a hand holding a piece of food

My husband and I ate there on 6/17/23, we ordered the 3 piece fish dinner. It was not good at all. The fish was so thin it was almost non-existence and the breading was very hard and crusty. I finally got the server's attention and showed her what we got, she said she would talk to the manager. We waited over 20 min. and no one came, I finally got up and went to a person who was wrapping silverware and asked her if she could help us, she said someone would be with us soon. Another 5 min. went by and a person came out and handed us a plate with the same 3 scrimpy plate of fish as the first. They forgot our salad and when it was brought out it had the wrong dressing even after stating a second time the dressing I wanted. The waitress never came back at all to see if we had any needs or how the food was, I see why! I have gotten bad food and service here before but thought I would try again. We will not be back!!

The prices here are quite good, but if you order the unique food (alligator, buffalo sirloin, etc) it will be more than just a burger. A meal can cost you $5 or $25 depending on what you order. The food tastes great and the portions are fairly large. They even have a buffalo (bison) statue outside and a stuffed buffalo (bison) inside.

We had all you can eat walleye. Food was great, service was a little slow but the food made up for it.

The food and service was very good this evening and it appears the support of the customers is helping.

Coleslaw was delicious, fries were crisp and tasty, but the Walleye was the star of the plate.

I had a few laughs, it made a Klondike reference, he wore the shirt but had no clue, you had to experience it to get the pun. ( they sell them). I chose to sit at the bar. Then there I met the barmaid..... who was so bubbly and pretty and no I didn't say that because her shirt said that.(LOL) She showed me the special of the day both food and drink. I tried the spicy tequila shot made by the house with jalapeños...meh.. it wasn't hot enough for me but it was still ok. BUT the vegan taco that I had was soooo good. Who knew theres VEGAN TACOS! We ordered the small plate of buffalo milk burrata- who knew that dish could be so delicious. The grapefruit paired perfectly with the flavors of the herbs and the creamy burrata provided a great depth of flavor. Filet mignon was seasoned perfectly and cooked exactly as requested. The crisp potatoes were a delightful addition to the dish. The walleye was moist and had a wonderful crispy skin. The pickled onions provided a nice acidity to the dish paired with the blueberry sauce which was absolutely my favorite! The cornbread was a little dry but that's my only criticism from the entire dinner. For dessert we ordered the lemon blueberry meringue. All the best flavors in a large enough portion for three people to share. They even provided complimentary chocolates which our 5 year old devoured! Would absolutely revisit!

Versailles is about 20-25 minutes away and Silas was worth the trip for their Sunday morning brunch. For starters, its very cost effective at $15/head with a buffet featuring french toast casserole, herbed eggs, coffee cake, bacon, etc. The space is gorgeous - from the lighting to the floor to ceiling windows to the fact that they have Molton Brown soap in the bathroom (luxxxxurrry). Overall, the brunch was a very smooth and lovely experience topped off with a solid coffee menu. I opted for the drip coffee - wish I knew where there beans were from? Guessing local-ish based on the quality. My only complaint was that they had a hard time keeping the buffet options full so it was hit or miss when you'd go up to the bar. Minor feedback. Look forward to visiting for lunch or dinner in the future!

Unfortunately, the larger dining room on the other side is the complete opposite--sterile, plain, and uninspired. It could really benefit from a decorator who could bring it in line with the vibe of the bar and outdoor areas. 17 West positions itself as the nicest (and essentially only upscale) restaurant in the New Bremen area, but it falls short of that goal. I ordered the Spicy Chicken Salad sandwich with mashed potatoes. What arrived was a croissant that looked like it came straight from the IGA bakery, topped with a single sad leaf of lettuce and a thin, pale tomato slice. The chicken salad was scooped with what appeared to be an ice cream scoop and simply plopped onto the bread. The result was a bland sandwich with almost no spice or flavor. The mashed potatoes were presented the same way--scooped and unappealing. Overall, the presentation was cafeteria-level at best, and I've had better sandwiches in hospital cafeterias. My wife ordered the Firecracker Chicken. Her side salad was tiny and unremarkable, and while the chicken leg itself tasted decent, it was still just a sauced chicken leg. At $22, it felt significantly overpriced. 17 West likely wouldn't survive in a larger city with real competition. In the New Bremen area, however, it benefits from having very little rivalry, which allows it to stay in business despite the clear mismatch between its prices and the quality and presentation of the food.
