The best BBQ in the area!…read more One walks into this restaurant with a "Where have you been all my life?!" feeling and leave there feeling like they have experienced a phenomenon of culinary bliss! This restaurant does NOT disappoint! We really enjoyed our experience at this relaxed restaurant. Rebecca, our server, did an excellent job anticipating our needs and flawlessly ensured our order was correct. She was awesome! Food is UNBELIEVABLY EXCELLENT! The brisket and pulled pork was perfectly done! The potato salad and banana pudding were great. My son had the half-rack of ribs and the portion they brought out looked like a whole rack. We've never seen our son eat ribs so quickly - he devoured them in what was likely a record time, and if you knew this kid - he doesn't get in a hurry for anything...but had we reached over his plate we would likely be missing fingers... lol The brisket was tender, juicy, and very flavorful. My wife enjoyed the chicken and brisket. The collard greens were perfectly done. The sauces were great! Banana pudding was the best you can get aside from having homemade. We live about 40 minutes from this restaurant and in another county - but we will now be regular fixtures at this restaurant. They are definitely the G.O.A.T. in a 4 county area! Do give them a try!

The pulled pork was also very good. they have six or so different barbecue sauces, so you should be able to find one that works for you. Cornbread was solid. I have absolutely no complaints. We chose the outdoor seating because it was a beautiful day, I even brought the baby stroller! I ordered the pork sandwich NY style with the coleslaw on it, it was pretty good! I thought my bun was a little dry and my meat wasn't as warm as I would've liked..HOWEVER, the flavor was really good and the SIDES were so yummmmy!!! The mac and cheese was really good and I'm picky about what mac I eat the cherry cheesecake I mixed all up with the toppings and omg I could've ordered that alone and had several and been happy with it my husband got the brisket and he said while the flavor was there, there was a lot of fat he was picking off of it. He's had their brisket before and it had zero fat on it, so maybe it was just this once! He also said the sweet tea and the fries were REALLY good they did have a great selection of bbq sauces on the tables so that was a nice touch too all in all, we really enjoyed our experience and walked out with happy bellies definitely recommend if you're looking for an affordable bbq joint that has really good flavor and atmosphere!!

It tasted so dry and as if it had been reheated over and over again. It tasted like oily pulled pork. I got no brisket flavor at all. It was so bad that neither of us could finish. We guzzled our drinks to wash the taste down. Even the drink was a syrupy mess of ice and a little liquid. So bad that I didn't even take photos except of the cup itself. Nice logo We got the food at the Salem fair this afternoon. Two drinks, a loaded fries and a plate was about $47. I know fiar fair food is expensive but this was a total waste being we didn't even eat it. The plate came with baked beans, cole slaw and a bun with shredded brisket. The fries was brisket on top of fries with sour cream, scallions, and melted cheese. I was surprised to find they have a brick and mortar restaurant in WV and we made a promise to avoid it if we ever pass by. I would skip this place if at the fair. The staff was friendly but the food was a disaster.

He confirmed that we had enough plasticware, sauces, seasonings and helped me carry my order to my car. My food was prepared correctly, presentation was great (considering it was a carry out order), and precise. Flavor of the food was perfect. It was hot, tender and a wonderful smoked flavor. Sauces were extremely savory. I would most definitely recommend Due South BBQ for your next event.

Picture a no-nonsense Southern BBQ joint--the kind where you smell the smoke before you even open…read morethe door. Inside, it's all worn wood tables, checkered paper, and the low hum of conversation over country music. The walls might have a few local photos or license plates, but nothing fancy--this place lets the food do the talking. The pulled pork sandwich is the star. It comes piled high, the meat slow-smoked for hours until it practically falls apart. Each bite hits with that perfect balance--smoky, tender, just a little crispy on the edges. Then there's the sauce situation. You've got options lined up on the table--sweet and sticky and tangy vinegar-based. Half the fun is mixing and matching until you land on your perfect combo. On the side, golden hush puppies arrive hot and crisp--crunchy on the outside, soft and slightly sweet inside. The fries are perfectly salted, and just begging to be dipped in leftover sauce. And dessert? Banana pudding, served cold in a simple cup with layers of creamy vanilla pudding, sliced bananas, and soft vanilla wafers that have soaked just enough to melt into everything. It's rich without being heavy--the kind of dessert that feels like it came straight from someone's grandmother's kitchen. It's not fancy, it's not trendy--but it's exactly what you want when you're craving real, honest BBQ.
