We came here on a Friday night, they originally quoted us about 30 minute wait, but it only ended up being about five. The atmosphere is really nice, it's a really cool sports bar kind of vibe. They have different specials every day, I had the all you can eat fish and fries which was $13 with the purchase of a beverage. The fish was outstanding. I'm not even a big fish person, but it was excellent and the onion rings were also beer battered and delicious. I really liked the tartar sauce it kind of tasted a little bit like dill pickle or something. My only complaint is my waitress did not ask me if I wanted any more fish, but she was asking other tables. My fiancé had the country fried burger and he loved it. This marks the third time I can recall that was the case. At 430pm it was available. At 445pm it was not. When we arrived we were told there was a 10-15 minute wait for 4 people, and the text link they sent us for the wait was a Waitlist connection showing us first in line. The wait was 10 minutes and we did not get checked-in by the staff on Yelp Waitlist. The step-up area for video gaming right when you walk in seems to taint a first impression of the restaurant. It used to be toward the back only. I realize to a business these areas add income; I hope it offsets a visual minus to the person coming for food/drinks. The food quality was average. Chicken tenders were below average, wrong sauce brought. French dip was good, fish was average and the signature burger was good. Fries were average. Also they mixed two types of fries together which seemed odd. The Friday house and domestic beer special of 23oz for $4 came as 16oz but was made right by the waitress on the bill. That was appreciated. The staff was overwhelmed with the number of tables to cover. The waitress did her best. Food came relatively quickly but seemed slightly delayed compared to other visits The bill arrived long after we were done and that was on the facility overwhelming the servers with too many tables to cover. Overall: We like this place. But with lots of local pub food competition, I'm not sure they are my go-to as in the past. Have a house beer and some of their appetizers (not the chicken apps) and I think you'll enjoy the experience more than the full dinner. read more

Glad this place closed down. Management...no where to be found. Other than one or two servers, there is no sense of camaraderie at all between the team. It is literally every man for themselves. I have served prior for 7 years and loved it. This place, not so much. The majority of servers do not have a sense of urgency when it comes to greeting tables, refilling drinks, or checking in on them. Bonus point: their main (and only) ice well stopped draining and instead of routing servers to other cleaner options, the managers just kept saying they'll fix it and never did. Imagine the nasty and stagnant water mid shift during rush hour. Speaking of wells, why did you guys only have one? Waiting on a server who is filling up 12 glasses of coke actually takes more time than you think. Not very productive. Not from Illinois and I came here from a glowing recommendation while visiting a friend. The place is very pretty. My purple bulldog drink was tasty, but overpriced. I was really excited about my food because the first few pieces of my caesar salad that I ate from the top were very good. The crispy chicken was perfect. Unfortunately, the more that I ate it, the more I found pieces of spoiled lettuce. It was actually ironic because I told my friend minutes before about how fresh the lettuce seemed. My theory is that they were at the end of an old lettuce bag, then threw some fresh, new on top. Upon looking through the reviews, I can see poor food quality and control is something they consistently have problems with. This is a difficult review to write. First, service was great. No complaints there. Food: We ordered the Brussels sprouts appetizer. And although they were cooked perfectly, they were absolutely drowning in a sickeningly sweet sauce...completely ruined them. We both ordered different burgers ...both medium- rare though. They both came out well- done. They recooked them with no problem, and they were very good. They did give us a discount for the issue. So we will return. Very disappointed. Took my wife here for her Birthday. Ordered the Margarita Pizza, not a traditional Margarita Pizza. Red sauce sliced tomatoes and regular shredded mozzarella not Buffalo mozzarella. Basil was shredded not whole leaf and no sign of any garlic. Got the Carnitas tacos myself and they were bland. My husband and I reluctantly went back to Bulldogs tonight for dinner. I say reluctantly because the last 3 times we have either had bad food, horrible service or both. It seems like they are just struggling ever since Covid hit. Tonight we ordered what we thought was pretty simple, he had the French dip with a side salad and I ordered the House chicken Club salad with Cream of Chicken soup. It took an hour to get our food and when we did finally get it my salad was wrong and my husband didn't get his salad. The waitress did bring his salad out after asking. My salad, which is described in the attached picture, came to the table with just lettuce and chicken. No cheese, no bacon, no tomato, no egg and no honey mustard. Once I brought this to the attention of our waitress she did take my salad back, added the cheese, bacon, tomato and honey mustard, still no eggs though. It took us 90 minutes to order, eat and pay for such a simple meal. Unfortunately this neighborhood chain restaurant can no longer be considered a reliable place to meet and eat. 4 strikes and your out, we will not be going back. read more

Just a solid dish, nothing to write home about, just a good meal. The coleslaw was less than stellar but I kinda already dislike coleslaw. It had this odd pink hue to it, but other than that I recommend the fish and chips. Chicken and waffles: -Chicken and waffles: 3/5 Now this was an interesting one. My brother got this one. The most intriguing aspect to this dish is the hot sauce/ maple syrup combo drizzled over everything. This sauce was exactly what the dish needed to not be mediocre. Hell I added a point just for this sauce. The waffles are decent, but it was the chicken that was lackluster. It was a bit stringy, and nothing like the Buffalo wings. I don't really recommend these myself, but my brother seemed to enjoy the dish. Buffalo hot wings with ranch: -Buffalo wings: 5/5 -Ranch:100,000/5 Okay it may not be fair to rate a pre bought ranch so high but wow is this ranch banging (we asked for the brand, it's Ken's ranch). But moving onto the chicken. When we went, my sister got these at a dollar a piece, a great price! It was also a great flavor. Not really spicy, but the chicken was meaty, and the Buffalo sauce used was buttery and had a nice taste. Highly recommend. They only had one physical menu, no problem, but then QR code on table doesn't work. Some draft beers were completely out, a few appetizers were not available - same for some dinner items. Ordered drinks and one came back wrong, the other had soapy film in glass. I havent come to this establishment in almost 3 years and now I remember why. To begin the service was almost non-existent, the waitress would walk past only to see if we were finished with our food and to refill drinks which came with a side of attitude. If the place was busy I would understand the lack of service but the restaurant was below 25% capacity. I ordered the pulled nachos, the Italian beef egg rolls, mozzarella sticks, the el camino burger and the baja burger. The burgers were ordered medium and medium well they both came well done. The buns were soggy and fell apart. There were bones in my nachos and the cheese seemed like it was sitting there for a while. The italian beef eggrolls had no flavor and the only good part of this meal was the marinara sauce that came with the mozzarella sticks. White castle is better than this place. read more

Today I went for lunch- only provided code to go to online menu (total understandable w/ Covid ) but have been given a paper menu previously during Covid. Prices are not listed online. That's not a good business practice. Seemed extremely expensive for what we ate, but can't confirm because no menu with price to confirm. Service also has gone down in the past months. For future patrons - maybe give pricing. I think this was the most I've ever paid in the years I've gone and wasn't worth it. read more

A little bit of an overdue review. My husband and I have been to this location a couple different times. I've also been to some of the other locations. We were in the area and decided to grab some dinner. Due to how busy it was we had to wait 45 minutes to get seated. This wasn't unusual though because of the covid capacity limits. Once seated we put in our drink orders. The drinks came out and were satisfactory. I'm a wing guy and remembered the wings being quite good here from the last visit. Therefore I went with the buffalo wings with the hottest sauce offered. My husband went with a lemon chicken type deal. The food itself took a little longer than usual but never the less came out at an appropriate time. I was honestly happy with my meal. The wings satisfied me and they had a decent flavor. I was expecting a little more heat but maybe my taste buds have gotten used to the torture I've put them through over the years. My hubby however had an issue with his dish. The first issue was that it was cold. When he told me this I thought he was kidding. I grabbed my fork and dug into the mashed potatoes and they were cold. Furthermore the chicken was also cold and flavorless. We decided not to say anything cause most of the other aspects of the visit were positive. We have been back twice since my first review - each time you were out some basic apps we ordered , then then basic Pino Grigio we ordered. So there are a few things to advise here.... First, it's an Ale house. That being said, their selection of beers have drastically narrowed from a dynamic and robust gambit of high quality craft beers to now a mediocre selection of average beers. They also have increased the number of domestic majors vs craft beers. I miss the days that this place always had AT LEAST one banger craft beer on tap. They always had one rare beer (BA stout) on draft. Now the food: Gag me. The food has substantially dropped in quality since we first started going there 7 years ago. For the price tag, it's just not worth it. Loved their large tap list and craft approach before... but quality has just decayed. Such a phenomenal first experience here! Grabbed dinner with the fam after visiting our new puppy. We literally picked this place based on its proximity because we were so hungry! Not only we're we seated so quickly, but the service just went up from there. Ciara, our server, was so personal, talking with the kids and giving her recommendations. The food as excellent...from pretzel appetizers to tacos and sandwiches. My daughter got the buffalo chicken wrap, and Ciara said it wasn't spicy, but when kiddo got it, it was just too spicy for her. When we wanted to order a second meal, she just replaced the original wrap with one with a much milder sauce! She and the manager we soooo accommodating to our needs. Absolute worst restaurant/service I've been to in my entire life! Walk in, every time, place is dead, and service from host/hostess to bar back act like it's Saturday night in downtown Chicago. Bulldog Alehouse is a great Bar/Grill place. It is upbeat, with friendly, attentive staff. There is a great selection of beer, and the daily specials are awesome. The burgers are usually good. There are $1 1/2 pound burgers on Mondays, and there are $6.99 build your own burgers on Saturdays. Plus, there are daily drink specials. The service is usually good. The food is usually good. My family and I went to dinner there last Saturday and was very disappointed. We were seated about 5:30 in the bar area, it wasn't very crowded. After waiting for some time our waitress came over and was rude as I've ever experienced. We started to order drinks and after a couple of us got them ordered the waitress said "I'll be back" and walked away. About 10 minutes later she can back with the first couple drinks and began to recite a list of all the foods they didn't have: No Pretzels No cheese sticks No chicken pot pie No fish fry So on and so on Finally we ordered the rest of drinks and got to order our food. From there it got better, not sure what happened but she got a bit nicer and the food we did have was good. I got to say it was ok but if we hadn't been there before and didn't know the place I'd never go back.
