Today we came here to have soup cause my husband's not feeling so good. They have a quart sized for only 899 so my husband got the chicken noodle soup and I got the beef and barley soup. They came with oyster crackers and it was delicious. I highly recommend stopping here if you having a craving for soups. You can call the restaurant and find out the soup of the day. There is usually at least two they have fountain drinks that you fill up yourself. There's a little cooler with desserts and then they also have ice cream. It's a nice cozy place to come eat. It was cold outside, but not in there the dining room is very clean and they have televisions to watch the football game so that was great. We'll be back soon for sure. Went in for a chicken wrap yesterday for lunch and it was literally, 2 inches big. I was embarrassed for them. How could he serve that with a straight face. That and one diet coke (no side) was $11.65. Having been in the restaurant business for many many years, I know how inexpensive chicken is and what food cost is all about. Ordered for delivery so I can't comment on ambiance. Though I'm a delivery driver myself and have picked up orders there and it looks bright and clean! Food is DELICIOUS and well prepared with great portions. Onion rings and curly fries were just right! Crispy and not at all greasy! And the chicken gyros? YUM. I've been looking for a replacement for the chicken gyros I used to get by my old job. So many places don't do the chicken on the spit and just call marinated grilled chicken a gyro. But this was exactly what I wanted. Super tender! Could use just a smidge more umph in seasoning but I very much enjoyed it. Replacement found. I will definitely need to try the traditional gyros. Brandy's is a chain, but this is the only location I've ever visited, so I can't compare it to others. The first thing I noticed upon entering was that the prices are substantially higher than other similar restaurants. That wouldn't be a problem if the quality matched the price point. Atmosphere/Service: Seating area is comfortable and clean, nicer than similar restaurants nearby. TV's are on, if you're looking to watch TV and kill some time on a break. Service was friendly enough The food: Hotdog, fries, drink. I usually start with something simple to see if an establishment can do it well before grabbing something more expensive. This was not good. Bun was between fresh and stale. Hotdog was not snappy and fresh, definitely didn't taste like a traditional Chicago dog. Toppings were okay. Fries were meh. Fountain drinks are available but it seemed like the mix was off, like there wasn't enough flavor for the carbonation mix. Overall, I would skip it. It's not awful and probably won't get you sick. I was turned on to Brandy's (then Chiggie's) in 1999. At the time they featured Grecian Delight's top of the line products. Not sure if the Souvlaki was one of their products, but they sold the gold standard in Souvlaki (as far as I was concerned.) The meat was char-grilled to perfection. The marinade used on the meat made it even more favorable. I called my order in, as I usually do, and when I got it home, I noticed the orientation of the carton was different. Brandy's has gone to a flavorless ka-bob they would have been embarrassed to have served two weeks ago. It wasn't char-grilled, just cooked on a flat-top. I was thinking how much I would miss this, as I am moving soon. I'm glad I found out about this change, because I'll never go back here for the Souvlaki again. Hope they go back to what they had - I get costs are going up, but I cannot say that I have ever been more disappointed in a restaurant that has a history with me like this. read more

Miss having food from Brandy's especially their Gryo's and fries. Due to having surgery I'm not allowed to have certain foods for at least a year. Their service is awesome. Dont do it. We got so sick from the chicken gyro we ended up reporting them to the health department. Thats how bad it was. The sauce and chicken tasted alittle off but we chalked it up to "greasy comfort food we arent use to having". Boy were we wrong.... In no less then 20 or 30 minutes (haven't eaten all day and were feeling fine) I literally dropped my guts...it poured out of me like a faucet. The whole evening in to the next morning probably 6 trips of actual "gut wrenching" explosions. My poor wife slept on the bathroom floor from it coming out of both ends. I woke up to what I thought was an animal dying. Ive got food poisoning once when I was 12 never thought id have to relive that again...well i did and my wife joined me on this ride. We always hit up Brandy's whenever we're feeling a craving for gyros. In addition to the gyros (which are hit or miss), we order the rib tips pretty consistently. The Alfredo is bland, so I wouldn't suggest ordering it unless you like adding your own seasonings to a dish. Overall, serving sizes are decent. My main issue is sometimes the service tends to be subpar. There was once a time we ordered delivery, and it must've taken over an hour for the food to arrive. I'm sure there must've been an issue with being short handed or something, but lesson learned. From that point on, we've just phoned in and ordered to-go. read more

Time for a review for Brandy's! First of all, I used to eat from the location in Des Plaines several years ago and never really was a big fan. This particular location was previously a Chiggys and I was never a fan of Chiggys even tho it is basically the same restaurant. It was dirty and the food was average. Brandy's in HP is one of my favorite grab a go or lunch spots in the area. I am over Omega and there really isn't anything else around the area like it. I want good Greek chicken and not fast food. They make a lot of their items in house. Their soup is ALWAYS homemade and the two times I have had it, it was excellent. My husband enjoys a good gyro and this is also his first choice for a local spot. They are a fast casual spot where you can sit and eat or take your deliciousness and dine at home. I'm personally not one to sit in fast casual restaurants unless I'm on the road. I hate paying $2+ for a soda (the prices of soft drinks in restaurants are just a pet peeve of mine) and they aren't typically the most comfortable places to relax and enjoy dinner. With that being said, Brandy's has a pretty nice dining room with a tv which keeps the hubby happy so that's a plus. Their tables are always clean and the owners/management obviously take pride in their establishment. This used to be my go to place for gyros but the quality of their food has declined over time. The price for a gyro meal now is $16.48 (incl tax and fees). Speaking of fees, they charge their customers "Service fee" when you use a credit card. Why? I don't see other places that I go to charge me a fee for charging my food. It is ridiculous. I'm a gyro snob but Brandys really satisfied my palate! I only ate gyros from Greek town in Chicago but now, I found something comparable. Tip: ask for extra sauce. I like my gyro well done. Try it if you haven't already. Brandys is reasonably priced, they have 10,000 items in their menu, they deliver at reasonable time. Their fries-- meh, you can skip this. Their Mexican menu, mehhh you can skip this too. I'm a Mexican food snob as well. If they use lettuce on the taco, SKIP IT!!! Well I guess only if you're into authentic Mexican food like me. I have been a customer for quite some time. Every once in a while you get a messed up meal or they forget something. Tonight was the worst it has ever been. I ordered two cheese dogs and they put a slice of cheese on the dogs and the buns were cold and stale. I also ordered an Italian beef with grilled green peppers, mushrooms and provolone cheese. There were no peppers on the beef and the mushrooms have been old to the point of having those brown spots on them when they start to get moldy. There was no manager working there and when a manager did call us back they tried putting the blame on the people they get there bread from.
