It was a regular experience at Buffet Star. Staff is quick . Buffet was good, I really enjoyed the coconut chicken and the angel hair vegetable noodles. Place is busy and super packed. AC was not working well. They had some cute decor. I like the waterfall fountain and cherry blossom flower tables. Everything was about average. Checkout was easy.

The atmosphere here was a 10. Everyone was kind and upbeat. The food was very good and warm. I was very impressed with the dinner buffet. Please do yourself a favor and stop by if you haven't.

I always like going to Buffet star more then any of the other buffets around the area. They always have hot food where as most of the others are kind of cold. Wide variety of different thi gs to eat so there is something for everyone there. Service was very good with this visit as it is with most visits. The ambiance is very welcoming and clean and so is the areas where the food is. Will always go back to this buffet!

The staff were pleasant and kept up with taking plates quickly. So many buffet tables. 5 plus the Mongolian Grill and Sushi station. The Lo Mein and Mei Fun were very tasty. A tiny bit cold but that's to be expected at a buffet. They are constantly up keeping the tables , which is nice. They have a large salad and dessert selection. There is something for everyone; vegetarian , pescatarian and meat eaters. Excellent choice during lent if you're going to eat out. I was not a fan of the olives or the pickles, but that is just a flavor preference. The Eggrolls and Egg Foo Young were delicious. Highly recommend. Quality food and many options with affordable prices. We plan on going back again next week for the dinner buffet.

    Deeeeeeeelicious!

The WORST buffet I've ever gone to. If I could give zero stars I would. The two stars are for the hibachi because that's what I enjoyed.

The atmosphere here is quite different from the Myrtle Beach location. Instead of a beachy vibe, it has more of a colonial feel that fits Williamsburg perfectly. We were seated at a cozy table for two near the fireplace, which made for a warm, relaxing atmosphere. As for the food--exactly what we'd hoped for. The crab legs kept coming, the peel-and-eat shrimp were plentiful, and everything we tried was fresh and delicious. If you're going for seafood, you'll leave happy. We arrived right when they opened, which turned out to be a great decision. The restaurant was calm and uncrowded when we sat down, but by the time we finished eating, there was a line and the place was absolutely packed. If you're in Williamsburg and craving seafood, I highly recommend Captain George's. Just do yourself a favor and go early--you'll beat the crowds and enjoy the experience even more.

Again - Well worth the wait. I have to emphasize that because at first glance, there doesn't look like much. There's one buffet stand with a small salad stand at the end, a carving station, and one dessert stand tucked in the corner. I consider myself quite the connoisseur of down home Virginia cooking, and it can be hard to find a place that gets it right, but Nanny's knocks it out of the park. The parking lot isn't jumping for nothing! A lot of the reviews mention the items available in detail, and the menu rotates a little, so I'm going to stick to the highlights. Navy bean soup - outstanding and very soppable. String beans - perfectly cooked. Mashed potatoes topped with some hamburger steak and gravy - homemade and melt in your mouth. Crispy crunchy moist fried chicken. Seasoned and tender greens. All the BBQ offerings - traditional and flavorful without doing too much. The desserts? Fresh out of your gramma's kitchen. I did almost take off a star because the banana pudding didn't have any whip or meringue on top, but everything was so outstanding I'll let it slide :) The price is, I think, more than fair for the quality of the food. They also never let anything run out for too long and fresh supply was in and out of the kitchen regularly. Top that off with friendly faces, quick service, and an atmosphere that's more like being at a family reunion than a restaurant, and you've got one heck of a spot for good eating!

Stopped by for the lunch buffet on a weekday. Buffet ran about $15 and we found it to be worth…read moreevery penny. First trip to the buffet, I tried the fried chicken (skin was a little too salty for me, but the meat itself was juicy and delicious), the hushpuppies (so crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside: delicious!), mashed potatoes with hamburger steak and gravy (soooooooooo good!!!), cabbage (good), Mac n cheese (soooooo cheesy and delicious. I could feel my arteries clogging, but that's how you know it is good), chopped bbq (tasty, but I would have loved a different bbq sauce, theirs is a little too vinegar heavy for my personal preference), and a sausage (soooooo good! I could have eaten about 50 of them!). Also had some potato salad and Cole slaw on the side that were both straight out of my childhood in Georgia. My second trip to the buffet, I had to get more mashed potatoes and hamburger with gravy, Mac n cheese, and hush puppies because they were awesome. Added some chicken and dumplings (yum!), corn (sooooooo great mixed with the mashed potatoes), as well as the peach cobbler (I wish the peaches were chopped smaller so they weren't so hard to swallow), apple cobbler (pretty good), and banana pudding (amazing!!!) I wish I had room for a cup of their ice cream, it was all those little cups but they had a bunch of flavors like vanilla, strawberry, chocolate and COFFEE! I'll save some space next time. Everyone we interacted with was super nice and the decor looks like every barbecue restaurant I've ever been in with pig decor everywhere. I really like that They used more spices than just salt. This is one of the very few buffets I've ever been to that. It was not just overwhelmingly salty I also really liked their waiting room for when the restaurant gets too crowded and you have to get put on a list. There was so much seating that I would not have been annoyed standing around waiting for my table. We did not have to this time, because we were seated immediately, but it's good to know that you have options if you're ever here during a really crowded time of day. I will say that the temperature was a little too warm for my likings, so even though a lot of the clientele of a certain age shall we say were very comfortable, we ended up sweating and feeling a bit nauseated by the time it was time to go because it was just so hot. Definitely going sleeveless clothes next time I come here. I cannot wait to come back and demolish their buffet again. It was all so good.

Just when I thought they couldn't get any worse…read more.. Prior to COVID, we visited this Golden Corral fairly often because their food was usually great - pipping hot, and as good as, if not better than home cooking. Only the clientele who occasionally 'misbehaved' at the buffet kept us from being weekly regulars. However, the last few times we visited Golden Corral (post COVID) we found that the food quality had dropped dramatically. Today's visit confirmed our worst fears. We arrived at about 7:30P for dinner. I was immediately startled at the cost which was $75 for three adults. At Golden Corral?? I can't imagine what it would cost to take a large family there. But what made that new cost a insult to sanity was the food quality. The shrimp was so clearly frozen as to be embarrassing. The pot roast was virtually all vegetables with almost no meat. The seasoned steak fries lacked the key ingredient of seasoning. Etcetera, etcetera. About the only items that were eatable was on the salad bar. Not a single heated item I sampled was hot. All were lukewarm at best and a few were cold. AND, nothing was seasoned at all. It was as if I were eating at a high school cafeteria. Most of their food items were plentiful. You just didn't want it. My wife mentioned the temperature issue to one of the waitresses. She told her it was because they were preparing to close... in an hour. I didn't recall getting a discount from the $25/person fee for being short changed on the quality of the meal. Anyway, what does preparing to close have to do with the seasoning the food? Though I used to enjoy eating at the Golden Corral for some good home cooking, I won't make that mistake again.

I went back the other night because my son asked to go. When we walked inside it was a little different. Good bye 90s, hello 2025! When you walk in you get your drink, then head to the cashier. After you pay you go ahead and find a seat. I am sure when it is busy they seat you. But, we were there around 3:30pm. We actually were there for early bird pricing. It cost $12.50 for our meal each of us. Once inside we found seating in a booth. Now the seating is a little cramped when everyone is using a table. It was hard to get by a few times. The bar areas were pretty clean. It was around 4pm. The staff was working hard. Whether they were prepping food, clearing tables or cleaning. There is new lighting and paint ect. They revamped and updated. Which is a nice look. One pet peeve for me is when employees at any business have their ear buds in. You should just have your phone to your ear. It gives off the vibe that you don't want to listen or care to listen. I did notice a few people who had them in their ear. Overall, I would return and most likely for early bird. It was not bad.

Hand it off to the grillmaster, they'll cook it all up real quickly, and off you go with screaming hot and fresh saute. We're partial to lots of garlic and ginger water, a little bit of Mongolian sauce, and the spicy herb, but all up to you! For the rest of the buffet, I mean, it's an all-you-can-eat buffet in a smallish town. A lot depends on how busy it happens to be, and how quickly the food in the chafing pans is turning over. If it's slow and stuff sits, meh. If it's busier and/or you pick from the items that are fresher, pretty decent. Seriously though, the Mongolian grill section alone is worth the price of admission.
