How they left our kitchen for months at a time

I am honestly baffled at the number of good reviews for Bull Run. Maybe they are usually better and we just got unlucky, but we had an awful experience with our kitchen remodel. Tracy, the salesman, was so nice and walked us through picking out tiles, counters, etc. He told us a lot of things, and later we realized he had lied to us. He told us that they only do one project at a time, and the crew would finish our project before moving on to the next (not true). He told us that there would always be someone on the crew who spoke English, but there was often no project manager on site and we would have to call to ask questions or have something clarified. He told us that we could buy decorative tiles to have incorporated into the backsplash, only for the crew to tell us that this wasn't possible. He told us not to waste our money on a hood vent, only for them to install one anyway despite us not having wanted one. I feel really stupid now for having been taken in by his whole sales pitch. It took four months for them to complete the project, and most of that time was days/weeks they weren't even at the house. Apparently even after measuring numerous times, they ordered the wrong cabinet and had to keep reordering it until it came (which took weeks). In the mean time, they left our kitchen an absolute mess. The crew never put up plastic sheets or made any attempt to keep the dust out of the rest of the house, and as a result, our first floor was COVERED in dust. It looked like a volcano had erupted. Our kids' playroom was effected the worst. We had to empty out our first floor and do a complete deep clean, and even then had to end up throwing out some of our son's toys. It was awful. I just cannot believe that anyone could be so unprofessional. When we raised concerns, we were brushed off. I think they vacuumed once. The crew used our bathroom (which is fine, I would never deny someone using the bathroom), but again, they made such a huge mess. I really did not enjoy cleaning up urine constantly and putting the seat down. They also used the fridge, and it was full of dust and drywall debris. If we could afford it, I would have a professional cleaner come in and clean all the dust and debris. The paint job was sloppy- they didn't use painters tape and got paint all over the trim. I mean, whatever. I can touch it up, but for $42k I thought they would be a bit more detail-oriented. We were left without socket covers and loose wiring for months (did I mention we have a baby and a toddler?). Overall, it was such a stressful and unprofessional experience. The kitchen looks ok now if you don't look at anything too closely. I would seriously discourage anyone from using this company.

I did a full kitchen remodel and went with Bull Run based of some research and reviews and I wish that I hadn't. The first day I showed up in the showroom to get some ideas, but I felt like i was being rushed to get things under contract. I had a feeling then that I should have just walked away, but after finding some pairings I liked, I just wanted to get it done. So I proceeded with the process after I was promised that I would have floor and cabinet samples when I would be picking out paint, granite and back splash. They promised 3-4 weeks to get started, but it ended up being 5-6 weeks. And then it got delayed further (likely because of CoVID-19???) after they set a date. Work started up and they were supposed to remove texturing from the walls. They only removed the visible parts though, which, fine whatever...the cabinets are covering up the rest so not a huge deal. Then the granite choosing day came and I showed up at the wearhouse and there were no samples so I was blindly matching granite to cabinets I haven't seen in over a month. Plus, I had to make the decision that day or everything would be delayed. And then even when I did make the decision, I was promised price X only to find out later they are charging me and extra ~$800. Moving on to backsplash....I had to go do my own research and buy materials myself on their timeline, and again, with no samples of granite, cabinets or hardwood. Next up was the paint. They rushed me to buy paint and had I to make a quick decision. So I did, but anyone that's ever painted a room knows that sometimes a color doesn't workout like you imagined, and this was definitely one of those cases. So I say, we need to fix this and they want to charge me an extra $700....neat. So you don't provide me with any samples or ideas, rush me to buy paint, then charge me when I'm not happy with the result? Now the process has been finished and I have 2 cabinets that don't open the whole way because they don't have clearance beside the stove and microwave. They open about 3/4 of the way and they tell me thats how its supposed to be. It definitely appears like there should have been a spacer of sorts there. But they said they won't fix it when I called them. They also left a 3-4" deep scratch in my stainless steel refrigerator and a surface scratch from top to bottom on my stainless steel dishwasher. The only thing they offered to cover it was an additional year on my warranty. This whole process was awful from start to finish for me. They weren't helpful throughout the process.

We are so very pleased with our bathroom remodel. Merhshad and his crew did a fabulous job with the marble work and overall the complete remodel. They are a prompt, courteous and professional crew. Even cleaning up behind themselves each evening after work. I appreciate the company not beginning the project until all the materials arrived to the house. That way our bathroom remained usable during the 4 month wait for cabinets etc. Cannot wait to get started on the kitchen. Pictures attached. Just beautiful I think you will agree.

    Master bathroom, stand alone bathtub.

Our bathrooms turned out beautiful! So worth the investment. Sam and Richard were our go to guys on our project. Any questions or concerns they took care of it. The attention to detail, and suggestion of taking out a small wall, makes our bathroom look bigger. We are very happy with the results.

Love, love, love my new kitchen. I have a small kitchen, but Hakan moved some appliances and pantry around and the space feels three times bigger. He listened to my concerns and my "vision" and brought it to fruition. The crew was very polite and accommodating. My only concern was I would have liked more communication on the work schedule. But, again, what they did with what Iasked for is amazing.

I asked what cabinet distributors they used and she couldn't give me a name, she said they use many. I then asked what the difference would be between getting a particular cabinet color (not knowing what my options were or what would be in stock without a company name), and she said custom vs semi custom are just words and that it's all pretty much custom so it wouldn't make a difference. Upon asking a few more questions, she proceeded to tell me "I'm not sure if you saw, but our company has almost a 5-star review and that's almost unheard of". I didn't know what to make of it, but considering what some of their reviews mentioned, I felt as though we were going to get the same treatment. She said she'd get back to me by Friday with a quote and a visual of the kitchen updates-- it was Tuesday that day. We gave her a call that Friday afternoon to follow up and she insisted that the cabinet company was taking a while and that she'd get back to us by Monday the latest if not over the weekend. We waited and got nothing so my husband called her the following Wednesday without ever hearing from her. She continued to reassure us that she hasn't forgotten about us and that she'd get back to us by Monday for sure. It's now been 21 days and we got no updates or any communication from them. It's clear that this is a pattern for them and I'd advise someone looking to get work done by someone reliable and honest to look elsewhere.

I went in Lowe's to pick up a robot vacuum I had ordered online. It was a Christmas gift to my aging mother. The weather that day was pouring down rain and windy. I was worried about the appearance of the gift if it got too wet so I asked her if they had a shopping bag to protect from the rain. She said the robovac won't fit a regular sales bag but maybe a trash bag she had. It was about the size of a kitchen trash bag but wouldn't fit. She knew the weather outside was bad and I had told her it was a gift to my mother. Alice then looked and found a large plastic leaf bag. It fit luckily, thanks Alice. Considering the recent excellent water heater installation, we decided to buy and have blinds installed by Lowe's. This time we had extreme frustration. We made several phone calls and the store manager responsible refused to call us back. We paid Manassas Lowe's over $1800 to measure and install blinds in our house. We had problems including not cutting the blinds, delivering the blinds to the wrong location, and leaving the blinds on my driveway. When the installer went to pick up the blinds, the Manassas store called me, they did not know about the order, and didn't even know their own phone number. She told me to call back on the phone number recorded on my cell phone. When I attempted, multiple times to call back, the answering system would not transfer me to customer service, or management. At least last time when I called Lowe's, the answering system sent me to a helpful person at a Midwest store, several hundreds of miles away. Fortunately, the installer called me on his phone, and was able to pick up the blinds. I requested a call back from the Manassas store manager from the assistant manager on duty. I wanted to report the problems. I called the Lowe's Installation team and was first sent to the Manassas store's floor team. When I called back, I was told it was the Manassas store's problem and they needed to fix the problem. I requested to talk to her manager, who understood my frustration, offered me a reasonable compensation (I believe based on some calculation) and said they would ask the Manassas store manager to call me. The store manager never called. I told the Lowe's installation manager, I wanted to post a review. She told me I could, until I read the waiver I must sign to receive compensation. There are words in the release that states "Releasor agrees to immediately cease communication with media, including social media, if any, and destroy any video and photographs taken regarding the construction project relating to the contract numbers listed above," I asked for clarity and even offered to send her what I would post. Her response was "Please understand that I am not an attorney or acting as an attorney for Lowe's." Even though Lowe's is willing to compensate me with hundreds of dollars, I believe it is important to make others aware of the frustration about purchasing and installing blinds by Lowe's. I did not sign the waiver. There are too many organizations with different people involved with the installation of the blinds. There is no one person to talk with and take responsibility to have a problem free installation. Not to mention the difficulties with using the answering system. I looked up about the release on the internet. The following https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0RZ-kX9BuU stated that Lowe's does not require people to sign the release. Try calling the Manassas store and see if you are more successful than I am to talk with customer service? On the positive side, the installer, KC, and the person cutting the blinds, Dave, did an excellent job. I hope my review is helpful.
