Walked in this past Monday night. It was dark inside (dim lighting, no natural light) and there was no staff to be found. We noticed several people at the bar and two couples sitting at the table tops. I didn't see any food on tables and the people at the bar had 1/2 filled and/or empty drink glasses. We stood in the doorway for 3 minutes and never saw any staff. One of the customers said the bartender disappeared. Needless to say we left and went to a business across the street. read more

We have been to Holsteins many times. I'm not really sure what's going on but almost all of the help is different and they are not very attentive. We had to wave someone over to get another drink and there was a couple next to us at the bar also complaining about the service. I tip on service, I think they should pick up their game,my review is solely based on the service. read more

A party of 6 of us were there today.(8-14) Sad to say we won't be back. We waited 2 hours to get our pizza and only after someone from our party went into the kitchen and asked if they even got our order. 7 pizzas went by us to people that came in after us. And then the topper, we were over charged on the beers ordered. 8 instead of 3. The nacho chips were stale and when ordered asked for beef on them. None on the nachos. And the waitress had the nerve to ask us if we got our pizza yet? Yet she was our waitress. read more

JW Holstein Saloon apparently allows their bartenders to not give receipts when people close out and let random people put drinks on another's tab! My tab was run up over $100 by somebody that was not me on Saturday, the owner accused me of "being drunk and forgot because there's no way i was there (x) hours and only had 2 drinks", and the owner kept accusing me as if this was MY problem...apparently i cannot go to a bar and NOT get black out drunk...?? absolutely insane. Was told i closed out at 2am, was not there at 2am; and somebody (not me!!) FORGED my signature!! I left the establishment at MIDNIGHT because i had work the next day. been a reoccurring customer there with friends for birthdays, weekends etc! unprofessional. Mistakes happen yes but when no effort is used for being resolved and accusing a customer is insane. read more

JW Holstein's wins for best south side wings!!!! Generous pours of Guinness to wash them down with and ample food and drink specials every day of the week, make this Tinley Park monument a bar aficionado's dream come true! Spacious, clean, and well staffed, they even have an outdoor seating section. If I had but one recommendation to give -- you guys have ALL that space -- maybe consider fitting a pool table or two in? Cute little find in Tinley Park. We visited the area for a concert and decided to give this place a shot because of their advertised $7 pitchers. We shared some wings, which were quite good, and I got a turkey burger with Cajun fries. The burger was juicy and seasoned very well! Fries were good, too. My husband got the steak sandwich special, which he thought was the same one on the menu with onions and mushrooms, but it came plain. He was ok with it, and said it was a really good sandwich. We really enjoyed this place and wouldn't mind visiting again! read more

We love free pizza Fridays, and the burger happy hour day too. Atmosphere is for the younger crowd but it's still a great place to go when your your 30s. service is good and quick and can you really be free pizza Fridays? Note you have to order at least two drinks to get the pizza. read more

I've been going to Holsteins on Thirsty Thursdays and to also watch various sporting events for a number of years. In general, for a bar the food is fairly decent. Good pizza on free Pizza Fridays and also their wings and also their Taco Trios are very good. I mostly always sit at bar. Madison is normally the bartender. She does a fantastic job along with having a delightful personality. read more

Prices are right and service is good. A fun place in Tinley by the tracks. The Food is good and the is cold. Good interior space and nice beer garden. Spent a fair amount of time at Holstein's as a group of friends are regulars at Wednesday night trivia there so I have gotten to recognize many of the servers and for the most part they are all pretty great. Servers are usually pretty on top of things, we've had a couple who seemed to disappear and not be around to get us things we were needing etc but that is pretty normal for any place you eat at from time to time. We almost always get an adult beverage and they have yet to disappoint with those. The food is good & I love their curly fries. Photo attached is of the last time I tried a new drink there. Summary: Not at all Covid-safe. I gave it 3 stars because we didn't make it far enough to order anything or receive any service. Saturday night and as soon as you walk in the door you're greeted with "$5" - super friendly. Fumbling to find our cash, I didn't notice until AFTER we paid that this place is NOT SAFE. Packed. No social distancing. Zero masks (staff and customers). No spaced seating. I understand people don't care (obviously), but I do and I know other people still care as well. read more

I've been to this place twice in the past month and I've seen ZERO Covid protections in place. No one on staff wears a mask, seats are close together and there is no crowd control. Walk in, sit down ask for whatever pizza you like... no "Must order 3 bottles of Dom with every pizza" nope! It's free like it says, all I paid for were my 2 bottles of 'In Heat Wheat' and took the rest home. BTW - try the 'In Heat Wheat' purdy darn tootin' Servers are on the level, I haven't had to wait more than say... 2 or 3 minutes before I got a menu and a cold beverage. Refills come quick and they also don't automatically assume you'll be sticking to the same beer, good for me... I like to mix it up. Spacious is the easiest way to describe the inside. It doesn't really look it from the front, but there's a lot of room in there. Plenty of tables and a large island (peninsula really) bar with at least 20 chairs around it. Those chairs... well spaced. The outside is HUGE. There's a covered and semi-enclosed covered and heated area with a second bar. Keep going past the hangy plastic things and you end up on the fenced back patio, plenty of seating out there too. Looks like it's be a blast on those hot summer nights. All in alls... One of the better bars on Oak Park Ave in Tinley. Pretty good food, really good drink specials... Beer garden in the back has some great ambiance, HOWEVA...the chairs are a problem. These chairs are basically wrought iron style Adirondack chairs. I know, who doesn't love some adirondack chairs, you say? They're great if I'm sitting at fire pit or situated on a beach staring off into the ocean, gazing at the stars. But these ones lean back at more of an angle than your standard style Adirondack chairs. So when I'm at a beer garden sitting at a round table amongst friends, I'm leant back at a 45-degree angle staring up and it's really not an ideal situation. If management is reading this, it MUST be addressed Overall though, like I said, the place is definitely in my Oak Park Ave top-5. The waitresses are really nice. Whoever does the hiring definitely has a thing for blondes. All of them are hard 7s or above. Oh and they have one of those punching bag machines and that's a lot of fun. There were a couple bros up there punching away at it. I walked up, threw some bills in there and registered five punches in a row all 950+ psi, new record for the bar. Not a big deal. When you break the record you win a thong lol! My wife is definitely too fat for it so I gave it to my daughter. Great night! read more

I've been curious to try the food at this location. I tried the burger and was disappointed! Although it looked great and the first few bites were great... there was this weird odor and taste on the end... that was coming from the burger. I read the discerption and it stated the meat was marinated in a secret sauce. Idk maybe there should be an option to have marinated meat and none marinated. read more

Cool bar on Oak Park Ave. to grab drinks and eat all the free pizza you like as long as you're ordering drinks. The pizza is offered with one free topping and it comes out quick and hot. The waitress is very nice she very patient with our group and didn't get the drinks orders wrong. The music isn't so bad either. They have .50 wings on Mondays & Wednesday's, and they are the jumbo wings. The burgers are good also. Nachos are excellent. I would have a party here or just come and hang out. The drinks are watered down though. Good hangout spot for lunch or drinks. read more

Second time coming here, definitely alot better than my first time here. I've never been to a bar that has felt so "alive" and "lively", people here are decent for the most part. Servers and waitresses are really nice and down to earth. I definitely love the live band that perms as they play actual music to my interests and plenty of throwbacks. They even got gambling machines. If you're claustrophobic, I definitely warn yourself coming here on the weekends. Parking is a huge hassle. read more

If you're 21-26ish, back home from college, or just looking for more of a social bar, this is the place to be on a weekend in the Orland/Tinley/nearby area. I've been here a handful of times and it does remind me of some of the bars down at UIUC, which is a relief coming back home to the often boring suburbs. Typically a $5 cover charge after a certain time on weekends, but I think it's worth it. The place draws a pretty good (and young) crowd on any given night where there's live music/entertainment. It does get kind of loud, at least in the main bar area. It can get pretty crowded, too. I find that the best nights actually aren't when it's super packed but when there's a little room to breathe. We went on a Friday when it was a little cold outside and the crowd inside was thinner, but nice. The inside is pretty sweet. Saloon themed with lots of signs and nice wood furniture. The outside is cool too, in the warmer months it's opened up with tables and bags. In the winter it turns more into a smoking area but there is still a bar out there. Cool! They do have some pretty good drink and food specials. I've never gotten food but a friend has said the burgers and chicken wings are tasty. There is a good selection of draft beers as well as mixed drinks. I think they make a particularly good Vegas bomb. Pricing is pretty average. If you're not drinking the specials I'd say it's standard for the area. The bartenders are typically pretty nice. Sometimes a little slow on busy nights but that is to be expected and I've never had any serious issues. Solid place, I'm a fan! read more

The best bloody Mary's AND free pizza on Fridays. The pizza is so good. Reminds me of the pizza on the south side which is hard to find in Tinley. My husband and I love coming here. They have the best chicken quesadillas and seasoned fries. It has a younger crowd at night and live music. I noticed the people over 25 go earlier in the day and the barely legal people come later. The juke box plays at a deafening level so we like to sit at the other bar inside the establishment which is super nice and remodeled. It's a good place to watch football on Sunday's. The beer garden has a ton of seating, outdoor bar, tvs and darts. Friendly bartenders. Large craft beer selection. Check out the website for the daily food specials, they have a ton. read more

I feel kind of bad knocking down Holstein's with a two-star. But then again, no I don't. Some people consider the loud live music a plus. I consider it a minus because in my experience the music sucks and I would rather hear someone drowning amplified to 150 dB. There may be young people there, but I guess I'm spoiled by city bars because I'm turned off by the median age of 35 at Holstein's. You have to admit, there are a good number of creepy old guys here. And last but not least, I would have better luck getting a drink here if I left the bar, went to the nearest Home Depot, purchased a Sawzall, returned to the bar, sawed my way through the actual bar, and poured myself a beer. (I could have made that rant much longer but I chose to have mercy.) Also, there are good odds no one would notice because half the time the bartenders aren't even behind the bar. The point is, it takes forever to get a drink when it's not even crowded. I'm going with two stars instead of one because it's not totally devoid of good features. For instance, it's very close to other bars you can patronize when you leave Holstein's. read more

Was in town for the first time in 10+ years and decided to take a trip down Oak Park Ave. Memory lane. Stopped in close to closing time and noticed things had changed a bit. Still super loud music(but I wont deduct stars because I'm an old man now), but a much smaller crowd. Molly the bartender greeted me cheerfully and was more than happy to answer my questions about the area. At last call everyone was closing out their tabs and she handled the bar like a champ. We were quite impressed with J W Holstein's Saloon. Despite some negative reviews we went there to see a band my wife and I have been following. I don't get the peoples complaints. The place was beautiful inside and very clean. We ordered the steak nachos and they were very good. I was happy to see such a great craft beer list (most of them on tap). A lot of the other customers were pretty young but for the most part they seemed friendly and fun to be around. It was a nice crowd. The only disappointment was that the kitchen closed at 10 pm so we didn't get to order food while the band played. We definitely will be coming back for more good times. read more

Went after the Tinley Irish Parade. Dj and servers were fantastic. However, some security (insert guy with long beard) watched as girls who were apparently friends of his repeatedly started altercations. Anyone explaining what was happening was shoved or told to go away. Bystanders were ignored as ignorant young ladies were obnoxious and rude and starting fights. They then stayed as those who were assaulted were forced to leave. If you are an adult, I would stay far away. read more
