I'm not a drinker so there's that...however, I'm glad I tagged along because the place is pretty cool even if you don't partake in the "spirits". The atmosphere is beautiful. I was really impressed. The bartender where he got the tasting was so nice and patient with us. I did order a mocktail which was SO good! I did have a little sip which wasn't horrible. We took the tour of the distillery and had a tasting and both were fantastic!!! First, the grounds and setting are beautiful and immaculate. The welcome center is upscale in a bourbon kind of way. Stacked barrels, art and subdued lighting. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Our tour included a bus ride to the distillery and in-depth discussion about fermentation and distillation. We learned about the high rye factors that make Bulleit bourbons unique. Our tour guide and was knowledgeable, interesting and threw in a joke or two. The tasting was fun and educational. We learned how different components change the taste and smell of the bourbons. The recipes were developed years ago by the Tom Bulleit's great grandfather. The entire tour is fully wheelchair assessable including the bus. There is plenty of parking in the private lot (but no shaded spaces). Dogs are not permitted in the center. We had a large group and we needed to cancel two of the reservations and we were able to call and cancel with no issues. The tours with tasting are $15 (which was a bargain). The gift shop offers all the blends of Bulleit Bourbon and Rye in all sizes. Bourbon shirts and other fun accessories and mixers are also available. I highly recommend the tour and visit. read more

Our Valentine experience at Bulleit Distilling Company was absolutely unforgettable. The visitor center is located in the sticks but don't let that discourage you. Plenty of parking and a beautiful space. I was excited to see a free Photo Booth at the entrance. I booked my husband and I for a cupids crush cocktail making class. I saw the class advertised on social media and knew we have to check it out. Ginn, the instructor and lead bartender, was amazing. She made everything look effortless and shared the best little nuggets of knowledge along the way. Truly the ultimate hype girl and the kind of energy you want behind the bar. The setup was beyond gorgeous. Every detail felt intentional, elevated, and special. As locals, we are a little toured out, but experiences like this are everything. Getting a peek into special spaces while learning more about the bourbon world made it feel personal and unique. My husband and I cannot stop talking about how cool this was. This was a beautiful distillery visitor center with signed barrels lining the entrance foyer and coffee to greet you. I didn't get the tour but did the premium tasting and so glad I did. I see Bulleit often in the stores but never had tried them. Each of the whiskeys we tried were smooth and a true treat. We ended up leaving with a 10 year Rye. The prices were reasonable and they had many different kinds to choose from including premade cocktails. The workers were kind, ready to help and all smiles. Overall, definitely recommend! read more

I purchased a tour and a smoked old fashion mixology class as a gift for my husband. I knew he would love it and I thought the drive would be nice. Boy was I surprised to find an incredible, elegant and educational experience. The tour was delightful and the tasting reveled any wine tasting I've done. The highlight was the class which was taught by Ginn who was amazing! She is so knowledgeable and provided a historical perspective as well as thought is the art of a smoked old fashion. The only disappointment was there was no restaurant on site but there were snacks for sale in the shop. Drinkers and non drinkers alike will be impressed. Staff were impressive and kind. Another great distillery tour at Bulleit! This place is highly technologically advanced in its production lines. The different models seen on the tour really help your understanding of bourbon processing etc. But the kicker on this tour is the test tasting session: They have you try the bourbon first; then try the bourbon after sniffing a little snifter (before and after) drinking the bourbon. Gee, is it crazy how it changes the taste of the bourbons - based on the different types of snifters they have you use! You'll love it and the experience! read more

One of the best tasting experiences I've had around the world. We came in and were immediately greeted. The lady was super nice and helped us decide which tasting fit our timetable best. Love love love the ambiance inside, I would love to come back and do a tour when I have more time. My friend and I did a flight and whoooooo def needed some water with it because the Bulleit is def strong, but tasty. When visiting Louisville to experience The Bourbon Trail we had to plan a 45 minute excursion to go to the Bulleit Distillery because it's one of my husband's favorites. Wow! What an impressive facility! Even though everyplace we visited was over 5 years old; it looked brand new. The floors, walls, windows, stairs, and grounds were so clean; it's hard to believe that it's a working distillery that also has tours. I need to hire their cleaning staff! Ash, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable and he told us about the beginnings of the company and thoroughly explained all the steps of Bulleit's distilling process. He also answered questions along the way for the tour group of about 20 as we traveled through multiple areas. The tour lasted about 45 minutes. Then, since we all became bourbon experts, we were allowed to sample the products. What was really unique about this was that we had little aroma jars to sniff before sampling each whisky. Ash also changed up the lighting and music for each selection to really set the mood for tasting. I am not really a bourbon drinker, this excursion was more for my husband, but I discovered that I really enjoyed the Bulleit Rye Whisky; something I'd never tried before. Of course my husband loved all the samples. After our tour we checked out the gift shop. What an array of products! Clothing, hats, books, magnets, ornaments, glasses, signs, and of course bourbon. We bought a hat and a "bung" Christmas ornament. My only suggestion would be to offer a small discount, 10-15% after a tour to promote more sales. The bar was open after our tour, (since it was now after 12:00,) but we had to hurry back for another tour reservation so sadly we didn't get to experience that. I do have to say Bulleit puts on an amazing tour, well worth a little extra drive. read more

This was our first stop for my friend's bachelorette bourbon tour. I'm not really a bourbon drinker, but I still had fun! This was honestly maybe my least favorite of the three tours I went on (behind Woodford Reserve and Angel's Envy), but it was a positive experience overall that I'd recommend if you're interested in bourbon or really any kind of alcohol production. Our guide was Brittany. Her tour speeches felt a little canned/unnatural but she was pleasant and funny and clearly very knowledgeable as none of our tour's questions tripped her up at all. For this tour, we got to board a bus and see a little bit of the grounds, see some of the production, and learn about Bulleit's sustainability measures. That last part was unique and I appreciated it. Our tasting consisted of four pours. This tour had little "scent clouds" in small metal tins that we were coached to shake-sniff-sip-sniff. It changed the taste of the bourbon in unique and pleasant ways. I'd never done that before and it was fun. After that, it was on to the clean and attractive gift shop and out to take group pictures. The grounds were pretty and so was the inside so it was easy to get cute photos. Again, since I'm not really a bourbon drinker, it all tasted more or less the same to me. But I had a good time and would definitely encourage anyone with an interest in this kind of thing to check it out. read more

Not far out of my way, it had to be Bulleit as I drive through Bourbon country and unlike when I was in the neighborhood a few years ago (stupid COVID!), I was able to book a tasting. We had a lovely tasting guide with small pours of four different bourbons and eyes including their sold out ten year. Sadly, that one wasn't in the gift shop any more. Tasting was fabulous and fun. It's amazing how as she pointed out the tasting notes, I went, "Yeah, I taste vanilla" from one and "woodsmoke" from another and more. Everyone's palette is different but mine seems to line up well. I learned about terms including "Oopsie drunk" (you won't notice the sweet rye until 'oops, I'm drunk!') and "Kentucky hug" where you feel the alcohol in your chest and lastly, "Kentucky kiss" where you feel it in your mouth. Really interesting and yes, I bought a bottle and a fridge magnet from the gift shop. read more

Very clean well kept property. Brand new distillery opened 2017...not one of the old historic distillery grounds. It is a good example of a brand new distillery matched with a long history of distilling. It has interesting history. Original distillery opened in 1830 and made whiskey for only 3 decades. Great, great grandson Tom Bulleit finally began distillery in 1987 for ten years and then sold to Seagrams. Around the turn of the millenium, Bulleit was made by Four Roses until Bulleit's own distillery was opened in 2017. We weren't able to experience a tour. We visited the gift shop and bought a bottle of the Bulleit 10. read more

For bourbon enthusiasts distillery tours and tastings are just plain fun! I have not found one that I did not enjoy. Bulleit has some unique things going for them with their set up that was enjoyable. The location is off the beaten path, but the address using GPS will get you to their front door. Earlier that day I did an online reservation for a tasting. The tour was sold out. Parking was plentiful. The building has a rustic feel and appears somewhat newer. The interior offers a wow factor when walking in with barrels on both sides ground to ceiling. A friendly host greeted me and confirmed the tasting time. Bourbon slushy's are available. I used the time to enjoy the gift shop which also offers bourbon for sale. I decided to get a few souvenirs and bourbon fudge they were sampling. The tasting area was on time and set up with four approximately 02 ounce pours and accompanied tins to smell after the first sip. There was nothing that personally blew me away outside the 10 year. The woman who conducted the tasting was entertaining and energetic. I did learn they are much more progressive about their production and storage. Such as all their Rick Houses are newer structures and climate controlled. So overall I did enjoy. Although I would not return unless I had a tour of the distillery I would recommend to others. Biggest disappointment was no 10 year for sale. read more

I don't know if we hit this place in between your buses or just happened to walk in at a quiet time but I loved the vibe. Warm staff, nice facilities, great outdoor space and put me completely at ease. My spouse, the actual bourbon and rye lover, felt comfortable asking questions, checking out bottles and my daughters and I enjoyed a beautiful afternoon on the porch.
