We were going to eat at Rosines, but they had a one and a half hour wait. Walked across the street, and found this excellent Chinese restaurant. The waiter was really good. Friendly and immediately assured me that the tofu soup was made with vegetable base. That was so important for me. And it was delicious. I also had the Jasmine tea and tofu soup which was excellent. Service was quick and food came piping hot. They have three sizes and that was good so I could order a personal size. My husband had the chef's special fish soup .. the quantity was enough to feed three comfortably. He also had the broccoli beef and loved both his dishes.

I was really disappointed with the Full Moon Kung Pao Chicken. The dish was loaded with whole dried chilies and whole Sichuan peppercorns, to the point that I was repeatedly chewing on them as if they were part of the protein. Sichuan peppercorns create a strong numbing effect and are typically infused into oil and strained out. Leaving them whole -- especially in delivery, where they soften and blend in -- made the dish unpleasant and impossible to eat. I picked out several tablespoons of chilies and peppercorns (photo attached), and there were even more removed earlier. This wasn't about spice tolerance; it was about execution. I would not order this again and wouldn't recommend it unless you specifically enjoy chewing whole peppercorns and dried chile pods.

One of the most authentic spots I've tried...chef's are both old school chefs from China...great service too...a true gem

Food was good. Fresh. Friendly. Great lunch prices compared to the other Chinese place in town. Could use an update inside.

Unfortunately, the chow mein was one of the worst I've had. It was mostly noodles with very little meat, and the meat that was included tasted old. I ended up throwing away at least half of it. Normally, I would have sent it back, but since it was a delivery order that wasn't practical. I had hoped to save some for leftovers, but the quality wasn't good enough to justify reheating. I also ordered two char siu baos, but after my experience with the rest of the meal, my expectations are pretty low. My biggest concern was the packaging. None of the food was sealed in any way. The chow mein container had popped open during transit and was handed to me already open. The other takeout container wasn't taped or sticker-sealed either, and the soup came in a plastic container with no seal at all. In my opinion, restaurants using delivery services should place tamper-evident stickers or tape on all containers. Food should not be arriving open or capable of popping open during delivery. The lack of sealing was concerning and did not inspire confidence. The soup was also only about half full, which made me wonder whether some had spilled during transit or if that was the intended portion size. Overall, the beef with broccoli was merely okay, the chow mein was very disappointing, and the packaging raised concerns. Based on this experience, I do not plan to order from or visit this restaurant again.

From the outside, it doesn't look like much, and inside it's tiny tiny. maybe 6 to 8 tables total. Honestly, it could use some updates or a bigger location, but don't let any of that fool you. The second you walk in, you get that old-school family restaurant feeling. The kind of place that's been around forever, where the same family is working every shift and knows half their customers by name. No room for a Togo box hidden storage, no trendy décor, just people focused on making great food and taking care of their customers. The owner was incredibly kind and even brought us a complimentary order of their veggie rolls to try. They were absolutely delicious and such a thoughtful touch that made us feel genuinely welcomed. And the food? Absolutely incredible. Every single thing we ordered was packed with flavor, fresh, and cooked perfectly. Not one dish disappointed. It's the kind of restaurant that reminds you why local family-owned spots are worth supporting. If you're looking for fancy, this isn't it. If you're looking for some of the best food around in the Monterey area, this place is a 10/10 and well worth the visit. Don't judge this place by its location or appearance, the food speaks for itself.

This is one of his favorite Thai restaurants and frequented this establishment probably when he was the mayor of Carmel. According to the owner, Clint's son stops by from time to time. The menu had many of the typical Thai dishes. I thought I'd try something different. I wanted to try more but with my shellfish allergy, I was limited. They all sounded delicious though with crab filling and shrimp. We ordered: THAI SPRING ROLLS - small bite-sized rolls filled with silver noodles. Cute and crispy. Not greasy is always a plus! SPINACH - a vegetable dish you can order with your choice of protein. We went with tofu. The dish had thin slices of fried tofu and big slices of mushroom. Well-balanced, well-season and not overcooked. You can enjoy each ingredient as they're meant to be. CURRY NOODLE - I wanted curry and also wanted a noodle dish. This combined both of what we were looking for. We ordered his with pork. This was soupier than what I imagined. I wish it were drier or a thicker broth, but it was still good. THAI NY STEAK - This was our favorite. The steak was cooked medium, sliced and served with a stir-fry of mixed veggies. The homemade Thai sauce is what makes this dish so special. It's tangy with a little spice. So good! Food came out fairly quickly. Service was wonderful. The owner was very sweet and personable. He made us feel like we were long time customers.
