We had such a great experience our first HH Saturday night we stopped in again Sunday for dinner and drinks. Makalah made our visits so wonderful she gets a shout out Thank You. Makalah, and her fellow bar staff. all made superb handcrafted (took a minute or too and so worth it) cocktails for us each night such as; Sweater Weather bourbon, Mexican Firing Squad tequila, and Sangria. We also enjoyed a excellent crisp Caesar salad with flank steak with our red wine was a great dinner. The staff of Central Reservation was welcoming, professional, and friendly and we appreciated that. Next visit to State College we are dining at Central Reservation for sure. Cheers.

We asked for the tomahawk steak to be cooked medium rare/medium, but when it came out, it was really hard to cut with the knife that they gave us. When we sliced open the steak, it was completely raw inside. We told the waitress that it was so raw that it was touch to choose and she said that "it's thick so it's impossible to cook through". I thought that was crazy to hear from a restaurant that has tomahawk steak on their menu. If you don't think it is possible to cook it well, then it should not be on the menu. We ended up taking it home and putting it in the air fryer, which made it taste so much better.

The menu also says this, and maybe it's unfair to give this spot a four but in my experience restaurants shouldn't be mixing items in their dishes and there are pretty good safe serve/allergy friendly practices out there to follow and I've never had any issues. This is the first time I got a response at an American grill that they can't serve anything. Maybe it's just new to me and they're being extra cautious which is not wrong, and this place came highly recommended so I'm sure it's earned more stars, but would love to hear opinions on allergies and places that don't have "safe" serving spaces for nut allergies. It's rare to find a place with so much passion for local ingredients and showcasing the season. This is the obvious spot for a celebration or to impress your out-of-town guests. The place is also gorgeous. It's cozy without being dark. The staff always welcomes you and checks in frequently. I also want to give a shoutout to the cocktails. Everything here is very well crafted and there's great variety. I also love the wines. The list is extensive, but you can't go wrong choosing a bottle from the seasonal highlights on the menu. The burger was that good. Because I want to end on a positive, let me start with negatives: the fries were okay. Normally these are a side dish not worth mentioning but this restaurant makes them a star with a fry menu. The other critical comment is my French onion soup (on take out) was really cold and we weren't late nor (but for the fries) anything else cold. To give you reference, I microwaved for 1 minute and was still cold and did another 1:30. But it was delicious. Now, why 5 stars? The burgers. My son and I both got the Lancaster burger with horseradish mayo on the side and substituting wagyu. It was heaven. It was perfection. We still think and talk about that burger and any food that makes you miss is worth 5 stars!
