We were here @ 5 yrs ago while driving from Chicago back to NY. Was @ 2000 n near bellafonte PA n hungry n found this restaurant on yelp n had no choice but to have dinner . Was the only restaurant open on a Sunday nite . Great choice n food was amazing. Fast forward 5 yrs n today we were Driving to Pittsburgh n going thru bellafonte n thought we'd go back.so stopped by. Friendly welcome staff not v fancy but clean restaurant. We ordered the tomato bisque, chili w corn bread, beet salad n Brussels sprouts. The chili w corn bread was v tasty n just enough for one person. . The best salad w red n golden beets had nuts goat cheese, greens n a nice dressing n generous portions for 2 to share. The Brussels sprouts was crispy , had bits of bacon n tasted good. On the way out saw these giant chocolate chip cookies by the cashiers desk n it looked good v soft . Hidden Gem...cozy spot....great food....congenial staff. Found this spot while trying to avoid a football weekend crowd in SC. Made a great choice! Smashed Bacon Cheeseburger was one of the best my grandson has had. Big, juicy, very flavorful. Roast Beef Grinder that was tender...but lacked seasoning. (Our group disagreed on this. 2 thumbs up, one sideways.) A great Reuben that ended up being just too big for me to finish. Delish! All our sandwiches were accompanied by accompanied by good fries that reminded me of In-and-Out Burger's fresh cut fries (or Miss Vickies Chips). read more

I always eat at the same two places when I go to State College. So during my last visit I forced myself to try something new. So it honestly doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside has a nice little table area and bar with a dining room to the rear. The front seating area has a nice cooler area with a great selection of micros. The tap menu isn't huge but it's a nice selection of good beer. Service was fast and friendly. I ended up getting a Collusion beer on tap. Sorry I didn't take a photo of my Reuben which was awesome. read more

First time here, we'll see how it goes in later review. After eating: This is the cook in the kitchen vaping, I was not able to get a video of him but saw him twice vaping. Pictures posted. Not sure of kitchen etiquette back there. This should not be allowed. What else is happening back there that we don't see. Food was good but I'm concerned about the cook vaping in the kitchen. I guess you eat at your own risk here I haven't given much thoughts on if I'll return or not. My first impression was not good. Maybe a Borad of health issues possibly. Small pub in Bellefonte that we tried since we're staying at a local B&B. Outdoor seating in front of the building plus a small back room for more seating. Nothing special to look at but it gets the job done. Service was excellent as our she knew all the specials and draft beers from memory. She floated in and out just the right number of times. Our food was very good. I had Buffalo wings and they were perfect. My gf got the bacon smash burger with sweet potato fries. Thumbs up. I am disappointed to give this 1 star review as we had high hopes for a great experience. Our friends who fish in the area have had nothing but great things to say about the food and atmosphere here. Although it was awhile back, I still see good reviews on here as well so we were looking forward to trying it out. The initial interaction was negative. We walked in and it was like we were bothering the 2 women working there. No friendly hello or anything. We sat at the bar and had menus tossed to us and immediately asked what we wanted without even looking at the menu. 2 items we wanted were unavailable but we adapted no problem and ordered a grilled ham and Swiss, a burger and the hot honey chicken sandwhich. As others came in we could tell they were more welcomed as the women smiled and joked with the patrons and kindly took their orders. We were ignored the biggest part of the time, my friend had no offer of another beer for 20 minutes and she didn't even give us the time of day to try and get another one. Our food came and boy what a let down. My hot honey chicken was a basic chicken patty you'd buy at Walmart or get at a school cafeteria. It had cheese and NONE of the other items mentioned (pickles, hot honey, etc), my husband's burger was undercooked and our friend's ham sandwhich was "ok". Again, couldn't even let them know because they were too busy talking to friends or going in the back. We finished, and waited....and waited...the one girl came from the back looked our way and immediately turned to serve about 6 people drinks. Never saying I'll be right there or attempting to do 2 things at once...no idea where the other girl went. Unfortunately this will not be a place we will be returning when we are in the area :( read more

Awesome little spot in Bellefonte. I had a really excellent bacon bloody mary which had a hint of pickle juice in it. I love a good bloody but feel like pickle is something that can easily be overdone and ruin the taste. Not here! They nailed it! Honestly I'm going to try doing this at home now, it was so good. Moving on to lunch, I had the Smashed Bacon Cheeseburger which is double beef, American, applewood bacon, caramelized onion, dijon and mayo on brioche. Again, I'm not an American cheese fan, usually preferring something with more punch, but this was exactly the right blend of flavors and is one of the best burgers I've had in awhile. Same goes for the house cut fries, perfectly crispy and perfectly seasoned. Lastly, but not leastly (?), service was on point. Oh...the place is also a bottle shop so you can get a beer to go. The food at Four Ways is top-notch bar food. A variety of burgers, burnt ends (with a delicious dipping sauce), and one of the best Reubens in the county make it a great choice for lunch or dinner. There's also an exceptional beer selection, both on tap and in bottle/can (they do a good takeout business). The service is attentive and personable. The only thing that's not great is the ambiance; it's kind of bright and noisy. But I still find myself here pretty often. read more

While working in PA I was tipped off about a small eatery, off the beaten path, with great food. So that's where I went. Asked for recommendations from the bar tender. She was great. Set me up with a nice light brew and Reuben that would rival any sandwich in NY. The sweet potato fries were killer and the beer to-go selection was excellent! On a recent visit to PA, we visited Four Ways Pub in Bellefonte. This was my second visit and again, it was great! Four Ways is not pretentious and has a great selection of craft beer and take away beer, as well. There is always good bites made to order. You can also find a hand full of mixology drinks on special because there is a full bar. Make note that Four Ways isn't that big of a place but it's great for watching a game or catching up. The service is great and standouts in the service arena are: Augusta; Jasmine; and Ellie! We recently had Jasmine on our Saturday stop over and she was sweet and accommodating and handling much of the place that was pretty busy single handed. I loved my Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup, ( I am not usually a Tomato Soup fan but she convinced me I would love it..she was not wrong!) ; I added bacon to the grilled cheese and it was a sinful, cheesy delight and the bread was amazing! My husband got the Smashed Burger .. the fries.. handcut !!! .. and it was ALL , also soooo tasty! His Bloody Mary was yummy; and I had a hot cider with a shot of Bulleit .. One was enough since our day was just beginning. Our water glasses never ran dry. The bathrooms are gender neutral and were spotless; in fact, the entire restaurant was. I highly recommend Four Ways when in the State College/Bellefonte area especially if you like a great home made simple but delightful menu and great drinks to go with! read more

The special was sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and pork... A good way to ring in the new year or at least prepare for it. I ended up getting "bangers and mash" for $22. Although I did get a tiny bit of pork I certainly wasn't expecting sausage because I didn't order it. The sausage was good, the pork was OK but I really didn't have enough on my plate to make an informed decision (maybe 4-5 bites) and the sauerkraut was bone dry. In fact, when I was finished eating, my plate didn't even glisten with a hint of moisture. My buddy and I come here a couple times a year as a guys day out for lunch because of his busy schedule and the food is always great... And I mean great. Been coming here for about 3 years now and it's a hidden gem. I've met some people from Bellefonte that don't even know it exists. The burgers are hands down the best around here and State College. You can't go wrong with any of the food here. The beer/cider selection is always in good taste, and the Sangria is absolutely amazing. We had a blueberry/pomegranate sangria and found out that they change the flavor every week. Lastly, the staff is always friendly and the food comes out quick. We were told 45 mins to get an inside table or an outside table we could be served right away. We opted for outside. After 15 minutes we got our own menus. We waited for another 30 mins before saw a waitress to order and another 30 mins for food. No drink refills, no acknowledgment. All the while we seen others that waited for inside service be served ahead of us. Then the waitress brought the wrong food to one of us. When our friend said don't bother correcting it, we don''t have time to wait, the waitress said she would get it right away. Within 5 mins she had the correct sandwich. So why did we wait over an hour for sandwiches?? No food is worth that type of poor service. No apologies. No explanation. My advice, if you aren't waited on within 10 minutes... leave. It only gets worse. As for your response, I'm not interested in arguing. Just to clarify. I was not the one who had the wrong order. I received what I ordered. That was not the reason for my review or rating. The reason was being ignored until someone in the group would yet again return inside and ask for help. At least four times that I remember. Menus. To place our order. Water. Refills. Over nearly a 90 minute span. All while the other groups, who arrived later, were waited on and served prior to us. I hope you are able to get more help. I'm sure that would help the problem. Or just be upfront with people and state, it will be over an hour before we can serve you. read more

We decided to take a ride on the Harley from the Harrisburg area to State College. I'm a Penn State grad and need my fix of Penn State every now and then. We researched places to eat in the area and decided on Four ways since it was a short ride to Bellefonte from Penn State. I had the grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup. The soup was absolutely amazing. Very flavorful and rich. The sandwich had several different kinds of cheeses and was really good. My wife and our friend each had the Smash Burger and both of them loved it. We will definitely be back the next time we are in the State College area. I was staying at the KOA with my wife and my mother for her 74th birthday and searched yelp as I am only familiar with State College. I saw this restaurant/bottle shop had amazing reviews. When you first pull up it looks like a beer distributor, to the point that when I got out of my SUV they sat still in the vehicle. When we entered we were met by an eager and friendly server and seated quickly. The food is amazing and we started with the house made chips appetizer which was delicious. For main courses we ordered the Cajun beef and roast beef grinder. The Cajun beef was succulent, delicious and had a slight bite but nothing over powering. The roast beef grinder was also an awesome sandwich. They also have a decent potato salad which is hard for me to say as I only like it down south at BBQ joints. Don't let the front confuse you, this is an awesome place to grab a solid farm to table sandwich with great drinks and amazing service. read more

Hubby and I took the bike for a ride up to Penn State and decided to come here for lunch based on the Yelp reviews. I got a burger, my one complaint was that it had very little bacon on it. But it sure was tasty! I was unable to get home-cut fries because there was some issue where they had to use frozen fries. Hubby had grilled cheese and tomato soup and he absolutely loved it. I tried the soup and it was really flavorful and rich. I'm coming back again to try other menu items and (hopefully) the home-cut fries when we are here in September for Penn State's white-out game! read more
