I was recently rear ended and my insurance sent me here for a rental. They could not have been nice enough or more efficient. My issue comes from today when I returned the car. Check in and out was a breeze. When I needed a ride to the auto shop comes my issue. They have a huge passenger van that the really needs a step ladder to get in. I hoisted myself up in which with two replacement knees not any easy feat. I went to buckle the seat belt and it broken. I slide over to the other side. We get there I slide back over and an can't get the door open. Another passenger had to open it for me. Not the driver! Getting out was very difficult to the point the passenger offered to help me. I did manage to sort of fall out and it the process re hurt my back which I'm already having treatments for. I did call and who ever answered the phone said someone would call me back??? He did say something to the effect because of the pandemic. I get it, I really do but if you have to use that ridiculously high van, get a step stool. Not acceptable! Service is never quick, doesn't matter the day doesn't matter the time. 2 people working isn't cutting it. They need an adjusted budget to support the demand, just never enough ppl. Starting to shift rentals away from enterprise purely because this location can't ever keep up. Renting a car has become a pain, wait time is entirely too long. Employees here said the Enterprise website does not communicate with their store and that they had to hold the many cars in their lot for other reservations. Weren't very helpful, either. Every time you book with them the customers are sent to a call center. The call center will tell you plenty of cars are available for rental, but when the customer gets there there is more than an hour wait for vehicles either to get cleaned or come back from a previous rental. They are not honest in the time frame of waiting. They offer no compensation for changed plans or the inconvenience of waiting hours and sometimes days for a rental. This has happened on more than one occasion and it doesn't matter if you are a club rewards member or not. read more

I've rented from enterprise several times before today they informed me I could not rent from them. Because I wanted to pay with a debit card and I needed a copy of a utility bill in my name. This was to assess my credit risk and know that I would not steal their car. I've always paid with a debit card in the past and they've never needed me to bring them a copy of a utilities bill. This is what happens when you let idiots with peasant brains, make policy decisions they try to get clever, and because they are dull-witted the rules stop making sense. Obviously it is very possible to pay a utility bill without actually living in a property. This is a ridiculous qualification to rent a car. I was also told that I couldn't use Apple Pay. I needed an old fashion major credit card with a chip because their readers are very old. They also will not take a check or money order or PayPal or Venmo. Don't go here it's a total pain in the ass if you're not a property owner from like the 1990s. read more

This location is only 2 miles from me. It's always clean and sales people always seem to be nice. I've never had an issue with a pick up or drop off. This time around I needed a car for a day, I reserved a compact car through unicorntre.dreamtrips.com It came to $27 for the day. Going directly through enterprise is way higher with the price. I called for a pick up, not 10 mins later the driver was calling to let me know he was outside. I wasn't even ready, thought they would be longer. Greeted at the door by a sales person and immediately assisted by another. They were out of compact cars, next available was a 2016 Ford Explorer. Update with no extra charge. Awesome! We did a quick walk around and I was good to go! Returning the car was basically the same process just in the reverse order. They checked the car, provided me with my charges and hit me a driver for my drop off. It's 1 guy there (I can't recall his name) but he is always helpful, eager to answer questions and has a smile each time I see him. At the end of the day... I will go back for a rental. Overall great experience. Requested a pick-up and was quoted 30 min. They arrived in about 50, so not too bad. Customer service was excellent after arriving at the storefront. The wait to get to an agent was about 5 min or so which was reasonable. My reservation was in place and my car was being washed while I completed the paperwork. Total time spent picking up the vehicle was reasonable. Car was clean and performed as expected. I received a follow up courtesy call the following day which was a nice touch. Only complaint, which is a small one, is that we did the walk around while the car was wet from the car wash on pickup. There was no way to see scratches or dents with water on the car so none were noted on pickup. After drying a few miles down the highway, quite a number of scratches and small dents became visible which then I worried about for the remainder of the trip. They didn't charge me any damage (which is good because I wasn't the cause of any of them) upon drop off but I would have worried a little less had that first inspection been a little more visible. Really wasn't a big deal, I am just a worrier. The ride home was ready to go when I was so I really appreciated that. I would definitely use them again in the future. read more

Don't rent here. They did not do a thorough inspection of a vehicle before I rented it. I got stuck paying for a broken seat adjuster I never touched for a car I only drove 5 hrs. Contacted care@enterprise.com but I am not hopeful. Already went through the dispute process and was denied because the damage wasn't on the last inspection. Just don't rent here. If they missed damage on mine they can miss it on yours. Middle seat belt broken, you can get stuck replacing. Hinge broken on the glovebox, you can get stuck paying. It will be your word against theirs. At this point I have no reason to lie. I already was told I had to pay or get sent to collections. This review won't change anything but hopefully save someone else for having to pay for their negligence. read more

The personnel at the O'Fallon IL. branch of Enterprise were very professional and personable. I needed to use a vehicle for a day to have the windshield replaced in my personal vehicle, (thanks to trucks who don't secure their loads). They were very nice and helped me get into a vehicle that suited my needs. Sadly that vehicle developed an unforeseeable problem but I was close enough to do a quick return, they helped me into another suitable vehicle in a courteous manner and remained friendly and professional. Over all I was very happy with their staff and the next time I need to rent a vehicle for a day or a week, I will use the O'Fallon branch again. I would like to have given them a 4 1/2 because as another reviewer mentioned, the van they used to pick me up had an incredibly high step to get in and I struggled to do so. But the staff deserves more than a 4 so they get a 5. read more

I was in an accident. My insurance set me up with enterprise car rental. Enterprise really wanted me to buy the extra coverage. So i caved and told them id prepay for 3 days and if i felt i needed more i would extend it. Basically just to shut the guy up. Come to find out they saved me the trouble and extended for me. Thanks enterprise for charging me for something i didnt ask for. I told them i wouldnt be paying for extra insurance when i didnt want it. They took the keys and said i wasnt aloud to have the vehicle until i paid it. Needless to say ill never do business with enterprise again read more

Apparently, the online reservation system has been greedily and inconsiderately configured to allow more reservations than they have cars. On a trip, I needed a rental car in an urgent situation, just for local travel for a day. I called the reservation number to see if they had anything available - sure did, and I gave them all the details, address, driver's licence number, etc. I got to the Enterprise site 15 minutes later and they said oh sorry we don't have a car available, nothing at all, we were going to call. If they had just said no right away, okay. But the availability for a rental should have been accurate, they wasted a half hour of my time on a difficult day. read more

This location actually isn't pretty bad. I've used this location in the past year to pick up and drop off my rental cars. They are pretty good with the door-to-door service too. They are always super busy and running around like maniacs, but they do keep apologizing for the wait. The last time I picked up a car from here, the car looked fine to me, but I guess the guy wasn't very happy with how it had been vacuumed, so he had it sent back to get it re-done before I left. I was going to tell him that it really wasn't going to matter since I was going to have it for at least six months...but before I could open my mouth, the car had already disappeared. My account got pretty complicated over those six months when I finally got back, but the guys took time to answer all my questions about the final bill before it got sent back to my company. *Super busy. *Not open on Sundays. read more

Had an emergency come up 11/11 and needed a car that morning. I booked a reservation online and headed to Enterprise an hour later. The woman informed me because I just did a reservation, the car I chose wasn't available at the time and I would either have to wait later in the day or pay an extra $10 to upgrade. 100% understandable, so I paid additional because I needed to be somewhere soon. She show me the car, which was a red Hyundai Elantra, and from the exterior was fine besides a scratch on the passenger door that appeared to had been side swiped. I opened the door and instantly there was a loud marijuana smell. I looked inside and the seats were badly stained. It was as if someone just hopped out this car from a week of partying and she gave it to me. The car was not cleaned before I was assigned to it. I informed the blonde about the interior and she stated she couldn't smell anything due to her previously having Covid...and didn't say anything about the seats. She gave me this blank stare and I asked if there was another vehicle I could get and she stated no. However the lot was full of rentals of what appeared to be a slow day. No stars! I spoke with this office the day before the rental was supposed to start as it was a Saturday and I wanted to make sure they would be there. Our flight landed at 4:40 and I was told they don't close up until 6 pm. They were not there. I got on the phone and 3 different level of people at enterprise saw my reservation with my confirmation number but could not tell me why they were not there. We had to spend $170 for a cab to get to Chesterfield MO. Don't count on them for a car at Mid America Airport in Mascoutah IL even if they tell you they service them and you have a confirmation # they tell you they see in their system. They won't even refund the cab fare. The cab driver says it happens all the time so I guess they can't refund everyone read more

I need to rent cars weekly for company business. I tried this location and first rental the car was dirty and needed cleaning they said. I waited for 30 plus minutes and then they gave me a car that was sitting out front the entire time. The car was dirty, tired of waiting I took it. I scrubbed windows 3 times and it wouldn't come off. They comped the rental so I thought maybe it was just a bad day. I rent 2 other times and no worries... then I rented 4th time and given dirty car that was empty and windows were filthy. I had to go so I stopped and paid $10 for glass cleaner and wipes for the interior oh and for gas. Turns out windows had been tinted and the marks on it was from someone peeling off the tint and leaving glue... on way home (60 miles on highway) I cracked windows to order a drink and windows wouldn't roll back up due to glue. Get back and they comped rental again. But asked how service was??? Why do I care about service when you can't produce a quality product? I complained not to ask me about service just give me clean car. read more

We were stuck between a rock and a hard place because we needed to rent a vehicle close to home when we were moving military bases. They ship our car overseas about 6-7 weeks before we get there. I looked online and was going to just rent it there, but there wasn't much available at the time. I figured a military discount might saves a few bucks. The price that's their special is higher than online and the "military discount" doesn't even cover tax. The guy that talked to us kept saying, "How about I give you this deal, today only....blah blah blah" and it was always more expensive then online. Absolutely horrible service and management with a "I don't give a crap" attitude! Took my reservation for a cargo van and then called and told me they didn't have one a day before moving day! What exactly is the meaning of a reservation? "an arrangement to have something held for your use at a later time"...in case Enterprise employees don't understand this basic principle! I was screwed for an entire weekend of moving. Manager could care less and offered no, that's right, NO solutions, compensations and the weakest apology I've ever heard. I'd have given it no stars if that was an option. I dropped off my car at the body shop and was told enterprise would have a rental waiting for me there at 8am. Instead, I was picked up by an enterprise employee who told me they were changing oil on a couple cars so he would take me there to wait. A car was not available for me until 10:10am. Others were waiting for cars also. The employees all were struggling to maintain a level of friendliness and professionalism, which they did, but it was a very unsatisfactory situation. Enterprise did a nice job of picking me up and getting me a rental. That's where the positives end. Where the experience went south was in their pushy selling of their rental insurance at $15 a day. I felt like it was really expensive but the salesman insisted I take it out and really didn't explain that their insurance was primarily a way to avoid filing a claim with "my" insurance in case an accident happened in their rental. Since I had just been in an accident, I was nervous about what would happen if the car was damaged while I was driving so I opted to do the added insurance. What a mistake and I advise anyone who has full coverage on their vehicle to NOT pay for the extra insurance. Actually, I would avoid Enterprise altogether!!!!! I ended up needing the car for 14 days while my car was being fixed so the cost of the insurance was over $200 for a car a barely drove over those 14 days. Once I spoke to my insurance company (Allstate), they informed me that I didn't need that insurance and that the rental would have been covered under my existing policy. They also said they have had other Allstate customers complain about this same issue with Enterprise. I called Enterprise and explained to them that it was not made clear in the sales pitch that their added insurance was there to avoid paying a deductible and filing a claim with my insurance in case of an accident and that my insurance would have covered the car. Heck, I payed almost $250 bucks to them for nothing, that was almost a deductible itself. I spoke to the manager and complained that I was mislead and felt a bit taken advantage of. They seemed understanding and said that they could credit me back $50 but that was it because the ticket was already closed out. I explained that I would take some responsibility for the misunderstanding so I would accept a refund for half the $250 they charged me. The manager on staff explained that he would need higher approval to refund that amount but he would have his supervisor contact me later that day to discuss what could be done regarding the refund. Of course, there was no call, it's been 5 days and I still haven't received a call. While you are on hold waiting to speak to someone, their voice over is telling you about how they care about their customers and their experience and how they are family owned and all that...what a crock!!! I will never give Enterprise my business again and will encourage others not to as well. read more

I've been renting there through my company for the past several years, picking up at least 8 times a year. The staff is always very courteous, the vehicles always clean and the service fast. They have gotten to know me well enough to know the types of vehicles that I am comfortable with. They go out of their way to make sure my 10 hour drives are pleasant. Made a reservation for a rental and was informed a credit card was needed while on the phone. I informed the member I recently have had issues with my credit card due to a name change and getting a new card. I was told that was fine and that we would figure it out when I arrived. Upon arriving on the day I made the same exact statement before beginning the process on which this member stated it was fine and we would figure it out. We went through the entire process and when the exact issue occurred she stated I need a physical credit card. I stated I could do be pay the total plus the $200 incidental hold now if necessary no go. I called my bank got the issue rectified and received new card information member stated I still needed a physical card. Mind you I previously have received a rental car through Enterprise without using a credit card. This was not my first time using enterprise but it will be my last. read more

I rented a car from Enterprise in Ballwin, MO after mine went into a body shop near there. Unfortunately, the Impala was an embarrassment to drive and had mechanical issues. That week I attempted to switch out cars using the St. Louis office for assistance. It was suggested I return to the office where I initially rented the car. I did not want to drive 40 minutes through city traffic again. Locally, no cars were available on that Friday. After a few days, I called the St. Louis office again and the agent contacted the O Fallon, IL branch and was told they had a car for me. I was at the branch within 15 minutes. When the branch manager found out I needed to switch the car out instead of doing a new rental agreement, he suddenly decided he had no cars available. I ended up going to the Enterprise branch office on S. Illinois St in Belleville, IL. The manager, Lee McCarthy, went above and beyond to make things right. He allowed me to switch out, apologized for the hassle given to me by O Fallon, and even gave me extra fuel. I am very pleased with the car I have now. Thank you Lee! read more

We experienced several small problems with the car, not mechanical, but late and not very clean. As it was just my husband and I we took the car as it was. The staff at pickup was very nice and sorry for the inconvenience. Upon return, there was a completely new staff (1 week later). I told them about the stains on the seat particularly the back seat which felt damp for several days. The new guys were appalled that we were given a car in this condition. They offered some perks for this and our next rental which I had not even asked for or expected. We have always liked Enterprise and will continued to do business with them. read more

In 2014 rented a van for vacation. Went to pick it up, it wasn't ready. We had to wait while it was cleaned. I don't remember how long we waited it far too long considering we were ready to get on the road. Not to mention, it was still dirty. The point of a reservation is to have the requested vehicle ready at said reservation time. That was my first experience with Hertz. Recently, I was in an accident and the rental being covered through the other driver's insurance. I was not happy to hear Hertz was the rental company but thought maybe it was an one-time incident and we will see. Everything was going smoothly until, upon Hertz's suggestion, to call a couple hours ahead of time to confirm reservation, no one answered the phone. I waited 15 min and called back and nothing. I don't know why during business hours the phone would go unanswered over a 15 min period but, it did. I immediately called the insurance company and told them no way. I am not renting a car from a business that I already had a bad experience with and now the phone isn't being answered on this occasion. I was not even going to take the chance at another bad experience because clearly something wasn't going right for them as they couldn't even answer the phone...twice. I have never submitted any sort of review, good or bad, on any company; that is how bad this experience has been, prompting me to take my precious time to recommend no one ever rent from this location; you've been warned. The absolute worst customer service of any company with which I've worked. They arranged a time to pick me up, 11:15. It is currently 11:40 as I type and they still haven't arrived. I called at 11:20 and spoke with Mike who was extremely unapologetic and rude; no customer service skills whatsoever. I called back and spoke with Dylon who understands customer service better and was very understanding; The driver did not arrive until approximately 11:45. If I could rate this location a zero, I would. Or more deserving would be a negative number. When the driver finally did arrive, he had his music blaring which he planned on continuing until I asked him to turn it off, and then drove in an extremely reckless manner. Absolutely the worst rental experience ever!!!!!! I rented a car just last week in another state from a different rental company, Alamo, and the experience was so much different, so much better.
