    I called Bumble Bee Plumbing expecting a straightforward quote for a basic electric water heater replacement. The office staff was friendly and scheduled a same-day visit for a $65 fee, which sounded promising. Unfortunately, the "plumbing professional" who arrived felt much more like a salesperson than a technician. I was quoted over $10,000, sat through multiple upsell packages, financing pitches, and a full lesson on how water heaters work. This is my fourth replacement, so none of that was exactly new information. The entire visit ended up being a waste of my time. I paid the $65, politely declined, and moved on. Three other reputable plumbing companies quoted the same job between $1,700 and $2,000.

    The company's ad

    I contacted Bumble Bee after experiencing a sewer line clog and was drawn in by their advertised $53 "guaranteed" drain clearing special, as well as promotional video referencing a $93 drain clearing that included a camera inspection. Based on those advertisements, I had a clear expectation of what the service would cost. However, during the call, I was informed there would first be a service call fee -- which was higher than the advertised drain clearing special -- and only after that would I receive an estimate to actually clear the clog. That experience did not align with how the promotion was presented and felt misleading. Because of this, I chose not to move forward. Instead, I hired another company that resolved the clog quickly, transparently, and at a very reasonable total cost. My advice to potential customers is to carefully clarify pricing details upfront and ensure the advertised specials match the actual service structure before booking... I ultimately paid Delta Mechanical $33 to have the clog cleared, no absurd service charge, no hidden fees, just honest business. And you can bet I gave my technician one heck of a tip and left rave reviews, unlike this review in which I would give ZERO stars if I could!

    I was optimistic about this company because of good reviews on Google and Yelp and Nextdoor. While…read morethe cause of my leak seems to be resolved (at least for now) it did bother me that I took the time to ask several times with the dispatcher "Taneea"(sp) and she said there was no fee to diagnose and I kept asking are you sure because in order to see where the leak is coming from my bathroom upstairs from the shower and where it settling we need to look at the pipes underneath where the drywall is and that involves cutting the ceiling drywall. And I asked her again several times if there's any charge for leak tracing or anything she was leaving out just to look and see before repairing and she said no, there's no diagnostic charge. They get here and tell me it's gonna be $125 just to cut the drywall and I just don't understand how there can be such a disparity between what I verified by phone and what I was being told now. And even if I give them the benefit of the doubt that the dispatcher was mistaken (though that's something very strange for a dispatcher who works for and represents a company to say, if not true) the fact that she did tell me that clearly, you would think to keep a customer they would stand by their own word, so not a great first impression. I still paid them $455 to change the cartridge in my shower, but they would not take five or ten minutes to cut up two 6"x6" holes in the drywall and look inside to see if there's any other extensive damage or leaking. I may just leave it for now and keep an eye for any signs of staining or moisture rather than deal with drywall repair. I still will inspect around the electrical where the ceiling fan canopy is and remove it from the ceiling to see if there's any water damage to the fan and light fixture or if it can be salvaged and still works once all is dry and I can restore power to the room. But they refused to look for any signs below to ensure there were no other signs of a leak unless I paid more. Another thing is with a large hole behind the shower faucet escutcheon where the leak occurred what's to keep another cartridge from failing and leaking right down into the room below and getting into the electrical and drywall and ruining another ceiling fan? I wish they'd have taken the time to tell me how to seal off that wall behind the faucet handle or given me suggestions but they just kind of did their job and left. They didn't offer me any advice or tips to prevent this again or set my mind at ease, and taking the time to do that would have made me feel more "taken care of" and built a rapport as a new customer. They just wanted to do the job I asked and go. So while I have no other complaints so far, they didn't go the extra mile or make me feel reassured at all for such a serious issue. It was just a "job" to cross of their list and not spend a second longer than necessary to show, discuss or reassure.
