We were in the area, reviews and ratings looked good, so we tried it for lunch. The restaurant is hidden away in a strip mall that is mostly businesses. It is small, but quaint. It was not busy at all at 2:30ish on a Wednesday. We were greeted and seated right away. There was no wait to order drinks or food. The wait for food arrival was acceptable. The wait staff were all very friendly, accommodating and professional. The bolognese sauce was good, but not great. A spice was used that made the sauce taste bitter. The meatballs were good. The pizza was also good. The crust was on the crisp side, but not too crispy. I got extra cheese, pepperoni and 1/2 green olives. I didn't taste much sauce, so probably didn't need extra cheese. However, this time some lady came up and told me and others guests we couldn't sit next to each other, small ass table right in the middle of working path. She was a BITCH, there was no one there, I left and sat outside cause she didn't have the balls to admit she was wrong. The, she proceeded to insult and demand that the seniors sitting next to me, to move!! THERE WAS NO ONE IN THERE!!!!!! YET!! My uncle finished in an hour and still plenty of space.. Fantastic pizza!! Loved the Carbonara, amazing! The limoncello cake was so good, served alongside a shot of limoncello, what's not to love?!!! The service was so personable, the chef (family owned and operated) came out to talk to us and suggested the Carbonara and the limoncello cake, so happy I took his suggestions! My friend got the eggplant rollatini, she loved it, not drowned in sauce (which was incredible) she could actually taste the eggplant! I chose this place because it was relatively close to my hotel and had 4.5 *. Unfortunately, it did not live up to its rating. When I arrived the restaurant was very busy, but three tables were open, but waiting to be cleaned. No one greeted me, so I went up to the counter where two waitresses were standing. I asked if I needed a reservation, and they said they would clean a table in a few minutes. I waited at one of the dirty tables for about 10 minutes before they cleaned a table and asked me to move to it. I kept faith that the scratch made food would make up for it... Then my waitress took my order. There were no nice wines, just one crappy nondescript Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio or Sav Blac for whites... I went with Pinot Grigio, and it wasn't great. I had the Caprese Salad, and it wanted anything special at all... mozzarella not that great.. nor tomatoes, nor balsamic (in fact I've bought better at grocery store). That was followed by chicken Marsala with asparagus. The Marsala sauce was lumpy and overly tart whole chicken was overly coated. I've had better at an Italian chain. Asparagus was meh. Another waitress noticed I had never been brought bread and brought it to me as I started the Chicken Marsala. The bread was super. It was the tastiest part of my meal. So delicious that I totally over-ate here and put on 7lbs over dinner. Starting with the bread which I slathered with butter and parmasean . Sooooo good. Ravioli with pesto and chicken was handmade and out of the world. The lamb was a little overdone but the balsamic glaze with the sauce was so balanced. I almost licked the plate off. No doubt, this is one of hidden gem of Fort Myers! It is located inside an office park across the street from Edison College or now Florida South West College. Unless you have a GPS, you will not able to locate it easily. Watch out for the sign Buon Appetito Café on the lawn along Presidential Court-first street on the right when you turn onto Whiskey Creek Drive off College Parkway. Hard to find but definitely worth it. The seating is limited (10-12 tables) but the ambience is uniquely Italian. Three of us came for dinner. Immediately after we were seated, a basket of Italian bread, and bruschetta, meat/cheese and olive were presented to each one of us. A nice touch! We order a Sausage Pizza for appetizer. The sausages were sliced just like the way I wanted. The crust is thin and pizza steaming hot. Great! The Veal Osso Bucco is prepared to perfection over penne pasta. The veal is fall-off-the-bone tender and went down smoothly with a full body glass of Merlot. The Penne a la Vodka is nicely done and the sauce is not too heavy. Chicken Parmesan is cooked right. A plate of grilled vegetables with mushroom, pepper, onion, carrot and others is tasty and bring out its natural flavor. My eyes were focus on the chocolate cannoli for dessert. I used to go here often when I worked around the corner. This place has changed hands a few times but it has rarely if ever disappointed. This is definitely a classic NY style Italian place with a lot of variety and good quality dishes to offer. To this day, The Stromboli is the best I've ever had. The owners are from Long Island NY so be prepared for a traditional NY bantering. So dont be afraid to ask for something YOUR WAY... The 16 inch pizza will serve a group of 4 hungry eaters...baked on pizza stones, the crust is really crisp. You wont get that soggy crust here. The 10" personal pizza is good for 2 people... its more like a 12 " pizza. If you want the best Italian Wedding cake or Italian Rum cake, you must try Buon Appetitos's. They bring it in from NJ and since I have been back in Florida, I can honestly say I havent found a place until now that serves a real Italian Rum Cake... I can go just for the desert. Price wise you cant get any better. Lunch specials and menu items cost from $5 to $10 with large portions. Maybe you should split a sandwich and get the Rum cake... or the home made, filled to order, chocolate dipped cannolli! The first time I went to this little Cafe I walked up to the door for breakfast around 8:30 and the door was locked... saw the sign said they dont open until 9 am... as I turned around to go back to my car the door opened and I was greeted with a smile..and a warm welcome..."Your here and I'm here, that means were open". Based on the Yelps, we've been wanting to come here for some time. We came mid-morning on a Saturday in April and started with two espressos, & then shared a pizza & a Caesar salad, finished off nicely with a chocolate cannoli for dessert. Everything was delicious. This is by far the best Italian Food in Fort Myers!! Small quaint and off the beaten path. We had Mussels to start which were delicious and dipping the Italian bread in the sauce yum! Next I had the Eggplant Parmesan which was so good, thin slices of eggplant lightly battered and lightly fried it was fabulous. My mom had the eggplant rollatini which again was thin slices eggplant and stuffed with ricotta and mozzarella cheese. This was excellent also! The prices are very responsible and the portions were big. We took half our entree home. For desert we shared the Cannoli with was authentic and very good! Buon Appetito is hidden gem in an obscure office park location. Containing only about 10 tables, with hand painted murals of Italy all over the walls, service is intimate. The kitchen is in full view. All dishes I've had have been freshly prepared by a skilled cook. The owner is friendly and seems to always be there. Service is friendly and accommodating, easily granting requests to move tables etc. I have had the veal several times cooked in a variety of ways. Homemade meatballs and Italian sausage are available as a side for a price so low I won't mention it, and they are outstanding! Same goes for a side salad or Ceasar salad. The lobster bisque is also scratch made as is the Italian Wedding Soup. Our most recent group of 6 picky retires, all went home happy! I can't say enough good things about this hidden gem. Unfortunately we went to this place this new years eve, as it was a recommendation of the couple we went with. Their idea of great italian food is a very bad idea. A small rather dirty place hidden in a corporate court. There was a large party there who took all but our table. The bread was about the only good thing we ate. Veal Parm (2 pieces of paper thin veal overly breaded was terrible. I sent mine back. The toasted ravioli was also a big mistake. Thick dough with cheese. The server was a bit of a scatter brain, but she did finally tell me that they were taking my meal off the bill. My wife who never says anything bad thought her meal as ok??? Very difficult to review this place. We went today for the first time. There's a dinner menu, sandwiches, pizza. If you don't want a sandwich or pizza you're going to spend 17 to 20 for an entrée. There is no lunch menu. My mom ordered a sandwich just because of the prices. I ordered an entrée. For $17 I got a piece of chicken parm and a very small portion of pasta. I have to say that the sauce was very good. The chicken was nicely done. The pasta was perfectly al dente. What I didn't like was it does not come with any side, When you order an entrée you can choose between pasta or a salad, and apparently you don't get bread. My mom asked about bread and he said because some people don't eat it they don't give it unless you ask. How would we know to ask? He did say they are going to do some gluten free bread because so many people have that issue. Wait what? Why would you go through all that when you aren't giving bread out? Are you talking about sandwiches? In my huge family there are 3 people who THINK they are gluten intolerant. Never been tested though. We were the only ones there and the service was just lacking.
