We went for brunch on Sunday and the food was very good! We got a heirloom tomato salad, it needed a bit of salt but otherwise delicious! Also got the Chesapeake Benedict and fried chicken and waffles. The syrup for the waffles was pretty spicy. Ambiance was nice and comforting. The Glen Rock Mill Inn is a quaint restaurant with lots of history. Their menu is somewhat limited. They offer a five-course dining option or a la carte items. The crab and lobster bisque was very good but would benefit from more crab. The rack of lamb was excellent, as were the Coca Cola braised short rib and the filet mignon. However, the burger was not a hit. At 1/2 pound it was just too big and the bbq-tomato jam was overpowering. The cheese plate and the triple chocolate mousse were delicious and great portions for dessert. Drinks overall were just OK. This is the fifth time I've come to this restaurant, everytime I have been impressed. I had the venison rack, it was cooked perfectly and I loved the mustard sauce that accompanied it. My wife had the duck with the pomegranate sauce and she really enjoyed hers as well. One of the main things that impresses me is that the chef does a fantastic job of pairing the sauces and sides with the main dish. Well was hoping for a better experience than what we had. Arrived for lunch and found the inside very nice. Tables were a little small for a party of four. The waiter was super nice and was willing to help anyway he can. Then came the food. We ordered a bowl of clam chowder soup ($18.00). Very interesting way to serve the soup by putting the dry items and the clams in a bowl and then pour the liquid over the items in the bowl. Would have been nice to have a spoon when the soup was delivered. By the time I received the spoon the soup was luke warm. The soup had a great flavor, but there was not very much for the price. There were only 4 clams in the soup. A burger that was ordered was to be cooked medium. It arrived well done on the outside and raw/rare in the middle. It was returned and removed from the check. The other two shared a shared and artichoke/ spinach dip that tasted good and also a dinner salad. All in all not a great experience. read more

As we entered the front door you could feel the rustiness of this restaurant. It wasn't in a bad way. Our service from several of the wait staff was excellent. For us Glen Rock is about a hours drive. It was worth the trip. You can choose to get three courses for $79.00. I start3ed with the beef tartare. Made with chopped filet mignon inserted into a Duck Fat Fried Potato Rosti. I can tell you I immensely enjoyed every morsel. My next selection was the pan-seared duck breast. Perfectly cooked to a medium rare, The Pomegranate Demi-Glace enhanced this dish. The bread pudding made with pretzel dough was interesting. For me it required a little more sauce as well as spices, i.e. cinnamon, brown sugar rum etc. read more

We went for their Thanksgiving Buffet 2025. For the $$$, it was ok at best. Our waitress looked like she had a really rough shift and her attentiveness to her tables were suffering. We were the 6pm seating, the food was good, and the choices fitting for the holiday, but some items were cold on the hot buffet. I guess for their reputation I was expecting a WOW factor and never really got it. With that said, the place is beautiful and the ambiance is wonderful. We chose Table 1837 after our friends were there 2 weeks prior with a good experience. Unfortunately, ours was far from the same. The hostess seated us at a perfect table for outdoor dining and that was the best part of our evening. Our waitress seemed like she was going to be great with the first introduction but fell flat on attentiveness and service throughout the entire service. Although my husband only did it once, he actually went in to find her. He was tempted to do it other times. When she did come back out she explained that she was "putting out a fire" which we knew would be occurring as there was another table that was not tended to at all after being seated and they went into the restaurant and then never returned. We respect that the new menu was revealed on our day of dining. From our apps, soups, entrees, nothing was outstanding and either overloaded with salt. The short rib had such a large visible piece of fat (at least 2") that it never should have been plated that way. The chef did come out to introduce himself after the apps and we communicated with him. He was a perfectly fine gentleman and represented Table 1837 well. read more

I have loved this place for decades. I have even gotten my parents a gift card for Christmas. Today royally pissed me off. We were not ok because I was sitting far from my husband (with my high end martini) and we were talking about the USA team winning. They were singing ' Courtesy of the Red White & Blue'. Went to Table 1836 at the Glen Rock Mill Inn for the first time for our wedding anniversary. The food, service, and atmosphere was fabulous. The staff really went above and beyond. Had the special (21 day rib eye) and my wife had the filet mignon. Easily the best steak we've had in south central PA. The starters were delicious and the cheese cake was top notch. If you're looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion or just want a nice, more upscale meal, the chef and the staff at Table 1837 will not disappoint. read more

i'm really shocked that the overall reviews for this restaurant have a total rating of 3.8. I looked and a lot of the negative reviews were many years ago, starting at six years and older. We just happen upon this place as of the end of last year for my mom's birthday and I have been back since at least four times. My brother took his wife for a date night. I plan on taking more family members there. With the exception of last night, where our food took quite a while to come out because they were hosting a large party in the back room, our food and our drinks usually come quickly. I get the Hugo spritz cocktail and it's delicious every single time. My mom has gotten a salted caramel, which is similar to a white Russian, and she loved it. She said they have the best cheeseburger she has ever had. I personally am in love with the veggie kale Caesar salad salad. it's not really a Caesar at all, it's got vegetables and kale and brussels sprouts, the latter of two I don't even really like. But I dream about the salad. There are lots of places around here to eat, some obviously much better than others, but if you're looking for an upscale dining experience within this 30 minute radius, it's totally worth it. I can't wait to try their brunch or their tea. i'm sure we will go back for some sort of family celebration. And I have no problems if I just happen to be by myself bellying up to the bar and ordering whatever I want to order and eating it there. It's delicious. read more

Celebrated my wife's birthday at Glen Rock Mill Inn - Table1837. The service could not have been better and we enjoyed the Al Fresco dining atmosphere. The food was outstanding: the lobster /lobster app was exceptional and the Tuna Tartar was nearly as good! We followed the apps with the Steak Fri and a salad. We went here for our valentines dinner and everything was great, from our server to the abundance of food you got for $80 a person! I highly recommend the strawberry margarita- yum! Best bisque I've had in awhile, plus the presentation was like no other! Loved being sat right by the bar & fireplace & next to a window just sets the mood. We went for a Sunday Brunch and our reservations were at 1:00 PM. Not much left as far as food and when we went for dessert there was nothing left. Complained to the in charge person and he brought one crème brûlée and one strawberry shortcake for a table of 4. Sent management an email and was told we would be reimbursed for our bad experience. After 1 month we still have not received our refund nor has our friend been reimbursed on her card. Poor customer on managements part. The Glen Rock Mill Inn is a great spot for dinner or lunch on the weekends. Immediately adjacent to the York County Heritage Rail Trail, I prefer to go in for lunch and eat at the bar or sit on the heated patio. Brandon always has a great selection of micros, typically not found in the immediate York area. Staff is always friendly and attentive. The tuna is always awesome as well as the huge burgers. I love the home made pickles and pickled veggies. I like to try the daily specials and always look forward to adding a new beer to my untapped list. About $20 a person for lunch. It may be x2 the cost of McDonalds but it's x200 the quality and x2 the portion. I have never stayed at the bnb since I live a few miles away. Stop and support this awesome local business! read more

Grilled cheese with fancy cheese. Chicken strips and fries. The pasta seafood was full of lobster claw, scallops, and shrimp. Sauce was flavorful. Ahi tuna on rice was basic with hot horseradish sauce. Needed something more. The star here was the building, indoor stream and the history. Service was personal and sincere. Steeped in nearly 200 years of history, the Glen Rock Mill Inn is a beautifully restored water-powered sawmill turned upscale restaurant. My wife and I decided to try their Diner's choice option, which included a starter, entree, and dessert for a fixed price. For appetizers, we ordered the Korean BBQ'd Pork Belly and Arancini. The pork belly, with its 5-spice-sugar rub and bulgogi-style glaze, was perfectly prepared. The Arancini, tender slow-cooked arborio rice wrapped around chorizo sausage and fresh mozzarella, was delicious, but we found the crust to be a tad too crunchy. Our entrees consisted of Jumbo Scallops with Lobster Risotto and Crab Croquettes on a corn chowder. The pan-seared U-10 sea scallops were a delight, perched over a rich North Atlantic lobster risotto and drizzled with basil pesto. My wife enjoyed the interesting twist on the traditional crab cake, though she's not sure she would try it again. Dessert featured a Snickerdoodle Cake and a Cookie Dough Cheesecake layered with peanut butter and other cakes. Personally, I found the combination a bit overwhelming and prefer simpler dishes done well. All in all, our experience at Glen Rock Mill Inn was enjoyable, though our dinner and one drink each came to over $200. read more

Hubby and I ate in the bar area at a high top table. My strawberry Mojito was delicious. We both enjoyed our dinners. I had the Wild mushroom risotto and my husband had the Monkfish. Dessert was not just on a menu, they actually bring out the options on a tray. This was our biggest decision of the night, as everything looked amazing. Went for lunch. Let me start off by saying the service was wonderful. Could not have been better. But my $17 Turkey-Brie Cranberry Sandwich was quite disgusting. The Turkey was cheap lunch meat, the Brie was thinly spread on the semi stale wheat bread! I could not even taste one bit of the Brie cheese, as it was only thinly spread on a portion of the sandwich. For $17, the Brie should have been sliced, at least! Brie cheese is so cheap! For an $9 wheel of Brie, you could get enough slices for 30 sandwiches! The cranberry was a pink sauce with no flavor whatsoever. I will never go back. read more

Visited for the "High Tea Luncheon" on 7.13.24. This was a truly disappointing meal and overpriced experience all around. The scones were terrible little balls of dough (and these should be the standout of a tea!) You could only try one hot tea selection. The "entree" was cold, rubbery chicken. The desserts had nothing to do with English tea and contained no fresh or seasonal fruit, which is inexcusable in July in beautiful York, PA. Why in God's name would you offer mediocre creme brulee and dark chocolate mousse in July at a tea? These are winter desserts that are easy and cheap to produce at scale; this shows that the kitchen here is amateur and lacks creativity. You can drive to any farmstand within minutes of this restaurant and buy local protein, fruit and vegetables that would absolutely lap the quality of institutional food that was served at this tea. For much less. If this is a sign of the kind of food produced at this restaurant, there's no reason to visit this place. read more

We had the "dine for 2" special which was 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, and 1 desert for $79. My wife had a couple of glasses of wine and the bill was over $100. So be forewarned. But the food is good. My wife had the braised short ribs and I had the Mahi Mahi. I had the crab soup and my wife & I split the Maple Peecandy Pie. So, the food was good but I have to say the service (in a not so busy restaurant) was not good for the price. Sorry to say but it wasn't good. We ate here for the Valentine five course tasting menu. It was a holiday, these multi course meals take awhile. However, it took over hour between the appetizer and entree portions. You could assume they were busy for the holiday, but one table next to us ordered about half an hour after we did, another table had literally been seated at the exact same time as we were, and both parties were finished dessert and waiting on their check before we ever received our entrees. One of the patrons who had been seated at the same time as we were even ordered the exact same meal that I did, so there wasn't anything complicated about our selections, especially as it was a limited menu for the night. We received an apology right before our meals came, but no additional recognition of their poor service after that. The food was good, but the service and atmosphere was not at all welcoming. Really stretching for a 4 star but I SO want to see this place succeed. Food was fantastic! Unfortunately it took over an hour just to get our appetizers. I assume it's because they're short staffed because it seemed there was also one server for the whole place. Waters, in my opinion, should always be filled (especially when it's the only thing you're drinking) and ours were always empty. For those of us drinking, we had to constantly find a server to reorder and they were made very weak. We requested a song with the piano player and if he had said he didn't know the song I would have been totally fine but he said "I've got it!" And never played it. Bathroom toilets were also all clogged up. If you have a plumbing issue (based on the signs in the bathroom they do), totally fine but someone should check them regularly. Food is great and I want to continue supporting them but I worry they aren't staffed or struggling to afford upgrades and staffing. read more
