The Bull Pen is near my family's lake house, and as I only get up there 1-2 times a year, I usually stop in here for breakfast before hitting up Gay's Hops & Schnapps. It's a throw-back kind of place, deer heads on the wood-paneled walls. Typical stick-to-your-ribs fare. I enjoy the small town atmosphere, though it's blatantly obvious who the locals are versus the city slicker weekenders!(I'd be the latter). But I've always had good service, though they can get slow on the weekends when a rush is on. My father and I waited about 45 minutes for a simple order which usually I wouldn't worry about, but he waited far too long to take his Parkinson's medicine as a result and could barely walk back to the car. Other than that, it's the kind of place that rents out spots on their paper placemats for local advertisements. Decent all around, nothing crazy. The kind of place you'd probably get a killer piece of pie, though I've never saved room.

It's a calm restaurant in the morning. The food took a very long time to come out, and there was an okay amount of food.

Really good breakfast, pancakes are large, bacon crisp and tasty. Eggs and potatoes are very good.

Delicious food! The best Reuben I've had in a while. Great fries. My husband loved his burger too. Fast service.

My teens especially love Cabin for their frappes, which are priced around $5 a drink but the regular size is huge (think Starbuck's Venti size)! They use Ghiradelli chocolate for their drinks and the better quality is noticed. I'm in love with the Twister Frappe which has both chocolate, white chocolate and caramel in it. Yes - sugar overload! But worth it! The menu has a good variety and they have a small lunch selection. You can get a sandwich and chips for around $7. They have a good assortment of baked goods as well. I've never had their cinnamon rolls, but they look amazing! The atmosphere lives up to it's theme of cowboys and cabin. There is a cozy fireplace with rockers and a couch that is great in the winter, right now it's decorated for Christmas and gives you all the good holiday feels.

I brought a protein shake with me because I wanted to add it to the coffee I was purchasing. I was told I was not allowed to have outside food or drinks. I understand that a business can have policies, but the way this was handled was yet another example of the unnecessarily rude attitude I have experienced there. I wasn't trying to sit there and consume something I bought somewhere else instead of purchasing anything. I was literally there to buy their coffee and customize it with something I already had. At some point, a business needs to realize that customer service matters. Policies can be enforced without treating customers like they're a nuisance for walking through the door. I've given this place multiple chances, and the consistently unpleasant interactions have completely outweighed whatever I like about their coffee. There are plenty of other coffee shops where I can spend my money and actually feel welcome. I won't be back.
