The haunted house had a decent amount of scare actors and the overall decoration and atmosphere were great. They provide food and drinks for purchase after, as well as a small gift shop. Notice: Bathrooms are accessible AFTER the haunted house. Until you reach the exit, there are port-a-potties available before you enter the building.

I tried booking online thru Eventbrite but all tours that weekend were fully booked. I decided to give it a shot and called them. They were able to squeeze us in the first tour of the evening which was 9:00p. We arrived 15 mins early as instructed and made our way inside the gothic building. As many other curious visitors of Waverly Hills we were in search of history, architecture and the paranormal. There was a sign posted inside as we were registering: "This establishment is reported to be Haunted. Management is NOT responsible and cannot be held liable for any actions of any Ghosts/Spirits on these premises." www.theRealWaverlyHIlls.com Background: Waverly Hills Sanatorium was a former tuberculosis hospital in Louisville KY. TB was widespread in the area, resulting in a waiting list to stay at the sanatorium. Despite its name, Waverly Hills was not a mental hospital; a sanatorium is any institution that provides treatment and convalescence for chronic illnesses. Our tour guide was a member of the Historical Society. The experience included a guided tour where we were lead, at least partially, across all 5 floors and we also had the chance to look down the body chute. Waverly Hills has a reputation as one of the most haunted places in America and has been featured on ghost hunting shows as "Ghost Hunters," "Ghost Adventures," "Paranormal Lockdown," and "Buzzfeed Unsolved." There were some 30 of us in the tour... the historical stories shared with us were interesting and cool but I did not feel any of the following: full grabs, see shadows, apparitions, or shadow people, feel permanent residents walking up to people, taps, temp changes-cold spots, or hotspots, heard screams, footsteps nor door slamming. Too many people on our tour but I can't complain because we were just lucky to get in as extras. It seems that this location is not open as consistently as the Birthplace Historical Site nearby. It was closed on the day that we happened to be around, but we were still able to park and walk around. There's a visitor center / gift shop and a replica cabin representing Lincoln's boyhood home. Beyond that, there are some trails and an overlook onto a prairie, but overall the park is small. It's worth a stop if you are in the area visiting other Lincoln sites, but it's less impressive than the Birthplace Historical Site nearby.

Our daughter had spent part of her growing-up years here in Frankfort, where my husband and I have lived for 50+ years. She enjoys introducing her Colorado daughter to the beautifully forested, living beauty of Kentucky's natural world. Before departing the dock, we enjoyed browsing in the gift shop, with a great assortment of caps, tee shirts, memorabilia, and some Ale8! Upon boarding the boat, the crew offered a bourbon service that would rival most any local selection. We all enjoyed lovely bourbon refreshments! Together with visitors from Tennessee and other nearby states, we learned some Kentucky River geography and history, along with equine, bourbon, and horse racing history. The captain was skillful and knowledgeable, as she cruised the riverboat on the sunny Sunday afternoon. The tour guide was a true font of history with amusing anecdotes of his personal career in the bourbon industry and his overall knowledge of the Commonwealth. He was friendly, engaging and humorous. The round trip ride lasted about 90 minutes. The boat was very nice with bench seating and the ride was smooth. We sat upstairs in the open air to enjoy to scenery. A bar tender will take drink orders and deliver beverages to your seats. Drink prices are reasonable. Drinks can also be ordered and purchased on line. (I think snacks were also available). We booked our cruise several months in advance with tour and tasting tickets at Buffalo Trace Distillery. Two members of our party backed out and we were able to cancel their reservations (thankfully) the week before and get a refund. We started with our visit to Buffalo Trace. We arrived about an hour early so we could shop at the distillery and we were glad we did because we did not have time to shop after the tasting and getting to the boat. The tight timeline between the tasting and the boat departure was the only downside to the trip. I recommend the cruise, but plan on going at least an hour early to the distillery to shop.

This is the only thing I could find. There were lots of interesting stories I learned, but I will say I was a little skeptical about some of them because the detail that was provided seemed impossible to be known. They did mention that there's going to be some documentaries coming out on HBO and I'm very excited to watch those. It might give me a little more context into how some of this is known. Highly recommend had a great time and I'd probably do it again.

While here working for Western Union, Edison rented a duplex. He was presumed to be around 19. In the city of Louisville at the time his skills with the telegraph presented him with work. During his time here he worked on improving the telegraph system and other equipment. At this little museum come and see the space that has been created in his honor . Many different patents he created. A few models can be seen here on display at this museum. For parking purposes they have a small lot. The hours vary so check before you come . If only for a brief moment in time, Edison studied here. It has been preserved for you to come.

Everyone raved about bites of the filet and the chicken dish. The bolognese is a staple in the menu and was almost the perfect bite, perhaps a bit more meat in the sauce but the pasta was perfect. I had the wild boar and goat cheese polenta. The polenta didn't have a strong goatyness to it but was creamy, I ate it all. The boar was done to just short of falling off the bone. I used a piece of the grilled bread from my friends pasta to finish the meal. The wine list is short but complex. We had the Rioja red, so dry and smelled of old leather, but was a perfect wine to cut through the richness of the dishes. Our seat had a great view of the whiskey wall (almost every seat does) and it was a conversation piece the whole evening. Oh, forgot to mention the manhattan can be made into a black manhattan- outstanding. Best I've had in a restaurant. We are already making plans for our parties next birthday in July and will be asking for Mo. she was there at every turn throughout the meal. Pleasant and there to help at any point. Food 2.5/5: This obviously carries the most weight. The menu itself is excellent and the descriptions and components of each dish sound perfect. The execution was way off! Literally everything was far too salty and we ordered things that should not be salty... diver scallops and black cod. These are delicate proteins that don't need much help. Why oh why over-salt these?! Oddly the cook on both was very good but the seasoning ruined both dishes. Drinks 4.5/5: We had 3 different cocktails all of which were excellent.
