It's hard not to be a fan of a restaurant that consistently brings good table fare to you from the kitchen time after time. Lot's of it also, sometimes hanging over the side of the plate! No! You don't have to eat it all in one sitting. All you have to do is ask your waitress for a container to take extras home. No "Bloomberg's" here to limit you, with big government rules regarding how much you should be allowed to have. Besides, that isn't the way here in Idaho. We're for letting you make up your own mind when it comes to certain limitations. We're kinda conservative here and want you to be able to make up your own mind on how much of a meal you eat, besides, there are days ahead to snack on the leftovers. We travel North America in an RV and make it a practice to eat at least breakfast out everywhere we go, usually with the help of Yelp. The Buffalo Cafe was found the same way and we were not surprised by the number of cars parked out front, another indication of a great place to eat. We were not disappointed either. We both had the steak and eggs for $8.95. A nice cut of steak with toast (both done correctly, by the way) and non-greasy hash-browns. Also included were the homemade jams! I had the country sausage and egg combo with a blueberry muffin. The sausage was good, not like a Farmer John link that you get at IHOP. My 7 YO kept picking at my sausage. The blueberry muffin was perfection; warm & not sweet - exactly what I wanted. The best way to describe the food is homemade, filling, and delicious. Went on a Saturday morning around 10:00. The restaurant was packed with people standing outside waiting for a seat. We'd heard good things about the Buffalo Cafe and decided to wait. After we got seated, it took about 15 minutes to get our order in and another quarter hour to get our food. To be honest, the breakfast was just average and the coffee just so-so, but the waitress was super nice and the whole experience a lot of fun. You just don't find little cafes like this very often in America any more. I wanted to write a review for the Buffalo Cafe two years ago, and several times since and just kept forgetting. It does not matter what your order or when you go in, it's simply awesome. The food is home style food that is always cooked properly and to order, and it tastes great. The service is some of the best I have received in town. The staff goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and enjoy your meal. Buffalo Cafe is my favorite place to eat breakfast anywhere! Stopped here while driving through town. We wanted to have a good breakfast for a long drive, this place hit the spot. HUGE portions and we were full for hours. I had the half an order of buffalo chips which were like loaded potatoes with an egg of choice on top. Great flavor and super filling I only ate half of them. It also came with a side I choose the blueberry bran muffin which had a ton of blueberries in it. Really good for a bran muffin. My husband had chicken fried steak for breakfast (yes I said breakfast). He said it was one of the best he has ever had and it was huge. He had a biscuit with it. But I are half of it because it was so good (and huge) and their homemade jam is amazing! Kids: 1 had a pancake the size of a regular plate. And it was $1.50! My other two kids had the $3 kid special which was sausage, egg and a pancake he barely finished his food and lastly silver dollar pancake breakfast and eggs $2, 3 good size pancakes and an egg. Seriously the best breakfast I have ever had, and hits the mark every time I have been there. This little spot is only open for breakfast and lunch, and there is usually a small wait time. Don't be deterred by this, it is sooooo worth the wait! They don't take reservations, but there is open seating at the bar. The menu consists of many delectable choices, and I have a hard time deciding every time! My favorite breakfast item is the sawtooth omelette with bacon, blue cheese, and fresh tomatoes. They also make their own jam and a taste of this stuff sends my mind skyrocketing back to my grandmas's kitchen....num num num!!! It was busy but they were turning tables at a respectable pace. My companion and I both ordered from the specials menu- steak and eggs with smothered potatoes, and corned beef hash. The gravy on the potatoes was pretty great, as was the corned beef. I really enjoyed the blackberry jam and homemade biscuit (which was roughly the size of my head). Portions are excessively generous. My reason for 4 vs 5 stars - although my companions eggs were cooked to perfection, my poached eggs were completely over cooked with hard yokes. I would have also enjoyed something beside a second serving of potatoes with the corned beef hash (spinach or collard greens perhaps).
