I ordered the New Jersey Italian Sausage, it was only $6.99 which is a really good price point for a food truck. The menu says it comes with charred jalapeños, the jalapeños were practically non existent. I could count maybe 2 entire slices. I love jalapeños, I was hoping it would be loaded with them like in the picture on their menu. Despite this I still really enjoyed the sausage, everything was cooked perfectly and the dogs are very flavorful. Definitely worth giving this place a try. read more

Everything about this was so good. I can't even find words. I was feeling overwhelmed and so cold already. The menu was easy to read. The environment was warm and friendly. The service was outstanding. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. 5 minute walk from work 10/10 will be back without a doubt. Best Philly cheesesteaks and Chicago dog we've had. 3.5 stars Twas hungry so I grabbed a quick and easy snack from this food cart which was conveniently located near our hotel. Everything from Buns On The Run is relatively cheap. For around $10 bucks, I got a Philly cheesesteak. The Philly cheesesteak comes with steak, grilled onions, bell peppers, jalapeños with melted Swiss cheese on a toasted pioneer roll. Was this the best version of this sandwich I've ever had? Definitely not, though I do suspect it had something to do with the toasted pioneer roll and lacked the girth of other Philly cheesesteaks. Despite all these minor quips, I did appreciate the addition of the jalapeños because it packed some heat into each bite. Well Downtown Portland is still in the process of recovery, so many of the renown food pods cease to exist anymore. Buns on the Run isn here for your sandwich needs. read more

Place has potential and can definitely improve their rating with a few things. Hot dog is a large one (same size as Costco's). It's split open and grilled to have more flavor. Comes with grilled onions and jalapenos. There are several sauces there, mustard, ketchup, mayo. So not that hard to find a condiment to put on. So why only 3 stars? For $5 I felt like there could be more condiments offered like raw onions, sauerkraut etc Also, they charged 50 cents for using a credit card without disclosing it. This rating is based off an Uber eats order I placed. I was super excited to order from here after I noticed they had veggie options for burgers, sandwiches, and even hot dogs. After checking yelp for photos I was even more excited and ready for my food to arrive. Sadly, what showed up was nothing like what I assumed would be arriving after looking at photos. The veggie cheesesteak had hardly any toppings, and the bread was dry and unappetizing. The flavor could have been good if only there were some actual toppings in there. The "cheesy" fries were so gross looking I couldn't even bring myself to eat them, and cheesy they were not. I know things can get messed up in a rush but this was just a mess of a meal. Perhaps eating right at the cart would make for a better option but unfortunately i'm so off put by this meal that I doubt I'd give it another chance. read more

As someone who only eats halal, I LOVE this place! The Philly cheese steak was one of the best halal steaks I have ever had. The bun was soft, the meat and cheese were great quality and the service my entire group received was incredible considering this place isn't a traditional storefront. We enjoyed our experience so much that we came back two days in a row and ordered multiple steaks-even one for the plane ride home and it was just as amazing cold as it is warm. My friend and I cannot wait to go back to Portland just to eat here again. Thank you so much Buns on the Run for making our Portland trip even more amazing than it already was! Ordered Postmates from here and it was A-OK. I liked that my order came fresh (which is way more challenging than you'd think when ordering fries based on my delivery service experiences), was correct, and that everything was packed neatly. The curly fries were crispy, but had an odd aftertaste of cooking oil and were too greasy. The fries were okay and the cheese sauce (came on them for free) also had an odd aftertaste. I absolutely love cheese, but I wish I specified no cheese; that's honestly a first for me! While the fries were lackluster, the dogs here are pretty tasty. The chili cheese dog was pretty good. The chili would have been better with some heat or extra seasoning, but the hot dog itself was grilled perfectly and had a wonderful smoky char to it. I'd recommend the Seattle dog, as they there was a thick spread of cream cheese (yum!) and the jalepenos were cooked down enough to get soft (but not mushy) and enough to get rid of that 'bite' with raw/undercooked jalapenos. While Buns On The Run wasn't the best, I still had an A-OK meal from here. The servings were huge, the price is reasonable, everything tasted fresh, and the hot dog itself was very flavorful and cooked nicely. read more

Buns On The Run was actually good before. I did enjoy their Philly cheesesteaks, and even ordered it via Postmates when I was needing my fix. However, the quality suddenly changed for the worst. The cheesesteak was less substantial, and is much blander than the last time I went there. Their cheese fries are chunkier, and seem a lot oilier now, which makes them unappetizing. My friend ordered a burger, and I was shocked to see how different it looked compared to the previous time they got it. The burger meat was very crumbly, and the cook didn't leave out the onions. He couldn't even pick out the onion bits, since the burger basically ripped apart as he tried to pull open the bun. The last time he ordered a burger he didn't have to worry about the mistake to the order, and it was much more substantial. This burger was sad. I can't help but wonder if they decided to change things up. Sadly this made it into an unappetizing experience. I'll start looking elsewhere for cheesesteaks. Hands down the BEST Philly CheeseSteak I've ever had, and the gentleman that served us on 2/29/20 (approximately 7:45 pm) was AMAZING. He saw that I was cold and went out of his way to move his portable heater out so I could stand near it. He was very friendly and gave us honest truck recommendations which I really appreciated. This food cart has many different types of food on it's s menu (mostly sandwiches) The menu is large and is easily readable, and the service is pretty good, but the food takes awhile to make and I don't think it's worth it to wait that long, but it's only with some employees, there is always a different employee, each different with their service. I got the 'Philly Cheesesteak' it was pretty good, but a bit too small and could use a bigger "bun", the steak tasted pretty good and the cheese was also good. Do I recommend this, for tourists (or new 'portlanders') I wouldn't recommend there's probably something better, but if you want food without looking through other food carts, and just something cheaper that is good, I would recommend this food cart. read more

Before placing an order for delivery, we called them to confirm they were open at 2:30 am (Yelp indicated it was open on its website but we knew it was late). This restaurant said they were open. Well specifically, a woman said she had to ask her husband and she asked her husband "Are you open?" And he responded that yes, he was open. They said to use a third party service such as Uber Eats, so we did. Long story short, they pushed back the delivery time from the original 3:30 am to 4 am. (About an hour and a half after our call to them). Then they refused to answer our calls when we wanted to see what was going on and why our delivery time got pushed back so late. They never answered-- in fact, they forwarded our calls to voicemail multiple times. It was a pain in the ass canceling with Uber Eats. Currently, it is 3:55 am and the app still says its being prepared! The order was placed at 2:40 am! Thankfully, after Uber tried to call the restaurant multiple times to see what was going on and the restaurant never answered, Uber eats cancelled the order without charging us. read more
