    I wish that I could give 0 stars. BEWARE! This was the absolute worst experience I have ever had renting a car. They rented me a car that was falling apart. When I walked out of my office, the bumper had fallen off due to disintegrated hooks. The tow truck took over 4 hours to come pick up the car, the next Enterprise had me wait another 30 minutes to get a disgustingly dirty car. The Queen Creek manager did upgrade me and apologize for the inconvenience. Fast forward a couple of months and they are attempting to charge me $6,000 dollars for the bumper that fell off. DO NOT RENT FROM ENTERPRISE.

    Any chance there's a shuttle to this location from Mesa Gateway airport?

    I've seen them give rides to customers dropping off vehicles - not sure about pick-ups, though. Give them a call and inquire - I rent from them multiple times per year, and they're always fantastic!

A nice lady helped me with my pre-planned reservation- giving me the choice of several car models based on my needs. I went with an economical sedan with good MPG, plenty of legroom and trunk space. I was handed the keys and asked to walk down to their on-site lot to retrieve the car. As a National Club member it appeared that this location did have the service booth to grab your car and bypass the counter but Covid-19 has changed that for now. You must go into the terminal to get your car. I was a little bit underwhelmed with the car- it had over 30,000 miles and was pretty dirty inside and out. Again, I'd imagine the virus is keeping more staff from being on site and keeping up with regular cleanings, etc. There were nicks, dents and scratches along the car's body so I made sure to snap a few pics and keep them documented. Later, after returning the car I realized very little attention was given for damage checks (guess they're looking for major body damage). On all occasions while working with a National representative on-site they were polite and helpful. The both wore masks. I feel the prices are fair with National- and it helps that I have a corporate account to attach to as well. They offer roadside assistance for free and there are upgrades such as added insurance, GPS, satellite radio, car seat, etc. Each one comes with an additional daily cost of course but at least those options are available. The return process was simple enough- again the pandemic changed things up a bit. Drive into the return lot, park the car, walk to the lot's service office and hand in your keys. They charge the card on file and hand you a receipt. Super easy.

However, it was delayed and give our 5 suitcases Syed offer us another car to keep us happy. I was pretty flexible in what we drove with a few exceptions (of course my girl would define it as not-flexible). Syed was vital in ensuring we got into a car quickly and one that we liked. I had rented year and years at Hertz: however decided to try Alamo. I have to say i'm Impressed. The variety of cars in the fleet was great and the key folks I spoke with were very helpful. Agent greeted me and said "oh I see you have a profile with us already so this will be fast. Let me just verify this license first with my manager." What? What do you need to verify? You have cut your license so I'm not sure it's valid What are you talking about? I trimmed a millimeter off the edge of the lamination so that it would fit in my wallet. I didn't cut my license. The entire license is still there. And it's still valid. Oh, I'm sure this won't be a problem. We just like full transparency in advance with our customers. Umm, Full transparency was 2000 miles ago. Not When I'm standing at the counter to pick up my car and it's 104° outside and you're telling me you're not going to give me a car and I'm going to have to hitchhike. That is not transparency. Oh, I'm sure it won't be a problem, sir Returns from the back office. It's a problem. Manager said no. So you're telling me I cannot pick up my rental car. You have my profile. I was just here six months ago. Why was This not a problem then? Well, that agent was probably just trying to be nice to you, sir Well, I'm asking you to be nice to me one more time please. I'm far from home, don't know anybody here and need a car. Sorry, there's nothing I can do. Corporate rules. So I left and went to the Hertz counter, they had no cars available. Great. Thank God for Avis, the counter two doors down. They had a car and had no problem with my drivers license. Had Avis not had any cars available, I would've been stranded. And Alamo could not have cared less. I would say, I will never rent another car from Alamo ever again. But apparently, that's not an option.. They don't accept valid drivers licenses with trimmed edges along the edge of the lamination. Lest you think I'm leaving something out, I have since showed my license to every person I've met on this trip and told this story to (which is anybody who would listen). And they all laughed. Nobody could find anything a reasonable person would consider wrong with that license. You can bet I will never forget the Alamo. And I strongly suggest you do likewise. PS: Alamo customer service...please don't bother responding to this review. There is nothing you can say to reassure me into taking another risk like that on Alamo. It was just way too close of a call for me to ever roll those dice on you again.

    Update: After I contacted Hertz's customer service team…read moredirectly, they got back to me fairly quickly. They reviewed the situation and agreed to honor the terms of my original reservation, even though that agreement was never fulfilled because of communication issues between locations. While I did have to start a new rental agreement at a higher cost at the time, I appreciate that someone on their team stepped up and made things right on the back end. The follow-up was professional, and it's clear that once it reached the right people, they took the matter seriously. The overall experience was frustrating--but I do believe in giving credit where it's due. I've updated my review to reflect the resolution and hope the Mesa location takes this as a chance to improve how they handle customer communication moving forward. Original: I hate leaving reviews like this. I'd rather just quietly not return--but I hope sharing my experience helps someone else avoid the mess I went through. I had a prepaid reservation at this Mesa Hertz location for a weeklong rental starting May 30, 2025. Everything was booked in advance, confirmed, and priced fairly. But my flight got delayed and rerouted to Phoenix, so I called the Mesa branch around 11 PM to ask if I could still pick up the car a few minutes after their 11:30 PM closing time. The person on the phone said no, after-hours pickup isn't available. Okay--disappointing, but I understood. Then that same person called me back a few minutes later and told me I could pick up the rental at Phoenix Sky Harbor Hertz instead, and that they would just cancel the Mesa reservation. That seemed helpful, so I followed their instructions and headed to the Phoenix Hertz location. Except... they had no idea what I was talking about. There was no reservation transfer, and they couldn't cancel or override anything because the record still showed as active in Mesa. I was left stranded close to midnight--with my 75-year-old mother--and no rental car. Thankfully, the Phoenix agent Gabriel was kind, clear, and tried to help even though he couldn't override the system. That kind of service should be the standard. The next day, I went to Mesa to try and pick up my original rental. Instead, I was met by Matt, the assistant manager, who told me the reservation had already been canceled overnight. When I tried to explain that I had called the night before and even left a voicemail, he didn't bother to look into it--didn't check logs, notes, or try to verify who had spoken to me. He just repeated "There's nothing I can do. Call customer service." No effort. No empathy. Just passing the problem along. I ended up having to pay out of pocket for an emergency rental, then extend it through the week, which cost me nearly double what I had originally prepaid. Not because of anything I did wrong--but because someone at Mesa gave me bad info and no one else at Hertz took ownership. I usually stick with a consistent set of companies--my hotel, rental, and credit card brands are all chosen for a reason. But this experience has made me rethink keeping Hertz in that mix, unless they make this right. I've filed a formal complaint and am sharing this on other platforms. I'll gladly update this review if Hertz follows up and resolves it properly.

They did not want to take any blame and unacceptable resolution that became my problem and not theirs as they did not seem concerned. Would recommend not renting with them as the reviews are not good with similar issues. I usually use National and will continue even if cost is higher. The Sky Harbor supervisor and team ended up being helpful but would avoid Mesa Gateway Hertz.

I recently learned that if you…read morehave the opportunity to purchase tickets at the counter, you can save roughly $40 per round trip which is essentially the convenience/admin fee online, but there are specific parameters on how to do so... It has to be during their allotted or scheduled hours for the airport Which is extremely limited and as of this review is from 12:00 - 1:00 pm. Every other day they are considered "closed". I did inquire with the agent if it really was only on Sundays, which she said they can sometimes do it during other hours right before or after a flight, but not guaranteed and depends whose working that day. Secondly, though they have various lines and have signs saying "All Services", you have to go to the very end, along the wall for tickets and oddly enough there is no sign. Because the hours are so limited, travelers will book multiple sets of tickets at once and their system or process is not built around efficiency, We had about 10 or so people ahead of us and were in line for almost an hour. Again, some of these travelers were booking numerous tickets, so it would take longer, but they really don't set anyone up for success and you have to provide all the standard info you need for a flight, but verbally then need to confirm. So as you can imagine, not the quickest process. It would make a lot more sense if they have forms that could be prefilled to help streamline the process. We had three round trip tickets to book so saved about $120 for our hour of time, was it worth it? In this particular case, yes, but time is money too, so one ticket, maybe not, but it's all relative. You do also have to pay for parking, which luckily is not too steep in Mesa and was a few bucks for the hour. I do not quite understand why more work for the staff leads to more affordable or cheaper tickets, but is an option for those traveling and if you have many tickets to book!

    One Star (Would Give Zero if I Could)…read more I've never experienced such blatant dishonesty and manipulation from a company--until I rented from Enterprise Rent-A-Car. My partner and I are being wrongfully accused of causing "discoloration" to the rear bumper and front passenger fender of a vehicle we rented. According to Enterprise, this supposed "damage" was due to a repaint job, which is absolutely false. We did not alter the car in any way. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of deleting the photos I took before driving off the lot--photos that clearly would have shown the car's condition. Enterprise has now taken full advantage of that, and despite having no actual proof that we caused any damage, they've moved forward with a claim. Their entire case hinges on the fact that we didn't opt for their insurance coverage--an obvious play to squeeze more money from customers who decline their overpriced add-ons. I've been forced to hire legal representation and will be pursuing litigation. Whether it's in small claims court or the Arizona Supreme Court, Enterprise--specifically manager Cynthia--will have to explain their actions in front of a judge. This is not just about money. This is about standing up to a company that is clearly trying to scam honest people who trusted them. I'm a young professional just trying to stay afloat, and Enterprise has kicked me while I'm down. I've never felt more violated by a business. I'll spend every last penny fighting this before I let Enterprise take one more hard-earned dollar from me. To anyone reading this: document everything.
