Whenever in Kauai, I have to stop off at Bull shed restaurant The staff provided great customer service and very knowledgeable We got the following items Half rack of lamb w/ loaded potato Chicken and shrimp w/ loaded potato

New York with loaded baked potato

Come hungry! The bone in prime rib is HUGE! See my picture. You really should share this with someone in ny opinion if you want to relax at night. LOL Baked potato was perfectly done with crispy skin. I ate the New York steak, was perfectly cooked, don't think it was aged, but good nonetheless. Not sure if it was Kauai beef or not. Service is good, live music was wonderful! A bit loud if you sit next to the music area, but really good. Old school feel, next to the ocean, very relaxing. We'll be back for sure!

Good dinner just wish they had AC it was pretty hot inside. Windows open and fans but it was still pretty hot. Ordered the Steak and Shrimp. Good was good. The banana caramel cheesecake was good for dessert. Also the ice cream pie was all good. Service was friendly.

Great place to eat ! Food was great Service was great very friendly from hostess to waitress I ordered the bone in prime rib and had it seared to medium and grilled veggies and salad with papaya dressing and shared it with my wife we both had plenty to eat will be back! Also we had a great ocean front table and enjoyed everything

The service was amazing. Not only did our waitress take care of us, so did the bus boy and staff. The food was great and the view was spectacular! Im going back before heading back to the mainland! It's a must Island experience !

Bull Shed was good. We really liked our server Terri (*) she was very knowledgeable and shared some fun facts about herself like what she grows and how she makes pickles and we really enjoyed her stopping by our table to chat. Considering we went on Valentines night with no reservation (you cannot make one with less than 6 people) our estimated wait time was an hour, we were pleasantly surprised to be seated and eating within that hour. We sat far from the live music which allowed us to enjoy the sound of the ocean and the restaurant was actually quite casual for what we expected as a "steak house" my husband enjoyed the catch of the day that was well priced and I LOVED my steak kabobs, but I loved more that I could upgrade to a baked potato. (Rice is great, however we've expectedly eaten so much rice here lol)

Service - 4.5 Ambiance - 4.0 Food - 4.0 - 4.5 Note that close for renovations 8/23/25 and will reopen around 12/25. Get there fast! Nice restaurant on the beach. Ocean can be rough in that part of Kauai so you can hear the waves crashing. Hostess, server, bus boy were all great. Their house-made bread is awesome. Bits of onion on top baked into the tender crust. Inside, the bread is fine textured, soft, and yummy. Loved it. Drinks were ok. Hubby and I both ordered their prime rib, no bone (you can also get with bone). It was a pretty big and thick cut and nicely seasoned on the out side. Meat could have been a little more tender but it was deliciously seasoned and good. Really tasty au jus, and also served with creamy horseradish. All in all a great meal worth the drive. This establishment has been here for years, hope they're here next time we come to Kauai because they are worth returning to. We arrived at 5:30 and were seated quickly. When Er left a little after 6:30 there was a30 minute wait. (No reservations unless you have a party of 6 or more.) someone was coming in with sound equipment so I guess the have live music, too. Happy hour is 4:30 - 5:30. I believe dinner service is from 5:30.

We tried this place again after many years. I ordered the same prime rib as last time. It was good but not as good as I remember. My wife ordered the ahi tuna which she was disappointed with. It was thin compared to all the other restaurants that serve ahi, and there are a lot of great ahi dishes on the island. Drinks tasted pretty weak. I do like the view sitting by the window but it doesn't make up for the fact that this place feels dated. The service was ok but not great. Probably will pass next visit.

A friend recommends this place. We weren't sure what to expect from the front look of it. Don't judge a book by its cover. (Plus, my dear friend surely would not steer us the wrong way.) we walked in to a stunning view of the ocean! The food was delicious. We shared a Bull Shed prime rib. I asked for it medium and it came rare. Our server offered to take it back to place it back on the grill briefly. I wasn't a fan of the bread (huge sourdough fan). The service was impeccable. She was sweet and talked about the marine life that have been around lately. We got there at happy hour and were given a window seat right next to the water. It's about bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside. The windows were open. We were able to hear the waves. We were close enough that if the waves were any bigger, we surely would have gotten wet (more than a splash).

Okay first off, Aunty at the bar is a beast!! She be working 30+ years at that restaurant as a server and bartender and she just get um!! She know how for take care!! Now the place is in a hotel, but it's cute. Not so fancy but it's Kaua'i, so deal with it haha but the food tho...winnah!! I got the boneless prime rib, ranch style with the ends cooked perfectly to medium rare with rice. Reason why it's 4 stars and not 5 is because you have to pay for a veggie side (salad) because it does not come with one. My friends said the Steak tips Kabob was good and the chicken was good too.

We decided to celebrate our 5 year anniversary yesterday here at Hukilau Lanai. We are both extremely big foodies and had high expectations based on the reviews (and price). We specifically came here for the fish dishes that use local fish. I never had the chance to eat here before so this review is solely based on my experience yesterday. Poke nachos ($23): 7/10, solid nothing special Soup of the day, Fisherman's Jalapeño corn chowder ($5): 6.5/10, also decently solid but nothing special. The little kick of spice was nice. Hukilau mixed grill ($49): 7/10, the sauce was delicious and trying the various fish was fun. Fish were cooked well and not too dry. The one on the far right was my favorite. Nairabi ($48): 6/10, the crust was excellent but I did not like the pumpkin curry sauce. The marlin actually tasted better when I mixed it with the sauce of the mixed grill. Mashed potatoes were decent. Marlin was a tad bit dry but not sure if that's how it's supposed to be. Coconut cheesecake ($14.5): 9/10, I LOVE COCONUT! Delicious dessert, portion was a lil small tho Lava cake ($18): 3/10, very okayy I personally did not like it especially the outside chocolate cake part tasted off We were seated in a spot on the lanai to the side which was beautiful and peaceful. The service was great, we were constantly being checked up on which was nice. Our server was welcoming and kind. I liked that they give a vase of water so you can pour yourself since we drink a lot of water. Would we come again? No. Although service was great and the fish was decent it was still quite lackluster taste wise especially when compared to the price point. There was a lot of flavors going on with the dishes that felt distracting to me that didn't truly bring out the taste of the fish. Sauce is the most important part of fish dishes. I also don't know if it might've been the food but my partner had a stomach ache afterwards. We also gave our fish leftovers to my brother and it hurt his stomach too lol I was fine though so not sure from what.
