*COSTCO MEMBERS - BUYER BEWARE* This Budget Car Rental location in Fullerton, CA appears to be independently owned and operated by a person by the name of Niery, and unfortunately my experience was very disappointing. Upon returning the vehicle, we questioned several additional charges that appeared unnecessary and unclear. Instead of receiving a professional explanation, the conversation became argumentative. We later attempted to call to resolve the matter, but the call was disconnected, making it very difficult to address our concerns. We were also told that certain protections were included with the additional insurance coverage we purchased, only to later discover separate charges for roadside assistance. In addition, there were unexpected "sickness fees" and Toll Road charges added to the bill, despite the fact that we never used toll roads during the rental period. I ultimately had to verify this myself through etoll records using the vehicle's license plate information. To make matters worse, the vehicle was not properly cleaned when we picked it up. It had not been washed or vacuumed, which gave a poor first impression from the start. Overall, the customer service, communication, billing transparency, and vehicle condition did not meet expectations. Based on my experience, I would not rent from this Budget location again. read more

FRAUD ALERT ‼ Take these negative reviews seriously. If the majority of people have horrible fraudulent experiences trust them. We were placed as added drivers for a rental here and it was given to us dirty which was already a red flag. The guy who gave us the car was named Cruz and didn't speak English well and didn't go through the proper inspection of the car with us to show us existing damage so we can sign off on. Enterprise does this and it's usually only on dents/scratches larger than a quarter. The car was also not vacuumed inside or washed. The reps inside are supposed to go over any added fees before hand so you can opt to waive them or not. So no surprises when you drop the rental off. This review is directly for NIERIDA (NIERY). She claims to be the owner of this franchise. NIERY you are completely unprofessional and a DISGRACE to represent your business this way. You hung up not once but twice on us today when simply asking for help in clarifying the over $100 dollar fees you added without consent. You verbally told us roadside assistance was included. She added roadside assistance fees, something called Sickness Fees?? And 48 dollars in toll road fees when we just dropped off the car on Monday. We never took any toll roads. Don't accuse customers with no proof. Don't mislead your customers by saying "you signed the contract" when you purposely lied about these fees being included. And lastly... Don't hang up on customers because we are the reason you have a job! NIERY is a fraud and a CHILD. COSTO NEEDS TO DROP THIS BUDGET LOCATION AS A VENDOR. Absolute COWARD. read more

The day we were going to pick it up, as we are waiting for our Lyft to take us there, I got a phone call from a rep there saying my rental was unavailable bc the family who had the car decided to extend their rental!! She said she tried to call the day before but couldn't leave a message. I told her we were at Disneyland, and maybe we were on a ride that was underground, but she should have kept trying. Needless to say, I was PISSED OFF. She actually laughed at me, which made me even more mad. She didn't even try to find me another car. She was basically telling me too bad! I don't remember her name (maybe Roxy, but I'm not sure) but she was very rude and condescending. Terrible customer service. I see other reviews here saying the same. AVOID!! read more

My review of this Budget Rental agency is long overdue. I booked the rental of a moving van online to move my daughter to a new apartment in early April 2025. When I arrived at the rental office I was greeted right away by Niery who was finishing up with another customer. When it was my turn, she took great care of me and made sure that I had everything that I needed to safely move my daughter's belongings. The vehicle that she provided to me was a beautiful, brand new, electric Ford moving van. She thoroughly described the features to me and how to operate the vehicle. The gentleman (didn't get his name) that actually delivered the van to me in the yard also did a thorough walk around and provided additional instruction on how to operate the van and pointed out the features I would need to use during my rental. The size of the van was perfect and we only needed to make one trip to get everything (my daughter has a lot of stuff) moved to the new place. When I returned the van, again I was greeted by Niery and she was able to quickly complete the check in process. I found her to be very professional through out my entire transaction. I chose this agency online because they had the best price and after my experience, I would choose this agency again even if the price was higher than a local competitor. My wife and I booked an AWD SUV for our trip to Flagstaff, AZ, to visit our sons. We picked up the vehicle on Christmas Eve. The only glitch was that when we arrived at 9 am, the designated time they opened, the place was closed and there were a few people already waiting. About 9:15 the young woman rushes in. She explained that she was not scheduled to be there that day. Since we were not in a rush, this was no big deal. She was very nice. We were given a Kia Sorrento which we absolutely loved. Lots of bells and whistles, and so nice to drive. We were so glad to have an AWD because as we were leaving Flagstaff it was really snowing! We will continue to use this family owned location for our rental car needs. read more

Roxy (nice, helpful) was the only one working when I arrived, so check in was slow, which is understandable at a small location like this, just plan extra time if you are renting here. I rented a large SUV, and when I went to lock it with the remote, the lights flashed but horn didn't sound which I figured was how someone had programmed the key fob. Only having the car 2 days, I wasn't going to bother figuring out how to change it though I tried briefly via the dashboard interface, and it still didn't beep. I'm on vacation, so I don't want to read an owners manual. When someone sped through a red light at nearly hit me, I went to lay on the horn -- as anyone would -- and there was NO SOUND. Driving in LA traffic with NO WORKING HORN gave me such anxiety AND it is illegal to drive in the state of CA without a working horn. This location was closed, so I had to drive to John Wayne airport to swap out the car. The whole process from driving to/from the airport and the huge line of customers waiting at the rental car took over 90 minutes. The gentleman who checked in the original vehicle said I would not be responsible for the fuel charges up to that point since the vehicle was not fit to be on the road. That never got updated in their system so I had to fight for a refund with the 800# customer service. GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING AND ASK THEM TO READ BACK THE NOTES IN THEIR SYSTEM! Upon returning the swapped car to the Orangethorpe location, Niery checked me in and showed zero empathy or concern when I told her my anxiety over the potential danger my passengers and I were in with the original SUV. Niery argued they didn't purposely put me in a vehicle without a horn, which I KNOW. The issue is that **THEY** DIDN'T KNOW THE CONDITION OF THEIR VEHICLE BEFORE RENTING IT OUT. That is their responsibility as operators of a car rental agency. Niery was rude, dismissive, and argumentative. She kept saying, "accidents happen, just like flat tires." No, this wasn't an accident. The vehicle was not in proper working condition -- that is not an accident, that is a lack of thorough inspection in YOUR fleet of vehicles. I would never rent from here again, and would caution you to FULLY test your car if you rent here...take videos and get names before you leave the facility, or rent from the airport. The only saving grace was the customer service reps at the 800 number who were all very nice, very understanding, and very helpful. read more

The rep gave my box truck reservation away right in front of me and lied to me multiple times! Truly unacceptable treatment - made an already stressful moving experience even worse for me. I call this location early morning at their opening. I asked the rep if they had a box truck available, and she said yes and I provided her my information for the reservation. She tells me the truck is the last one and will be available until 10:30am and to hurry over. I say no problem and head out and arrive in just a few minutes at 10:00am sharp. I wait in line as there is one group in front of me. They also want a box truck and are told that one is on hold but she'll help them out and give them one. Obviously they didn't have a reservation and the rep just gave away mine and I'm understandably upset. The rep then flat out spins everything that it's my fault since I didn't have a reservation made until last minute even though she told me that as long as I arrive before 10:30am (which I did) it would be available. She did not say first come first serve - this is just incompetence. She ended up further deceiving me by telling me she'll help me out with getting a van. She lies by telling me that it holds just as much as a box truck and that she'll give me a discount so it's cheaper than the box truck. The rep is very good at deception as it looked like she was making an effort to make things right for me, and I went with it as I trusted her. When my move was done I decided to look at their website and discovered the specs of the vehicles and that the van does NOT hold as much as the box truck and as such is already cheaper so no discount applies. Both of that along with the lie about the reservation means I was lied to three times by the rep. I wish I got her name. This is no way to provide customer service as lying repeatedly to customers is not only unprofessional but also disrespectful. read more

I recently rented a car from this location while my car was in the shop. It was my first time renting a car so I didn't know what to expect. Roxy was so helpful. She didn't try and sell me anything I don't need. She rented me a brand new Kia K5. The car was so nice I want to buy one now. She even sanitized it for me before I got in. We had the worse experience with a truck rental ever. The van broke down and we were told you are going to charge us late fees, as well as for the day. We paid for the roadside service and called for service approx. 10:00 am he arrived at 2:00 pm and finished at 4:30om this was Saturday, All of our Attempts to contact Roxy went into their robocall hell of a Customer Service Center, using the 714 number or the 800 number is a complete JOKE. Just getting a live Person a live human was next to impossible. When we did finally get to talk to the person they could not help us as Roxy was the only one who could extend our rental. We asked for them to leave a message for Roxy as we did not want to have late fees for not calling and extending by 4 pm the time Roxy told us to call if we needed to extend or anything, we were told Roxy left at 2 pm and they cannot leave a message for the office. We called on Friday, Saturday, & Sunday. The Manager Roxy of the Fullerton office was rude once we were able to get through the way she made it sound like she only had this one van to rent out? The actual truck we rented was broken down and had to take the van, The 6 other trucks and Vans she had on the lot were broken down and a couple was taken apart but not being worked on. Rented a truck a week in advance. Usually go with UHaul but got a discount from work for Budget rentals and decided to give them a try. Was supposed to pick it up in Santa Ana and waited an hour after the scheduled pick up time to be told my rented truck was at the Fullerton Location. Called Budget Truck Rentals about the confusion of location, was transferred 4 times to confused people with information.. when finally got the correct information had to drive to the Fullerton location to pick it up, was promised discounts off for the MAJOR inconvenience and when we went to pay, no discount was provided. When asked if there was, the woman at the front desk said there was a discount already included but when we looked at the receipt, there was none. Do not use Budget truck rentals. I recently rented from SNA airport for a stand in vehicle while mine was being shipped up for a week which costed me $300+ for a intermediate sized car but I rented from here for my second week and it costed me $100 less for a free upgrade to a Jeep Compass. We rented a truck for the first time from this location. We dealt with Niery. She and Jesus were so pleasant to deal with. Very friendly and professional as well. We were worried about the minor damage on the truck from accidentally side swiping an entry gate panel, but Niery assured us there's nothing to worry about because of the insurance coverage we got through our rental. Do not rent a truck from here. Worst experience ever. We rented a 12' truck over a month before our move and arrived at the location at 8am and no one was there. The sign said open at 7am. Already off to a bad start. Once we were helped we were told there were no 12' trucks available and that they were going to give us a VAN. Mind you we reserved this over a month ago. We obviously didn't want a van cause we reserved the truck. The lady tried to tell us that they were the same size and any person with a brain knows they are definitely not the same size. Not to mention she was extremely rude the whole interaction claiming that there was nothing she could do. We ended up googling the space of the van and the space of the truck and had to show her that they very clearly were not the same size. The issue here was that we knew with the truck we would only have to make one trip and with the van we would for have to make two because we have large furniture that needed to fit. We ended up with the van because we had no option and needed to be out of our place that weekend. And had to make two trips so more mileage which means more money for them. I forgot to mention they told us that their trucks needed to be serviced and that's why we couldn't get one. Maybe tell the customer that before they show up!!!! Just do not come here. The lady was rude and you won't get what you asked for. And you'll be spending more money than you want to. Go somewhere else. read more
