This Build-A-Bear Workshop is inside Stoneridge Shopping Center. This mall may get somewhat busy on the weekends. Parking may be hit or miss at some entrances, especially the ones by the restaurants, but there is usually parking scattered around. They are located on the first floor, across from Uniqlo and the best entrance is through the Macy's Mens. Some of the employees are nicer than others at this location - some were not as helpful and it takes awhile to be helped or rung up here. This BAB location seems to have more selection compared to their Great Mall location, but they do not have some of the newer stuff that I can find at the Great Mall one. I like this location because they have more graphic t-shirts that I could not find at their Milpitas store. My little one wanted to build a bear for Christmas. Remember, you are paying for the overall experience. First, you pick the shell of the animal you want to stuff. The next step is optional. They have themed music and phrases to go along with your item. You also have the option to record your voice or even add the sound of a real heart beat. All for a fee of course. This step is used if you want to initiate sound when squeezing the hand or foot. Now it's time to stuff your item!! Technically they stuff it for you, but you get to control the machine. There is an option that allows you to give your stuffed animal a scent. We were told the scent lasts 2-3years! SCENTiments come in Rose, Strawberry, lavender, birthday cake, bubble gum & peppermint. My son chose the cotton candy fragrance. After stuffing the animal, you then get to bring your new friend to life. This is the cutest part :) Once your furry friend is sealed, you can take it to the 'wash' station. Just an added step (free) to extend the experience. Once you name your new friend, they print out a birth certificate that you get to keep. At this point you are done. But if you want to further personalize your furry friend, they have a wide variety of clothing, shoes and accessories! Our bill, Reindeer $29.50. Sound $8. Scent $4.50. Clothing $13.50. Found my 1 year old pulling stuffing out of her bear even 2 weeks after. I'm not sure when the stitching became undone but she has only been hugging the bear gently in car rides. Please double check the stitching. In store, staff were nice. I came in today 12/30/24, after suddenly losing my beloved golden retriever four days ago. I had called ahead to ensure I could have my Australian shepherd with me and an associate of the store assured me I could. I was able to include a container of my girl's fur and an audio recording of her being her chatterbox self in each bear. I can't thank the staff enough for being so helpful, but especially Mariah, who is filling in from another store today. She was so kind and patient, and incredibly empathetic when I couldn't quite keep the tears in. I'm happy to see all the exciting kids in the Build-A-Bear Workshop. The store is colorful. The store has lots of happiness and joyful kids and their families. They have lots of choices of bears or other animals' cloth dolls available in the store. I'm sure your kids will fall in love with some dolls there, and they are also making their dolls. I can't imagine how much fun they will have as they are watching their doll animal born in front of them. The prices are very similar to many years ago when Build-A-Bear Workshop had just opened. If I could give the staff here 50 stars I definitely would! I placed an order online for pickup. My mother passed away so I had 4 bears made for family members with my mothers voice. My sister had one made for me and the voice sounded creepy. Like a robot. I told Jessica and I explained my mom passed away but the sound was creepy and she gladly switched it out! :) thank you so much. I went this morning and I was having issues because they didn't see the order on their end. I had to call the voice recordings in and Jessica let me go in the back and redo them as many times as needed. She was very patient because it was a voice mail and it was not sounding right. She said in order for the online order to come through on their end I had to complete the voice recordings. I let her know I didn't want my family to have recordings that sounded like a robot. She suggested next time call the store to see if they have the white voice chips. She switched out my voice chip for a new recording. I liked how it sounded better on the white chips it was more clearer. She let me do the recordings again on them in the back where it was quiet. I swear I did it over a million times to get it right. Her and her co worker we're very friendly and when I was finished she let me know it would be a couple of hours before it came through on their end. I was called I think by Joan I'm sorry I forgot her name to let me know everything was ready. It was different staff members this time when I came in that helped me. I ended up getting 3 more pants I forgot to buy the other 3 pants I only had one on the online order. The girl that rang me up helped me squeeze the bears hands to make sure it was the right recordings and placed them in a big bag to carry out! Thank you AM staff Jessica and the other young lady there I did not catch her name and the staff around 6:15 pm who helped me! I was trying to hold back tears because my moms recordings kept playing when Jessica had to cut my bear open to replace the recording! Not sure what in the world was going on but, drove from Fremont to build a bear for daughters birthday. Stood in front of a gate at the mall for 30 minutes past opening. Went for a walk came back gate still down. Now 3 other groups waiting. After talking with one Dad he said same thing the previous night. Someone was there at some point because a door was opened in back that was closed and the sign had changed on the gate. A sign lacking detail. I understand things happen, but if your closed in a mall there need to be a sign with more info than "open at 11" (then never opening) and a sign saying " temporarily closed" closed temporarily till when???? read more

We heard about the "pay your age" event they do for your baby's birthday and we were super excited. We had our first child in 2020. Saying that, a lot of things we couldn't wait to do as parents definitely were put on hold. The store was very clean and everyone in the store properly wore their mask and socially distanced! We waited by the door and were greeted right away. The women who created us had such an amazing attitude and was the sweetest! We got our baby the birthday bear and a peep one! We were one of the 200k who won a ticket for "pay your age day!" And we always got an extra ticket. So it was a "pay your age day + 1 friend" so basically 2 pay your age day tickets. So dope! We only ended up using 1. We did offer our other one to the lady behind us in line, but apparently she was a snotty woman cause she just flat out ignored me.. rude. She was purchasing 3 different bears, so she must have it like that! I was just trynna be nice. That's what I get. Anyways I was sooo excited as in 2018 I wanted to go when my daughter was 1. We were actually all ready to go to the mall, then right before leaving, I was turning the TV off when the news made an announcement saying that lines are crazy long, some are all the way out to the parking lots. They're running out of alot of items, people were physically fighting over bears lmaooo!!! I was like it is NOT that serious. We were living in Fremont at the time and the closest Build A Bear was in Pleasanton. So it would've been a long wasted drive for us just to arrive and find out that they were cancelling it and sending people home because of the madness. We definitely dodged a bullet. So after 2019 they did it a smart way, by only giving 200k people all across the world a ticket for "pay your age" We luckily won! It was a 2 day event so we could go in either day. I had never been to Build A Bear and whenever walking past it, I never really payed any attention to how they actually did it. It's definitely funny! Adult Humor It's so cute. How you pick a bear, they stuff it, you can add a heart, voices, scents. It's truly beautiful! They do a cute little thing where they have the kids hug & kiss the heart before putting it inside. So sweet!! We literally paid $2!!!!!!!! And my daughter made the most beautiful Pony on skates! Which we named Sparkles, but we call her Lady Glitter Sparkles from Trolls. We have had several interactions with this place since we scheduled my son's fourth birthday party. Almost all of them have been bad. The first time I tried to order an "online exclusive" from the website, and I was told I would not have to pay shipping if I ordered from the store. When the bear went on sale, my husband hurried in to make good on it, only to have someone from the store tell him they would not honor the sale price. Even without shipping, we were charged more than if we had just ordered from the website. Weeks ago, we made a reservation for our son's fourth birthday party. We paid for it with a credit card, the charge went through, and then we sent invitations. A few days before the party we called the store again to give them a headcount and learned that they didn't have our reservation anymore. Eventually we were told we could make a new one on the same day and time. Weird, but okay. We were told some machine had been broken the first time we made the reservation. On the day of the party, when we walked in and introduced ourselves, people looked around like they were on a panic. A woman asked me for our information again and finally found something scribbled on a piece of paper. "Sorry," she said. "Machine's broken." So they basically just never fixed it for weeks. Prior to making our reservation for the first time, I spent at least half an hour on the phone with someone who seemed helpful. She promised (and an online description confirmed) that a staff member would lead the children in building bears, games, and songs. She assured me they were experienced at handling large crowds of mixed ages as young as 2. She said the reservation was for an hour and that they would move some of the displays around to section off the party from the rest of the crowded store. Instead...we couldn't start on time because the party leader, Madi, was half an hour late. Half an hour! When she arrived, she barely spoke with us and barely interacted with the kids except to direct them to the parts and bears. When all the children were assembled in front of the machine to stuff the bears, she asked my son, who is shy, if he wanted to sing a song or play a game. He said no. Then she didn't engage him or any of the other children for games or songs after that; instead she solemnly filled bears with stuffing while the children began milling around. "I want to go home," my son said at that point. He had been the first to fill his stuffed animal and had nothing to do. He looks utterly morose in most pictures. Eventually I noticed that a second worker had started to fill bears, to get this debacle over faster. How can you have a young kid's party without games, songs, drinks, or food (the last two are banned because they don't want spills)? It felt transactional; we were really just taking his friends shopping and modeling consumption for the other kids at the mall. There was no privacy. No one bothered to rearrange things for a feeling of separation from the rest of the mall. We couldn't get anyone to help us with anything until the party leader showed up half an hour late. We had a larger number of people show up than RSVPed. Some kids who were invited and RSVPed brought uninvited, unanticipated siblings who also made bears. That's not BAB's fault, but because of how the party leader handled things (late and then had to barrel into things, not that interactive with kids or us) what started out as a socially awkward situation got out of our control. There was no central theme to the party besides purchasing a stuffed animal, so people just left after theirs were done. One woman who brought two siblings left while another parent of two siblings offered to pay for his uninvited kid. There was no accounting of who was doing what until the very end with the party leader ringing us up. When my husband and I were feeling frantic (we had no plans to entertain the 16 or so young kids in the mall for half an hour before they could touch anything), we overheard the demoralized staff members talking about the party leader, Madi: "Of course she's late." "How long is she going to keep getting away with this?" To us they just said: "We're really sorry, we can't do anything, she's not here yet." So basically this is a recurring problem that the store does not take seriously and that staff members for whatever reason are disempowered to fix. "Would you recommend BAB for birthday parties?" Two parents have asked since then. No! Not this location. Certainly not. read more

This place is insanely great! I had the good fortune to stop and get a tour of the whole store. You first buy a little bear and then you fill them up with stuffing, which is included in the price. The machine that does the stuffing is really wild. Has lots of fun colors and shoots the stuffing into your bear when you push the pedal. It's a lot of fun! I was hoping that they would demonstrate how all the stuffing could just go flying out into the store, but they said that would make a big mess. You can give your bear a bath or buy accessories for me as well. Of course, the bath machine does not really use water. It just uses air, but it's still a lot of fun for the kids. There are fake bars of soap as well. You can even add little sounds inside such as a beating heart, or even your own voice. Adding your own voice cost $8 extra. The folks who work here obviously love what they're doing. They are really friendly and cheerful around the kids. They were very patient and informative with all of my questions. They have a special feature that I wanted to mention. Each bear comes with a free lifetime guarantee. You don't even need the receipt. Just bring it back to any Build-A-Bear Workshop and they will fix it for you. Here's another great deal. On your birthday, you can buy the plain brown bear and pay just the number of years of your age. So if you're 5 years old guess what you only pay $5. I told them my granddaughter was 6 months and I wondered if that would just cost me 50 cents? A special shout-out to Justin, who was kind enough to show me how all the stuffings work. After watching how to train your dragon 3 I decided to take my kiddos to build-a-bear to build their own dragons. They quickly chose their own toothless and light fury dragons to create. Lindsey was a very helpful and cheery associate who helped my children stuff their dragons to their desired softness, place a heart inside and stitch their dragons up. The kids are in love with their new fluffy friends. The downside of this location is its size. It is one of the smallest locations that I have been to so when it is busy it is REALLY hard to move around. There was a daisy troop there when we were visiting and it made for a difficult trip through the store. They also have an odd flow through the location compared to others I have visited which makes you walk back and forth across the store looking for items along with the bathing, dressing and naming stations. Not to mention how small the dressing station is! I would most likely look for a larger store next time. read more

We came in to purchase a birthday gift and we received the BEST customer service EVER by Monica. Monica helped us build a special birthday bear for a 1st birthday present. Monica's Service was above and beyond and informative. The store was a bit busy, with customers coming in and out and she seemed to be the only one working but she made sure to greet each customer and if there was a wait she insured each person she would be with them shortly -- not everyone does this. Also, Monica explained the birthday bear info which is great because my son will be one soon and this will be a great tradition to do with him! 10/10 for Monica! read more

We were invited by friends for their daughter's 5th birthday celebration here. I have to say I'm sincerely impressed at not only the large selection of bears but the female birthday hostess amazing ability to keep the kids engaged with her interactive personality from the beginning to the end. The store's layout looks bright and cheerful. The staff overall were friendly helpful and accommodating with a bright cheerful attentive attitude. The only one bad exception was there was a male staff who couldn't keep his jeans/pants on and kept revealing plumbers butt crack at various times throughout the party session whenever he leaned over to help search/pull irma from lower drawers etc. I don't believe he knew it was happening but I'm suggesting that he covers up better since there are parents and young kids around that that is truly a sight for sore eyes. The part package allows each child to pick out any bear, pick a music, a heart, an outfit, bear comes with birth certificate and a lil bag. Really fun event for the lil ones! Oh my gosh, I cannot say enough good things about this location. We had my daughters 6th birthday here yesterday and they did such a fantastic job. We got there about 10 minutes late, but they didn't make us feel bad at all, they just took us right in. Our party hostess, Monica, was so happy and energetic the entire time. She had the kids attention from start to finish. We chose the party package that was $18 per child, and Monica showed the kids the two options they could choose from. Only having two options was amazing, because it didn't take them long to decide on what they wanted. Monica had the kids line up and follow her to the filling area and sit down. She then gave them each a heart and had them make a wish and place it in their stuffy. Monica played "eye spy" with them while they filled their stuffies, then after they were all done she had them "bathe" them. Monica helped them all pick out shirts for their stuffies, and got the kids all set up with birth certificates for their animals, homes and little boxes of candies. She gave my daughter a stuffed cupcake that slips onto the hands of the stuffed animal, and we sang happy birthday. My husband and mom took the kids outside for a snack, and I finished up paying. I was so frustrated with my experience at this location. We came in to get my son a bear for his birthday. No one specified that their was a particular bear I would need to get for my son. They had a promotion for buy one, and get the other for $10 so I was expecting to pay half of what I ended up paying at the end. In addition, the line management of where to do a recording versus the stuffing. A lady started an argument with me that I was in the wrong line for the stuffing even though she was still working on getting recordings done for her 3 kids. Not sure of others saying the staff was rude. I just took my nieces here today this afternoon and the associate Monica was amazing with my oldest niece! She was warm, inviting and just amazing with her. You can tell she really likes what she does and keeps the kids engaged during the whole process. I was there during a party on the 19th (the saturday before Thanksgiving!) in the late afternoon. The poor staff of four was overrun by a lot of people when a large party came in. When the large party started it was apparent that the girl that was running the party was trying her hardest to keep the party together and entertained while she played games with the group and sung to them. Meanwhile, the other four staff members kept the store running. It's a pretty decent sized store but it seemed to be packed due to the party that took up a good percent of the store. Anywho, the staff was great! They tried their hardest to keep up with the amount of regular costumers that weren't part of the large party. The 30 minutes I was in the store with friends was a bit hectic but staff did their best to keep the lines for the stuffing machine and register going. read more

Fun place to come make custom teddy bears. Lots of different ones to choose from you give it life and spend lots of money on swaggin it up! My son is currently into Paw Patrol so when we found out they had them we got him Marshall! He had such a great time making him come to life and now sleeps with it every night it was worth $60 bucks I spent haha. The workers here are so nice and friendly as they should be having to deal with mainly children and yes you have to have patience so I bow to you guys! Knocked one star for cost. The two is due to the customer service we got on our visit yesterday. The store itself is a 4 star. The store is fun and inviting. It's well displayed and always fun for the kids. They seem to keep the merchandise cleaned up and put in order which is a big feet with that many kids in there all the time. The pricing is really reasonable. We found it about two years back for our December baby. It gave us something to do with him close to the holidays and still celebrate him. The service we got that time was so amazing I called the GM on Monday to let them know. This trip was not that great... We were not greeted and yet there were ample employees and only one child making a bear. My two youngest children were ignored. While I was asked if I needed help to find anything, the kids were not addressed. (They usually are when we are in here) Once we had found the item my son was looking for we approached the register and no one noticed until I asked if we could helped. The lady who came to help us didn't know how to use the coupon we had. Which we later found out it was her second day. I'm not against giving someone time to learn, you'd think a more seasoned employee might be partnered with a new one. After she asked for assistance, two people came over. One obviously knew what she was doing and helped train the new sales lady. The problem was they ignored all of us. The kids even commented when we left that no one talked to them on this visit. They are used to being chatted to in this store. They like the people that ask if they are finding things, if they have a bear already etc. The point is that the visit by normal standards was probably fine, but we are used to more from this location. Bring back that feeling of a child's dream come true store. Where they are the customer and I am not just the pocketbook. Greet us. Speak to all of us not just the money. Interact with us as a group if need be. Don't cluster together and pay attention to the only child making a bear. They may have just lost 2 of the major reasons I ever even entered their location. This is the better build a bear shop in the bay. I think it's a little more recent than the other shops in the bay because the computers and machine used to scan, name, and add personalities in the bears are pretty awesome. My bf and I came here to build a bear for our first time for his niece's birthday. Although I'm 23, I seriously had fun choosing the bear, stuffing it, naming it, dressing it up, etc. The price of the bear itself is pretty cheap ($10 or more) if you stick to a basic one (still cute and soft!), the only pricey side of the store are the clothes. There are so many variety of clothes and accessories! You can also choose to add a scent and/or sound in your bear. The more pricey bears are the flashy colorful bigger stuffed animals. Depending on the season, they'll have seasonal animals. For ex, we bought a cute bunny when it was near Easter. Anyways, the service was great. The lady who helped stuff the bear was very nice and tried to talk with the kids. She took her time in making sure every kid got the same quality experience, she wasn't rushing! We went today with 3 kids. My daughter even brought her oldest favorite stuffed animal (not even a build-a-bear product). The old stuffy was flat and his stuffing was compacted. Not only did the staff help us out but Conner refilled her old stuffed animal free of charge. The staff here was awesome and made the whole experience lots of fun for the kids. So we have yet to buy a "bear" here - but I guarantee you we will! For some reason, for the longest time my son and I just walked past this store. However, a few weeks back we went in and found several things to do/play with despite not having a bear. Since then we have been in each time we visit the mall. My son (2 1/2 years old) loves to play with the ducks and soap bars inside the "bath tub". I saw my husband eyeing the sports jerseys (and wondering why there is a Lakers jersey but no Warriors jersey?). Short Story: You feel like a kid again at this place! Long Story: So, Build-A-Bear has been closing and consolidating shops for a few years now. Their SF store, Newark, and I believe San Jose store closed. Now, they are in Pleasanton. They have a nice variety and selection of bears and other animals to choose from. They are all moderately priced with many accessories. You can buy clothes, hearts, and recorded voices so that the bear speaks. You can even get a birth certificate for the bear. I came here to get a bear for a friend and walked out a happy customer. I mean...who can say no to a teddy bear?! :) Verdict: I'll go back when I need to get someone a teddy bear or other stuffed animal. read more

My kids walked in here and I knew it was going to be trouble.... the staff was very friendly and my daughter ended with her own "My Little Pony". My daughter had a wonderful experience, from start to finish. The stuffing lady was very friendly. Even though the prices are a bit expensive (a skirt for My Little Pony cost $7.00) I was okay with this as my daughter had a wonderful time here. The cashier was equally friendly and offered to pull the tags and help my daughter put the outfit on even though there were other people in line. read more
