We start with Cabinet needs for fast delivery that can only happen with local company then, we went on to the Painting, all other Repairs, Stucco, siding of the wall (exterior), Windows and its frames. Very poor communication from the main office. We never knew when the crew would arrive and they never finished the job. The first crew also damaged our brand new air conditioner. This was my first venture into any type of rehab project on my family home. The folks at Builder Boy were kind enough to help me navigate thru want was new territory for me. Michele, Jeremy and Beril were all very helpful and patient with me. Make sure you do some research on all the little things that you want and convey that to your project manager. Communication is key in order to have the right mindframe and expectations. Make sure you visit the project site enough to make sure you are aware of the progress. We were looking to reface our kitchen and bathroom cabinets. Given how expensive cabinet refacing is, we were really bracing ourselves for a high estimate. Nathalie came by and gave us an estimate within a few days. Her estimate was comprehensive, professional and competitive. Given the reviews, Builder Boy's reasonable estimate and our interactions with Nathalie, we decided to take the plunge. We are very happy that we did. Nathalie and everyone we dealt with at Builder Boy were (1) very professional; (2) extremely competent; (3) fair and honest. Ronald did A LOT of the work and he was one of the most amazing carpenter we have ever dealt with. He has a great attitude -- continually willing to work hard to make you happy. He is a man of his word, on time and very professional. Emilio the stain master was also a delight. He had a great attitude and was able to give us the exact look we were going for. We are very happy with the end product. Our kitchen and bathrooms look amazing. So happy to have found Nathalie and her team. We hired Builder Boy in December 2014 to install three bath fans and do a complete paint of our condo. We had a terrible experience with this company. 1. The work was behind schedule, requiring us to reschedule our kitchen and carpet install. The communication between the designer we worked with and the site project manager was terrible. The site manager seemed unaware of the timetable and paint choices we had agreed to with the designer. The designer knew about our deadline and never even contacted us to let us know the condo wasn't ready for the installs. We only found out when we arrived on site. We had to send our kitchen installer away because the walls had just been patched and were still wet (the paint was supposed to be finished two days prior). Decent communication would have helped. The other contractors worked with us and the work was eventually done, but this required missing another 2-1/2 days of work. Worse, the designer blamed us for working with more than one company instead of taking responsibility for her company's mistake (when earlier she had admitted the crew started the job late and we were not informed). 2. They used the wrong paint. We paid extra for zero VOC paint due to our daughter's asthma. When we visited the condo we found that much painting had already happened with the cheaper, higher VOC paint. 3. The crew left paint globs in all of our bathroom sinks and generally did not do a good job cleaning up the site. 4. We received complaints from the condo board about the dirty condition the crew left the common areas, including paint globs on the carpet. 5. The new bathroom fans clear moisture in only the smallest of the three bathrooms. Debris is continuing to fall from one of the fans. 6. We asked to be put in contact with the owner several times and never got his contact info or received a call from him. In sum, I do not recommend this company. We hired and signed a contract with Builder Boy. It turns out they do work under several names -- check the reviews for Paint Boy before hiring Builder Boy. They are very consistent with our experience. read more

They did the painting of a patio cover and the construction, install and finishing of some cabinets for an outdoor kitchen. I found everyone to be great to work with. I had a bad experience with this company. I called to get a quote. One of their leads came to give me a quote. After I asked technical questions regarding fire rating of the materials used, the lead would be non-responsive. Eventually, he gave me a vague response. Also, I asked about the permitting process, and again the lead was very vague. I called back the office to request to work with a different estimator. They scheduled another estimator to give me a quote, but that person did not come. I no longer wish to work with this company. I wish the company owner would read my review of his company, and the bad customer service I experienced. read more

Builder Boy (BB) painted all the exterior wood surfaces of my home in Long Beach. Additionally, they removed and painted my interior shutters, door and front door. The crew sanded, patched, and replaced wood as needed. At the end of each day, they cleaned up and neatly stored materials. All staff communicated regularly and were always pleasant and accommodating. The work was done in a timely manner as estimated. BB previously did stucco work for me so I tried them again. I am very pleased with the work Builder Boy did on my new kitchen and bathroom! My 4-star rating reflects my great satisfaction with the overall project. (FYI: 5-stars for me is perfection.) I was new to the remo world and didn't know what to expect. My inexperience about the level of involvement I had to have in the process, coupled with the unexpected cost of updating an older home (weather damage & electrical panels) led to some frustration on my part, but that's not the fault of BB. They were very patient with me and accommodating with several last minute requests for additions. Nathalie is great. She and an assistant spent the day with me going to Lowes and Home Depot to select tiles and hardware. Sarah, in the main office, is AMAZING! Always pleasant and helpful. When Lowes gave me the run-around she got on the phone and broke through the phone tree to get things straightened out. With that said, after construction ended there were some last minute plumbing problems that needed to be fixed. They were quick to send out a plumber but it took a couple times. There was also a delay with the shower tile installation that prevented me from moving back in the home for a few weeks. Called a week ago and spoke with the helpful Lizzie on the front desk - she had me send Kenny an email with photos of the small job (wall unit AC removal and patching of interior drywall/exterior stucco). I did so immediately and a week later (today) Lizzie called to make sure Kenny had followed up - he hadn't. Lizzie was very apologetic, but I let her know that we'd already moved on to someone else as a result - it's not her fault, and it is clear that Kenny has more business than he needs as he can ignore other potential work (which is fine). A courtesy "I received your email but am too busy on other jobs to assist" would have been nice - and would have left the door open to potential future work - not anymore! read more

Recently we had some work done at our home; new concrete floor in garage and new stucco in front to replace old wood sidings. In addition, we had old window replaced and drywall and paint work in the garage. We got the quotes from different contractors. Leo Yepez from Builder Boy also came out to give us free estimate and did good job of explaining to us in details about the scope of whole job. We had read a lot of good reviews for Builder Boy on Yelp. So we decided to go with them. Builder Boy has different sub companies (or divisions); like Hardscape Concepts, Stucco Boy, Paint Boy etc. managed by different people as I came to know later which makes little difficult to review the main co. Builder Boy, as a whole. So I have reviewed two sub cos. separately which split the whole job: 1) Hardscape Concepts, which handled all the garage work; new concrete floor, window replacement and drywall/paint. All this work was done and overseen by Leo and his crew. I must say, they did excellent job throughout and reasonably on time. The whole crew was very friendly and courteous answering any questions or concerns we had during and after the work. I am happy to give Hardscape Concepts five stars for their work. 2) Stucco Boy, which handled all the stucco and foam work was managed by somebody else. Initially I was under the impression that this work also would be done and overseen by Leo. But as per Leo, the management decided to give it to some sub-contractor. Unfortunately, I cannot say same thing about the work done by Stucco Boy. The job took longer than expected and quality of work was not satisfactory. There was some missed spot in the final stucco coat and had splotches in many places. The guy did not do good job of cleaning after the work was finished, leaving quite a bit of mess for us to clean. Also, unlike Leo, nobody from Stucco boy really made any effort to communicate with us during and after the work, whether we had any concerns about the work. In fact I brought up these problems with Leo and somehow he managed to get everything fixed. However, after fixing everything, the stucco does look great. I give Stucco Boy three stars for their work. Overall after averaging ratings for both the cos. Builder Boy gets four stars. read more

Couple of years ago we had adjustments to the living room. They did a great job so after checking around we decided to fix the patio, the roof and ceiling and reses lighting in the house. These guys did an excellent job! They removed the popcorn ceiling and replaced with nice texture also added molding to the living room and master bedroom. New spot lights to the ceiling made the house look great. Also added light in kitchen with under cabinet lighting. Now patio looks excellent and they also took care of the Sun room lights. The roof was in vary bad shape, termite and water damage, all look great now. We like to thanks Jeremey, Josh E, Joshua, Leo, Sarah and Natalie for giving interior/exterior decoration ideas as well as responding quickly to our questions. They left no questions unanswered. We are amazed with their care and professionalism. The job was completed as planned. We definitely recommend these guys they did a great job for us. Looking forward to work with them again. read more
