Came here for the appetizer special they're running right now! Unlimited apps $9.99. Our server was so sweet and the food was great for the value! Sports-bar vibes with lots of tv's.

Underdone chicken wings
Scott D.

I'm going to have to go with the consensus here and give this location 2 1/2 stars, meaning it could be (much) better and struggling to be just "OK". I first started eating at BWW at their Windsor, CT location while working nearby and normally would give them 3-4 stars but this location fails to get there. The menu has a good variety and I've tried a lot of different things from here, but with 'wings' as part of your name and "Wings. Beer. Sports." as your slogan I'm sort-of expecting that you do chicken wings well. The other food is generally on the salty side and is a step-up from what I'd call "bar food" but the lunches I've had from the other location(s) have been decent. It's really hard to mess up the "Beer." part and almost impossible to botch the "Sports." one but the "Wings." is where this particular location seems to struggle. I've eaten chicken wings from dozens and dozens of different places in the state (and outside CT) and these aren't even close to top 10 or even 20. One particular order seems like it was deep fried for 2-3x as long as it should have been. They wound up very crispy but what little meat was there was completely dried out. Think about the turkey scene from the Christmas Vacation movie. If it weren't for the sauce there's no way I could have eaten those. After bringing this up to management I received no response, but they added 'reward points' to my BWW account. I'll reiterate my stance on that for those unfamiliar with my reviews - if you aren't going to fix the issue(s) I have no interest in any of your food, free or not. The times following this they swung to the opposite side of the spectrum, while they are cooked through the skin is rubbery and chewy which is just as bad as overcooked and dry. The nachos I got with the overcooked order I added brisket meat to(for an upcharge) and that was equally overdone. This in addition to not filling the orders correctly (no napkins, incorrect additions, etc.) brings them down to nearly a 2 star rating. I think the issue comes down to attention to detail, or lack of it. It's not that hard to cook chicken wings that are crispy without being overdone. I'm not sure if this is BWW failing to have the right protocols and procedures in place or the employees are just failing to execute on it. Either way it could be much, much better. 2 1/2 stars.

Bloody Mary time

We were driving back from Boston, it was nearing lunchtime, and we knew we'd get home too late to see the start of the Giant game, so stopping at BWW for lunch and some of that big screen NFL action seemed like a no-brainer. We scored a nice table in front of the screen showing the FOX pre-game show so we thought we were sitting pretty. Lunch ran us $32.19 and this is what we had - a Spiked Seltzer ($5), a Bloody Mary ($8.99), Street Tacos ($6.29), and Chicken Buffalitos with Fries ($9.99). My Buffalitos were two flour tacos loaded with grilled chicken, lettuce, pico de gallo, shredded cheddar, a few dollops of sour cream and my choice of wing sauce ( I went for Jamin' Jalapeno). They were terrific, and the side of fries was easily enough to split and share. Our server Bella was pleasant and helpful, and became particularly helpful when at 1:00 the FOX game broadcast turned out to be (who in CT cares?) the Chiefs and Lions, instead of the Giants-Redskins. We weren't the only ones who asked for the Giants, and eventually that game did show up on a few of the dozen screens (nowhere near us), but that was too late to catch the Giant's first TD. Now look, this really surprised me because BWW prides itself on being a great sports bar to watch the NFL on Sundays. After the Patriots, I'm confident the Giants are the second favorite team here in Connecticut, and the fact that BWW didn't even have their game on was a big disappointment. I think there was a complication between Direct TV broadcast rights and the local Fox broadcast, but if I was running the place I would have made darned sure these things were ironed out well in advance for my football loving customers. As a result, we had crappy seats for the game we went there to see, so we left as soon as our meal was over. Oh well, the Giants won big, our food and service were fine, but we kind of wished things would have been better all around. Fumble BWW!!!

Boneless mango habanero wings

Even in the pandemic, this place seems to be packed. This is a good spot to watch a game or have a beer with some finger foods. I went for a take out this time. Thursdays there is buy one get one boneless wings. There are a lot of types of sauces. It takes some trial and error to figure out the right one. Mango habenaro was really hot, but had flavor. Spicy garlic was too mild for me.

I came to BWW with my cousin tonight. We sat at the bar area and was greeted quickly w our waitress. She asked us what we wanted to drink and we stayed for now water. We looked at the menu, this is a place you kind of know the menu, and know what to order from there. We got two beers down east cider and miller lite, potatoe wedges with Cajun dry rub on top w a side of queso dip, and chicken wings. We have the dry rub chipotle, dessert heat, lemon pepper, and Asian zing. The beers we know how it Taste so nothing new about that; you see can't mess it up unless you are giving us some old skunk beer. As for the potato wedges w the Cajun dry rub; that was delicious! The chicken wings I had all flavors before besides the Asian zing. That flavor reminded me of the sweet Thai chili sauce you get at the Thai restaurant with spring rolls or shrimp in a blanket. That was dissatisfying and I won't ever order this again. Our waitress, who I won't mention her name on yelp; gave us a look that made us feel uncomfortable. She checked on us when the food arrived to ask us how are things ( I hate when people do this because I haven't even gotten a chance to take a bite into anything yet. How would I know how it taste already? ). Besides that she never came and we stayed for little over an hour. I had to ask another waiter to grab her so we can get the check to leave to grab drinks elsewhere. This isn't a place where you grab drinks to talk, it's very loud, and busy. I expect this of bww, due the waiters look I gave this review a 2 star. I know people can hate their job, but seriously if we were a bother just move us to another section!

Tried again, better but still lacking…read more Been a while since I've been to this location. Decided to give them another try and see if things have improved. Place was dead when I wandered in. Just myself and a couple other patrons at far sides of the place. Bartender was playing waitress as well. Very nice but very casual. Opted for their fruit juice mocktail and the jammin burger with loaded fries. Food and drink came out quick, so I took my pics and dug in. The mocktail was pretty much orange and pineapple juice with a fruit garnish. It was fine for what you got, and the price was reasonable at 4 bucks. Nothing special, but something to sip on if you're with company. The burger was executed flawlessly. Cooked well, not seasoned but done so with intention. The buttered bun and jam were salty to begin with, so they chose to unseason the burger, relying on the condiments to balance the dish out. The chef has skill, and you can tell it by their preparation. The trouble was the quality of the ingredients. The burger is straight ground meat, pressed to a patty and frozen. The chef did what they could to gussy up the burger, but was working with ingredients they could not control. When they had control in the ingredients and preparation, they put in care. The actual burger patty was very much the biggest detriment to the dish. The fries were good, cheap cheese and bagged fries but ample amounts of toppings and cooked perfectly. Good, but there's evidence that there could be something better. As a chain location tied to a bowling alley, it's perfectly fine pub bites. The servers are nice, but I feel that the chef is constrained. If given the opportunity, the chef could produce some magic on the plates. but they are stuck to the playbook, the source ingredients and the margins they need to stay in. That cheapens the food to cookie cutter molds and is a crying shame. The foods acceptable, the staff is good, and the venue is clean. One day I hope they can shed the chain and let the chef take the wheel. till then though, it's okay

While technically a sports bar, the food and drink quality is way above a normal sports bar. Right off the bat they serve waters. For mg first drink, I'm having a Black Manhattan made with Elijah Craig Small Batch, Carpano Antica, black walnut bitters and filthy cherries. Filthy Black Cherries are premium, all-natural Italian Amarena cherries, slow-cooked in copper pots and widely recognized as a top-tier garnish for whiskey and tequila cocktails, such as Old Fashioneds and Manhattans. Known for a sweet-tart flavor profile, they are a favorite among professional bartenders for their firm texture and rich syrup. The Manhattan is a classic, spirit-forward cocktail made with whiskey (traditionally rye), sweet vermouth, and Angostura bitters, stirred with ice and strained into a chilled glass, typically garnished with a maraschino cherry or a lemon twist. It's known for being strong, sophisticated, and balanced, with a mix of spicy, sweet, and bitter notes. This is real good. It is nicely garnished and perfectly balanced. I think the bartender is the owner. For out first appetizer, we are getting the Fornarelli's Meatballs. These are these of their "famous" meatballs made with their signature marinara sauce with fresh basil and mozzarella. These are good! Wow! We are next getting the Onion Rings which are their signature house-made onion rings fried golden brown with chipotle aioli. Yep. These are good! I like the sauce! For our third appetizer, we are getting the Sicilian Calamari which is fresh calamari and hot cherry peppers fried with their signature marinara sauce. These are tasty! I love the sauce! Sprinkle that lemon! For my next drink, I'm having the Pearly Old Fashioned made with Maker's Mark, filthy cherries, Cara Cara orange, raw sugar and Angostura bitters. It's known for being strong, sophisticated, and balanced, with a mix of spicy, sweet, and bitter notes. Oh yeah! This is well garnished and perfectly balanced. For my entree, I'm having the Chicken Piccata made with chicken breast sautéed with artichokes and capers in a white wine sauce and chefs choice of starch and veggies. This is delicious! I love the sauce! For dessert, I'm having the Nonna's Tiramisu. This is their authentic tiramisu recipe just like Nonna used to make! We are also getting the Covonut Gelato Truffle made with coconut gelato, mango sorbet center enrobed by chocolate and coconut flakes. This is the biggest chunk of tiramisu I've ever had! What a great meal here!

I could have cooked it hotter in my microwave for 2 minutes. The baked Mac and cheese with pulled pork was not baked, served with ziti noodles and shredded white pork barely garnished on the noodles. We had a group of 8 ppl excited to try this place out. As soon as we walked through the door everyone in the establishment stared at us as they whispered. The crowd was far from inviting or friendly. We approach the bar and on 2 occasions the folks playing pool told us we were in their way..(understandable..@Racks why place pool tables so close to the bar that makes it difficult for a large party to be able to order drinks??) Most of our party was able to order their drinks except for my self..my brother and a friend. A Man(brown skin) we DIDNT KNOW approached the bar and had an exchange of words with one his bartenders following up on a question he asked her to to confirm with the owner. She became flustered told him off claiming he was disrespectful etc..( this guy was by far very polite to her while I was standing there and was following up on the price of 10 shots) She DEFINITELY over reacted and made me feel very uncomfortable. She walks to the back.. at that point a friend of ours reached over to get the drink the bartender poured for him before she walked away and left us unattended wondering wth just happened. The Jameson bottle she used was empty and our friend thought it would be comical to pick up the empty Jameson bottle and make a sad face that there was no more since we needed a 2nd drink of Jameson. Bad timing to say the least..the owner/bartender approaches the bar ready for WAR! The owner points at us 4 ALL OF YOU ARE OUT OF HERE** I'm bewildered as to why he started yelling at us as if we were a problem when we we were not with the guy that the bartender had an issue with. ( PERHAPS..WAS IT BECAUSE I TOO AM BROWN SKINNED..AND WE MUST BE TOGETHER RIGHT???) At that point I gave the owner the benefit of the doubt and told him ," can I please talk to you privately its my brothers birthday and we don't know that guy". He says if its anything to do about this situation he doesn't want to hear it and we have to go!!!! I couldn't help but feel singled out and a sense of racism when he spoke and looked at us..to be quite honest this place was about 98% white..the guy at the bar (told to leave) with his friends were also colored..Come on!! I'm by far the last person to play the race card...but the way we were treated, lack of customer service or understanding from the owner screams if you're not local or their people ..YOU'RE NOT WELCOMED!! This place is HUGE and has so many different vibes all in one building, which I absolutely love. The drink selection is one of my favorite parts. They have so many beers on tap, plus cider flights, sour flights, beer flights -- all different types of flights if you're like me and enjoy trying a little bit of everything. And if beer isn't your thing, they have cocktails too, so everyone in your group can find something they like. The food is just as impressive. The Philly cheesesteak egg rolls are AMAZING -- crispy, flavorful, and honestly one of the main reasons I keep coming back. The burgers are delicious, and the desserts? Oh my goodness. The deep-fried Oreos are next-level. Atmosphere is where Elicit really stands out. There's the big open beer hall feel inside, but also different sections depending on what kind of night you're looking for. It can be chill and casual earlier in the evening, then turn into more of a going-out/club vibe later on. There's a cocktail bar upstairs, and as the night goes on the energy really shifts. In the summer they have bands (sometimes outside), a full outdoor bar, a fireplace, two inside bars, a little quieter lounge area with couches, and even a small game room. Bathrooms upstairs and downstairs make it convenient, and you can rent rooms for private parties too. I also like how the food ordering works -- they give you a pager and you pick up your food when it's ready. Tables are first come, first serve though, so definitely save your spot because you can lose your seat if you're not careful, especially on busy nights. It does get packed on weekends, so I recommend getting there early if you want a good table for your group. But overall, it's one of my go-to spots in Manchester when I want good drinks, great food, and a fun atmosphere. Definitely a place I'll keep going back to -- and those Philly cheesesteak egg rolls will always bring me back.
