I'll start out by saying that I absolutely love Buffalo Wild Wings food and have been to multiple locations from the east coast, all the way to the west! However, I have been to the Anchorage location on more than one occasion over the past three years (I live here) and the food/service has been less than mediocre every single time, ultimately disappointing. Today was really irritating which is why I decided to finally write a review. It took 25 minutes to order food and another 28 minutes for the room temperature wings with dried sauce and cold fries to arrive. I would be more understanding if the place was packed but there were no more than 25 people in the entire restaurant. I tried one of each of the wings and a few of my fries before I asked for my check. I am not a petty person, it really comes down to principle for me. I appreciate good service above all and I understand when the kitchen is understaffed or let's the server down. I paid for the entire dinner and left the bartender a $10 tip because it wasn't her fault that she was busy and the food came out late. This review is more meant for the owner than anything. If you are wondering why your business is failing, it's from the management level on down. I shouldn't have to be sitting at the bar top and have to flag down a server to place my order because the bartender is working her butt off in areas that aren't her responsibility. Buffalo Wild Wings is typically the place to be! However, I'm not satisfied with the service in this location. Wings: Amazing! I couldn't ask for better wings. Service: Poor... I know it's busy, but the waitress seems like she's not even trying. She constantly passes the table and doesn't stop by. It took an hour to get drinks and finally out in our order, although we were prepared as soon as we walked in the door. We knew exactly what we wanted. We are now about 90 minutes into service and still no food... I came down here this past Sunday to catch a football game around noontime. Buffalo Wild Wings is located in the old Wayne's Texas BBQ spot on the corner of 36th Ave. and C St. next to a gas station. The parking lot is easily accessible from C St. but it is rather small for the large number of people that show up for the sporting events. I came in and the place was significantly packed. I made my way to the bar and found a great booth with a clear view of a giant screen playing my game. The seating for the bar area is a lot smaller than other places I've gone to for watching football. The high tables and chairs are grouped closely in the middle spot next to the bar which not surprisingly became cramped and hard to navigate through once the place became crowded. They do have a good number of giant screens and TV sets placed all around the bar and restaurant area making it easy for you to find your game but not so much when looking for a good seat to watch from. I just happened to get lucky as a table in front of my game opened up just when I walked in. The server I had was friendly and quickly served my drink at the start of the game. I started off with my usual go-to appetizer of Mozzarella Sticks. These arrived fresh and piping hot within a few minutes. They gave me a good amount with a cup of marinara sauce and the cheese was melt-in-your-mouth delicious with not too much breading. The appetizers here are pretty decent and some of the other selections I've tried previously include the Cheddar Cheese Curds with Southwestern Ranch Dressing, the Ultimate Nachos (corn tortilla chips loaded with chili, house-made pico de gallo, shredded lettuce, jalapenos, queso, and salsa), the Beer-Battered Onion Rings which were huge and served with the aforementioned ranch dressing, and the Roasted Garlic Mushrooms (lightly breaded and infused with garlic). Before halftime, I decided to get a small order of traditional wings (bone-in 10 pc) and this was when I went with three stars rather than four for this review. I ordered two flavors: one half Spicy Buffalo Garlic and the other half Tangy Honey BBQ. The wings arrived in about 10 minutes but they were only warm when I tried them. The sauces for both flavors tasted good but clearly too much was added that overwhelmed the crispy texture of the wings making it soggy and I requested extra napkins to keep from making a mess all over my hands. The blue cheese that came with was okay, but it was more suited for salad rather than the kind I love that has chunks of blue cheese when you douse the wings in it. The other two flavors I had previously were the Parmesan Garlic which was delicious and the garlic perfectly fried in the wings as well as the Salt and Vinegar although this one lacked flavor and had a little too much salt for my taste. This place wouldn't be a usual stop for me outside of football season as there are other places that serve better wings than what I've had here. However, the atmosphere and the fast, friendly service from the employees make it one of the places I wouldn't mind going to catch an NFL game on Sunday. (side not she did the best she could) she was obviously overwhelmed especially since we are all on separate tickets and drinking... so we majority of us got here by 1830, and our orders weren't taken until 1900. Our food came to us half cold and half warm like it had been sitting there for a minute. Food was subpar, like I said.. no one likes cold wings if you come to the place to get hot/warm wings. I love BWW's. Usually, I would mark them 4-star I've traditionally come here for football games for years. I was stoked that Anchorage had one since it is my football place. Last year I called my order in for the big game the morning of the game, actually surprised that they were still taking orders. So, I understood that I had to wait about 30 minutes beyond the quoted time. This year, I planned ahead. I ordered a day in advance for a pick-up time 1-hour before the game. Here I sit 1 hour and 10 minutes later still waitinng on my order with many others. To addd insult to injury, someone who placed a Togo not long after I can in just walked past me with her order. This is how businesses lose loyal customers. I would have rather them turn my order away because they were at capacity or only had later pickup times available then take my order only to have me sit aNd get progressively more pissed as wait. We went here twice this last weekend. The first night wasn't too bad except our waiter talked like an auctioneer and we could barely understand what he was saying. He attributed it to being busy The second night a different waiter...was nice but his listening skills were lacking. Ordered just blue cheese and no carrots, only celery with our chicken wings. He brought ranch and blue cheese and celery with carrots. He did not notice the carrots were still a plenty on my plate when he took it away. He also asked if we were done with our wings and took them away before we could answer. We still had a wing to eat. Also their new deal with no where to put your wing bones is gross. Tried to come here on opening day but the wait was a nice 2 hours, F that! But stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and surprisingly the wait was only 20-30 minutes. Not bad. The service is mediocre, they seem to be new and inexperienced. But I don't judge. They're all very sweet, regardless of how slow they are. I dislike how dark it is in the restaurant, charcoal wall paint and no lighting is no bueno. But I guess the 10,000 TVs make up for the lack of light bulbs? Or maybe they're going for that dining in the dark vibe? But, I did love their Mango Lemonade, that is the shiz. The Huckleberry lemonade was ok, but I dont know WTF huckleberry is lol. I liked the Blazin hot sauce, had a nice kick. But, didn't live up to the servers warnings, apparently its the hottest sauce they have. I conquered it! My dad, his employee, and I went here with high hopes for this new business. Upon entering it was a really nice facility and the waiter/waitress's jerseys was a very clever touch. Our server was really friendly and prompt in her service. There is one thing, worth three stars, that completely ruined the whole experience. The wait time. As long as it took, they probably started with killing the chickens and picking the mushrooms. Well over an hour for three half size batches of wings, chicken quesadillas, and stuffed mushrooms- that is ridiculous! We were about to starve by the time we got our food. Good thing my dads employee was with his boss on this trip, because if his lunch was only a certain amount of time, he would have been in a heap of trouble. The stuffed mushrooms were horrid. They tasted like fried mush. Gross gross gross. The chicken quesadillas tasted identical to the ones Applebee's serve. The paper trays reminded me of my school cafeteria. How lame. My old review used to hit this BWW for selling scrawny wings. They've improved that, so that's good. But I found other problems today. All month long, the sign near the front door has advertised Bud Light (and other) tall drafts for $4.50. However, the ones on my bill were $5.25 each. While it was corrected when I asked, I suspect that this BWW has been overcharging its customers $0.75 every time they order one of the supposedly-discounted beers. And since I visited on June 16, that means 16 days of overcharging for the most popular beer in America. Also, the wifi didn't work. When I was in on Monday, I told the manager and was told it would be fixed. I called on Tuesday and spoke to Rhonda. She said it was fixed. But when I visited today (Thursday), it was still broken. Not good. Beyond that, I appreciate that this BWW has improved the quality of its chicken wings to meet the average I experience at other BWWs in the lower 48 states. read more

I have been coming here since I moved to Anchorage last January. Food is always a hit and miss. Service is always great. Today however was a huge disappointment. I ordered a burger. After waiting a half an hour, the manager came out and said that they ran out and were defrosting meat. Seriously? How do you not prep enough meat for the day? I reluctantly ordered the southern fried chicken sandwich. The sandwich was okay, nothing great, and the fries were cold. It took another twenty plus minutes to get my food. Then a guy came and sat next to me. Ordered the same thing and got it???? They gave me a free a beer but still! They only reason I am giving three stars is for the two bartenders. I'm a critic on a mission: To immerse myself into the full dining experience among the many fine restaurants, bistros, cafes, eateries, diners, holes in the wall, and just plain truck stops in this great country, and to review each from within its own context. Establishments get up to 5 stars, one each for: 1st Impression, Menu Selection, Food Quality, Value, and Service. Bon Apetit' BUFFALO WILD WINGS - Anchorage, AK First Impression: The two greeters & seaters at the entrance were gabbing and had to be asked to seat us. Nothing else to say. Bad first impression = no star. Menu Selection: To be fair, it is a wing joint so the chicko-centric menu focus was to be expected. They do have salads, diet items, and a good bar selection though, and the diversity within the poultry genre was pretty good. They get a star for the menu. Food Quality: Quality is average. With the exception of the wings, the majority of the food here is either deep fried or pre packaged and microwaved. Salad is of the bagged and sulfited variety, and the desserts from Marie Callender or Sarah Lee. The cheese sticks we ordered were hollow tubes and had to be sent back for some in which there was actual cheese. The wings were acceptable, although this establishment's idea of spicey and mine clearly differ. 1/2 star for food quality. Value: Yes, well here is where Buffalo Wild Wings gets off the success train. I was virtually taken aback when we received our bill. Two orders of wings (10 each), two sides of fries & coleslaw, two ice teas, and the afore mentioned cheeseless sticks came to $56.00. That's right, $56.00. Somewhere in the dark recesses of my mind the 'I'm getting royally hosed' alarm went off, so I did some research. According to Bloomberg, the wholesale price of frozen chicken wings sold to restaurant chains is $1.69 a pound, and most restaurants buy what they call 12 counts- 12 wings per pound. So, simple arithmetic establishes that each wing costs the eatery a whopping 14 cents. The American Potato Growers Association pegged potato wholesale through March at $6 per 100 lbs. Gosh, that means an order of fries at this place cost them around 2 cents. Sysco, the nation's largest food distributor sells frozen mozzarella sticks for roughly 5 cents apiece, and Pepsico lists the cost of their fountain syrup at about 1 cent per ounce. So the actual cost of the food and beverages we ordered totals out at $3.58. Add to that maybe 15 minutes for the labor of the kitchen and waitstaff connected to order at say $15 per hour x 3 people and you can add $11.25 to our food cost of $3.58. That totals $14.83. According to the restaurant blog "Chef Talk," typical overhead for a chain eatery is about 35% of labor costs, so let's add another $5.20. That gets us to $20.03. Finally, not wanting to deny the wing kings some profit, let's add 20% for that, or an additional $4. The total, then, for the food, drinks, labor, overhead, and a 20% profit is $24.03. But I was charged $56 which is a 233% profit. To say that this eatery does not offer a good value is a colossal understatement. This place is obscenely overpriced and gets my first NEGATIVE STAR for value. Service: Ironically, we were served by a rather curt & grumpy waiter who sported an "I love my job" BWW shirt. On previous visits however (yes I have allowed myself to be hosed on more than one occasion) we have been served by some very nice and attentive waitstaff. As such I would have to say that the actual servers here offer a pretty good experience. After all, it isn't the employees fault the prices here are floating in the stratosphere. They get a star for service. Taken as a whole, Buffalo Wild Wings gets 1.5 stars. If they dump the chatty greeters, lower the prices dramatically, bring up quality a bit, and keep the good waitstaff they could do much better. read more

I don't see what's wrong with BDubs. Seems like any other location in the lower 48's. Can't seem to understand all of the bad reviews. I went really late one night and sat in the bar area, food was good just how I remembered it out of state, music was really good that night, and service was great. Perhaps all of these other bitter Alaskans were anticipating Buffalo Wild Wings so much it just couldn't/didn't live up to their impossible standards they imagined in their heads.
