I like the sandwiches here at Buona Beef. The two that stand out to me are their meatball and italian beef (add italian sausage if you're really hungry). I liked the Parmesan chips when they had them, but they removed them from the menu. The one complaint I have from this particular store is when you tell them to cut the sandwich in half, they cut it 90% in half, leaving a little bit that is a pain to separate. read more

Haven't been to Buona in quite a while (over 20 years) and wanted to give it a try again. Known for Italian Beef sandwiches, they also have a pretty large menu for those who want something different. We came here for Italian Beef so that's what we ordered. After a short wait, our food was delivered to our table and we began to devour our meals. My wife ordered the traditional Italian Beef, (dipped in the gravy so everything is pretty saturated with delicious sauce. If you like it even more dipped, you can order it "baptized" and I can only imagine what that would be like!) She had her sandwich topped with hot giardiniera peppers. She liked it saying the gravy or sauce was more spicy as she preferred. I ordered the combo Italian beef-Italian sausage dipped. My meal was also quite good but thought the roll didn't have that "snap" other Italian Beef place's rolls had. Maybe it was a bit more tough or perhaps I should have ordered my combo "baptized" believing the extra gravy would help with the roll. I still enjoyed my sandwich very much. If we didn't still have a couple of pounds of a competitor's Italian beef in our freezer at home, I might have bought a few pounds to take home. Maybe next time. I called this Glendale Heights location a few days after eating at a Buona location much closer to me. I didn't want to call that location as didn't have a "great" experience based on several issues. The first person I spoke with was Arianna as the other store said my phone # did not come up in their system preventing my points earned from that day's purchase from posting to my app. And, after I updated app at home, I wanted to add my earned points but had a few questions. Ariana was AWESOME-SO helpful-told me I could enter UPC code, rather than scanning QR image. I asked to talk to her also AWESOME store manager, Josh, to tell him how AWESOME Ariana was-much appreciated after a less than "great" experience at the other location re: more than one issue-not the usual experience tho. He was verv empathetic, apologized at least a few times for the experience I had at the other- which was totally unnecessary as not his store. Based on my experience with Ariana & her Manager, Josh, I would most definitely recommend their Glendale Heights restaurant store based on their caring attitude - especially, as it was not their store where I had the issues. read more

The Buffalo Chicken Sandwich has turned bland and lacks flavor - it might as well just be a plain fried chicken sandwich with a sprinkle of flavorless blue cheese morsels. But today I ordered another one from the Buona in Itasca and it, too, was flavorless. Seriously, I absolutely understand it is a very busy day. One day for Italian beef day. But, omg, could have been ready for it. All the people working there looked so overwhelmed. Why couldn't mgmt be more on top of things? They should've known ahead of time that today, of all days, should be crazy busy? Buona is a great place to stop into for lunch (or dinner, presumably) either solo or with a group. They do everything right here and it never seems to be too crowded. Of course we have the beef sandwiches when we come here because, honestly, it's the best beef around. Portillo's is our usual go-to but this place is just better. Better flavor, spices, and options. Along with the sandwiches the fires are always severed hot and taste so fresh. Also, I had a Chicago-style hot dog and it was very tasty, and for a price that you will have a hard time beating elsewhere. Finally, the kids meal options are solid and any little ones will be happy. The dining room is kept very clean and there are tons of table options to accommodate whatever size party you have. I called in my order, and I live in Bartlett. It took 15 mins to drive down there. the same lady I gave my order tells me we don't have your order in our system. I go to my call log and call the number and the same lady picks up while in the window with another Employee. He said are you sure you called this store. I gave him the address 305 army trail. I ask the lady on the phone is this 305 Army trail, both say yes. So, 30 mins wasted with no food. I am very disappointed especially when I could have did doordash or Uber eats. I am upgrading and updating my review in that after several return visits, I am consistently satisfied with the taste and the speed of service. Items are made to order so it usually takes a few minutes which is totally worth it. I typically eat in and noticed several of the employees are high school students. Knowing that makes it easier to accept occasional less than satisfactory visits whether it involve an incorrect order, less than enthusiastic demeanor or playfulness with other colleagues while you wait for your order. I get it. We were all teenagers once. Gluten free bread is available for sandwiches and pizzas alike. The pizzas are smaller when ordered on gluten free bread. My bf has an allergy so he orders the GF pizza despite its size and will typically get something else (soup or salad) too. Co workers of mine said this was a great lunch option and they were right. I wasn't sure of the sizes because we ordered online and my eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach. When we arrived our order was ready and waiting. The staff was friendly and helpful as we grabbed our bags, got a few drinks from the soda fountain and packed up to head out. The meatball sub I got was larger than I expected. That was a nice surprise and probably would have been better for a dinner portion than lunch for me. The meatballs had great flavor and enough sauce to compliment the meatballs. The to-go was a risk because the sauce had enough time to soak in and make the bread a soggy mess. She told us to leave a review good or bad just honest feedback so we know what we can improve on we were shocked she said that most people wouldn't say that especially in her position. We got a $25.00 gift card for Buona... We went there last week and use part of the card. We asked for senior drinks (2) and the girl gave us the larger cup. I wasn't sure if she made a mistake, and charged us for the larger cup or if the cup sizes had changed. We ate our order, 1 beef ( very peppery) and 1 sausage. We had a balance left of $6.56. Today we went back and order 2 pizzas, this time the senior cup was very small, which made me wonder was it a mistake to give up the larger cup, or did we pay for the larger drink, when I asked for senior. I thought the color was very light, but I continue to refill with the Pepsi choice. After we almost were done eating/drinking, by husband complained to me the drinks were horrible. The one agreed, that they needed to put more syrup in the machine, she offered to give me another drink? I said no, we were done and leaving. No other offer was given to us. Alas, it wasn't meant to be on this Wednesday early evening. The reason I normally don't come to this Buona is because, more often than not, they undercook the fries. I don't eat a lot of junk, so when I splurge on fries, I want them tasty. I was on my way to a show a few weeks ago and was too lazy and pressed for time to cook, so stopped in for a Grilled Chicken Avocado + Pepperjack sandwich ($7+ after tax), sans pepperjack. It tasted fine, but a whole 5 minutes later my sammy made an, erm, reappearance. Not good. I don't have a delicate stomach and I'm not normally one to complain, but I'm not cool with paying for intestinal distress. I called Buona and spoke with a manager, who apologized, took my name (I gave him my order number too, though he didn't ask for it), and he told me he was putting my name in the system. Next time, he said, "Come and order a replacement meal, get something for a friend, and tell the cashier to look up your name in the system." Look, I'm not one for freebies either. It would be nice of them to replace my one meal. He seemingly offered the second to make up for the experience. So tonight I went in, did what he said... aaaaand the cashier and store manager were super confused. They explained that's NOT how things work. They honored it, but it was pretty awkward. The store manager also started telling me that "The temperature is set to X-degrees to cook the chicken." (Okay, but I got sick and hadn't eaten a thing in 5+ hours. The chicken seemed slightly under. Could there also have been cross-contamination?) The Turkey Classic I had tonight was very good and the fries were actually okay. The best part? No tummy issues this time. It's nice Buona was willing to make the situation right, despite a lack of protocol/communication. Buona Beef has some good burgers -- their angus cheeseburger is what I typically get, with parmesan chips. On occasions I've gotten their hot dogs, and every now and then I get their Italian beefs. All of it is pretty good; cooked well, and you're not going to find crispy parmesan chips anywhere else out here. The fries need a lot of salt and ketchup (I think) but otherwise they're good. When my husband's family went to a car show here last week and offered to buy us dinner, I was really surprised to see the first word under the Buona Beef sign was "salad." Salad? OK, cool! The interior is cute -- an ice cream counter with bar stools covered in cow print, many signs, good seating, etc. Typical restaurant of its type, yet I was pleasantly surprised. The menu had plenty of options, including a variety of salads. However, most of the non-meat salads were things I make at home regularly, so I ended up ordering the Buona Chopped Salad with a side of french fries. The salad has typical salad toppings along with cool penne pasta -- I thought it sounded good. And it WAS good! And HUGE! I swear this salad had four servings in it -- I didn't even want the french fries after I saw how large the dish was. I ate half of the salad while I was there and took the other half home -- which was just as good the next morning. The family enjoyed their beef sandwiches. I wouldn't be a regular here, but now I'm more open to eating here with the in-laws if it becomes an option for dinner. I might have to try to order half a salad, though... read more

I just started going here after my boss took me here. I have been back about 4 or 5 times in the past 4 weeks. They are much like Portillo's but about a half a notch up. If you are dining in you take a seat at a table after ordering and they bring you your order and anything else you ask for.
