Recently attended a Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce event at Buon Vino. Great venue for a reception. It was rather crowded so it took my colleague and me a little time to get the attention of the bartender. Worth waiting for! Excellent selection of wines (and other drink options). I often don't expect much from wine at receptions. However, I was pleasantly surprised with my Syrah. Quite lovely. The two large charcuterie boards offered a variety of bite-size nibbles ... cheese, cured meat, crackers, and mixed nuts. (Some grapes or other fuit would have added color.) We've been enjoying Buon Vino for years and are thrilled for their new space! Dan, Jackie, and Erin are all so welcoming and you instantly feel like family upon walking in. You can order a tasting flight of four wines for $20 or get a glass to enjoy. The bottles are about $20-$30 and with purchase of 3 waives a tasting. They also have cheese and charcuterie boards you can purchase to snack on while you enjoy your wine. The wines are all great and the staff is all knowledgeable about the wine and walking you through your tasting. They have a large bar that you can sit up, high top tables in the front space, a lounge area, and private room you can book in the back. So spacious, welcoming, and comfortable. Beautiful new location with consistently delicious wines. We were excited to pop into their new location for a tasting during a recent FriDate. They offer a four pour tasting for $20. We enjoyed a few of the pours enough that we purchased three bottles and that waived one of our tasting fees. Their wines are typically in the $20-$30/bottle range. The staff are friendly and provide great service, and the owner, Dan, took the time to catch up with us and chat a bit about their new location. They have the bar area, plus a large, open space with tables and a private room. They don't have a full kitchen, although enough to accommodate some food and caterers, which opens up more possibilities with regards to group gatherings here. We will certainly be back! read more

So much that after my tasting I called my husband and we went back to try it together once he was done with work. The atmosphere is fun and the business has a very interesting concept and I loved the wines I tried. Every single wine in both tastings were delicious! The staff was very warm, friendly and welcoming. I seriously felt like I made friends and that says a lot to me. I had a wonderful time learning about and discussing wine with Dan and then later meeting his sister! The wine was delicious and it was fun to try a variety of wines from both Sonoma and Napa in the same place. But imagine my surprise when we walked up and it was a whole lower level floor, complete with barrels and other tables, comfy armchairs, bar and barstools, a banquet room -- you name a more perfect event space! They open at noon, which can be a quiet time while others are out a lunch, but it is a perfect time to come since you'll be greeted and personally walked through the tasting list by Dan and his welcoming staff! Dan and his cousin were so personable and fun, telling us how he grew up in Florence and the dream of opening Buon Vino came about. They were very knowledgeable of the wine they carried, since they work closely with sommeliers before posting it on their menu. Great rotating selection of reds and whites. Had an amazing time at Buon Vino to kick off my mom's 70th birthday celebration. I reserved a wine tasting and charcuterie plates for 7 people. There were a lot of people there and the team did a great job providing a personalized experience anyway. Great wine. I described what I enjoy and they offered an awesome Zinfandel from the north coast (I think that was the location). Great location. It's where the jazz club used to be. I visited Buon Vino about 2 years ago when they held a sports radio live event. The place was packed. We had a great time and was amazed how hard the owner, Dan, was hustling. The crowd was way bigger than anticipated and everyone wanted drinks and light food. I then went back to a reg night a few months back. Loved sitting in the middle 'lounge' and enjoyed some great Pinot. The staff was so knowledgeable on the wines - so many to choose from. I like coming here - enjoying wine alone or with some friends. I came in today after purchasing a $10 wine tasting and I have to admit that I'm happy I did :-) as I walked in all the tables were occupied but Katie did a very good job and acknowledged my presence and letting me know that she would be right with me. In about 5 minutes after I walked in me and my babe we're finally drinking some wine! :-) with the coupon we were able to try 4 different wines four of each. The wine tasting experience was not bad at all although the small location I have to say that I was very pleased with the service. All the different wines that I tasted were listed on the wall and as a visual person I was very happy to see that. Along with wine tasting you were able to taste there sea salt bread sticks which I have to admit were very good! All of their bottles of wine were less than $20 which was also a very good deal. I could not walk out without buying a bottle. I definitely thank Katie for her service but also thank LivingSocial for providing the coupon ad because I don't think I would have came if it wasn't for it. I think the only thing that I have to complain about if I had to complain was that the business did not have their name in front on the building which made it very difficult to know where the location was I'm guessing they just open so it's going to happen soon! Fantastico! Dan wears his passion for his craft on his sleeve and his hospitality comes naturally. I felt so at home there and could chat it up for days with him if we had the time. I'm not money bags so although I would love to open up a $$$ bottle of wine every day, that's not reality. This place is perfect for that everyday wine for us everyday people. :) Dan told us about the private room in the back where for $25 a person you get 2 hours of unlimited wine and you can bring your own food- pizza, take out, even get it catered! That same day- I made a call to Friends and reserved the room for some good times with friends. :) We bought a bottle and brought it out to dinner with us tonight! The owner, Dan Batlin, spent 6 months in Florence, Italy and wanted to bring an Italian-style corner tasting room to America, so he opened up Buon Vino Inc. He serves 8 different wines from Napa and Sonoma. He chose the wines to exemplify what a good Zin or a Pinot or a Chardonnay, etc. should taste like, rather than just focusing on the labels. You can taste 6 ounces of 4 different wines for $10 (plus tax) at their in-store tasting room, or you can split the 6 ounces to try more or less wine. All of their bottles are $20 or less and if you buy 6 or more bottles of wine, you get 10% off. They're eco-friendly too! Return the empty wine bottle to the store and get $1 (per bottle returned) off your next purchase. Another cool thing that they offer is the ability to make your own wine label, which is great if you like to give personalized gifts to friends or family. They have a large private tasting room in the back -- complete with a mural of the Italian countryside with Mt. Diablo in the background painted by a local artist from Florence -- a flat screen tv -- and a huge wooden table that seats 12, plus lots of standing room. You can rent the room per hour to host a private event. They'll even guide you through a wine tasting! I am ashamed that I didn't know a new wine bar opened a year ago and I just found out from a friend of mine. This is my hood, yo! Dan and his wife run this place, and they are the friendliest peeps ever. My bf and I went here with another couple on a Friday night for wine tasting and it was a fun time had by all. The tastings usually cost $10 for 4 tastings but livingsocial had a 2 for 1 deal that made this deal even sweeter. I tried the chard, rose, malbec and cab. All 4 were fantastic, which is unusual for wine tasting because usually there is 1 or 2 good ones, and the rest are just meh. Prices are reasonable as well, most bottles are under $20.
