Called Gabe about my leaking water heater. Was able to speak with him quickly about a replacement gas 40 gal. tank. He had me go to Lowes (online) and order the replacement unit, so I wasn't paying a markup from the installer. He picked up the unit from Lowes and just charged for the install. The advantage in this is you can chose the unit you want by quality and price. Units with longer warranties will cost more, probable between 6 to 12 years, so you get to decide what best for you without a installer charging a big markup. I was able to was my military discount for 10 % off. Another advantage is you are the one purchasing the unit. If there is a problem with the unit in the future you can go back to the manufacturer or Lowes (who I have found to be very good at backing up their sales). If your installer provides the unit he may not be in business in 9 to 10 years. Install was completed quickly. I had three other quotes before calling Gabe. Working with One Shot was 20% less then the next lowest bid and half the price of the highest bid. Will use them again for any plumbing issues. read more

Be careful with this business. If they know you have an emergency, they overcharge you. Had a leaking water heater, 6.5 yrs old and was leaking thru the pipes and onto the ground outside. Wow. I messaged Gabe on Sunday, he responded right away, came out on Monday morning, and fixed the issue. I had a ceiling fan and an outlet on the same switch. When the fan stopped working, another electrician came out and took the fan off of the switch and got it working. I didn't realize until months later when I tried to plug something into the outlet on the switch, that now the outlet had stopped working. I hit up the owner, Gabriel (who goes by Gabe), around 7 pm on a Thursday night after my stackable W/D broke down and the washer completely stopped at "Rinse" during a large wash cycle of clothes. I was freaking out and felt like it was an impossible mission - I have people coming in town in two days, I have tons of laundry to do to get extra bedding/towels around, and my landlord lives across the country. Added on that, it's a Thursday evening after hours and it's getting to be hot outside again, so contractors are busy bees right now as it is. He responded immediately to my message sent on Yelp, and was just as knowledgable and helpful as his reviews say! He asked for specific photos of my washer and the model number for the unit and assured me he could handle the job. This is a rare instance where I wish I could rate a company with 6 stars. The short of it: Gabe is efficient, knowledgeable, and surprisingly quiet with his work. He takes time to educate me about what he has done and what I can do to keep things around my house running smoothly post-repair. The long version: I have a 16-year-old house that has seen very little maintenance over the years. It needs a lot of TLC and there are tons of odd things needing fixed/replaced. Almost everything I've thrown at Gabe, he's been able to fix the same week. What little he can't tackle himself he's recommended folks for. I plan to check them out because I am hoping they'll be as great to work with as One Shot Installation has been. At this point Gabe's been to my place three times. Working with him is a very comfortable experience. It's like working with a family friend, not a big soulless corporation. I really feel like he cares about the long-term, both where his business is concerned and my home too. This isn't just about home repair. This is home maintenance. Here's an example of our working situation so far: While he was out installing new lights I'd purchased to replace ancient broken ones in the bathroom, he heard my dying front-loader washer and we got to talking about it. Turns out, the thing should never have been installed on the 2nd floor because of its weight and that aside, it was in need of replacing. I'd suspected this for a while so I didn't mind having an appliance company install a new one fit for the house. But this didn't help the old dryer any. It was working poorly and I asked Gabe if he thought it should go too. He told me it was actually from a generation of really good dryers and that he wanted to see if some basic maintenance would fix it. He pulled a fluff-bunny the size of a cantaloupe out of my wall. After about an hour of vacuuming, the dryer now works better than it did when I got it from my mom-in-law. Gabe said it should last a while, if I keep it maintained. Which you can bet I will. The technical stuff: His prices are more than fair for the services he provides. Compared to other companies, he is on the low side of average, but I don't feel you can compare his work to other companies who offer similar rates. His work and personality are head-and-shoulders better than other places I've dealt with. I already have plans to work with Gabe after the New Year. My kids need a break from the renovating. Gabe is awesome. Very courteous, professional and came when he said he would. I've been having intermittent power failure in half of my house for the past couple of years at least. Power would come on and be fine for a couple months and out of the blue, half of the electricity would stop working. Had a couple other people check it out before but when they came out, the power would always kick back on and they could never figure out the problem. Finally I called Gabe and within a couple of minutes, he figured out the issue and told me it was an issue with the line coming in from APS and suggested that I call them ASAP to fix the issue on their end. Soooo I did that, and APS came out within a couple of hours and replaced the faulty wiring which didn't cost me anything extra since it was on their end. Gabe was right on the money, power is back on and stable! A lesson I did learn is that I should have just called APS first to check the problem and they could have told me whether it was their equipment or mine that needed repaired and it would have saved me the diagnostic fee of the electrician and would have cost me nothing. However I'm just happy an ongoing issue was finally resolved and that Gabe gave me a very fair and honest assessment so the diagnostic fee, which I could have avoided by calling APS, was in the long run, worth it to me in that I met a fair and honest electrician who didn't give me the runaround.
