I'm always looking for a place to eat, and the first one that pops up on my search, that's walking distance from our suite is R Restaurant. OMG! There's John Wayne's photo and cut-out photo of him, (my dad's fave). "The owner's a fan of John Wayne." We got the Fan Favorite, but instead of burger steak, it's got tri-tip, everything else is the same. I love my meal! Hubby got the Fish & Chips. His fish is about a foot long. He ate every bite! We both shared mine and his, and there's still enough for on the road snack. Also we ordered Chicken & Rice Soup of the Day and Salad. I think the soup was a bit salty. This evening I stopped for dinner at the Rocking R restaurant. it was on 4/20 at around 7pm. Upon finishing my house salad I found a dead beetle. The restaurant is old and that's usually where you find the best food. I was entirely wrong! Hostess was nice contacted owner, but I didon't wait around. Told the Hostess we weren't paying and we left. My only regret now is not telling everyone else in the restaurant! The health department needs to make a visit! Physically disgusted. First, the service. Audrey, our server, was OUTSTANDING. I notice she knew practically everyone who came in after us by name. Food was great! I got a California Benedict, my husband got the French toast-- perfect breakfast for us. Asked for a re do on undercooked hash browns. had proof of purchase and brought the food back. A Female " regular" waitress told me there was NO WAY it was undercooked. I told her they were not edible , I asked for well done. She refused to re make them. My family and I will not be back due to this unfortunately . The customer is always right . For $50 we got burnt bacon and onion rings on our hamburger. The sweet potatoe fries were over cooked and the potato salad came from a container. Our coffee and iced tea were the only thing that was eatable. Our waitress was kind and refilled our drinks promptly. The reastraunt was not busy at all we were there on a Friday around 3;00 pm. We were there about 7 years ago and back then I would of given them a 5 star rating. Who knows what has happened in the past 7 years. We will not go back again. So sad. read more

Really great staff that takes time to chat with you and make you feel welcome. Attentive service as well. If you are looking for a "quick" bite to eat off the I-5, this is not the place. This is the place to sit and have a conversation with your travel partners and enjoy the ranch/western themed decorations. You could tell that a lot of locals visit the establishments and have personal relationships with the staff. That is something that can be appreciated. Unfortunately we had arrived right after a large party had just left and they were a little disorganized. I asked the waitress which of two choices she would recommend, the Mossberg or the Bacon & Bleu and she said both were her favorite. I chose to go with the Mossberg. It was definitely a delicious burger. The sweet Tang of the barbecue sauce and the crunch of the fresh lettuce and onion rings all melted together with that cheddar cheese and a medium rare patty, just melted in your mouth. I had a side of tater tots. Crispy, oh so wonderfully crispy! The only issue I saw was the couple who had walked in ahead of us was still waiting for their food order after we had already eaten and paid. Rockin R is what took the place of the old Perko's Coffee Shop from back some years ago. Perko's was a chain, but I think the Rockin R is an independent. They serve breakfast lunch and dinner here. The prices are moderate, not the cheapest around, but ya gotta make a livin, so it is what it is. Denny's across the way might be a little cheaper. We stopped in for breakfast before heading outta town down the road. I had eggs and a waffle and my friend had an omelet and hashbrowns. I was eyeing his hashbrowns cause hashbrowns are one of my fave things in life, and these looked pretty damn good. I shudda had what he had! My food was fine, nothing to get too excited over, but that omelet looked good too ... OK, I'm having that next time! pretty yummers place. Service was friendly and the place clean. read more

I've eaten here a lot because I live in Red Bluff but I realized I should probably leave at at least one review after all this time. They do the food right and they do it the way you ask them to do it and everybody is extremely polite. It's good basic tasty comfort food and they don't screw it up, and that's all I'm looking for. As we entered the restaurant, we were greeted by a smiling hostess. The restaurant and facilities was very clean. Our waiter (a young man) was very helpful in our ordering of food from the menu. We mentioned that we were seniors and did not eat a lot. He offered to split the grilled chicken sandwich with sourdough bread with fries (1/2 sweet potatoes and regular fries) + a house salad. The portions were large enough for two seniors and we were very full. The young man/waiter was attentive to our needs and checked in regularly with us (not overbearing). Overall, we like this place and will return while traveling through Red Bluff. read more

This is an enjoyable family restaurant for traditional American and country-style food. My country fried steak ($15.49) was good as was the rice pilaf. The green beans and toast were okay. It was a filling meal particularly since it also comes with your choice of soup or salad. Service was very nice and accommodating (7/13/19), but one of my pet peeves is plates not all coming out at once. Here the waitresses bring out two plates at a time. Or least ours did. What, no sweet tea?! I settled for raspberry or something forgettable. Restrooms were mostly clean. And, personally, I love all the John Wayne and Western stuff. Just happened to stay at the next door hotel, I decided to try this place for take out. The food was beautiful and delicious. We had the three patties burger and ribeye salad. The salad was fresh and crisp, both steak and patties were charred and seasoned well. Who work there were all nice too. The inside looked good old dinner. Cute. read more

Front of house was very friendly. It is true, they are not wearing masks. Aside from that. Definitely feels very old school, in a good way. Food was good. I got the "Fan Favorite" burger (I think it was called something else). It was pretty good, but I will say they should specify that it is using red onions and not just onions. We came here during COVID on a work trip and boy was I impressed! Picked up garlic Alfredo and the nights special meatloaf, both off of a recommendation from the host. My Garlic Alfredo was perfect and delicious with my requested chopped and mixed pieces into the sauce. And the meatloaf was literally TWICE the amount of meant we expected! Soooo good! Social distancing in their seating placement combined with an immaculately clean environment made me feel both comfortable and safe. After our horrible experience with Luigi's last night, we drove around town looking for a place to dine. At 830pm nothing open except this grease pit looking diner Rockin R. Don't judge it's book by its cover. Last night we had the most cheerful sweetest server wearing her kitty costume since it was Halloween after all. I had the steak and eggs, my hubby had the BLT. Let me tell you everything was made to perfection that we decided to check out of the Hotel, then before heading to Seattle, we decided to stop again. The host Mike who was also our server this morning remembered us from the night before. My hubby ordered the steak and eggs because he saw how mine looked good last night, I decided to go light with the mini combo for breakfast. Again our meal was hot, and tasty. I would suggest stop at this little country diner in Red Bluff. I was the only minority with aqua hair, and I felt welcomed. Went there for 32nd anniversary, service is great, food is really good. Ask what the vegetable is before you order LOL Wife had the chicken club, MASSIVE sammich. I order chicken fried steak, bomb. Potatoes with gravy okay, because they use a LARGE ice cream scoop, it was just a massive ball of taters, with not enough gravy on them :-) Yeah, I like my gravy. ONLY bad side was the boiled squash. UGG I do NOT like squash. I would have said hold the squash had I known it was going to water down my plate with uckyness. :-|. Tables in the booths are WAY too high. Really nice place.. reminded me of perkos back in the day- in fact it is a remodeled Perkos. It has a great relaxed atmosphere, and cute country/cowboy decor without being too pandering. Staff was super nice and friendly. Service was prompt and everything came out fast, drinks were never empty! Food was good and portions were big. Prime Rib was better than you would have expected and cook was spot on. If you order dessert beware the pie slices AND the banana splits are more than adequate and are delicious! read more

If I could give it a zero I would. I'm outraged by the customer service and cooking skills of this place. First and last time I'll eat there. We ordered a medium New York and a well done top sirloin. Bloody and squishy is not well done. When we called up the lady asked me to bring the medium rare steak back so they could cook it longer. WHAT!!!!! You want to recook a steak that I took home? Disgusting. I asked them to remake an entirely new steak well done and I'll leave them with the one they gave me. 25 minutes later the new steak was finished. 25 minutes....... the new steak was cooked to a solid dense hockey puck state. It is completely nasty. I've never been treated so poorly at a restaurant. So, waking into this place is like walking back into 2019. The staff seemed friendly however they do not follow any sort of Covid protocol. They do not wear masks and they do not make anyone else wear them either. I felt completely out of place when I walked in wearing a mask to pick up my to-go order.
