I choose to believe that our server was so awesome that she noticed we were watching F1 race on our tiny phone and put it on TV for us!! Honestly, just for that, 5 stars in my book. They infuse their own vodkas and have a great selection of flavors, like cucumber, mango, ginger, coffee bean and even horseradish. Most recently I got a cucumber soda and it was great. Perfect for summer time. They also serve food, and while it's been a while since I've dined here, I remember the food being good. The service is also solid. My husband got the prime rib cheesesteak, I had a burger, and my friend had the lobster roll. I expected the mozzarella sticks to come out first but they came out with all of our food which was fine. The mozzarella sticks really lacked luster the breading was un flavorful and the bacon fat marinara sauce was actually not good either. The burger was maybe 4/10 they just cook the burgers well done - I was never asked how I wanted my burger. The bun ended up non existent half way through. The chips were interesting I think they must fry them in the bacon fat or a blend because the same flavor was in the marinara sauce which wasn't good. Hy husband loved his cheesesteak said it was great. My friend loved her lobster roll, she agreed with other reviews of the ratio of butter and mayo was great vs ones she has had in the past. We all didn't eat the chips. I think if they were fried in a regular oil it would've been fine or given the option of just plain fries would've been a nice substitute. It felt wasteful. We went to Nex expecting a true fine-dining experience based on how the restaurant presents itself…read more Unfortunately, it did not come close to living up to those expectations. At nearly $190 for two people, the food simply wasn't at the level the prices suggest. One of my biggest issues was the disconnect between what Nex seems to promise and what actually arrived at our table. The menu uses labels such as "Arizona Known Food" and "Tucson Local Food," which led us to believe we were going to experience an elevated interpretation of Arizona and Tucson cuisine. And Tucson has an incredible food identity. We're talking about Sonoran Mexican cuisine, carne asada, mesquite grilling, flour tortillas, chiltepin, machaca, beans, Sonoran-style dishes, and Indigenous desert ingredients such as tepary beans, squash, prickly pear and mesquite. So the concept of elevated Arizona fine dining is something we were genuinely excited about. Instead, almost everything we ordered had a very noticeable Indian-inspired flavor with extremely strong lemon aromatics. To be clear, I love Indian food. This isn't a criticism of Indian cuisine. The problem is that Nex doesn't present itself as an Indian-fusion restaurant. The menu and website lead you to believe you're getting elevated Arizona/Tucson-inspired dining. The flavor profile we experienced simply didn't match that expectation. By the end of the meal, nearly everything tasted like the same lemon-heavy, Indian-inspired seasoning. The Brussels sprouts were easily the best thing we ordered. Unfortunately, almost everything else was a disappointment. My $15 mocktail was good, but extremely small and absolutely not worth $15 for a non-alcoholic drink. Maybe, serve in a normal glass and not small cocktail glasss. The fries were drenched in a strong lemon-like flavor with a hint of Indian seasoning. The carrots were $16 and, once again, covered in the same lemon-forward sauce and seasoning. For $16, we expected considerably more. Then came the mole and honestly, this was a mortal sin. If you're going to put mole on a fine-dining menu in Tucson, it should at least resemble mole. This dish didn't resemble or taste like what we expected mole to be at all. Instead, once again, we got that same lemon-heavy flavor profile. My husband disliked it so much that we asked to change it to a burger. They made the substitution, but still left the mole on our bill, even though it essentially went straight into the trash. I ordered the $55 ribeye with mushrooms. The steak was poorly trimmed and contained a significant amount of gristle and fat. The mushrooms were, once again, covered in that same lemon/Indian-inspired seasoning. At this point, it felt like every dish was being pushed through the same flavor profile. The potatoes were another miss. They weren't really mashed, diced, or roasted--they were somewhere awkwardly in between, with a texture that just didn't work. The burger was actually better than the mole, although even it had that same seasoning profile. To be fair, our waiter was very nice, kind and pleasant. Service was somewhat slow, but he was genuinely lovely, so I don't fault him personally. Interestingly, the couple sitting next to us also appeared unhappy with their meal. They actually canceled the rest of their food after the salads, which certainly reinforced our own experience. The restaurant itself is cute, and the speakeasy in the back is a fun concept, but once again, the prices are extremely high for what you're getting. At these prices, Nex is charging as though it's a fine-dining restaurant in New York City, but the food we experienced simply didn't justify it. If you're going to position yourself around Arizona Known Food and Tucson Local Food, I want to taste Tucson. I want the Sonoran and Mexican influences and the unique ingredients and traditions that make Southern Arizona special. I want creativity built around those flavors--not the same strong lemon-and-Indian-inspired seasoning appearing on nearly every dish. Again, I love Indian food. But if I wanted Indian fusion, I would go to an Indian-fusion restaurant. That's not what we thought we were signing up for. Cute restaurant. Nice atmosphere. Friendly waiter. But seriously overpriced food, repetitive flavors, disappointing execution, and a nearly $190 bill that left us wondering what we actually paid for. And the mole? That was a mortal sin.

To top it off she was really looking forward to trying the fries as her husband is a chef. She didn't care for them and she asked me to taste one... They seem dry and powdery to me. Needless to say neither of us ate them. The atmosphere is fun. It's an old saloon. In the parking lot is pretty treacherous. I do not own a truck and there were lots of rocks and lots of dirt. I went very slow to make sure I didn't get a flat tire. I'd come back if a friend wanted me too, but I certainly won't recommend it to anybody else.
