Stepped inside their quaint enclosed patio , it was too cool in there for me, took my order to the car. Veggie burger was decent for a fast food stand. It was served hot, fresh, tasty! Bun was not your typical bun, good. The fries could have been crispy, as ordered, but they were good anyway. Wished I ordered a shake or frost cone, next time! Been frequenting this place for 40 years and I've noticed over the last couple of years as I've grown older...the sweet little waitress staff don't really care to much for the older ladies. Love their $.50 special burger on Tuesday and Wednesday's, reminds me of days gone past and when I order just the burger with cheese, that's all I want!!! And invariably I get the secret sauce with it...didn't order it that way and I just want it plain. But the cashiers are too busy trying to talk with their friends or the other young girls that come in...hey, I'm just the old lady!!!! And the next time the cashier takes my money and then handles an order of fries with the same hands...that's a sanitation violation...she needs to wear gloves when handling the food and then take them off to handle the money!!!! I am pretty disappointed. I've been going here for years and the service has been slipping. Today was the final straw. I made an order to eat in and one to go. When my number was called for the to go order I went to the window and waited for about 5 minutes- not a single acknowledgement of my presence. So I got back in line. Only to be snarkily snapper at by the girl taking orders who told me to go to the middle window. (The window with a sign on it to go to the other window ) She flat out refused to walk the 5 feet to grab my food. So I went to said window, still no acknowledgment of my presence..... I waited another 5 minutes until another number was called and had to sneak in as they tried to shut the window! Absolutely furious, my food was cold and my milkshake was melted. I have never been treated so badly by waitstaff and I can't say I'll be headed back anytime soon. read more

The beef patties are pre-made and frozen, but I didn't expect hand made patties at a Frosty. Other than the patties, I love these hamburgers. They are decent sized and reasonably priced. All we ordered was two cones and two drinks. The family of 6 behind us got all of their cones and their drinks before we did, then we heard one of the girls say they gave our order out. After asking about our order they gave it to us. My boyfriend spilt his soda and we cleaned it up the best we could then we asked for another one. What made me upset was while I was waiting for the new soda and my boyfriend was helping the lady clean up his mess, the pregnant lady in the kitchen told me to go sit down until she had it ready. There are several picnic tables outside so if your traveling with pets its a great place to stop. I had a glowing review for Buds before now. I just went in to see the cashier palm the fries, without gloves...which usually would be fine if they wash their hands, we are all human, HOWEVER, I saw her wipe her hands on her clothes, scratch her shoulder and scratch her head with the same ungloved hand she used to grab the fries. After living in Red Bluff for 30 years, I thought we should visit this place again. A lot of money has been put out to glorify this place up. A new extended parking lot, picnic tables and dining room tables added. Also, new outside bathrooms that were clean. First thought when we entered was it needed a good cleaning it was 7:00 pm on a Saturday. No one here but us chickens. In the DR there was food on all the tables. Food on the floor. We chose to eat outside. The tables outside were dirty as well. There weren't any napkins in any dispensers. We had to ask for them, ketchup and salt. The floors in the dining room were filthy. Some tables had full meals under them. We paid $26.55 for 4 people to eat. The cheeseburgers were nothing extraordinary. Decent size but not much flavor. Shoestring fries with a lot of salt! Mushrooms were frozen variety, a small order was 8 pieces. Not at all flavorful but once again, loaded with salt. The sodas were half flat, not just one but 2! The highlight of the meal was the milkshakes. Thick, real ice cream and good in size. We were very disappointed in our meal and probably will not go back. We enjoyed eating here years ago when driving our 57 Chevy. Owners were different and the food was good and plentiful. I'm sorry to see that with the onslaught of new owners and outside revamp comes the decline of the food from fresh to frozen. It had it's time in history but that time has passed. read more

Left a review a couple years ago and once again nothing but great things to say about Buds Jolly Cone. We always stop on the way up and down from Lake Almanor and it's just part of our family tradition. Fish sandwich and the tacos are the best!! Tried the fried zucchini for the first time last week and it was great. So glad Buds still has the same mix for the ice cream. Pine Shack up in Chester changed there's this year and it's not nearly as good as Buds. They used to be same mix. Keep up with the Bible verses on the receipts. The younger girls working the place were beyond helpful with their precise recommendations: 1) brownie milkshake, 2) double bacon cheeseburger, and 3) gems. This holy fast food trinity made me break my fidelity toward a generally healthy diet---but it sure was good. The tater tots (why do they call these gems?) were alright, milkshake was solid, and burger was spot on. All for reasonable prices. While the island bathroom was spacious and clean, the dining room was nearly the same size. It beckons to an earlier decade with worn tables and old decor. Nothing but an overpriced McDonalds burger. Lived here 4 years, finally decided to try their store. Was expecting a hand made burger, sadly that isn't the case, this isn't a greasy spoon burger joint. Fries are not up to the quality of a McDonalds. So two burgers, 2 cokes, and 2 fries, and a meat patty for the dog, over 15 bucks. I wished this was like the days of old, drive up burger joint, I think this place wants to be that, but no, it's not. I'm trying to be as honest as I can be. Last bit is this, unlike McDonalds, their ice cream machine works. They should consider going back to being a real drive up burger joint. read more
