Saturday morning my wife and I dropped into Avis in Fullerton to check prices on a car rental. Walking in...you can't help but notice both side walls are covered with LA Dodger pictures and old baseball newspapers...After contacting the guy behind the counter and asking about a car, I then asked what was the tie with the LA Dodgers ? His response was....(paraphrasing) ..it was to cover Avis advertising on the walls ! Attitude ? could be ! Then I asked are you open on Sunday. He told me they were but followed with... (again paraphrasing)..They want to keep us from being with our families on Sunday....Now I know an attitude ! He gave us a fab (key) to walk to the south side parking lot to check out a rental (Actually could have stolen the vehicle). But, before we got to the car my wife and I concluded that this guy sucks and we returned the key and left....If he's that unhappy with Avis, where he works....why should I go there.... Ok..I rented from here to go to Universal studios with my daughter. At first...the hours did not accommodate the return of the vehicle so Chris said I can drop it off at the carwash on the block. 1. When I picked up the car...it was NOT Chrus but another man. He had an attitude and was very rude. His attitude was horrible. I had to ask the Lord to make him stop because I was about to go off on this guy. He handed me the keys and said the car was all the way at the end of the strip center behind a gas station..no other help or information. They DO NOT bring the cars to the front if the building...they are so lazy and unprofessional. CONDITION OF THE CAR It was dirty...the inside of the windshield has not been cleaned for so long...the car kept saying the oil needed to be changed...clearly it is not being maintained. There was NO WASHER FLUID AT ALL. Now...they put a 250.00 hold on my debit card. I returned the car Sunday at 830 a.m. by Tuesday afternoon...they still did not check the car in. I called and asked them to close the car out and stop holding my money hostage. He acted like I should have allowed this since he let me drop it off there. It is not my fault they are open only . Few hours. It does not give a person the right to hold my money hostage for 3 days. I prayed against this location. Horrible horrible customer service. SERVICE: Car rental for 5 days while my vehicle is in the shop for repair. VEHICLE CONDITION: The cleanliness of the car rental was average. The vehicle's interior was generally clean but could have benefited from more thorough cleaning. The car has a neutral scent, neither remarkably fresh nor unpleasant. Overall, car was not outstanding but acceptable for a car rental. CUSTOMER SERVICE: I chose to rent a car from them based on the after-hours phone service information, which states that they offer free drop-off and pick-up service within 3 miles of their location. However, upon arrival, I was informed by the representative that it was a one-person operation and they do not provide those services and not to rely on the information provided by the after-hours phone service. To make matters worse, the representative did not accompany us to show the rental car but simply handed us the key and directed us to find the vehicle ourselves. We were left wandering in the parking lot, searching for the specified car. There were no instructions provided on the car's operation, either. The SUV was filthy (photo attached) and had major mechanical issues--transmission failed and back lights went out intermittently (while driving) When returning the car, the location was closed with no clear hours posted. The next morning, I reported the issues to staff, only to be met with unprofessional behavior--eye-rolling and childish reactions when I suggested checking the car before renting it again. I've rented from this location for about 3 years very frequently as well. The main reason why I had rented from this location was because it was near to me. However, there has definitely been a decline in customer service as of recent both Chris and David and many times I've heard them use expletives after talking to clients on the phone. Also, whenever I ask a question, Chris has banged the counter with his fist or the keyboard act as though he is frustrated not sure what's going on. It's become an issue that now I no longer feel safe renting from them as I've seen them get aggressive and confrontational towards other clients and myself. I have reached out to corporate to let them know of the situation however, nothing has been done so I will no longer rent from this location. read more

The guy helping us, believe his name was Chris, was very short and rude with us. When I tried to add my sister as an additional driver he tried to charge me. I then had to show him on Avis' website that in California there is no fee for additional driver if they are your spouse or sibling. I am a Preferred Plus member and get free upgrades. When I asked if there was one available, he simply said you need to book you car more than 30 min before you show up. The way he said it was rude and unnecessary. Had a confirmed reservation for 5pm today. Got there at 5:08 pm. Sign on door said they were open until 6pm. Called Avis customer service and they told me they lock the door promptly at 5pm. Really? Anyone who drives in Orange County traffic knows that traffic is unpredictable and if I arrived at 5pm when my pickup time was I have a suspicion they were already closed because when I called they told me they had no other cars unless I went to Long Beach airport, another hour drive away. My experience was ridiculously bad from the time I rented the car from these folks three months ago to the return. My car was totaled On the freeway nearby so I ended up at this location to rent a car to get to work. I tell The clerk that I just had a car wreck and that I was gonna need the car for more than a week based on insurance feedback and left my debit card on file. (Mistake!) LSS... The insurance companies were taking a long time to resolve my case. After three months of Avis billing and maxing my debit card out for over $5000 they then report the car stolen! I find this out by a letter I received on my door at my residence from an Avis repo guy and I'm like WTH?!? So I called Avis-Fullerton to find out what's going on and the Avis clerk stated oh we couldn't reach you so we reported the car stolen but that makes no sense to me. You can come to my house for Repo but you can't contact me for billing issues? What made my blood start to boil was the way that the clerk insinuated (yes, you know what I mean...gaslighting is the term) that maybe the wrong phone number was given (can you say racist boys and girls?)...or maybe we took your number down wrong or whatever trying to minimize his/the business responsibility. Now I begin to work with the Avis Repo agent to return the car. To get this straightened out I communicate everything I'm doing every step of the way. When I do return the car to the Avis clerk for check in and start processing cleaning out my stuff, a police car show up out of nowhere with full cherries and berries going demanding to know who I am as this car was reported stolen. I was so pissed! For a black man this causes extreme anxiety and stress from the uncalled use of police force where simple communication would suffice. Also to add insult to injury, the on duty manager charged my debit card to the tune of $5000 without asking or providing other options as I didn't want my debit card charged with this high balance on it it was only a stopgap during the rental phase. Just a few days ago I just got another bill/charge for another $500 for an etoll that I didn't authorize use of as I have my own FasTrak Account from the wrecked car. LSS...I'm still trying to straighten out all the Drama, Charged and BS that comes with renting this car from this business. One other concern is the lack of responsibility and blaming of others within the corporate office for something they can't handle locally. It's just poor customer service and business practice overall. Probably the worst experience I've ever had juxtaposed to unfortunately having to deal with a similar issue years ago when someone decided to wreck into my car. The only difference was Enterprise Rental was on the ball and I had no problems with anything customer service related over an extended rental period. They even replaced the car I had originally rented with an upgrade when an engine light came. The bill and turn in was flawlessly. Thats good customer service to me. I hope your experience is better than mine Remember never let them use your debit card on file As they will keep processing charges without you okaying them. It took an eternity to get someone on the phone, to actually help and after three months, I'm still dealing with this. I am a Budget Fastbreak member and needed a rental while my car was in the shop for repairs. Read reviews of this location and took the bad ones with a grain of salt. Often times people leave out they were difficult, rude and or had unrealistic expectations. Did all the reservations online, process was easy. I arrived on time to pick up the vehicle I had reserved online a Kia Soul ended up with a Nissan Sentra no big deal. Chris was friendly, knowledgeable, professional and personable throughout the pick up process. Ended up not needing the vehicle as long as I thought so returned early. Process was easy, David helped me with the turn in process. He was professional, personable and knowledgeable as well. I would recommend renting from this location. read more

Rented a car here a few times now and it's always been really easy and painless. The first time renting here, I was surprised at how quickly I was able to get in and out. They didn't try to up-sell or pressure me into buying their insurance. Not sure if this is a good or bad thing but, they never do a walk around the car with you to check for any damages. The first time, I noticed a dent on the car after getting the car home. I called them and they said it was fine and I didn't have to worry about it. So far, I've not had any problems with them. When I return the cars, they never check on gas or any damages either. Just give them back the keys, sign a paper, and you're done! I appreciate that since this makes the whole process that much faster! There's no bells and whistles here. The prices are competitive here. Location is convenient. The only thing is the cars are not really as clean as it should be. But for the convenience, efficiency and price...I'll let that slide...unless it's absolutely horrendous..but so far, it's been ok. read more

Just dropped off my rental from this spot. Chris was working today and he was cool. When i picked it up on Friday morning, I noticed 2 boo boos on the car. Don't rent here. The two male staff vary widely from being nice one minute to total jerks the next. I've seen them be rude to other customers as well. Totally passive aggressive. And the last two cars I've rented from them have been dirty. I will never rent here again. read more

Rented here for the first time a couple weeks ago. When we arrived, the person working was out so we had to wait but for only 15 minutes. When they got back, we had no trouble at all getting the paperwork processed. Joe, the person we spoke to, was very friendly and really easy to talk to. He actually upgraded our car for free because he had a better car available and he even worked with our schedule in dropping the car off. On top of that, Avis / Budget's rates were the cheapest out of any car rental place in the area. 5/5 stars for this location. We will definitely be renting from here again and Joe was really good at making us feel welcomed at his establishment. read more

Renting a car at this Avis location was a piece of cake!! so easy and quick...had no problems at all!! Reserved the car online...paid credit card...added two extra days over the phone...and dropped off car on the 3rd day...in and out less then a minute. i have a really good friend who works at enterprise...and that process sounded like a nightmare...(required to go only to a location near where the licence address is..so if theyre sold out....better luck next time...and bring a utility bill with name...) My husband and I rented an economy vehicle for 8 days. We soon realized we would need to extend the reservation due to his work schedule. I called the office and asked to keep the reservation for another week and how do I need to pay for my next week. The man working the counter said it was no issue to have the reservation for another week and my card that was on file would be charged. Upon returning the rental we have been charged over $1000. They have said that's because we were in an intermediate vehicle (we booked an economy, they made the choice to give out an intermediate, which I didn't even realize a Toyota Corolla was considered intermediate but that's beyond the point) and when you extend your reservation or make another reservation with the same vehicle they will no longer honor the discount they gave when first checking in. IF that had been explained to us, we would have never extended. Each time I called to pay for extra days they sent a pending charge to our bank. I was under the impression I was paying the same weekly rate as I had in the first place. Now after speaking with their cooperate office I've been told the $1000 charges are valid and that I should have read the fine print. While I understand fine print is on every type of contract you would think that a customer service representative would have reiterated that while I was asking to extend my reservation. I would have gladly returned the car and let them process a reservation from the beginning had I known I would be paying a substantially larger amount than I did the first week. I would 10/10 NEVER recommend doing busy with Avis Car Rental Anaheim, CA or any of their other locations for that matter. Poor customer service and modern day thief's! I have never been more disappointed with a company than I am with Avis Car Rental. You should be ashamed of how you do business. read more

Booked through priceline and the rep refused to honor the reservation. Showed up at 9am and the rep was MIA, when he finally showed up he looked pissed and bothered that he actually had customers to deal with. Told him we were there to pick up a car and he immediately started bitching about how we shouldn't book through priceline and that he didn't have a number for us (they did I'll get to this later) so he couldn't tell me they didn't have a car for us. He seemed content to drop it there so I asked him if he could find us something at a different dealer, this of course was another heavy burden for the guy. While he was supposed to be looking for something another customer came in so I told him I would wait outside. While outside I spent maybe 5mins on the phone with the local enterprise who not only had a car but would have it ready by 10am and that we could head right over to get it for the same price as what I had booked through priceline. On the drive back from the enterprise dealer I get a call from avis/budget letting me know there wasn't a car available...by magic I suppose since according to the rep they didn't have my number. I get that there might be an issue with the system, although if there is stop taking priceline orders, but for the guy to be such an ass is no excuse. Go to enterprise a couple miles away, I was in and out in less than 5mins without the heavy push to sign up for fuel/insurance/gps/etc. read more

These people are fantastic! Not only do they provide a quick in and out when picking up and dropping off your rental, they also go above and beyond for customer service. My partner and I rented a car for the long weekend, and in the process of returning it forgot the charger to our digital camera. Went in the next day, spoke to Joe, and he was able to get into contact with the current renter and verify that it was indeed in the car and that they would be able to drop it off when they drop off the car. Chris and Joe always take care of us here and always make sure that everything is good to go, including making sure we have a specific type of car to make those trips to Vegas. Never had any problems with them honoring any promotions and they also make sure we get the best deal even when reserving at the last minute. They also are very hassle free in terms of returning the car, which makes a huge difference. Other places aren't as friendly (Enterprise being one of the worst). Given the number of trips we make to Vegas, in the long run that saves a lot of wear and tear on our cars. Being open 7 days a week is a huge help as it lets you return the car before the weekend ends and not have to arrange to get time off from work to do so. This also helps if your needing a car just for a Saturday Night without having to pay for 2 days to do so. Also, unlike renting from the airport or other cities, there are no junk additional airport recovery fees or other city mandated rent a car taxes that can add over 50% to the base rate of the car. The only added tax is the 8% CA sales tax. They also have a huge big screen TV so you can watch football in the rare cases there is a line in returning your car. read more

I've rented cars a few times from this location. Not the best customer service, but I'm just there to get a car and go. The cars are not usually vacuumed. This time the car was in fairly clean condition which I appreciated. I drove to the corner where I was meeting a friend for breakfast and remembered to check the gas level. It was at 3/4. The contract showed a full tank of gas. When I mentioned it upon my return, not even an apology. I returned it full as I didn't want to get dinged with their gas prices. I'll be sure to check that as I have another rental coming up. read more

I was a bit weary about renting a car for the first time. Just hoping I wouldn't have my first time be a horror story. I did my research and bumped into this Avis that was an $8 Uber ride from my house. Once I got there, I mentioned to the employee about this Chris Cramer on yelp. IT WAS HIM! The reviews were right! He was such a great help and made my first rental experience a breeze. I had some requests about the features I needed on the car and he made sure I left with the car I wanted.
