Staying in town for our 9th anniversary and stumbled upon this gem. We definitely ordered more than we could eat but it was delicious and we took the rest back to our hotel. The staff were friendly and she even helped us cook our food at the table. We sat at a booth that did feel slightly private with high dividers. We enjoyed it very much. read more

Well-seasoned and definitely hit the spot! 9.5/10 The Dol Sot Bi Bim Bap was also great. The clay pot gave the rice that perfect crispy bottom, and the egg had a beautifully runny yolk. The assorted veggies were fresh and balanced the dish well. Only thing I'd wish for is a bit more meat. 8.8/10 All the banchan were delicious, with the potatoes being my favorite. I was cravingggg Korean food on a work trip in Marina and this was the only place open and I'm SO glad we came here because this was the most quaint, felt-like-home, and sweet restaurant in our entire trip. The folks who worked here were extra nice and gave us candy and a yakult before we left! The food here was really good, and I just can't emphasize enough how cozy this place felt on a rainy day. New Korea Restaurant is located in a tiny plaza with a parking lot next to a Korean market. I believe it's one of the only Korean restaurants in the area, & it feels family-owned/gives small business vibes which I love. We had decent service and were seated quickly. I got the tofu stew (sundubu jjigae) and for $18, the portion was generous. It costs an extra $1 for the egg, so I opted out. It also came with a side of white rice. The soup itself was filling and hearty, but it was a little too sweet for my liking. I've also never seen carrots in my stew but first time for everything! The ban chan also was absolutely delicioussssss and we asked for additional servings of the kimchi because it was so good!!!! Definitely did not taste like Costco kimchi, and much better than the usual at other Korean restaurants. Food was mediocre at best. We got the seafood pancake and gamjatang (pork bone soup). I would not recommend ordering these items. The soup was flavorless and thin, and it seemed like it missed the depth that you would get from stewing the soup longer. Meat quantity was also lacking. For the banchan, I enjoyed the broccoli. The kimchi was too salty and "new". Seafood pancake was overly "fishy" and the mussel flavor overpowered the other ingredients. The texture of the pancake was more reminiscent of something bready. Hotel recommended QQ noodle we went sadly was closed BUT we met a gentleman outside the restaurant his name is Jeff!! He asked what we were craving something kid friendly & just some good food he said follow me I know just the spot Korea food. & we did we followed him & ended up here just a sweet man seem super down to earth. We came during July 4 weekend and it was busy during during dinner time. 3 hardworking ajumma with beautiful glowing skin was working all the tables. They quickly got us seated. I can't tell you how grateful I was to find this Korean restaurant that had all my favorite Korean dishes. Even the Korean restaurant on caramel didn't have this many dishes. It def feels like someone's home cooking. Everything was well seasoned and delicious!! The barley tea was self serve which I liked but it had a weird taste...I guess they kept pouring hot tea into old tea. Craving for some Korean food I found this authentic spot in Marina, a hole in the wall. their menu was limited, but they had the essentials. There was decent amount of people for dinner on a Sunday. The service was OK. We did have to continuously. ask for service.when need it. we ordered the spicy beef soup ( Yugeajung) and the flavor was on point. Spicy level just right. However there was barely any beef in it, almost not existent. The price was expensive for the amount of food especially since it felt like a veggie soup. The side dishes lacked in flavor so that was really disappointing because I love side dishes at Korean places. Still for a local spot, the food flavors were still pretty good. read more

We visited this restaurant over the weekend while traveling with our family because we were craving Korean food, and the high ratings gave us hope. While the service was very friendly and the staff were kind, the food itself was disappointing. The banchan felt under-seasoned and lacked the depth and care you would expect from a Korean restaurant. I ordered the kimchi jjigae, but it was extremely bland -- I even had to ask for saeujeot to add flavor, and it still didn't taste right. My wife also stopped eating her yukgaejang after a few bites because it lacked flavor as well. My older son's ojingeo bokkeum was also not very good. The biggest disappointment was my younger son's donkatsu. It wasn't homemade at all -- it tasted like a frozen, store-bought cutlet simply fried and served, which was really unexpected for the price. Overall, we ended up leaving most of the food uneaten. For the quality we received, the prices felt far too high. It also seemed like the flavors were adjusted more for non-Korean customers, which may explain why the dishes lacked authenticity. Great service, but unfortunately the food quality did not match the reviews or the pricing. read more

We usually find the drive to San Jose to be totally worth it for Korean food, but the times, we just want to stay local and this is one of our go-to's. If you are a kimchi fan you won't be disappointed! Theirs is top-notch. We also love the Dol Sot Bi Bim Bap and all of the other fermented sides. Service requires a bit of patience compared to some other restaurants, so I would recommend getting takeout if you are in a hurry, especially when they have a larger group dining in; but the workers are very kind. The style makes you feel like you just went back to a couple of decades ago or maybe a small restaurant on the suburb in Korea (it's clean, so don't worry!) Service was good. No complaints. Not your average KBBQ but the food sure tastes like it. New Korea Restaurant is a small place hidden in Marina. If you're not paying attention, you'll miss it....I sure did! After walking in, the server sat me right away and asked me if I was ready to order. I had never been there and the menu takes an adjustment. The menu is written in Korean but has English descriptions along with pictures (which helped tremendously not being Korean). I ordered the Bibimbap and teriyaki chicken along with some dumplings. Saying that I love dumplings is an understatement. These were not my favorite because I'm not a huge fan of beef but they were cooked very well and the accompanying sauce was delicious. To start the meal, banchan (small dishes of pickled cucumber, broccoli, kimchi, etc) was brought to the table. My bibimbap was delicious and very light but could've used a little more meat. I'd definitely suggest to order some on the side. The teriyaki chicken came sizzling and was sauced perfectly. Definitely one of my favorites out of everything. New Korea isn't your typical elaborate KBBQ, more of a family owned hole in the wall. I'll definitely go back so I can try more things now that I've made a break through with my Korean menu reading skills! read more

Great Korean food! Love the kimchi pancakes-I always get it as an appetizer. It's huge with the perfect crunch and the dipping sauce is so good! The bancha is also nice-they have a nice variety. Also, they gave us refills! Had many different food items and the mackerel and soups are very good and tasty. I haven't ordered anything that I didn't like. Mind you it's a great place in a location that is a bit different. Feels like you're parking in someone's home. The prices are pretty high considering the locale but for me, it's worth it.
