I'm so incredibly sad with my most recent visit. I have been coming here for years!!! I can honestly say I have never had a bad experience or food. Tell this time. . . Everything was bad and I mean almost inedible bad!!! We came on a Tuesday so we could try the 50 cent burgers for the kiddos. We ordered a large tater tots and they were so salty!! I had to get a few paper towels and it. The salt off so we could try and eat them. We also ordered zucchini which was gross and they tasted like they were deep fried 3 times. Was heading to Lassen for the long weekend and craved In-N-Out. Came across Bud's on Yelp and decided to give it a try. So glad we did! No joke, we came here THREE times over 4 days. Twice on Friday before heading into the Park, and we dreamt about their shakes the whole time we were backpacking. So naturally, we stopped by before heading home! OREO COOKIE SHAKE IS SO SO SO GOOD. Burgers were delicious, especially for the price (I'm used to SF prices, though). Their "gems," aka tater tots, were perrrrrfectly cooked. Couldn't get enough of them. And on top of that, every single person that worked there was so incredibly nice! Oh, and they had air conditioned indoor seating. Life saver. Super bummed by my last couple visits here. It was a tradition since I was a kid to go to Buds while visiting my grandma but over the last couple years I feel like the quality has gone downhill. Our fries tasted like cardboard,2 food orders were wrong, the service was not rude but not really friendly either. We could overhear the ladies complaining about tips. We may have only gone for the ice cream but I'm guessing the food is good too. Right now they have Nutella as their flavor of the month and it's the best ever. I'm born and raised in red bluff, I haven't had buds in probably 10 years! But i stopped in today as I was out in town. The burger was great, bbq sauce is super good! fries perfectly cooked. The staff was friendly! The service was quick and I'll defiantly be going back. I can't think of a better place to stop in and get a quick and great burger! read more

Buds is the reason why houses in the Antelope area sell for more than the rest of town. Gems (Tater tots) Korn Dogs, Burgers... *DROOLING* Honestly, I live 15 minutes away from buds and on any given spring or fall day, I will find myself driving just to have some gems and a korn dog. The ladies who work there are super nice, work faster than speedy gonzales, and always have a smile on their face. You can either sit outside and eat or sit inside and enjoy the atmosphere. One of the things that I've always loved about Buds is how much they sponsor locals in almost every genre of sports. go cart racing, little league, soccer, junior spartans, boat drags, monster trucks.. The list goes on and on. They are truly invested into the betterment of Red Bluff, and I believe that RB is invested in them. I look forward to the day when I take my son there for his first korn dog, gems, a vanilla pepsi, I don't care if you dine in 5 star restaurants on a regular basis, this place proves there is a God. Who are you people who gave this place anything more than 1 star?!?! We were passing through on our way home and were searching for a place to eat. We went here solely based on its reviews. Please God, I hope everyone who searches for food in new towns reads this review and bypasses this place. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and taco. My boyfriend got a cheeseburger and hotdog and our son got a crispy chicken sandwich. We also got a side of the cross track fries. The order came out crammed in 2 bags. To start, they gave the kiddo a grilled chicken, not crispy, as ordered and confirmed twice at time of order. Son usually eats anything and couldn't get through half of this soggy sandwich. He kept asking why his chicken tasted like a hot dog. My burger was so squished and soggy that I had to reform it before grasping it to bite into. I'm not sure what kind of meat the burger was but I'm fairly certain it was just a grade below dog food. The taco I had ordered, just for giggles at a burger place, was some ground "meat" stuffed and slathered with a "hot sauce" (ketchup?) into a greasy flour tortilla with shredded cheese and lettuce. My boyfriends hot dog was so shriveled and dry, he was concerned he might be eating a toe that had been in a bathtub too long. His burger was in the exact same realm as mine had been. And the fries, there were 5. 5 fries in a medium. That's all I have to say about that. Now for the best part. We had a 4 hour drive home still ahead of us after this atrocity of a meal. An hour into our ride home is when the stomach cramps began. No one enjoys being on the road, in holiday traffic, being afraid that you'll either poop your pants or have to crap on the side of the road because your body wants to expel the crappy food you mistakenly ate due to poor Yelp reviews. Seriously, our bodies could not reject this food faster. Needless to say, this was one of the worst meals we've ever had and experiences driving home sick because of it. DO NOT EAT HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT FROM THE VOMITING AND DIARRHEA. read more

They have a large selection, low prices, good food, conveniently located, and great for kids.

Bud's is basically a Red Bluff institution. My Mom was going here before I was alive. The low-down on Bud's is that it is quite good, as long as you know what you are getting into. It is better than chain fast food and you have to love its roadside charm. The standouts here for me would be the milkshakes (especially hot fudge and banana - they'll make almost any combo for you, just ask nice) freezes, chili burgers, gems (which are tater-tots) and fries. You can also get dipped soft serve which is quite good but messy. Everything is hot and you can slather it all in thousand island. When people come up to Red Bluff with me, I almost always take them here and help them solidify their arteries. If only there were a Los Angeles location. read more

Love the burgers, shakes and gems (tater tots). But what keeps my wife and I coming back are the tacos. I can't explain it. I think it's just basic ground beef without much seasoning but there is a very tasty sweet sauce that they use. One time we stopped by on our way out of town to go camping near Lassen. It was so good that days later on our return back from the mountains, it was our first stop to eat on our way back toward I-5! Just ate there again after visiting family. It's a don't miss! This place beats any fast food chain out there on the road. We do a lot of road trips and ultimately, we have to stop and eat. We thought we were going to have to settle for the usual fast food fare, but yelped on a whim and found this place. Still a burger joint, but simple and delicious. Had the cheeseburger and DH had the steak sandwich combo. Ordered the side of gems/tots and went at it. The buns were tasty, the burger was the size of an in n out burger and filling. Did not feel gross and greasy as I often get after having a burger meal. Tasted way less processed than other places. Tots/Gems are heavenly crunchy outside, soft and hot inside. I stayed full for the rest of the day. Never knew how the steak sandwich tasted, but DH gave it the nod and thumbs-up. I'm thinking he loved it. Surprisingly, the Vanilla Dipped Cone I bought for dessert was a disappointment. Really watery soft serve and melted so fast ( I was in the air conditioned part of the restaurant, can't blame the weather) I couldn't enjoy it. But in retrospect, it wasn't really great. I am a fan of chocolate malts, and going to an old style burger place like this you would think you could get a good malt but I was mistaken. Everything is done with simply flavoring soft serve ice cream. And the malt container in the window just looked gross with no real consistency in color which isn't a good sign. It didn't taste like a malt should. Not sure if some of the ingredients have expired or just wasn't mixed properly. Order a thick & creamy strawberry milkshake after a trip back from Lassen Park or Chico, or on any ol' hot summer day in Nor Cal. Service was quick and there were many different and unique flavors. The shake came in a large cup and was fairly cheap. Haven't tried the other classic foods at Bud's, but next time I will definitely try the burger and fries. This is an awesome stop for soft serve ice cream if you're traveling up or down I5 near Red Bluff. It's about 5 minutes from the freeway, on the Hwy 36 exit. The ice cream is smooth and creamy, a perfect treat for hot weather. read more

I love this place it has great food, great prices, and a great staff. In fact I went very recently and the customer service was incredible, especially Mariah Damante she was fantastic she was very kind, respectful, and all around fantastic worker. I've been to fancy steak houses that treated me not as good as this place. As you can see I enjoy this place a ton, the burgers, tots, and shakes are great, the price is awesome, and the staff (especially Mariah was fantastic).
