Stopped by for a speedy lunch at Bunz near work. I went pretty early and there was no one else when I dined in. I was seated right away and my order was taken. Our server Kevin was awesome and attentive. I got the z bunz lettuce wrapped and it was very good. The lettuce they use to wrap it was large and made eating it easy. The meat was well seasoned and the sauce that came on it was really good. The dining area floor was kind of sticky. The music was way too loud and made having a conversation difficult without raising your voice. All in all I liked my meal but there's a few details that need ironing out. I'd definitely be open to coming by again.

I liked it! Taste was really good, love the fact that they have gluten free options, service was great, the place was clean and organized. Definitely, I'd come back!

Absolutely HUGE burgers! Greasy, cheesy, massive burgers. The Z sauce is delicious and the pickles are thick cut and so good. Burgers are good if you're in the mood for a big, greasy burger! The fries are this weird, thick cut. Some were really good. Some were cold by the time I got home. Drive thru was frustrating when ordering. Guy could not understand what I was saying or what the car in front of me was saying. Going in is probably better, but I had the dogs with me.

Super hearty burgers. You order at the counter and they will bring it out to you. You can choose the cook on your burger ,so their standard comes a little pink.I got the mush bunz and it felt like two patties because of the portobello. The bunz are worth the hype.I'd like to come back for breakfast.

I was pleasantly surprised of how good everything was here. The service was excellent. They guys even brought out our food. I had the beach Bunz burger and a side of fries. The burger was big. It had good flavor. The fries were delicious. I loved the buns on the burger. They were toasted. We did share onion rings. They weren't my favorite. The breading was too thick for my liking. My friends had the zbuns and bunzilla. They both loved their burgers too. It did surprise me that this a fast food place. I wouldn't have expected it to be. They have a drive through. I definitely will return.

The Bunzai! Asian shredded pork on a burger, worth your while.

This newly opened location for the Bunz Handcrafted Burger restaurant chain is, in a word, excellent. They're still getting over a few teething problems with the register (it took a bit of plastic-wrangling to accept my card) but otherwise they're running smoothly! Ordered the regular Z Bunz (regular 7oz hamburger with toppings and cheese) and the Bunzai, which is the burger topped with chipotle mayo and shreds of BBQ Asian Pork Ribs. Both hamburgers were primo: done medium (a little pink at the center), great beefy flavor, the pork rib bits were delish. Of special note is that the buns are super fresh and were toasted perfectly to give a little 'crunch' to each bite. And don't get me started on the fries...wow, these little curvy things were half-chip, half steak fry, which is amazing in my book! Definitely coming back, highly recommended. This place scores a 5 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK having a nosh here with Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus' Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. Wouldn't have my last supper here. 1 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Nobody good. I wouldn't have my penultimate supper here, either.

I went to Bunz for the first time on a recommendation from another friend who manages their own restaurant. When i went in i was unsure what to order. The young lady at the front was very professional and kind. She took the time to recommend what she felt would be good for my first time. I took her advice and got the Ocean Bunz which was her favorite. The ocean Bunz was amazing it has a perfect balance of flavor. The french fries were also delicious. The other young lady on the floor was very polite checking on me to make sure i had everything i needed. The atmosphere was very relaxed and comfortable. The tables were clean and well stocked. The food came out quickly and was served with a smile.

I only tried Bunz new location on 1604 because they sent me a buy one get one free sandwich email. I wasn't a big fan of the food at the location downtown and I decided to give Bunz another chance. I regretted that decision. The customer service was lacking because it took twenty seven minutes to get my food. The manager did give me free drink to make up for the long wait. The food was lacking flavor in my opinion. They need to season the meat better. Both the burger and the chicken sandwich were just okay at best. They charge too much for the quality of food you get. The fries were good and I do think that they are uniquely shaped. I gave them two opportunities to impress me and they just can't. I can't in good faith recommend Bunz to anyone who is looking for a delicious burger. I'm not going back because I'd rather spend my money elsewhere.

I decided to stop on a whim, I see it but never thought to check it out. Ummmm, I'm slapping myself because my burger was sooooo dang good!! I was pleasantly surprised!! I ordered a kids cheezebunz all the way and subbed the arugula for lettuce. The best deal ever for $9.99 plus tax because the burger was huge and the fries are different but delicious. You also don't get a mini drink, a small drink. You better believe I'll be back!!!

The food is really good but the service takes quite some time. They have a drive thru but certain items aren't available through drive through. The inside has many tables to sit at and has the vibe of upscale diner. Have been multiple times and food is consistently made.

Holy crap. Why is this place not packed??? When I say I wolfed down my Mercedes Bunz & Bombardier fries I mean WOLFED. It was incredible. The burger was perfectly cooked and it had the perfect amount of each of the toppings so as to not overwhelm the flavors. The bombardier fries... who sold their soul to make those so damn good. The melted goat cheese, the crispy bacon, wedge style chip fries.... We are still sitting at the table after finishing eating and already planning the next time we are coming. Not only was if delicious but so affordable. In total (before tip & tax) our 2 burgers, fries, tea, and a beer total led to $26.92. The service was kind and welcoming and the burgers came out quickly. The place was clean and kinda retro with a variety of seating styles. The overall ambiance was light, friendly, young, and homey. Thoroughly impressed. Get your bunz down to bunz IMMEDIATELY.

Last minute stop, and I'm glad we did, it was a great burger, they bake the buns everyday, beef is never frozen, the fries were perfect, crisp on the outside and soft inside, everything was fresh...great vibe and playlist, the staff was on point too...totally recommend this place

Bombardier fries

Bunz has great burgers, especially the bunzai burger. This burger is topped with Asian BBQ pork ribs that are tender and flavorful. When I was at Bunz they were baking their brioche bunz so it smelled like fresh baked goods. The bombardier fries were interesting. They were loaded with sour cream, goat cheese, parmesan, green onion, bacon, and cilantro. The sour cream on the fries was a bit overwhelming to me but the fries were good regardless.

Loaded fries are amazing

FIRST TIME VISIT!…read more Woohoo! Been looking for chili cheese fries and happened upon a review for this place boasting fries with a homemade chili so we HAD TO stop in tonight. THE LOCATION: on the very end of a string of businesses in a strip mall that I've never been in before, so that was cool. Lots of parking, that'll never be an issue. And right off the 410. THE MENU: Burgers, dogs, Mexi-style munchies and a variety of frozen dessert-type items like shakes, frozen fruit concoctions and Italian ice. THE STAFF: I wasn't overwhelmed with a warm welcome and smiles, at least from the guys. Lol! They should really work on that. There was a sweet gal who ran out our food orders and she was great. THE FOOD: I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich deluxe with tots and a sweet tea. The grilled chicken was juicy and cooked well and the bun was lovely, slightly sweet and toasted. Overall, the sandwich could've used more flavor, like a creamy bbq spread and cheddar instead of the "Swiss" cheese that tasted more like American cheese. But overall, 7/10. The tots were extra crispy and the guy who took my order didn't take heed to my request for ranch. I was too lazy to get up again so I settled for ketchup. The sweet tea was nicely sweet and fresh, I'll be sipping this in my dreams. The hubby ordered the bacon cheeseburger with chili cheese fries and an Oreo cookie shake. The burger looked good and he ate it quick, so there's that. This guy can EAT so it surprised us both when he slowed down fast after eating that burger. Lol! He kept saying how filling it was, but then he also killed a large shake before the food arrived, so there's that. He ate most of his chili cheese fries, leaving me a few bites to sample. Not bad. I order a Coco Haven frozen dessert to go and omg is this thing delightful! Vanilla ice cream and coconut Italian ice (?) with a blue snow cone-like syrup drizzled throughout. I loved the texture of what I believed to be Italian ice. Smooth and flaky, a perfect icy dessert. OVERALL: decent eatery, the hubby said we can go back (LOL!) Shockerrrrr! But I recommend the staff tries harder to make customers feel welcomed and comfortable. The next visit will be telling.

But they do lettuce wrapped, still not the same though. The service is always great since I have the extra modifications. Yeah, okay, it's convenient, but by the time you pay to park (minimum of four hours, which pissed me off) and then have your tiny, overpriced burger...you gonna be mad. Do yourself a favor and fight for street parking. I walked up to the outside counter Saturday night about 7:20. Never been here. The ladies behind the counter obviously could NOT have cared less. No nice welcome...no pleasantries. Nothing said. I spoke first, asking about seating availability inside (it was chilly), and they were rude - looked at me like I was from outer space and said they didn't know. They said they didn't know in that "yeah, good luck with that...it's Saturday at 7, dumbass" kinda way. How could you not know? And if you truly didn't know, which one of them should have gone to check for me. So I went and checked myself. Turns out: plenty of seating. Returned to the chilly duo and placed my order. Ordered the Wake and Bacon burger. I also ordered a Topo Chico, which was also met with a blank "are you from this planet?" stare. How do you not have Topo Chico or something similar !? The burger was just okay. Tiny, but tasty. Fries were so salty and over-seasoned as to be almost inedible. No one checked on me after bringing me my burger. Not one time. The only reason I gave the third star: neat, dog friendly outside area which would be cool for a group outing. Probably not going back.

Update to first review below, rating updated from a 3 to a 5 star (drinks & bartender would get 10+…read morestars if we could rate that high): Saturday night: Went back for after dinner drinks at the Downstairs (a "speakeasy" throwback, look up the history of the place to see why). Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding. Rob was the bartender last night who did such a great job, and his work was even better tonight. We highly recommend The EsquireTavern for excellent cocktails. We love the long wood bar and high copper ceiling upstairs, but love the intimate speakeasy atmosphere downstairs even more. We'll definitely be back every time we're in San Antonio! First review, Friday night: Drinks were great (Manhattan and Bourbon Old Fashioned). REAL drinks, no complaints at all about those. And the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Those aspects of the Esquire get 5+ stars from us. But the appetizers were not good, close to inedible. It was about 8:30pm or so, so maybe they were getting ready to close out the kitchen but the chalupitas with chicken tasted like rubber, and no flavor at all. The seafood platter had something in it that was breading with shell inside, but no meat of any kind. We couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The shrimp was good and the fish was good but those other things... We'll always love the drinks, the long wooden bar, and the ambiance at the Esquire Tavern, but we'll eat somewhere else and come here for before or after dinner drinks. (See update above to this review for when we returned the next night for after dinner drinks.)

It's been a few years since I've been by; so, I was truly looking forward to getting something. I chose The Brat & tots (plain). I was very happy with my choice. The gentleman greeted me immediately. I thought it would take me a minute, but, as I stated, I chose The Brat immediately. I'm a little high strung from my age, so people kinda chuckle. It's cute. I make me smile. They put the perfect amount of mustard on it too! See the photos, but it comes covered with cabbage & crispy fried onions. It is amazing. I was able to get a whole 1/3 of it eaten before my body shut down. Tot wise, they were hot & perfectly fried! I like to dip mine in ketchup, but they offer you various other dips as well. So, I got ranch cuz, um, of course. Also, I really like their soda brand. I can't remember it, but it's a dia de los muertos skull for the logo, but I love their roots beer, which was my beverage of choice today. My partner and I went on a Sunday morning just after 11am and there were already people coming in to eat. It's popular for a reason! I've eaten here a few times and had a very consistently good time, but this review will be about my most recent visit. We visited on a rainy day, but luckily we were able to snag one of the inside tables, we ordered at the counter and our orders arrived very quickly. I got the Ratchet dog which is a beef dog with queso, hot Cheetos and fried jalapeños. Dogfather uses quality dogs and buns for all of their gourmet dogs. I found the Ratchet to be meaty, salty with just right amount of spice from the jalapeños. My partner got the Pop it like it's hot, but removed the jalapeños. This was good but lacking a bit of flavor, however she and I both agreed that was on her for taking the jalapeños off the dog. Both dogs were extremely tasty, and we devoured both. I also got an order of curly fries loaded with their chili and cheese. For me, these did not have to go as HARD as they did. The chili they are using at Dogfather is seriously good, with a slight tang and a good amount of spice. It thrills but does not take away from your meal with too much heat. Very tasty. My only feedback is that Dogfather needs a larger space! There's a good size outside seating area, but for times like today when it's raining people need some coverage. They're doing it right and the crowds want to come! As I have stated this is a local favorite. If you live nearby, make it a regular spot. If you live in San Antonio, do yourself a favor and make a trip over at least sometimes. If you like hot dogs you won't go wrong.

The food came out quickly, and the burger was fantastic--but the true STAR OF THE SHOW was the bread. Think Hawaiian rolls, but softer, fluffier, and sized for a burger. These burgers were no joke: meat, cheese, grilled onions, and a secret sauce--and honestly, they didn't need anything else. The grilled onions and sauce were the perfect compliment, and you could taste every flavor in each bite. The drinks came in cans. I didn't notice a fountain setup, so that might be why.
