Rare Beef Pho
Cassandra M.

It was my first time trying bun bo hue. It was very delicious and had the perfect hint of spiciness. I would order this again if I'm ever around the area. We also had the rare beef pho. It's a great option for those who are sensitive to spicy food. I just wish that the soup were a tad bit hotter (temperature wise). The service was fast and they staff were attentive. This place was cozy and quite clean. Make sure to carry cash as they only accept cash and/or e-transfer.

Decided to try this place out since our regular joint in the neighbourhood closes and hour earlier than here. Though it was take out and we drove 30min to get home, the food was good. Ordered the bun Bo be and meatball pho. Good broth on both. Will definitely come back and dine in next time. Thought I would take photos of the menu so to provide and updated one for my fellow Yelpers!

Bun Bo Hue is a hidden gem. I love that hole in the wall feel. And the set up is just like one of the Vietnamese restaurants in Vietnam. Simple menu and fast service. Of course I ordered Bun Bo Hue at Bun Bo Hue! They have the usual Pho and Bun offerings too. Love my hot fresh bowl of noodle! The broth has a well balanced flavour of savory and spiciness and that aroma of lemongrass! The toppings are authentic and plentiful! One of my favourite bowl of Bun Bo Hue in the GTA area. Cash Only.

Almost every Viet restaurant in Toronto being named is named after Pho, and Bun Bo Hue is one big exception to this trend, named after their signature dish, Bun Bo Hue. Bun Bo Hue is a rich, spicy, and savory lemongrass-based beef noodle dish from the Hue region of Vietnam. It's extremely popular among Vietnamese people in Toronto, and basically unknown to everyone else. I would highly recommend anyone that likes Pho to give it a try! I can vouch for the authenticity of Bun Bo Hue's signature dish; and its just because it is delicious and savory, and not just because the amount of meats they serve is very generous; it's also because one of the people I went with was from Northern Vietnam, and they said it tastes just like the ones they had back home. What I would give Bun Bo Hue a 5 star for is not just for their Bun Bo Hue though. It would definitely also be for their rice platters and hot sauce selection. The com tam (broken rice) dishes that they serve are perfect, and far better than the com tam I've had at any other Vietnamese restaurant in Toronto. The meat was tender, well seasoned and grilled to perfection. The egg was delicious and runny. The portioning is generous (especially with the meats) and but the amount of rice they give you is enough to actually finish all the food with. That's exceptional because most Viet places give barely enough rice at all. What I loved the most about Bun Bo Hue though is their hot sauces. Unlike basically every Vietnamese restaurant in Toronto, they have more hot sauces than just sriracha. There's actually a selection of three hot sauces available at every table, and I can't give enough compliments to their garlic chili hot sauce in particular. It was actually very spicy, and much more spicy than sriracha; I loved putting it all over my rice dish and taking every bite with the heat and savoriness of the hot sauce. It was just heavenly, and my first time eating com tam with actually good hot sauce! My experience with Bun Bo Hue was irreplacable, and I can see myself coming back many times in the future. I cannot recommend this place any more than I already do!

Still one of my favourite Vietnamese places, authentic dishes with generous portions and delicious and aesthetic garnishes We got two bowls of their signature bun bo hue with extra blood cubes, a broiled pork chop on rice and one with broiled pork chop, fried egg, shredded pork and steamed egg with pork, two pork deep fried spring rolls and two fresh shrimp rolls. Their durian smoothie is also amazing although we didn't get it this time around

More of a 3.5 rating for me. My boyfriend is a longtime big fan of this location and we happen to decide to get some bun bo hue here and we ordered a large to share. I found the broth extremely, like extremely flavourful to the point where I coughed a few times. I believe that I was not accustomed to this large amount of spice in the broth but I guess it was a nice kick??? I don't usually eat Vietnamese food outside because it's commonly eaten at home for me so this was a change for me.

Don't let this hole in the wall restaurant fool you! They have one of the best authentic Vietnamese food in the city! The interior and outside of the restaurant could use some update, but the homey-ness adds to the experience just like eating at your relative's place! They are well known for their Bun Bo Hue and that is literally why they're confidentially named Bun Bo Hue LOOOL. It is quite spicy and they give you a ton of meat! The pho and broken rich dishes are quite yummy as well and everything is about $15 or under! The service is pretty quick and you'll be in and out very quickly! Highly recommend if you're looking for a good hearty bowl of noodle soup

I came to this restaurant with high expectations because of the good words that my friends put in. I was not disappointed - this place has one of the best Bun Bo Hue that I've tried in Toronto! The broth has both essential flavour profiles - lemongrass and mam ruoc. The only thing I wish they have is banana flower. Other than that, the food is amazing. I would like to try their Pho next time!

NEW FAVOURITE: This place has the best bun bo hue out of all the restaurants I've dined at! If you come here, you got to try their bun bo hue. I mean the restaurant is called Bun Bo Hue so you have to try their bun bo hue. Also, their pho is pretty good as well! Location: The neighbourhood looks a little sketchy. Parking: The restaurant is located in a small plaza with a small parking lot. When I came in that day, they only had a few parking spots left. Price: For Vietnamese food, the price is slightly less than a lot of other Vietnamese places. Small bun bo hue is roughly $8 and their small pho was slightly cheaper at $7.50. Atmosphere: This place is owned by Vietnamese people and it feels like those stereotypical pho restaurants. Based on the restaurant decor, I didn't expect the food to be good or sanitary but I was pleasantly surprised. Cleanliness 4/5 the restaurant didn't look clean but the plates, bowls, spoons and chopsticks were clean and that's what matters! Plus the food didn't give me stomach problems! Food: 5/5 The broth for bun bo hue and pho were very flavourful. The bun bo hue broth had fermented shrimp paste and lemongrass taste in it. The meat was tender and the ingredients were fresh. The broth tasted very authentically Vietnamese. Meaning that they added all the necessary ingredients to make bun bo hue taste like bun bo hue. The noodles were perfectly cooked! I highly recommend the bun bo hue! The pho was also good. The meat in the pho was tender and the noodles were perfectly cooked as well! Service: 3/5 Minimal service. They gave me my food, complimentary tea and left. I can't say the service was good or bad except there's as little service as possible. I had to walk up to pay because they don't bring you your bill!!! My rating: I give this restaurant 5/5 because I'm basing my review on food alone. Also, it's not like the service or anything was bad and I would definitely come back for their bun bo hue! Recommend? YES!!! In my opinion (I know this is subjective), but this is the best Vietnamese restaurant in Toronto!!! Their bun bo hue is hands down the best I've ever had. Their pho is in my top 3 list of the best pho in Ontario! I highly recommend this place. Plus I'm not the only one raving about it on Yelp! Last thing, bring cash!!!!

Bun Bo Hue - Medium

I've always heard about this place from friends and family and they always say they have THE best bun bo hue in Toronto. So I just knew I i had to come and try it for myself! I came here on a Friday night around 6PM. There were maybe like 3 other groups there so jt wasn't busy at all, 6pm is pretty early for dinner after all. The restaurant definitely doesn't look great. It's pretty dingy looking, but no worries I'm all about the food. I decided to get a medium serving of Bun Bo Hue. Service was super quick and I didn't have to wait long for it to come out. It came with a healthy portion of cabbage and bean sprouts as well! On first sip it was definitely different from other bun bo hue's I've tried here in Toronto. I feel like every place does it differently. I've never tried authentic bbh in Vietnam or anything but everyone always says it's the closest thing to authentic bbh. The soup was really rich and was so good on a cold rainy day. It came with a lot of meat and was completely satisfied by the end of it. There's also some pig blood cubes in the soup but I didn't try any of it as I'm not a fan. I forgot to tell them not to put any in. Overall it was delicious and inexpensive! Only cost me around $12 after tax and tips.

Lucia J.

To keep it short, a little disappointing especially with the restaurant being called BBH. Of course, we ordered the signature BBH but as you can see in the pic it is very oily and unfortunately lacks flavor and umami. It wasn't a terrible bowl of BBH but definitely not the best I've had nor top 5. Side note the spring rolls were nice and crispy.

How do you know you just walked into an authentic Pho place? 1. Everyone who works there is speaking Vietnamese (check) 2. When you are a regular they great you like family (check) 3. Cash Only sign (check) 4. The restaurant is named after the dish they are known for or has a number in it (check) 5. You leave feeling full and completely satisfied (check) Well it seems like Bun Bo Hue checks off all the boxes. I live 40 minutes away from this place but it is worth the drive every time. They are known for their Bun Bo Hue and it is the only dish I order here so I can only speak to that dish. I've tried to find somewhere that has a better Bun Bo Hue but I cannot. If you are looking for truely amazing Bun Bo Hue or an alternative to Pho than go here!

This is what I miss most in Asia - the little mom and pop stores that specialize in one food. There's a lot of "fusion" foods in Toronto that are good, and even more that are not. I'm not against fusion food, but sometimes it's hard to find a place that just makes one of those things well and sticks to it. This place has a large variety of combination pho, bun (rice vermicelli), com (rice) and specialize in bun no hue (hence the name). My other half and I came on a Sunday night and they were consistently busy even though this pace is quite out of the way. Portions are very large. I ordered the "special" pho (combination of everything) and every bite of noodle i had a piece of meat or something else. Lots of pho places full your bowl with the noodles and give a few pieces of beef, but this place really fills your bowl with extra meat and food. Good portions, excellent price, very satisfied. Would definitely come back if in the area

The food was amazing as expected and so was the service. The service was fast and very helpful. But honestly I been going there for the last few days and one thing, a person has truly brought colour to this place. A girl so beautiful you can mistake her for a angel she looks so heavenly and sweet, I think she the real reason I go back everyday, she always there sitting in the corner in her own little world it's so adorable especially those small little smiles of hers . I seen her make drinks so she definitely a worker there, she makes that place look so lively it's truly blows me away that a girl like that exists. A girl so rich in her outfits and clearly a woman with wonderful taste in food. If I come back and she there I could eat for hours, she is so memorizing to the eye, idk how I can describe it. I recall her saying her name was Alice. Such a beautiful angel in a place so close to heaven this place is a dream,10/10 recommendation

Wine braised pho hotpot - I really enjoyed this hotpot - even more so than their typical pho. You can get unlimited soup refills too which is great. Broth is light yet flavorful. Pho - decided to try their "regular " pho which has a bit more herbal notes than their hotpot. It's not bad but I could see some of the herbal/spice undertones being off putting to some. Stret style platter - lots of good, great variety, very fresh. Loved this dish - getting to make your own customized roll is worth it. Durian crema coffee - an interesting that I've never seen. It's line a typical coffe but a large and thick layer of durian foam layer on top of the coffee. Price: A bit higher than other pho places but well worth trying

A couple of Wednesdays ago, after work, I had an early dinner at this Pho Anh Vu on Highway 7 in Vaughan, between Keele and Jane streets. I have passed by this eatery a number of times since it opened. It was time to check it out. This location used to be Veg Italiano. There used to be a pho place a few doors down. It is now a Turkish eatery. This small plaza does have some turnover. However, the Turkish place and this eatery have been here for at least a couple of years. I hope they remain. I got here at around 3:30 pm. I had no problem finding a parking spot. I backed into a vacant one and walked in. I was immediately greeted by a male staffer. I got to sit wherever I wanted. I chose a booth by the window. I got menus to peruse. There were two other tables with customers. It was nice. Hot tea came to me with two cups. The hot tea was exceptionally piping hot. I used both cups to pour tea into them and let them cool. I was ready to order. It took a long time to get a server to come over. The woman at the counter noticed that I was ready and flagged the male server to take my order. I got these items: - Soda lemonade - Grilled chicken on vermicelli with spring rolls My soda lemonade came first. It was fizzy, cold, and refreshing. I loved it so much. I would get it again in a heartbeat. It also helped me down my food as I waited for my hot tea to cool down. When my tea was finally at a temperature that wouldn't scorch my tongue, it was fragrant and yummy. I loved the grilled chicken. It was flavourful and grilled to perfection. The vermicelli was generous and yummy. The spring rolls were stuffed and crispy. This dish came with dipping sauce that I ended up pouring on everything. I feel that I needed more of it. I paid at the counter with a debit card. I tapped and was good. This eatery got busy after 4 pm. My guess is that everyone came to watch the Canada-Switzerland FIFA game. It got tense in the place. Eventually, Canada lost this game. I used the washroom before I left. It was beautiful and clean. It's a decent location that serves good food. The tea was too hot. Service started off slow, but was a lot better once my order was place. I'd love to return to try more items off the menu. (280)

We walked in and were greeted by a friendly few staff members who showed us to our table. The decor inside was modern, it was clean and the ambiance was great. As soon as we sat down we were brought hot drinks of our choice to warm us up. It took a while before we settled on our meal choices after much discussion. We have some vegetarians and some non-vegetarians in our family so it was nice to see that vegetarians could be accommodated here. All of the meals turned out to be very tasty from our appetizers to our mains. Spring Rolls** were crispy, tasty and served with a sweet-spicy sauce. These were the outstanding showstoppers of the entire meal or at least a few of us agreed that they were our favourite choice. Vegetarian Cold Rolls (small) were crunchy, refreshing and served with a peanut sauce with roasted peanuts on top. I was told that my homemade version of vegetarian cold rolls was even better than the restaurant version since I include more tofu but this restaurant version came in a close second place. Stir-fried Vegetables with Tofu and Steamed Rice was very super flavourful, as was the veggie soup broth. The main vegetarian dish had a bit of kick to it, lots of black pepper, and a tangy spicy taste which was almost too spicy for one family member's simple palate. Nothing a bowl full of rice couldn't fix. What would make it a 5 star rating would be if they had included a bit more tofu, otherwise it was a very good dish. Grilled Pork Chop with Rice was wonderfully delicious. The veggies made the dish eye catching. The flavour packed broth was delightful. It was served with a drizzle of oil of green onions which when combined with freshly steamed rice make the perfect trifecta. Stir-Fry Rice Noodles with Seafood (which had squid, fish balls, shrimp and possibly scallops) was very well received by one hungry man. He didn't mind that the vegetarians had more veggies on their plates than him. Stir-Fry Rice Noodles* with Vegetables had a great colourful presentation and tasted very good, according to another. Once again their only other comment about the dish was that they wished there was more tofu in it. What would make it a 5 star rating would be if they had included a bit more tofu, otherwise it was also a good dish. The staff were more than accommodating to the requests of grandparents who needed to relocate tables to stay warm during this cold winter season. My family very much appreciated our visit to this restaurant. Fantastic hospitality. Great service and friendly personable staff.

While the meat on the ribs are a bit more skimp than other places I've had maybe because it's whatever they have left. But I didn't mind since they added ample amount of tendon! You either love it or hate it, but I love tendon and we ordered this specifically because they mentioned they will add a bone of tendon. Not sure if it's in all bowls or just what they had left. It was certainly worth the money with the offer. While we picked and cut away all the tender tendon pieces, there are some connective tendon pieces that are still bit stiff, I mean I try to pressure cook it bit more later along with my ingredients when I got home to get the adjoining tendons between the bones and made another collagen rich soup / broth. We also ordered a broken rice dish with chicken and it was good too. We had a lot of leftovers and the next day the soup broth did thicken up indicating a good amount of bone broth. Overall service was great and they even had the FIFA game playing on the screen. Definitely a spot we'll add to our rotation.
