I can't give Bumpy's 5 stars even if I want to. The reason is, iv'e hung out here since I was 21. No matter what happens to this joint, it will be close to me. Brian and Heather are some of the nicest, most honest friends iv'e meet. They are the newer owners of the tavern. I absolutley love the things they have done here. The only reason for 4 stars is, that I still miss the old days at the EYES TAVERN. But, even though I was nervous when they took over, I lerned very quickly that they were the right people. Bartender was super nice and made great drinks. We ordered nachos no meat and some tater tots after a 45 min wait we had to cancel. They had not started it yet they seemed really busy in the kitchen. The bartender was totally fine with us cancelling and didn't make us feel like shit. I hope to come back and give it a better rating. Love this place! Go there twice, maybe even once, and they'll remember your drink preference. And boy, they pour 'em stiff. Best drink value in town. Amazing the food they pump out of that tiny kitchen. Any 12" pizza is five bucks on Sunday, and they're great. Two bucks for two tacos on Tuesday night. The staff is friendly and fun. It is very small and gets packed at night, so getting from one end to the other can be a close up and personal experience. Smoking area on the back patio with a TV. Very good hot pastrami sandwich. I liked the horseradish mustard. The beer mugs were nice and iced. I had Whitecap my friend had what he asked for; a red beer. Service was simple efficient and fast. The bar tenders doubled as servers. The place can be listed as a dive but, I call it old fashion and comfortable. It is like sitting in an old broken in recliner. I haven't been to Bumpy's in a long while. I went there today. It wasn't busy, one bartender (a little blond girl) on duty with the one cook. I sat at the 1st table by the front door. Bartender was talking with the other customers seated at the bar. I waited patiently thinking the bartender would come over to take my order or at least acknowledge me and let me know she'd be with me in a bit. As I'm sitting, waiting, two other ladies walk in. I ask one of them that I knew if I needed to go up to the bar to get a drink because I hadn't been here in a while. She said it just depends on how busy she is. A few more minutes pass, my sister walks in and I tell her I'd been sitting here for about 15 minutes and not one head nod or any kind of acknowledgment from the bartender that she sees me or that she'll be with me in a few. Next thing I know, bartender is at the table next to ours talking to the two ladies that came in after me and brought them their drink. Talks to them and still doesn't acknowledge my sister and I. We decide to leave. I say goodbye to the lady I know and the bartender tries to say goodbye to us, although I wasn't talking to her. So I thanked her for her great service and for coming out to take our order. Idk what her response was, I didn't care, I couldn't get out of there fast enough. We walked across the street to Charlie's and were served right away. What's so sad is- - - I don't think the Bumpy's bartender even cared. Ignorance!!! Good help is hard to find these days. All I can say, is I won't rush to go back there. Hopefully, Heather, the owner sees this review and gives a training class to her staff (or at least this bartender that was on duty today) what good customer service is all about. read more

Wow! Absolutely the nastiest waitstaff I have ever run into. We stopped in following pizza and SODA at nearby Trackside Tavern (which is awesome). We thought, hey, let's have a beer and check it out. They were pretty busy and it took a sec to get to us, but that's ok. The selection was not huge but the beer was cold and good, which was nice. The atmosphere was divey, but clean, lively and pleasant and it smelled like the food might be good. I thought I had found a friendly spot. As I sipped my beer I was watching the heavyset male bartender with a dark beard and hair work making drinks. I was admiring his technique and asked him a couple friendly questions. He dismissed me curtly. I decided to ask for one more after I finished my beer. I asked the bartender "What is the best drink you make?" He leaned over the bar and said, "How about water? Nice cool water. It's a really good drink" I was shocked and asked why. He indicated that I was severely intoxicated, which I was most definitely not. I told him so and he said, "I call them like I see them." He then scoffed, rolled his eyes, and said, "I guess you can have a beer." He poured one, literally slapped it down in front of me so that it sloshed all over and stared at me. My friend and l threw down a few bucks for the beer and walked out. I thoroughly recognize and respect a bartender's right to POLITELY let intoxicated patrons know they are no longer welcome in in an establishment. I think this is an excellent policy. But rudeness and snide remarks are not. I will not be going again and am spreading the word. read more

Great dive bar. We go in about once a month. We used to go in more. Drinks are not consistant. I have had poor service from one of the servers, the one who is always pregnant. If she is working we dont go in. Three seperate times she has made our drink wrong. Not a big deal, but when we told her about it she argues about how she is right and we are wrong. I have been drinking the same drink for years. I know how it is make. She uses flavored vodka and sour. Flavored vodka has not been around that long. I have been drinking my drink for 30 years. Get rid of her and we will come in more often. read more

Bumpys is definitely your go to bar in the city of Puyallup. There's little to nothing NOT to like about this bar. The bartenders are all familiar and friendly. In the insane fray of people you would think sometimes that they would forget about your order but they are always on top of it. The security is laid back and good at knowing when to step in or not. The food is very reasonably priced and great to taste. The portions are generous, you are certain to always get the bang for your buck. My husband and I just moved to downtown Puyallup and stumbled across bumpys one morning after dropping our kids off at school. It was 10 AM and we decided to go in thinking it would be empty, but no there were tons of super great people in there and we had such a blast, not to mention the best breakfast ever! Absolutely 5 Stars (for what it is)... Don't go to Bumpy's expecting a 5 star meal, a glass of 20 year scotch or a Cosmo. You go here for one reason and one reason only. Good, cheap, drinks. This bar usually has 10-15 locals every day of the week and can get pretty packed on the weekends. A great bar in the midst of "trendy" bars. Good stock of cold beer, stiff mixed drinks,and nice pours of wine. The prices are great too. Not too expensive unlike some bars who give you less and charge more. The food is what it is. I am usually two or three deep before our order makes it out,but hey! I came to drink. There is the tv to keep you occupied, some dart boards and a jukebox,and pull tabs...What more do you need! The mid day crowd is good working class locals and nice and laid back. Probably my favorite time of the day, after seven the crowd changes and the noise level goes up. It sometimes will be standing room only. What can I say? Good times! read more

Definitely a favorite of mine. I just turned 21 and went to another club that didnt impress me. However when I went to Bumpy's, the bartender was super nice and so were the rest of the staff. I'm so surprised by the reviews with multiple stars I've had terrible service here TWO TIMES!!! First my husband and I went in and at the bar there was a paid tab sitting on the table and the bartender refused to let us sit down because they thought the previous customers were on the back porch. 15 minutes later with no customers in sight we sat down anyway and got dirty looks and terrible service for the whole 1 drink we could tolerate while being there. Second time I brought my girlfriend from out of town to the bar after getting all gussied up. We had one drink at the forum (where we should have stayed) and went to bumpys where they refused Us service stating we were too drunk!!! Reading the other reviews I see this happens often to sober customers. The bartender was so rude to us AGAIN!!! It's honestly as if this establishment doesn't like money. I will NEVER come here again I can't believe this place and their ability to make you feel so unimportant. Worst customer service of my life and not once but twice. We watched the superbowl at Charlies and had a couple of beers then decided to go to bumpys after the game. My friends were thinking of moving to the puyallup area so I wanted to show them the area. I bragged about all of the really cool bars and restaurants in the area especially Bumpys. We walked in and tried to order a pitcher of beer only to be turned down because we appeared drunk?!? None of had enough alcohol to be drunk! I've been in there many times and watched that same bartender serve guests that were actually drunk. We were not even close to being drunk or even buzzed. I will never go to bumpys again as long as that bartender works there. I hope the owner reads this and takes action. That bar lost about $200 tonight plus future business. Very bad call by the bartender. Good thing there are several other places within walking distance that will gladly accept our money. Thanks Ryan for showing what an ass you are!! read more

This use to be a great place to go but the last couple of times my friends and I have been in there it has been horrible. The pizza has gotten very horrible even for Sunday's special and the small brunette manager is increadabley rude. Cut us off and said we were all to intoxicated to be there after they had one drink and I wasn't drinking but I was too drunk to be there...what a joke. We won't ever go back again read more
