happy with this location. I asked to have pre paid fuel added (wasn't even offered it, 1st time a location didn't try to offer any upcharge, employee seemed annoyed by everything anyhow) and it seemed to be the most heinous thing I could have asked him to do. He begrudgingly added it. I was given a filthy Chevrolet Impala. The dirtiest vehicle I've ever rented from budget in the 6 years I've rented while in Arizona. I would never recommend this location to anyone. I'll stick to the Sun City location. That man is very kind and knows good customer service. read more

This is a Review for https://www.budget.com. I was a victim of a Bait & switch. I needed to rent a vehicle that could hold 7 people. I picked a cadillac escalade and used Budgets "PayNow" and saved a few bucks. I did everything online, reserved the car and paid. My email confirmation said I rented a Jeep Wrangler.- I NEVER even looked at that vehicle. WTF. Long story short after calling Customer service 1 min after confirmation, they said I had to pay $50 to cancel the reservation or $922 to upgrade to a cadillac escalade. I prepaid for a one-day rental. When I returned the car, it seemed strange to me that the counter employee did not give me any sort of receipt. I was waiting for my ride for 15 minutes and did not see an email receipt, so I went back in to ask for a receipt. I was given a print out that showed the correct $0 balance for prepaid rental. I am glad I did, because I received an additional charge the next day for an extra day. I called Customer Service at 800-621-2844 and was told I will receive a refund for the additional charge. This is the first time I rented from Budget in years, after previous bad experiences. I will never rent from Budget Again. National and Enterprise are far from great, but they are much better. All rental companies are pretty horrible overall. I always spring for the extra liability waiver and roadside assistance. If you do not pay for these, they will overcharge you for every little problem with their cars. If you pay for these, it is the magic easy pass that gets you into a working car quickly if you have any problems. read more

I gave this branch a second chance and wish I had not. My first negative experience was relatively minor but annoying and then recently a shortage of cars, and a short memory, brought me back. This time I was charged nearly $300 for damage another customer caused, which was documented upon renting my vehicle. Seems, "this sometimes happens due to a lack of communication between the service center and the branch." Then fix this problem!! This is not something a reputable company attempts to explain away to their customers. THis is nearly $300! This is time spent I don't have arguing with my CC company and Budget! IMO, this is a scam! Sometimes you can just feel when a company cares very little for you and will do just about anything to separate customers from their money. These days, Budget is that company. read more

Reserved a truck from the Country Club location on Wednesday 11/20/19. Was told the day before that they would not have the 16 ft truck i reserved due to giving them all out to Amazon, Fed Ex, and UPS. Bob Johnson, the person I spoke with, stated that his solution was to give me a 12 ft truck instead. I advised him that I did not think that it was good policy that they give to big companies and not care about the little guy, to which he responded that it happens all the time and the truck was not guaranteed. After searching for other options, I decided to stay with Budget. I arrived the next morning at 845am when my reservation was for, and the truck was not there. The guy behind the counter advised that they would be there soon. After 9am they still were not there. Finally they showed up with 2 16ft trucks and a 12 ft truck. I was then told that I could not have one of those, even though he wrote that number on my paperwork. Only thing he said he would do was give me 200 free miles on there, as I complained that we would have to make 2 trips instead of 1 now. read more

I am sad that I have to give this review such a high rating. There should be a way to do negative stars. I have rented here several times because it is close to my house and every time has had some sort of issue but this last time was the final straw. Rental 1: Car a little dirty Rental 2: Car only had a 3/4 tank of gas but paper said it was full - was told if I brought it back full (which I did) that I would get a small refund - I got nothing. Rental 3: They didn't have the rental car ready and tried to give me a 4 seater instead of a mini-van. I got attitude from them when I said couldn't take it because it wouldn't fit my 6 adults. I waited for them to get my car ready and left 6 adults waiting to leave on a trip for 20 minutes past the time of my reservation. Rental 4: Showed up and was told I was early (12 minutes) so they didn't have my car yet. I asked if it would be there in 12 minutes and was told they didn't know because they forgot to order it the night before and just ordered it at 7 (it was almost 8). At 8 he informed me my car wouldn't be ready for an hours. He told me he could give me a different car and I could take it to the airport and exchange it - because that isn't a HUGE pain in the booty - if I wanted to rent at the airport, I would it is cheaper than renting at this location but not convenient at all. The end result was that I wanted a refund for my pre-paid reservation and this is where everything went down hill. He insisted that I had to call corporate because he couldn't do anything. He also told me that the only way I would get a full refund is if I lied to them and told them I didn't pass a credit check. He also told me it was my fault because I showed up early for my reservation (I am not sure how that impacts the car not arriving until at least 1 hour after my reservation time). Honestly I yelled at this guy. YELLED. How dare he insist that because they made a mistake I LIE to get a refund. Ridiculous. When I did call corporate from the dirty waiting room, I made sure to tell them what really happened and noted that i was informed I had to lie to get a refund. They were shocked and quickly gave me a full refund. My issue is not with budget but this location. I will never rent from here again and highly suggest you don't either. If they lack the integrity to be able to handle a refund without lying, what else do they lack integrity in? read more

On 02/02/2013, my family and I rented a car to go to Disneyland. The service and friendliness of the Budget Car Rental staff were outstanding! Dennis and Larry went the "extra mile" to get us into a vehicle that really fit our needs for the impending road-trip. We wound up renting a greenish colored Ford Flex, and were not disappointed. Just a heads up: If you are traveling southbound on Country Club Drive, the view of the Budget Rental Car sign near the street is blocked by a tree and a bus stop on the north side. If I could give this location zero stars I would! This is the worst customer service I have ever encountered! I had car trouble and couldn't get to the location until 5:35, five minutes after they would close, and the representative told me he wouldn't wait five minutes to close the store so I could pick up the vehicle I reserved. I work in healthcare and if I had the same attitude as this representative, people would sue us if we told them "I'm sorry I can't stay because the hospital closes at 5 o'clock, even though you are having a heart attack". This place is the worst. Whom ever created the "reservation" system needs a refresher on the word reservations. I reserved one truck and one car trailer 3 weeks in advance, upon arrival I was informed there are no trailers and the solution to this is, "I'll try to find one for you", like it's a favor or something! No asshats, I RESERVED a trailer. So I never did get the trailer, so I settled for a car dolly. In true Budget fashion, I go back to pick up the dolly and the connections are no good. Booked a moving truck rental online a week prior. Pulled up today to a front lot that was completely full. Larry, who was working the front desk, told me to park in the handicapped space. "It's not a valid space anyway; there's no sign on it." I didn't like this, but said nothing, as I still held out hope that the transaction would go well. (It didn't.) When I (politely) declined the damage protection (I confirmed with my insurance agent that I'd be covered), I was brusquely asked who my provider was, and given all kinds of warnings about liability. The tank was marked as full, and I got additional warnings about a $30 fee for returning the truck without a receipt from a gas station for diesel fuel. Annoying, but doable. I became worried when they pulled out a moving truck that was absolutely covered in dents, dings, and even a bit of graffiti. Larry marked damages off on the inspection checklist, and at least that hasn't been a problem (yet). Did the move, went to a gas station, noted the meter said 3/4 full, and had to do the math to figure out how much gas to buy (the diesel was pre-pay only). I had a great deal of trouble operating the pump - the automatic shutoff kept going off. When the attendant came out, he pointed out that he could see gasoline almost at the mouth of the tank, and that's why the shutoff was triggering. I confirmed this, confirmed my card would automatically get refunded for the un-dispensed fuel, made sure to gather a receipt, and headed back to Budget. When Larry got the receipts, he did some math regarding the number of miles driven vs. amount of gas purchased, and decided I was 4 gallons short. I explained (politely) that I *couldn't* fill the tank any further than I did, that this was confirmed by a gas station employee. Nope. I offered to pay for the 4 gallons of gas, but asked (politely) that the refueling charge be waived. Nope. He refused to close out the rental until I agreed to it. I asked if there was anyone I could talk to about this - he said I could talk to his boss about it on Monday (he'll supposedly be in the office for 3 hours that day). I don't care about 30 bucks. I care about not having an adversarial relationship with the companies I do business with. I care about not being made to worry about thousands of dollars in charges just because I (politely) declined their upsell. And I care about not being nickel-and-dimed. I had an additional rental lined up for a week from now with a different Budget office. (My girlfriend and I are moving into a house together.) Maybe they would be better than this location, but I'm not gonna risk it - gonna go cancel that now and take my business to the leading competitor. read more

This location is also an Avis car rental place and I'm glad it's required by law to not rent older, non functional cars, otherwise I may have had the same fate as those renting a moving truck. This is my second time renting a car for the weekend and I have to say the first company set the bar for my expectations. The older people here, I felt treated me differently because I'm an underage driver. It's OK though because I still got a good deal and I enjoyed driving the car they rented me. AVIS Car Rental, Bad Experience Location; 529 South Country Club Drive Mesa Az. 85210 Car number; 47240690 I pick a SUV up on Sunday Dec. 11, 2016 @ 1:00pm. The SUV was given to me wet from a rinse according to the Clerk. (I am thinking a soft water rinse that doesn't spot) So I drove the car 15 minutes to my house and then noticed that the SUV was filthy and needed a wash especially since it was maroon in color. Further observations: The vehicle interior smelled unpleasant. The interior needed vacuuming and wiping down on the arm rest ect. I check the tire pressure since I was driving to California. Tire pressures were; 42, 38, 38, and 36 psig. All tires were over pressure and not at the door sticker recommended pressure and none of them matching. I adjusted all the tires to the door sticker pressure. This tire pressure issue is dangerous. A previous car I rented at this location had the maximum tire pressure on all the tires. This shows a lack of training and general vehicle knowledge. I lifted the hood and looked at the window washer fluid level. It was empty. I called Customer Service at 2:05 Dec. 11, 2016. Stated all the above problems and made the request that AVIS pay for a car wash before I continued with my trip. My request was denied by Sandy the customer service agent. She said all I could do was exchange the car. The only place I could do that on Sunday afternoon was Sky Harbor Airport. This was not a good option as it would consume 2 hours of my time. So I had the SUV washed and vacuumed at my expense. Drove to California and turned it in the next day. On the way to California I started getting headaches which I am not prone to. I had the vent on internal recycle and the windows up. I changed the air source to outside and cracked the passenger window an inch. The headache went away. I suspect there is and engine compartment leak into the cabin area on this particular SUV. Overall I am sure that AVIS at their Airport location is a class outfit. It appears that this satellite location is not under their quality control nor do they audit the location to check on the quality. I have switched back to my previous rental company. I also was charged the additional expense of a one way trip by not driving this vehicle back to Arizona. read more

I had a long phone conversation with budget to make sure their car carrier could haul one of my import classic cars across country for our move. We got the green light and our reservation was complete. Awesome! Moving day came and I received a phone call early in the day that my vehicle and car carrier were ready for pickup. I thought, great I can pick it up a little early from my reservation time. I received another call an hour later from them, sounding very annoyed, saying that I better come pick up my truck because they are closing in an hour (not the time listed everywhere). I go rush to pick it up since I don't want to lose my reservation. I get there and no one comes to the front for 10 mins. A man comes to the front and starts my paperwork. There must have been notes on my reservation about the classic car because he starts questioning me about it and ends up saying it's not on "his" pre-approved list and denies me my reservation. I get on the phone with budget to try to figure out what's going on. While on hold with budget, another guy comes in and is concerned with a giant heat crack that has developed on his windshield. The budget guy tells him that it's not his problem and should drive it back to California to the budget location it came from (which it is illegal and dangerous to drive with a crack that big). He would however take it as a drop off and charge him for the window and for another rental. The budget people on the phone didn't know what the problem was and even they couldn't get this budget guy to release the car carrier to me. He basically told me he was kicking me out to close the store early unless I wanted to make another reservation for just the truck at a higher price. I had no choice at this point, I had to have something to transport my things. We ended up staying in town that night and going to another budget to get the car carrier and there was not a single problem there. It was a bit more expensive but we got the car carrier as an add on to our reservation in less than 10 mins with no hassle. I'm never going back to this budget and would highly recommend you stay clear of this one unless you need something extremely simple. read more

I had the absolute worst experience. I was at my car dealership getting serviced and it became apparent I would have to leave my car there for a few days. I decided to get a rental for a week to try out a new car I have been thinking of getting. I started feeling ill at the car dealership, but got a ride to the Budget rental center at the Honolulu International Airport to pick up my car and drive home. Budget's website said it was not too busy at the time I made my reservation. I was charged in full upon making the online reservation. By the time I got to Budget and was dropped off, it was clear the website was just making up facts to get people to its counters. There were at least 30 people in line ahead of me. I started to feel like I was having an asthma attack and had to go outside to sit down. My phone was about to die.. I had to get a car right away. I called BUDGET's customer service and said I needed to cancel my rental because I was very ill, my phone was dying, I could not breathe, and needed to get a car without having to wait in line for two hours. I cannot believe the person who I was talking to. He actually tried to get me to modify my contract instead of cancelling. Then he got annoyed when I said please god help me I am having a hard time breathing and I need to cancel my reservation and get a car from one of the EMPTY kiosks surrounding Budget before my phone dies. Then he put me on hold for at least 10 minutes until, guess what? my phone died. After this,no return phone call, no email, no text, nothing. Here is my problem: Knowing I was ill and in physical distress, and my phone was about to die, Budget (1) insisted on trying to talk me out of cancelling my rental; then (2) put me on hold until my phone died, then (3) made no attempt to follow up. I left a complaint with Budget on Thursday, and waited to hear back. Budget said it would get back to me within 72 hours. Hearing nothing by Sunday, I finally picket up my car from Budget when I was physically able. Today, FOUR DAYS after submitting my initial complaint (i.e. more than 72 hours), I heard back from Budget. This "response" consisted of Budget saying it noticed my car was rented, and noting that my rental agreement was not cancelled. Budget apologizes for any "misunderstanding," thanked me for my patience, and apologizes for "inconvenience." Incredible. I responded to Budget that yes I know my car rental was not cancelled, since THAT IS WHAT I WAS COMPLAINING ABOUT, AMONG OTHER THINGS. Second, I picked up the car because Budget didn't cancel the reservation and I was losing the use of the days I had prepaid for. Third, I am still outraged by their customer service. I am disgusted with the customer service I received from Budget, and want people to know that this is how they treat people when they really need help. read more

When I came in to pick up the car from the rental site at the airport, there was nothing left, but an F150 truck. Mind you, I had booked and paid in advance for my rental a month in advance. I was not shown what the vehicle looked like. I did not know it was a big truck. Airport rentals are not picked up in the same location as the rental office. Since it was 2AM, I agreed to take the truck. I tried to manage with the truck, but it was very uncomfortable. I called the following day and Budget told me to go to the nearest location and exchange the car. I was given another car. When it came to returning the car, I called to find out if it could dropped at another location other than the airport. I was told of the nearest address of a Budget location near me. When I arrived at the Budget in Mesa, the gentleman came outside, looked at my agreement, and did an inspection. He then drove the car to the lot and told me to meet him inside. At that point, he said that I owed $25.00 for dropping the car in another location. He then added that I had to pay $7.00 tax. So, I said to the gentleman, I will drive to the airport instead and avoid these fees, to which I was told that I could not drive the car because he had already closed out the agreement. I was not asked before closing the agreement, if I wanted the option to take the car back. In addition, I was not informed on the phone that there would be a fee in the first place. I tried to call Budget two times about this matter, and I have gotten no help. I will not use their company again. read more

My wife won a free four day rental from Budget during a City of Mesa employee benefits event. The card clipped to the employee network paperwork has the name of the regional manager/Global travel & partnerships Greg Shadel. Mr. Shadel hand wrote on his business card '4 day rental W/ Budget". Today my wife and I went to the Budget location on Country club and & Broadway in Mesa. The counter guy was not excited to see me. He said I should have reserved on line but he would do it as a special favor. Like he was digging a hole or something. There was another guy sitting on a chair across the room looking at me. I handed the guy the card with the 4 day rental info written on it. He ripped the card off the Employee network paperwork like it was trash. He said it was no good. It does not say 'Free rental" on it. The unknown guy in the room who stuck his nose in my business agreed with him. Big deal. Two morons agree. An idiot could see that the regional manager meant free but did not write it on the card. So I suggested he call the man and get the verification. He refused. His attitude suggested I was trying to scam him. The guy seated across the room put his two cents in as well which was not welcome. It only added to an already bad situation. The entire incident solicited a serious response from me and along with that came some well deserved four letter words and a few pay back insults aimed at the over weight man giving me a hard time. FYI-The guy at Budget quoted me for a 4 door pick up $292.00. Not for the weekend. A day. I was shocked. Let it be known we always rent from Enterprise but free is free so we felt saving some money would be good and better spent during our planned trip out of town. But what a mistake it was to go to this location. So I made a call to Mr Shadel. Not in the office but I was given his number. Left him a message. He probably won't call which would not be a surprise. Free or not I will not rent from Budget or Avis. Such terrible customer service. I went right to Enterprise and rented two four door trucks for the 18th of November. The amount to rent from them. Pick up Saturday return Monday. $180.00 total per rental. Heck of a deal. $292 a day at Budget. They can stick that where the sun don't shine. Guess that's why Budget/Avis is a bottom feeder. read more
