Big rigs fly by on the road just outside all day and night - often engine breaking to add to the noise. I was in a corner 3rd floor room this last time, and despite white noise at full volume on one phone and earbuds in with soft music coming from the other, it was still loud to the point I called the front desk about 1: 00 asking for another room - but none were available. I'm not a light sleeper and colleagues have also said they slept poorly. Otherwise, the hotel is clean and comfortable - 5 stars. The breakfast is good (with higher protein options) and the location is convenient as well - easy to get in and out of. Can't decide if I'll go back. Perhaps I'll call first to see if I can be guaranteed an even-numbered room...

The Elevator was out of order. The gentleman in line ahead of us asked about the location of the gym. He then was asked if he wanted a first floor room due to the inoperable elevator and he said yes. Hmmm. Then when my husband and I (in our 60s and me with an injured right knee) were being checked in, she told us we were on the 3rd floor and that she hoped we did not have alot of luggage. Not good. We inquired about the availability of a first floor room and were told that they were sold out. Serious demerit for giving the first floor room to the workout oriented buck ahead of us in line. The hotel is well appointed and the room was seemingly clean but smelled like cigarette smoke. The temperature was difficult to control. My oura ring said my overnight body temp was +.08 which is very unusual for me. The bed was hard. It was quiet overnight and that was a plus. The bathroom was clean and well stocked with lots of towels. However when the fan was turned on in the bathroom, it sounded like a jet engine was in there with you. A helpful feature for them is a text in the morning asking what your intended check out time was so they could plan. That is efficient. The lobby was spacious with late night snack and food offerings with a microwave available. In short, I would likely only come here again failing other known quantities in overnight accommodations in Batavia.

The morning breakfast was standard for this chain, but evidently their convection oven was broken (that is what the lady working the breakfast area said) and they were having to cook everything by hand, so at times food took a bit to get out. I did have to call for towels since there was none in our room upon arrival. The hostess said they were swamped trying to get all the rooms ready because there was a big concert the day before and the hotel sold out. I wanted to do laundry (since we're half way through our 8 day trip), but I noticed the laundry room was out of order. I asked a lady from room service if there was another self laundry room on a different floor and she said, "No, but give me your laundry and I'll do it for you in our big laundry room." I thought that was extremely nice of her and sure enough it was done later that night when we returned from a ball game. High marks for them for taking care of that for us. Hostesses were nice and despite some issues, this was a good stay for us on our way to Cooperstown.

Soap dispenser in shower was not affixed to wall- Just sitting in tub side. Heater made ticking sounds (similar to when you are waiting for a flame to light on a gas stove) every five minutes or so... lasting about a minute. The clerk had told us they had recent renovations. We noticed lots of paint spots all over the bathroom floor. Pool closed due to maintenance. At breakfast- two sets of tongs broke apart when we tried to use them. They only had 5" plates to eat on (kitchen monitor told us "that's all they gave me"). When I used the pancake machine she came out of kitchen and said "oh, is that working?" I said yes. Unfortunately I said it too soon. It spit out one pancake and then stopped working (it was supposed to give two). She was buzzing around and said she needed to clean it up because "corporate is coming today." I'm not one to bitch and get a discount. We were just amused by all of it. For $300 we expected better, but it is what it is. The desk clerk was very nice. We just told her about the room and said they may wish to address those items before someone else comes in. We did notice that she did not apologize or seem surprised by our less than perfect stay. There are many hotels around there. I am an IHG rewards remember so I try to find Holliday inns for my stays. Rewards member or not, I would not stay here again. I would choose one of the others in this location. They share a parking lot with a Hampton inn. Next time, we will try there.

CONS: A Stranger walked into our locked room at 1230 at night because staff checked us into the wrong room. He was able to unlock our locked room! We could not get back into our room in the morning because of confusion with keys. They checked two people into the same room! Imagine being woken up at 1230 in the morning with your 16 month old after bring on the road for 8 hours because a random man walked into your locked hotel room. Needless to say, this mom could not easily fall back asleep. When I asked to speak to the manager in the morning, they said the manager would call us back. Instead, staff called and only offered 10% off. The manager should have called back himself. Staff should not have dealt with this. The manager should have called us back himself. We stop in Batavia every time we make this drive. We wanted to find our hotel. This was not it.

The only odd thing about our stay was the check-in process. The attendant wasn't very friendly and was so slow and silent while working on her computer, we feared that our reservation had vaporized and drifted away into cyberspace somewhere.

You should give me a full refund". And I left. I drove right by my next Hampton Inn reservation in Ohio 8 hours later. And drove straight home. The Hampton Inn in Geneseo to speak to "Stephanie" today inquiring about where my refund was. She asked what happened and I explained. She said " someone should have offered you another room ". I replied "If I'm packing my shit up, I'm only doing it once." She said, " Well I was going to give you a $50 refund but I'm not, because you're cussing at me!" I said " I sure hope you're recording this call, because I haven't cussed " at you" once! She said, " You said "If I'm packing my shit up, I'm only doing it once." My heart dropped because it wasn't MY card, it was my SO card. In the middle of calling him the clerk said she was mistaken and in fact I still had to pay. No big deal- I expected to. I found a killer deal online. $99 for 4 pass to the water park and an overnight stay (2beds). Price was great! Settled in our room and went to make easy Mac for the kids. Noticed the microwave and coffee maker weren't plugged in. Seemed on but I searched and searched for an outlet. Found one, the cord didn't reach. I ended up unplugging the TV to plug in the microwave. Annoying seeing I had to man handled it over across the room to make a small meal. Moved it back to the little ones could watch tv. Guess what, no guide, no idea what channels were what seeing were from an entirely different state. Throughout the night we noticed that we only had 3 working outlets in the WHOLE room. To plug two phones in to charge and one tablet we had to unplug the two lights, and the alarm clock. The next day, my little ones asked for the dip n dots we purchased the night before ($5 eAch btw ). The fridge never stayed warm! Our food/drinks were room temperature and our ice cream had melted. We went to the water park to buy one more and to snag one last dip in. Went to look for flip flops that were shoved under the bed and we found that they were absolutely disgusting! Never vacuumed, dirty female panties, hair brush, wrappers, dust bunnies the size of a small bag of cotton candy (I wish I was exaggerating). I had enough when went down stairs. They were quick to fix our problems and even refunded me the money on my ice cream. One of the managers told me that my card had been declined the night before and they needed to run it again. I was confused. Y this because I had the charge actually go thru according to my bank statements that I pulled up. They said since it declined my barge would "fall off". So they charged me once more but at a discounted price due to what went down. So now I had two transactions totaling $200 plus dollars. They offered to call my bank (this is where the 3 stars come in bc I wouldn't of given any at this point). I have a work card, not a typical bank card. We get on 3 way and my bank said it would take up to 30 days to see my refunds. The hotel staffed cut in and stepped up and handled the situation. Demanded another way they can help get my refund. They ended up faxing info that was needed as well as extending my check out time due to spending so much time over this; I had two kids to still feed breakfast and bathe. The hotel states I should see my refund within a few hours. I noticed my refund after several but hey, better than 30 days. All in all, I'd stay again but I now know what to look for. I definitely got what I paid for but their customer service went above and beyond.

The room I booked slept up to 4 people, a bunk bed and a large twin, huge room with full kitchen, micro wave, full refrigerator and bath room. This is a recently remodeled lodge, everything looks new, very clean and the owner is very friendly. The lodge has other room options, and the room rates are better then what you will find in the area. If you are visiting the area I highly recommend staying and driving the extra distance to fishing areas.

So friendly and helpful and a pleasure to interact with. We brought our dog, Freddy Sue, this time around, and I would absolutely recommend this hotel to fellow dog owners looking to take their pup to a dog friendly town. It is a $70 charge which is steep, but was worth it to us in terms of peace of mind, especially with the off peak rate of this hotel on a Saturday to Sunday being $140. The beds are SO comfortable and I had such an awesome night's rest. Of course, the location cannot be beat. In the non-COVID times, we bopped from restaurant to restaurant drinking our way through the town and it was amazing to be able to come right back to the center of town as home base. For the price and guaranteed positive experience, I doubt we will ever stay anywhere else when we come to visit Ellicottville. Happy exploring!

UPDATE: I complained on my survey and was contacted by a customer service representative and they gave the company response "sorry for your bad experience we will try hard" which I replied, typical response, I don't believe you even read my additional comments. I said that there was a time when customers were compensated for bad experiences but now it is , we got your money, sorry. About a hour later a got a reply that half my money was being refunded. So at least they are trying so I changed my rating to 2 stars for the effort.

There should have been at least one room between guests. I promise will never stay there again.
