If I could give negative stars, I would. I attended a very informative course, introduction to hand guns. I really enjoyed the class and we were able to shoot 16 different guns. The store has the widest selection of guns to rent in the city. I ventured in to rent 3 specific 9mms to determine which one I would purchase. The representative scoffed at me and stated, "you do not need a 9mm". I asked him to explain why he thought this and he said I was too petite and could never handle the power. He suggested a 32 because they were made for women, smaller to fit into a purse, and my small hands. I informed him I was in the market for a 9mm--that I had taken the course, done a lot of research, and had my mind made up. I again asked to rent the specific models that I came to the shop to shoot. He then had the audacity to ask if I actually hit the target during the course. I told him to stand in front of it and we'll see! I am not easily offended by much, but his disrespect and condescending treatment makes me adamantly tell others to stay away. My glock 19c and I go to DFW gun...they know how to treat their customers well. read more

I had a wonderful experience at the Intro to Handguns course! The classroom section was very informative and the instructor was excellent. He kept the class fun and engaging, and was knowledgeable. The shooting part was also great. We all got to practice loading and firing several different semi-automatics and revolvers. It was my first time ever even touching a gun, so I was a bit apprehensive. Fortunately, the two instructors in the shooting range were patient, helpful, and encouraging the whole time. I'd definitely recommend this course to others who are unfamiliar with guns. The three hours just flew by! read more

Basic indoor pistol range. Needs an overhaul but gets the job done in a pinch. Staff were courteous and professional.

Fast in and out on a Saturday morning cost me about $20. Standard lanes with the usual targets. Didn't have the zombie targets I like. Would've gone 4 stars, but I saw several customers being poorly treated by sales people. Kind old man was being talked down to when he was asking a simple question about getting a grip. Just bought my first GLOCK 9mm 4Gen. Incredible gun! Wanted to leave a review of my experience with Jake at Bullet Trap. First of all, you won't find a better place to look for a new gun! Their selection is top notch!!!! Jake's knowledge base is incredible. He was able to explain and give a lot of information on several guns throughout the store. He helped me decide on the best gun for me. The other guys in the store also helped with their input. This place has great customer service. They value your time and business. They definitely made a client out of me. Recently, I took my new gun to test it out at the range and Jake was there. When he saw me, he immediately came over to me and answered some questions I had. This is a great place to shoot in the winter,spring or late fall. One MAJOR complaint, hence the 4 stars is NO AC in the range area. What are they thinking? Ok gave it another try just to make sure I was being fair to Bullet Trap. Guess what.... Nothing changed! I walked into Bullet Trap on a Saturday morning and stood at the counter while 8 employees worked or at least standing behind the counter chatted away as if I was invisible. Then an employee walked in from the range area and asked if I was being helped. When i said not yet, he was very helpful in getting me a lane. And that's my point, for a family run business how do you have so many employees just BS'ing and not taking care of customers. If this was the only time I observed this it would not be an issue but this is usually the case at Bullet Trap. On top of that the employees have a condescending attitude towards all customers and display no knowledge of what customer service is. If this is really a family business then the family is really out of touch with what happens in their establishment. The main reason they generate business is because it's the only range in the Plano area. I was excited to hear the a new range will be opening in Frisco in 2013 but i became disappointed to hear that the new Frisco Gun Club is really Bullet Trap. They will charge more for all the services because they claim it will be "a totally different experience". I must ask, how can this be true if they provide such poor service today. I won't challenge the experience they have with firearms but Cabelas also has the same level of experienced employees but they are so much more friendly and attentive. In closing, I recommend using them if its convenient for you, but no sooner another range opens in the area, give them a try and compare. read more

Staff is rude and judgmental. It's an "indoor range" but the actual range is 90+ degrees. And it is extremely expensive our tab was $150 for about 45 minutes... And because we didn't look like their average clientele we weren't treated very well at all. read more

Took the CHL class with Peter Cooney, and I can definitely recommend it! The subject matter is dry, but Peter made it an enjoyable class. He made it fun, and enjoyable. It did not feel like a six hour class! His way of conducting the class made it easy to remember what we needed to retain! He did a great job and you could tell that he has perfected the way of instructing a class that would normally be boring. Peter makes the class interactive and as fun as can be! If you have been on the fence about taking this class... sign up for it! Thank you Peter! Thank you Bullet Trap! And as an added bonus, you will get free range passes at the end of the class that you can use to practice your shooting skills! I ended up being the only person that signed up for a certain time slot for my shooting qualification, but Peter was awesome about it! I'd rather drive all the way to the DFW Gun Range from Denton to EVER step foot again this crappy place. The staff are arrogant rude idiots that have a lot to learn about customer service and firearms. We've become members because we like the location but mostly the staff. They're very knowledgable and down to earth. We always have great conversations and learn something new each time we go. All guests we've brought have felt the same. If you haven't been there go check it out. I have been to Bullet Trap several times and the service has been consistently good. The shooting bays are a little worn and the lighting dim. This place is a descent place to shoot nothing outstanding and nothing horrible. The staff that handles the processing and receipt of guns bought online and then shipped to their store are horrendous. They proceeded to talk rudely about me on the phone when they didn't think I could hear, then when confronted about it, they admitted that they said what they said but tried to play it off by saying that talking about me isn't rude. There is basically no management to take your grievances to, and others I know have had similar negative interaction with the non-instructor staff. It's too bad, the store is fine, the staff ruin it. I will never ship guns to this store again and tell everyone I know to avoid this store like the plague. I used to actually enjoy this range but this past weekend I had a horrible experience I went in as I normally do because I was a customer that would come pretty often until that day I will no longer spend my money with this establishment the issue I had was that I was at the range firing my 22 rifle and also there was a man with a 22 as well who was shooting pretty fast but one of the employees came in and said who was shooting fast it wasn't me otherwise I would of said it was me but he came up to me and raised his voice at me and got in my face I truly felt threatened I don't deserve to be treated like that if I'm a paying customer I should be treat with respect the employee was a heavier set man with a beard he is extremely rude and honestly I feel targeted due to my ethnicity so just know he's the reason I will never come back to bullet trap read more

I have gone to the range and shot couple of times. The staff was nice, I rented couple of guns and asked questions. I can see that during busy times especially the weekends they don't have time to chit chat as mentioned in other reviews but they are usually friendly and accommodating. Excellent range, reasonable prices, great CHL education. They should round the facility out by adding a shotgun, high power rifle and enclosed test fire lane. Also the a/c never seems to be working in the range areas. Too hot to go inside during summer. I also know they own Frisco Gun Club and I would like to use that facility sometime. I'm not able to though because a person on a limited disability income can not afford the membership or the hourly rate they charge for range use. read more

We ordered a P224 in May of 2012. As of May of this year (2013) it has still not arrived so we cancelled the order and got our deposit back. I decided I still want the gun so we went to BT tonight to see if they had any in-stock. As soon as we walk in, we are warmly greeted by Asa. He even gave a smile to our 5-month old who was with us. Asa was super nice and checked the stock for us. He took the time to explain the deal with Sig Sauer's shipping time and ultimately we re-ordered the gun. Asa told us about the one-on-one classes they provide, which we didn't know BT had such a thing. I am finally surrendering my CA license for my TX one this week. As soon as I have my TX license I will be coming back for the one-on-one class and ultimately my CHL. Sure, there are a lot of options when it comes to gun shops in Texas, but the customer service tonight was impeccable. read more

I stopped in to learn about the LTC class they offer. The guy at the front counter was super helpful. He told me when the classes were offered and how to sign up. He gave me a quick break down of the whole process and even gave me a code to save some $ on the cost of the class. Then the day of the class couldn't have been better. 6 hours could have been torture, but Peter the instructor, was informative with just enough entertainment to keep the class moving AND informative. Peter made it super easy to find a time to go back for the shooting portion as well. I went an hour early to the range before the shooting portion to get a little practice in and signing in was easy as could be. When I realized I really didn't need an hour of warm up, one of the employees found Peter for me and we moved up my shoot time. Test was easy and Peter was again, great. Then after the test, Peter went the extra mile and talked to me about different concealment options given my size, what I wear daily, etc. Like any retail store, I'm sure they get the occasional bad employee but every person I dealt with there was professional. read more

Excellent friendly customer service. A no frills place to shoot. Clean and safe. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. Prices are reasonable. Handgun rental selection is very good. Options to buy new and consigned handguns is good. Price for ammo is fair. This staff are serious but customer focused much unlike their "sister facility/Frisco gun club". At Bullet Trap you get knowledgeable, non fanatical but functional common sense firearm and shooting service. Great fun and safe place for the whole family to enjoy and practice. Hubby spends more time here than I do, but I do enjoy putting holes in paper from time to time! The employees here have been very knowledgeable every time we've had questions about a gun we were looking at, etc. For those of you that have met me, I'm small. This means I have small hands, so it can be difficult to find a gun that feels good in my hand. Given the fact that we no longer have access to a personal outdoor range that we can go to, we enjoy this indoor range as much as possible! I've had nothing but great success here. Friendly staff that patiently answers questions. I took the handgun course (not the CHL) and had a blast so came back to test some handguns and bought one. I've been back a few times to practice and they were so patient and helpful when the gun jammed and I just couldn't get it to unjam. Once I got the feel of my new gun down, I haven't had any problems (it was my error not the gun). Looking forward to go back with my nephews for some shooting togetherness over the holidays. My husband signed us up for CHL class online. I was not looking forward to sitting in class all day AT ALL. The instructor, Peter was surprisingly entertaining and full of knowledge to share. I actually enjoyed the class he taught. Tonight we went for our range test and again he gives clear instruction and is just a delight to be around. This place is not Cabela's. What I mean is that if you are looking for smiles and immaculate carpet you have come to the wrong place. This place is a no frills gun shop and pistol range. You go there to shoot, maybe buy some ammo and tear out. The prices on most things at the Bullet Trap are over priced but they are also a small business and they frankly can't compete with big box stores or online shops. It's a good place if you just want to pop a few rounds off but if you're looking for a friendly neighborhood arms dealer, go elsewhere. I would go more often but they don't allow pistol caliber carbines and a bit pricey for a line. read more

I feel like this gun range is good, the guys at the desk are professional and courteous. I asked a guy about a particular gun I wanted, they didn't have it in stock but he gave me information on it and where I could probably find it. They also referred me to a gunsmith at Frisco Gun Club who turned out to be a great guy. The range is what should be expected at a gun range, dim, cold & heavily worn. You can bring your own ammo, but their range ammo seemed fairly reasonable, $17 for a box of 38spl. Can't complain overall, I would consider going again and buying my guns here for sure. read more
