My wife and I enjoy trying dishes that are unique to every state we visit. From our research, Idaho is known for its finger steaks and chicken fried steak. In addition, we learned that Depot Grill is the place to try them both. More specifically, we tried their finger steaks basket with fries, and their chicken fried steak and eggs with sourdough toast and hash browns. Between the two, I really enjoyed the finger steaks. I read somewhere that Idaho is known for its finger steaks. They sounded interesting, so decided to seek them out when we were in Twin Falls. This was the only place I could find them, so I'm not really sure how big of a thing it is, but we tried them anyway. Covid-19: you can order over the phone, but you have to go inside to pay. No one is wearing masks. It was fairly crowded. It basically seemed like Covid-19 didn't exist when you walked in. I got in and out as fast as possible. We got the finger steaks basket with fries and chicken fried steak and eggs (which came with hash browns and toast). This was my first time having chicken fried steak and it seemed like another thing Idaho was known for so we figured why not try it (although I'm pretty sure it's common in NC too). The chicken fried steak was ok. My half seemed less chewy than my husband's. We both thought the finger steaks were pretty good. I prefer them to chicken fingers. Honestly, I wouldn't come here unless I wanted to try the finger steaks. When the new owners took over they added alcohol to the menu and double the prices. A chef salad use to cost $7 it is now $14 but they have yet to repair anything seat our tapped where torn. I have enjoyed the chocolate cream pie here twice now and really wanted to take an entire pie back to Boise for my family to enjoy. So, I called and asked if I could get one and Megan said they only had 3 pieces. I asked how much they were and she said $2.65 each = $7.95. She said that I could add 2 pieces to save some money and she would charge me for a whole pie $8.15. My choices were banana cream and coconut cream, so I added those to it. I walked in and she asked if I had just called about the pie. She asked me to give her a minute to put it together, she did, I paid, and off I went. I didn't know her name before, but Megan has been my server before. She's personable and pleasant. The chocolate cream pie is the same every time - thick and delicious, topped with a good amount of not-overly-sweet whipped cream and mini chocolate chips. I was not a fan of the banana cream pie though - it wasn't overly banana-flavored. And I would say the opposite about the coconut cream that was super coconutty. I just had the worst experience just now at depot grill. Our server, Sarah, snapped and screamed at us when my uncle (65 years old) accidentally called her my name. He was just having a conversation with me and made an honest mistake. Everyone at the table (there were 9 of us) apologized including my uncle. But she wasn't having it. She did take our order, but after that she refused to serve us. After a while and our drinks stayed empty it became clear she had no intention of coming back to us. Last night the family and I had a wonderful dinner at the Depot. The staff members were very pleasant. We were greeted the second we walked through the door. The food was delicious. There were 5 of us and the food still came out very quickly. We had meals across the menu. From huge fluffy chocolate chip pancakes to the best in town's crispy fried chicken dinner, and the kitchen prepared all the food to a T. Everyone was happy. If it's breakfast or dinner any time of the day, the depot has it. The restaurant was very clean, including the bathrooms. I was very surprised by the cost being so cheap for the amount of food we had on our table. It's hard to take 5 people out to dinner anywhere for very cheap but the Depot costs are very affordable. I came here on a Tuesday night to dominate the train wreck challenge. The food challenge consists of 6 massive 12" pancakes, 4 eggs, and a pound of sausage. After a quick picture I was told that I had to start immediately, the pancakes were excruciatingly hot and I burned my mouth. I was able to take this large challenge down in 17 minutes. They gave me a t-shirt and the meal for free. I asked my waitress what they had for desert and she got me a free apple pie with ice cream.
