I booked a cargo van 2 months prior to my move and turned up only to be told that the cargo van was not available and the van that was available the guys said they wouldn't let me drive. I was then offered to go to St. Louis in an unsavory area to pick up a van that I didn't reserve. Then they charged me $150 as a no show. Terrible business. Go to new U-Haul next to Walmart. Never rent from Budget, they called me 18 hours before we leave for vacation and tell us our 15 passenger van had a recall and they don't have any available. They told me to call customer support to see if they could help. After talking with two people that could barely speak English they told me there were no cars available in the whole St. Louis area that were anywhere near the size I needed. So now I'm scrambling to find another rental on Labor Day weekend. Horrible customer service. read more

The only reason I am giving this location 1 star is there is not an option for zero. I rented a car for two months, my company car is being repaired. Pick up was no problem, the lady at the counter was beyond fantastic! Fast forward 6 weeks. First, i get a call from the "owner" of this location, threatening to have the car impounded because it was over due. I explained i had it until the end of the month, gave him my confirmation #. He did not apologize for the call, just blamed the lady at check in, saying she did it wrong. He called again a few days before car was due, making sure i was bringing it back. I took car back a day early because of his calls. I return call and he tells me he is charging $250 cleaning fee because he doesn't have a car wash. What? I have never had to clean a rental before returning. He then says it is full of dog hair. Wow! I dont even own a dog! i got scammed by budget at 5300 n. illinois in fairview hgts. i was encouraged to prepay to save time only to find out there are no refunds on prepaid cars when i returned the car one day early i was charged 376$for 3 days! i provided my own insurance! well over 125$ aday! the worn-out mazda i was given had 45,xxx miles on it and such filthy windows inside i could not see at nite! i could not open the hatch back even with the key! obviously this agency has a history of unhappy customers according to their reviews read more

I have rented a few times. The cars have never been cleaned for me. One car not only had mail in it but trash (literally) in the trunk! The passenger car door squeaks when you opened it. The dash board rattled the whole time. When I did the customer survey I mentioned my problems. They reached out to me but never followed through with what they said they would do. The desk person was not overly nice (I won't mention name). They have lost my business!! Don't rent from them!!! read more

I live in Kansas City and planned a trip for my best friend to come and see me. I sent him the money for a car rental at this location, including the $100 deposit. He prepaid several days in advance. He called customer service to make sure everything was good. They said all he had to do was pick up the car, everything was good. Was specifically told there was no further requirements. He tried to make the car available earlier in the day but was told 5:30pm was the absolute earliest the car would be made available to him. He shows up and is told by a rude desk girl that he needed another $100 on the deposit. I quickly sent it to him. Then she tells him he needs a credit check. He has a thin file, not bad credit, just not alot of credit established. Of course, he doesn't pass the check because of this. She says there is nothing they can do. Also, we don't know if he can get the full amount refunded because it's a cancelation. No, it's incompetence from Budget. First of all, you have the money! Why run a check which is only ran to prove someone can pay? We already paid! He paid extra for the insurance! There is no excuse. Now, our whole weekend is ruined because this is a Friday and they made us wait until almost closing time. We can't book a rental anywhere else unless we pay a ridiculous premium for late notice on a weekend. You guys ruined our trip in every way and we had better recieve ever penny back. I will make sure everybody I know never uses this service and I hope anyone that reads this review decides to go somewhere else. You're shameless crooks. read more

Love love love my experience I had with the staff and owner. He was nothing but friendly, patient and helpful. I would recommend this FAIRVIEW Heights location to you all. I was visiting out of town and he asked how my trip was. I forgot to fill the gas tank up all the way and he even gave me the opportunity to go fill it up and explained I would have to pay $10 a gallon if I didn't. He was awesome!!!! I will NEVER use Budget again. I made sure to make a reservation for a moving truck well in advance, about a month ago. I recieved a phone call yesterday evening from a Budget manager stating that he had just revieved an e-mail that there were no trucks available. He then proceeded to tell me that I needed to call the customer service number in my confirmation e-mail. I'm supposed to be packing the truck as I type this and leaving this afternoon. I recieved another phone call this morning from a Budget Customer Service manager informing me that there were no trucks within. 150 miles of my location. How do you even run a business this way!? I was never charged for anything, so that's one less issue I have to be concerned about but now I have no moving truck on the day I am supposed to be leaving! The owner should lose his Budget franchise. I rented from him cause the base rate was lower than other Budget locations closer to my home. I declined all the insurance, phone, and satellite radio. I waited for thirty minutes while he cleaned the van. It was minimally clean when I received it. The windows and windshield were dirty. There was a fast food drink cup left in the back. After I returned it he called me saying he going to charge me a $150 cleaning fee because it took him 45 minutes to clean it. About a month later I received a bill from Budget for $60. Everything on the bill was incorrect. It showed that I had accepted all the insurance, a telephone rental, roadside safety, and satellite radio. I called Budget's billing center. I learned the man (Mike) who rented me the van lowered the daily and weekly rates and added the insurance fees, telephone rental, roadside safety, and satellite radio because he receives a commission for selling those services. Unfortunately for him he could not do simple math because he was off by $60 which is why I received a bill. The lady on the phone removed the $60 charge said she would be escalating the issue to the district manager. Mike should have his franchise revoked for his fraudulent behavior. read more
