    Reviews aren't lying about 100 people in line at 8 am with 1 employee working. Extremely slow process to pick up car 30 min after they open

    HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH BUDGET. I booked a reservation online for the COUNTRYSIDE location, paid in full with their "pay ahead" feature, and received an email confirmation that my reservation was for the COUNTRYSIDE location. I called Countryside to confirm and to ask what I was required to bring with. I was informed that my reservation was automatically moved to the MIDWAY location because Countryside didn't have any available vehicles. Yet, I never received ANY NOTIFICATION that the location had changed. Can you imagine if I would've paid an Uber to go to that location, only to be told at THAT TIME that my reservation was moved without any notification to me. Then I asked what I needed to bring with me and I was told my drivers license and the card that I paid with. I took an uber to MIDWAY, only to be told they don't accept debit cards at that location and I couldn't rent the vehicle that I already paid for, and I had to take an uber back home and call for a refund. When I call for the refund, I'm told that the COUNTRYSIDE location would've accepted my debit card... you know, the location I reserved in the first place!!!! Now I have to wait 3-10 business days for my refund, I'm out $ I paid for 2 unnecessary uber rides, and no rental car. HORRIBLE SERVICE, BUDGET! ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE

    3 hour line at Budget. No lines at any other car rental company.

    If I could rate them a 0, I would. We arrived at Budget Midway Airport over an hour ago and will be in line for at least another hour. People have been waiting over three hours in the same line. They have one person working at the checkin desk. If you go upstairs to the fast break desk, there are three people sitting up there doing nothing. They will not help; they will not come downstairs to help check people in. It's the most ridiculous system I've ever seen, and we will never rent from Budget again. In addition to the long wait, the employees could not be more rude when we inquired for their assistance even to my daughter. THE WORST PART OF ALL THIS IS THAT THEY OFFER A SERVICE TO PREREGISTER BEFORE ARRIVAL....BUT YOU STILL HAVE TO WAIT IN LINE!

    Horrible is all I can say. I've tried this twice while visiting Chicago and it has just gotten worse. Service is terrible. We waited for 30 minutes for a car to be brought to us that we were continually told 5 more minutes. It's being cleaned. And as I am writing this, we are still waiting.

    Rented a car on 7/13/25, nobody at either desk and the only employee around refused to help for over 30 minutes.

We rented our car through Costco so when we got there we did not have to wait in the line downstairs, we went upstairs to the checkout and there was no line and it went very smooth. They did not have the Camry we were supposed to get, so instead they gave us a 4 door Jeep for the same price. It seemed like ok deal. Turns out the Jeep was a hybrid but the battery wasnt charged so it was like a normal car with small gas tank. We were not driving that much so it didnt matter. One thing specifically about Jeeps which I did not know, but should have expected, is the ride is pretty rough and bumpy. Now I know, I should not get one in the future. It was a nice looking car with plenty of space, just rough ride.

The guy at the counter had no empathy, sense of urgency or fux to give. It's one of those moments where you just exercise some patience because you still need a car. After waiting an hour, I was asked if a Mustang would be ok. At this point, I really want to break up with them so I tell them guy yes. Get to the adjacent garage and began to take note of the existing damage on the car. Nothing alarming but nothing I wanted attributed to me. The car hadn't been cleaned out, off and the windshield was really cloudy. No big deal but the windshield washing fluid was empty. So back inside I go to talk to Mr. Unbothered. The representative who tracks incoming cars, took it and washed it, filled the washer fluid and tried to make me feel a little better about the situation. When I was waiting, I asked the agent how I'd be compensated for my inconvenience. He shrugged his shoulders and said the car I was going to be put in was an upgrade. I'm not a Mustang person so this rang hollow. I then insisted that he adjust the rental time to only reflect the time I had the car. He agreed and went back to doing next to nothing. I had no issues returning the vehicle. As a rule, I take a picture of the fuel and miles to be able to confirm that I did refuel it and no surprise charges occur. Keep in mind when you are arriving or returning to allow time to take the shuttle back to the terminal. Customer service is minimal here. No one answers the phone when you call and the in person experience leave something to be desired. I do plan to use other car rental agencies in the future as I was not happy with the experience at this location.
