Value here can be very good. Service is hard to judge. Nobody can get help currently. But are service today was very good.Food quality overall is average. I have been here a couple of times Under the new owners. The steak tonight was cooked just the way it was ordered. The roast turkey filled the plate and was a great value. The all you can eat fried chicken is always a hit at our table. Even when it was O'Briens

But It took over 15 minutes for our server to greet. It was not busy. Another 10+ minutes for our drinks to come out. My 1st drink (raspberry peach margarita) was sour & tasted off. The waitress said she could change it out no problem. I switched to Berry Rose Lemonade which was excellent. Appetizers came at the same time as our meals. Not ideal. We had to ask for silverware after our food came out. Husband asked about gravy & the waitress said she would check but she never brought it up again. I ordered the pub burger, no tomato. It is supposed to come with lettuce, tomato, & pickles. It came with 1 piece of wilted floppy lettuce, tomato seeds (clearly had a tomato which was then removed), & no pickles. Asked the waitress for pickles, which never came. The burger itself had good flavor, but it was just the burger and bun. My husband ordered the boom boom shrimp, and bacon wrapped meatloaf; he said his food was good not great. Our kids ordered cheese pizza, & fish n chips. They both liked their meals. The bill came on a handheld. When my husband asked to review the itemized receipt, she said she could print it out, and then prompted him to pay. After he paid & tipped, she told him to have a good night & walked away. We spent $130 including tip. We never got an itemized receipt. We will not return.

My wife had the crab cake burger and I had a burger with apple slices, I don't recall the name but it was on the Confederate side of the menu. We were both very happy with the food. It was AMAZING. A burger in one place is much the same as a burger in any other? Ha!…read more The Blue & Gray Bar & Grill, right in the center of historic Gettysburg, goes one better. We'd spent an entire day touring the battlefield, it's a Saturday, and the town is full of tourists. No surprise we had a thirty minute wait for a table. But once inside and seated, it was clear to us that the B & G was no ordinary bar & grill. The burgers are themed for generals, both Federal and Confederate, who took part in the battle. Each burger is characterized by the general it's named for. The General Buford, for example, is served with bleu cheese crumbles and horseradish (he's a cavalry officer, get it?) and the Robert E. Lee features a slab of Virginia ham. I ordered the General George Meade. Meade was a Pennsylvanian, so naturally this burger comes with a pile of Philly cheesesteak. A carnivore's delight, to be sure. No complaints here. And if I'm ever back this way, I'm curious to try the General Longstreet: it's served with carmelized onions and peanut butter. That's gotta be good.

The food was outstanding, the drinks were excellent, and they had a huge menu with plenty of food and drink options to choose from. The original space was…read morecozy and welcoming; this new one feels cold, generic, and poorly thought out--honestly more like the Eagles than a place with any personality. And if I wanted that unimaginative vibe, I'd just go to the Eagles. We sat in a booth, but the bar area looked far more inviting--as long as you're facing forward and ignoring the afterthought that is the rest of the seating. The layout just doesn't work. I also didn't see any of the familiar faces from the original location, which was discouraging and made the place feel even less like the Sign of the Horse I remembered. When you walk in, if anyone is at the host stand, they grab a carafe of water from a cooler and lead you to your table... but no glasses. Are customers supposed to pass the carafe around communally? It was awkward and off-putting. The food was fine, but nothing special--and certainly not good enough to make up for the atmosphere. Overall, this move stripped away everything that made the place enjoyable. I won't be back.

I'm not a heavy drinker but I enjoy a social drink now and then. They have an excellent selection of seasonal brews for every taste. (I like more light beers while my husband and father in law prefer the darker ones) Food wise you can't go wrong with their BBQ. I had gotten a fish and chips special in March and I wish they still had it on the menu! Fish was so light and crispy, not greasy like most I've had. This time I had the half chicken which came with a corn bread muffin, baked beans and BBQ sauce. Chicken was so tender and juciy, I had enough for another meal. Husband had the brisket sandwich and just the plan brisket the next time. Said the sandwich was better, not as dry as just the meat. We made the mistake of ordering an appetizer and soup with our BBQ trays and all the food came out within 10 minutes of each course. Waitress apologized that the BBQ platters don't take long to get together so its just something to keep in mind. I remember the first time our appetizer and entrees came out later so it really depends on what you order. Both times we got the large pub pretzel with crab dip. So good! I do recommend reservations as it seems to fill pretty fast. It's a large open restaurant with beautiful decor and outdoor seating that will probably open up with the warmer weather. Just watch the timing and what you order or you might end up with a buffet like we did. Plus side, it was all good left over!

Got drinks - my husband was delighted with the beer options and loved the single hop All Citra the best, and he is a beer snob (in the best way!). The Sauvignon blanc was ok, but I realize that is not their focus. We had calamari to share - good flavor, but more pillowy than crisp. The platters are the way to go - $20 for a ridiculous amount of terrific food! The pulled pork was smoky, tender and homemade sauces were perfect. Sides of coleslaw, beans and a cornbread muffin were all tasty and a nice sized serving. I had enough left for another whole meal! The brisket was awesome too - got a chunk from my husband. Our server was Allie - she did a great job - there when we needed her, knowledgeable and nice as could be! The food is served quickly, which was nice if you are traveling. Overall, a fun experience in a beautiful setting and a very reasonable price.
