We took the tour of the distillery and had a tasting and both were fantastic!!! First, the grounds and setting are beautiful and immaculate. The welcome center is upscale in a bourbon kind of way. Stacked barrels, art and subdued lighting. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Our tour included a bus ride to the distillery and in-depth discussion about fermentation and distillation. We learned about the high rye factors that make Bulleit bourbons unique. Our tour guide and was knowledgeable, interesting and threw in a joke or two. The tasting was fun and educational. We learned how different components change the taste and smell of the bourbons. The recipes were developed years ago by the Tom Bulleit's great grandfather. The entire tour is fully wheelchair assessable including the bus. There is plenty of parking in the private lot (but no shaded spaces). Dogs are not permitted in the center. We had a large group and we needed to cancel two of the reservations and we were able to call and cancel with no issues. The tours with tasting are $15 (which was a bargain). The gift shop offers all the blends of Bulleit Bourbon and Rye in all sizes. Bourbon shirts and other fun accessories and mixers are also available. I highly recommend the tour and visit.

We took the smash cocktail class at Bulleit and Ginn was our host. It was our favorite activity from any distillery we visited. Ginn was informative and fun and our group loved the cocktails that we learned to make. We would highly recommend this experience!

Learned that they intentionally put the labels on the bottles crooked. And they use 5 different yeasts to make their bourbons. Got a sweet bourbon shirt for $15. Took a tour with a sensory tasting and bought a bottle to mark our retirement. Life is good.

Our Valentine experience at Bulleit Distilling Company was absolutely unforgettable. The visitor center is located in the sticks but don't let that discourage you. Plenty of parking and a beautiful space. I was excited to see a free Photo Booth at the entrance. I booked my husband and I for a cupids crush cocktail making class. I saw the class advertised on social media and knew we have to check it out. Ginn, the instructor and lead bartender, was amazing. She made everything look effortless and shared the best little nuggets of knowledge along the way. Truly the ultimate hype girl and the kind of energy you want behind the bar. The setup was beyond gorgeous. Every detail felt intentional, elevated, and special. As locals, we are a little toured out, but experiences like this are everything. Getting a peek into special spaces while learning more about the bourbon world made it feel personal and unique. My husband and I cannot stop talking about how cool this was. Hands down the best Valentine's ever. Thank you Ginn and the entire Bulleit staff for a great experience. We cannot wait to return!

The property and visitors center was very nice! The overall tour was fine as most of the distillery viewing was through windows. We loved our tour guide who was clearly passionate about bourbon! The tasting was very unique in that each pour came with a scent orb that enhanced the flavors so that was interesting. Worth checking out if you're in the area.

This was a beautiful distillery visitor center with signed barrels lining the entrance foyer and coffee to greet you. I didn't get the tour but did the premium tasting and so glad I did. I see Bulleit often in the stores but never had tried them. Each of the whiskeys we tried were smooth and a true treat. We ended up leaving with a 10 year Rye. The prices were reasonable and they had many different kinds to choose from including premade cocktails. The workers were kind, ready to help and all smiles. Overall, definitely recommend!

I purchased a tour and a smoked old fashion mixology class as a gift for my husband. I knew he would love it and I thought the drive would be nice. Boy was I surprised to find an incredible, elegant and educational experience. The tour was delightful and the tasting reveled any wine tasting I've done. The highlight was the class which was taught by Ginn who was amazing! She is so knowledgeable and provided a historical perspective as well as thought is the art of a smoked old fashion. The only disappointment was there was no restaurant on site but there were snacks for sale in the shop. Drinkers and non drinkers alike will be impressed. Staff were impressive and kind. Really couldn't have asked for a nicer time. Kids were welcome on the tour for those passing through with little ones.

I've done this tour twice now and will always enjoy it! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Super modern, very cool property, nice bar, fun (and incredibly reasonably priced) gift shop.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The tasting room is a cool little space and they really give you some solid pours of bourbon. Tour guides are all super informed and have great personalities. I love the vibes with Bulleit and will always recommend this tour to those who ask.

The Smoked Old Fashioned Class was great and the Patio is very picturesque and relaxing! Definitely a must stop on The bourbon trail!

Another great distillery tour at Bulleit! This place is highly technologically advanced in its production lines. The different models seen on the tour really help your understanding of bourbon processing etc. But the kicker on this tour is the test tasting session: They have you try the bourbon first; then try the bourbon after sniffing a little snifter (before and after) drinking the bourbon. Gee, is it crazy how it changes the taste of the bourbons - based on the different types of snifters they have you use! You'll love it and the experience!

One of the best tasting experiences I've had around the world. We came in and were immediately greeted. The lady was super nice and helped us decide which tasting fit our timetable best. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Love love love the ambiance inside, I would love to come back and do a tour when I have more time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My friend and I did a flight and whoooooo def needed some water with it because the Bulleit is def strong, but tasty. Love how they included chocolate with our tasting flight as well, it was a perfect pairing. I'll for sure be back again, it was a wonderful time.

This was a stop on the whim for cocktails only. The space is gorgeous. Bartender was very friendly and made fantastic drinks. She actually grows the herbs in the back of the distillery. They have a very nice retro looking front sitting area for the fireplace and outdoor seating in the back great views of the countryside. Even though we didn't do a tour we had a great time.

Ask the Community - Bulleit Distilling Co Visitor Experience

Are you able to purchase a drink from the bar instead of a tasting?

    Yep!

What food trucks are expected to be there Saturday (June 4th)?

There was no food truck when we visited Friday 5/13.

Is this a place a group of friends and I could bring kids? Some of us would tour and some of us are looking to hang out with the kids.

I think so... there is a nice sitting area inside and outside and a fun gift shops and inside

My group of four decided to wrap up our epic Bourbon Trail weekend at Michter's Fort Nelson Distillery right before heading to the airport. Having already hit six other distilleries over the weekend, we were completely "toured out" and opted to bypass the standard distillery tour. Instead, we headed straight upstairs to the bar and it was the best decision. We happened to visit right at the start of Derby week, so the entire building was alive and buzzing. Because of the festivities, they were highlighting their own rendition of the Derby fan favorite Mint Julep. I had to get one, and it did not disappoint. It was well crafted, perfectly balanced, and served in the classic, frost chilled sterling silver cup. Easily one of the best Juleps I've ever had. The bar area itself is beautifully appointed, sitting on one of the top floors of the historic building with a great atmosphere. A massive bonus: they offer patrons free bar snacks. The seasoned corn nuts were an absolute hit at our table, to the point where we had to ask for seconds (and they happily obliged!). Service was fantastic from start to finish. Despite the Derby week crowds, our water glasses were never empty and the cocktails came out incredibly fast. Whether you are doing a full day of tours or just want a world class drink in a stunning setting, Michter's is a phenomenal addition to any Louisville itinerary.

They created our birthday girl as a reservation for 2 instead of 6 and helped us surprise her at the table. The lighting is a bit dark but that helped the surprise. The manager brought out a sparkling wine and the chef sent out an amuse bouche. The pimento spread was so good we took a pint home for $20 (shhh secret). Our waitress Mo was professional a helpful with meal suggestions and separating some mushrooms for me. The shrimp appetizer is delicious and had 9 shrimp. The corn fitters come in 4 and Mo added 2. They were okay but I'd try something different in the future. The whole large kernels were odd in a light fritter. Our meals were fantastic. Everyone raved about bites of the filet and the chicken dish. The bolognese is a staple in the menu and was almost the perfect bite, perhaps a bit more meat in the sauce but the pasta was perfect. I had the wild boar and goat cheese polenta. The polenta didn't have a strong goatyness to it but was creamy, I ate it all. The boar was done to just short of falling off the bone. I used a piece of the grilled bread from my friends pasta to finish the meal. The wine list is short but complex. We had the Rioja red, so dry and smelled of old leather, but was a perfect wine to cut through the richness of the dishes. Our seat had a great view of the whiskey wall (almost every seat does) and it was a conversation piece the whole evening. Oh, forgot to mention the manhattan can be made into a black manhattan- outstanding. Best I've had in a restaurant. We are already making plans for our parties next birthday in July and will be asking for Mo. she was there at every turn throughout the meal. Pleasant and there to help at any point. The manager checked on us two times. WHP does fine dining so well. I haven't had such a wonderful evening for everyone in quite some time. We will be back and highly recommend. Will be sending out an executive's here when they are looking for L'ville dining. Well done. Sorry no pics, the room is dark and the ones I took don't do the meal justice.

Our experience started at parking, there were multiple tour busses idling in the lot, and cars were parked rather haphazardly. We were directed to park on the side of the road with such a steep drop off, at one point our Yukon had two wheels off the ground. When checking in to the the $35/person tour (which we booked two weeks ago) I mentioned the parking situation and was told "yeah it's really bad, but we're working on it." I don't own a distillery, but seems an obvious solve is asking the tour buses to park up the road by the gift shop vs taking up space in the lot. We were eager to join our tour and forget about the stressful lot but alas, our tour was an absolute shit show. I stopped counting when I hit to 50 people, our tour guide had a loud speaker, most people in the tour were drunk and talking over him, and for the first time in many many tours, we walked off before we ever got a chance to try anything. There is no reason but greed to not cap a tour, they were making close to 2 grand off a miserable experience for their guests. Again, I do think it was likely an outlier but we will never be back, and I will ensure no one I know ever goes either.

They also had a chocolate pairing you could purchase with a selection for each barrel. They had a nice little gift shop and we perused what they had to offer and purchased a Glencairn glass for our collection at home. We sat down at the bar to order our cocktails. Valentine's Day (my birthday) had just passed a couple weeks prior and they still had their V-Day special on the menu so I ordered that cocktail. It was a fine cocktail although not my favorite of the day. The hubby ordered a Maple Smoked Manhattan which had Whiskey Thief Bourbon, sweet vermouth, bitters, and maple syrup and he said he enjoyed it. Sitting at the bar was nice because they had a huge window open to the outside and you could feel the warmth of the day and a slight breeze. We will definitely be back to try the barrel flight and the chocolate pairing. Nice little place.
