a hand holding a piece of food

My husband and I ate there on 6/17/23, we ordered the 3 piece fish dinner. It was not good at all. The fish was so thin it was almost non-existence and the breading was very hard and crusty. I finally got the server's attention and showed her what we got, she said she would talk to the manager. We waited over 20 min. and no one came, I finally got up and went to a person who was wrapping silverware and asked her if she could help us, she said someone would be with us soon. Another 5 min. went by and a person came out and handed us a plate with the same 3 scrimpy plate of fish as the first. They forgot our salad and when it was brought out it had the wrong dressing even after stating a second time the dressing I wanted. The waitress never came back at all to see if we had any needs or how the food was, I see why! I have gotten bad food and service here before but thought I would try again. We will not be back!!

The prices here are quite good, but if you order the unique food (alligator, buffalo sirloin, etc) it will be more than just a burger. A meal can cost you $5 or $25 depending on what you order. The food tastes great and the portions are fairly large. They even have a buffalo (bison) statue outside and a stuffed buffalo (bison) inside.

Coleslaw was delicious, fries were crisp and tasty, but the Walleye was the star of the plate.

I was told there's an arcade. (But I didn't see it). I was welcomed immediately upon entering, and the young man had on the coolest shirt. I had a few laughs, it made a Klondike reference, he wore the shirt but had no clue, you had to experience it to get the pun. ( they sell them). I chose to sit at the bar. Then there I met the barmaid..... who was so bubbly and pretty and no I didn't say that because her shirt said that.(LOL) She showed me the special of the day both food and drink. I tried the spicy tequila shot made by the house with jalapeños...meh.. it wasn't hot enough for me but it was still ok. BUT the vegan taco that I had was soooo good. Who knew theres VEGAN TACOS! YES PKEASE!!! There was cauliflower instead of chicken inside but you could not tell the difference. IT was amazing. I had my friend take a bite and I got a 2 thumbs up(lol. Didn't say it was vegan, its AMAZINGhow cauliflowercan take on so many different personalitiesfrom). Anyhoo. Keep Yelping my friends and hope to see you out there!

In my last review of this place, I was wildly unhappy with the engineering of the restrooms because of its implications for child safety. They have gone to very strong lengths to substantially, engage and resolve all of my issues. I would not be afraid at all that if my kids went into the bathroom, some stranger would have access to them that they shouldn't. This is a fun little place with some great background music. It's like a brew pub meets a diner with lots of table tables. The staff is friendly and engaging. If you're gonna eat here, the pork sandwich is pretty good. My sweetie liked her cheesesteak. Also, they had a pretty yummy stout on tap as well - something fluffy stay puff. My buddy Nick really enjoyed the Irish red. Says it's very yummy.

Expect to pay more when the food is of this high quality and this well prepared! We started with the Caprese salad. Delicious! Just delicious, easily the best crab cakes I've had anywhere in Ohio, maybe the best I've ever had! A+ again! Service was fast and friendly! The dinning room is nice, low light and low music playing. It seemed to get a little smokey in there but it wasn't bothersome. Our server was so lovely! And another lady that was floating around checking on tables was very sweet and fun! We really struggled with our ordering and "locking it in"...therefore we ended up ordering what felt like half the menu. For appetizers, we got calamari and the baked crab dip. The calamari was pretty light and delicious. The crab dip was heavy and but had a great flavor. I wasn't a huge fan of the chips but it was great with the bread that came to our table. The bread basket came out steaming and the butter was amazing we had to ask for extra. The butter is whipped and has green onions in it. Hubby and daughter each got clam chowder--it was different from what they are used to (and they are both clam chowder connoisseurs) but they still thought it was very good--just thinner and a lot more meaty ingredients. Daughter loved the halibut with risotto. Hubby really enjoyed the boathouse burger--bacon jam was new for him but he loved it. Though the burger was messy--he definitely cleaned the plate. My seafood platter was pretty good, I ate the scallops and coconut shrimp first. Then came our next dilemma...dessert!! So we each got one! Crème Brûlée, Highlander Grogg Chocolate Cake and Chocolate Chip Cookie Skillet. Everything was a hit!!

Versailles is about 20-25 minutes away and Silas was worth the trip for their Sunday morning brunch. For starters, its very cost effective at $15/head with a buffet featuring french toast casserole, herbed eggs, coffee cake, bacon, etc. The space is gorgeous - from the lighting to the floor to ceiling windows to the fact that they have Molton Brown soap in the bathroom (luxxxxurrry). Overall, the brunch was a very smooth and lovely experience topped off with a solid coffee menu. I opted for the drip coffee - wish I knew where there beans were from? Guessing local-ish based on the quality. My only complaint was that they had a hard time keeping the buffet options full so it was hit or miss when you'd go up to the bar. Minor feedback. Look forward to visiting for lunch or dinner in the future!

Unfortunately, the larger dining room on the other side is the complete opposite--sterile, plain, and uninspired. It could really benefit from a decorator who could bring it in line with the vibe of the bar and outdoor areas. 17 West positions itself as the nicest (and essentially only upscale) restaurant in the New Bremen area, but it falls short of that goal. I ordered the Spicy Chicken Salad sandwich with mashed potatoes. What arrived was a croissant that looked like it came straight from the IGA bakery, topped with a single sad leaf of lettuce and a thin, pale tomato slice. The chicken salad was scooped with what appeared to be an ice cream scoop and simply plopped onto the bread. The result was a bland sandwich with almost no spice or flavor. The mashed potatoes were presented the same way--scooped and unappealing. Overall, the presentation was cafeteria-level at best, and I've had better sandwiches in hospital cafeterias. My wife ordered the Firecracker Chicken. Her side salad was tiny and unremarkable, and while the chicken leg itself tasted decent, it was still just a sauced chicken leg. At $22, it felt significantly overpriced. 17 West likely wouldn't survive in a larger city with real competition. In the New Bremen area, however, it benefits from having very little rivalry, which allows it to stay in business despite the clear mismatch between its prices and the quality and presentation of the food.
